  1. Actually when I had stalls I would get frustrated and fearful that my weight loss was done but it wasn't. During the time of the stalls is when my body was rapidly decreasing in inches..... I would put on a pair of nice slacks in the morning and by the afternoon, they would be too big. That was a great NSV. You will lose your weight and have more stalls. Instead of looking at the stall as a bad thing, why not look at it as a good thing. Like the decrease in inches. If you haven't already taken measurements, this is a good time to take the measurements to see the changes in body size. CONGRATS...
  2. Well, I'm 6 wks out today and 31# down. 3 to share. 1. My son and I went hiking last weekend. I made it 3 miles on a difficult trail. A quarter of the way through at the top of a hill, my son stopped me and said " remember this spot? Its where you were out of breath and your ankles hurt so bad, I saw tears in your eyes. Now your keeping up with me." We finished at a very brisk pace this time. 2. He said he was proud of me 3. A patient asked why I'd had an MRI. As I was encouraging him through his PET scan. I told him I'd had a ministroke at age 37 due to being overweight and high BP. He looked me up and down and was surprised because he thought I looked "healthy".. I still have 65# to lose, but its a start.

    feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

Here's my update. I am down 27lbs since surgery 2/28. I seem to stall every other week. Nsv - I'm down 22.5 inches in total.
  6. Disney Nut, that is fantastic, what a huge NSV. We're a big Disney family, too, but in California...my daughter actually works at one of the parks. I don't go as often as I did when the kids were younger, but I did go last week...and boy, were my feet, ankles and knees KILLING me after the day was done (i'm still pre-op). Can't WAIT to be in your shoes, YAY for you :-)
  7. Congratulations!! That is such an exciting NSV to achieve. Sounds like it was a vacation to remember.
  8. That is such an awesome NSV! Perhaps my wife will have your success also as she has dealt with ankylosing spondylitis most of her life. She currently is on remicade injections every 6 weeks, but has done prednisone and embrel in the past. She is going to have VSG in a couple months and would it not be amazing if she had your success.
  9. I just got back from a week in Disney World. For the past few years, I've had to rent a scooter to be able to get around the parks. It was a real lifesaver, but a hassle...getting it on the buses, etc. But now I'm 50 pounds lighter because of my lap band surgery. And this trip...I WALKED ALL AROUND DISNEY! Sorry for the "yelling", but I am just so darn excited. It was such a great feeling to be healthy enough to walk. In fact, my son told me to "slow down" at one point. I did rent a scooter on one day. It was rainy, and my left ankle (which I smashed a few years ago) felt painful. But the rental was not because I was too heavy to walk, so I'm okay with that. And even with the bad ankle I was able to park the scooter and walk around the countries and the pavilions at Epcot, instead of having to stay in my chair. This has to be one of my favorite NSVs!
  10. Today is my 37th b-day and I am in the best shape of my life (very literal statement)! Down 170 lb from my last b-day and @ 17% body fat. DOS: 07/02/2012 SW (5/8/2012): 360 DOSW (7/2/21012): 335 GW (2/27/2013): 180 CW (5/8/2013): 190 Time to live life to the fullest!!!
  11. I dont know how many other people do this but whenever I come home I change into sweatpants/pjs. I have not been able to wear jeans for more than a few hrs comfortably in a long time! Well, on monday, I was home cleaning the kitchen and looked down and noticed that I never took my jeans off after taking ym daughter to school! I was comfy and kept them on all day as like a trophy. Maybe tmi right now: to top it of I am on my period this week, so normally nothing fits! It just felt awesome!

Love all the NSV everyone! A few of mine: not spilling over onto the person next to me on the airplane, lost a chin (still have a gobbler neck though), can wear high heels all day, down to a 14w was a 20 prior to surgery.
  13. Oh I missed this one -- how very cool!! You are still kicking ass three years on. THAT is the NSV that i find totally inspirational about you. I want your stick-to-it-ive-ness!!!!

    Feel good stories! Share yours!

I was a size 22 the day of my surgery 11/01/12. Last night my very petite 11yrs old daughter ran up to me and gave me a hug. She realized her arms could wrap around me. I'm now between a size 16 and 14. It was a very endearing moment and a very pleasurable NSV. I love my LapBand and everyday there is a new reward.

    new addiction anyone?

i'm not addicted. Today i am HUNGRY!!! No matter what I stuff down my throat, it doesnt make me LESS hungry. Now granted, this is coming off of a "sugar" high since I overindulged over the weekend on kettle corn, donuts, etc (Local community fair/event!) Seriously!!! Protein in, lots of it, and it's not helping! Yep, you say, "you did that to yourself!" And yep, I did, but BOY, am I ravenously hungry. Have done well and refrained from junk today NSV to me!
  17. This is going to sound so silly but I can't wait to go to my mammogram appointment next week to see how the gown fits. Last time I was there...six months ago, I gave in and finally had to wear two gowns..front to back and back to front in order to cover up sufficiently. I don't expect that this time now that I'm down more than 50 lbs. Also...am flying in a couple of weeks and the first thing I want to do is buckle the belt without a friggin' extension. Oh how I hate having to ask for one. And...the next thing I want to do is put the arm down without it scootching back up because my hips are in the way.
  18. A new NSV today. My gut has shrunk enough that I was able to slide my car seat forward an inch.

    Shout out your Nsv's

Yes, you can have an NSV before surgery. NSV stands for non scale victory, so it is anything you can celebrate that doesn't have to do with the numbers on the scale.

    Shout out your Nsv's

Can you have NSVs before surgery?
  21. We love to see before and afters, but i am bow wanting to hear about NSV's. we get so focused on the scales we lose sight of other victories. So tell me, what was you best NSV? I'll go first. I am pre-op but have 2 NSV's with my diet now 1. I can put my socks on without grunting 2. My engagement ring fits again! Your turn.... ????

    my fave NSV yet!

Spatters way to go. That is a big NSV'S I've seen.

    my fave NSV yet!

nice :-) I had an unexpected NSV yesterday. My grandson was playing on the kitchen floor and he managed to bunch up the rug in front of the sink. I was at the stove, didn't realize there was a hazard behind me, and backed up to get to the sink. I *almost* went down but was able to catch myself with the counter midway to the floor. My husband was impressed :-) I have hurt myself several times by slipping and not being able to stop myself from falling. Woo hoo!
  24. Your NSV made me giggle! It will be intersting to see how poeple will act around me once things get started. Now it is just a waiting game until we move to Florida. It just cannot come fast enough.
  25. Unfortunately, yes. Its as if I am not invisible anymore. More people look and smile more. Whereas before I felt as if I was kind of ignored. Now part of that probably has to do with the fact that I have a different attitude but still. One thing that irritates me is that a man almost always holds a door open for me now. I know its a nice gesture and it is not his fault men didn't do that before but its a reminder of where I came from and there sooo is a world of beautiful overweight people that out there that deserve that kindness too. The clothes part has had a strange twist I didn't see coming. I gravitate back to the plus size section every time. I am (or was) comfortable there. But its not where I belong anymore. Yet when I go to the regular sizes I feel like I don't belong there either. Its a work in progress. Funny NSV (non scale victory): that I had to adjust the seat in the car because since my bum shrunk, I was sitting lower in the seat. Losts of little things you never thought could be affected that are. Its very fun. Size wise I am a comfortable 14 with a few 12s. My personal goal is to be comfortable in a size 10. I think its doable.
