    JP Drain

For my open RNY I had a drain, and I had 2 after my abdominoplasty. O my gawd, in both surgeries I was stapled from stem to stern and it was the drain sites that killed me. Evil things drains are. 10 days of evil. Worse, the tape around where the drains came out wouldn't stick, so the drain kept pulling against the incision. I got super surgical tape and it wouldn't stick. Nothing rational would stick. In frustration I tried duct tape. Thank you duct tape. Once I found the duct tape, is was easy to keep the drain from pulling. Just thinking of it now makes the memory of the pain better. Fortunately, having learned duct tape worked so well after the RNY I had it ready for the TT. Good luck and remember: This too shall pass. Tek

    JP Drain

Mine was in 10 days and was pretty sore by the time I got it out. Once it was out it felt so much better. As long as it's not swollen, red, or having any foul drainage it is probably just irritated. Sent from my Nokia 7.2 using BariatricPal mobile app

    November 2020 sleevers

I am packed, Jewellery off, and family contacted. We did all the bloodwork the week before last. I just check in at 11 with Surgery at 1pm. I have been "nesting" for the last 3 weeks so I have a very clean house and have set up some light Christmas projects to do shortly after the surgery. My husband will be working from home so I'm good with that. My 19 year old daughter (my youngest ) took next week off to come and keep me company. I Work with handicapped adults and am off for 6 weeks but I have asked to still do all the administrative work, like monthly financials and such. They will call all the time so I'll feel connected. I'm from the Saskatoon area of Saskatchewan in Canada. Tomorrow we have to drive the 3 hours it takes to get to where the surgery will take place, They do the Surgeries on Mondays and we get discharged on Thursdays as ready as I will ever be and excited beyond belief. I have been on Protein drinks and clear fluids for the last 2 weeks, which was a lot easier than I expected. It was the same when I quit smoking, I got the call to enter the program on a Friday and I quit on Sunday, no issues. I want to know where all this was before I entered the program ...lol Today I was benched, I'm officially on the losers bench!!! [emoji3590] I spent extra time in recovery because my oxygen levels were low. After 3 hours in recover,I went up to my room feeling very nauseated and dry heaving. The pain is at a tolerable level so that is good. I am very happy to have been able to get this done so no complaints for me.[emoji846] How are the rest of you doing? 5. I don't necessarily have a problem avoiding starches, however, I'm on a general diet and was told by the surgeon and the dietician that pretty much anything is ok, as long as it's a "healthy choice" (per the post-op diet binder). I'm not cramming myself full of pasta, bread, potatoes or anything else. As a matter of fact, I've had very little of any of those things, and am still sticking to a low/SF diet as well. My confusion/concern is why two people in the same practice have such differing views and one was downright rude about it. I think I'm doing pretty good as far as weight loss goes - I'm the lowest I've been in about 19 years and still losing!

    Any October Sleevers?

I just had my sleeve on 10/30. I’m struggling a bit with drinking. It hurts when the liquid hits my stomach. Will this go away?

    Stopped Losing Weight

I am starting to log my food intake again since I moved on to the next stage. During the liquid stage I was not tracking my intake except for making sure I got enough protein. I am definitely not eating even close to 3500 calories a day. My primary care doctor thinks my body might just be in starvation mode, but I don't really know. I am getting 64 ounces of water every day and at least 60 grams of protein. I have contacted my surgery team several times already, but I am not getting much help. I have an appointment with the dietitian in 10 days, since the one that was supposed to be today somehow wasn't actually scheduled..
  8. I went thru the pre-op program at one hospital before changing to another location at the last minute (for various reasons). The first hospital had a 2-week post-op pureed stage. The place I ended up going thru only had me on pureed for 2 DAYS. And the doctor who did my surgery worked at the first hospital for 10 years before moving on to his own practice, so he's obviously familiar with the differences in post-op diets. Odd - and can be confusing!

    Why is this happening???

Struggling to find things to eat at 10 weeks out from RNY. Chicken and beef make me so sick I just have horrible pain and throw up over and over. I am eating greek yogart, snow crab legs and some soups .. green pea and barley. I eat salad with diet dressing and peeled green apples. I snack on chick peas, soy beans and small pretzel sticks. If I try to drink protein drinks it makes me sick and I struggle drinking anything but herbal tea. Anyone know if it will change in the future? Are you able to ever drink and not sip water? Are you ever able to eat normal meat again? Wondering if it gets better .... is it that i don't chewy enough ?
  10. Hi! I had RNY on Oct 19. I am about 2 weeks out. I have been taking Lovonox injections twice a day since the day of surgery; however, yesterday I started developing a rash around every injection site I have ever done. This morning they looked like welts. I was surprised by the sudden onset. I messaged my vascular specialist and his office has not read my message yet. Calling is a no go with NorthShore Hospital System, because of 90min wait times. Anyone else experience a bad reaction? What happened and how was it handled? I have two clotting disorders, so I am on it because I am at a higher risk for a clot.

    Sleeved

I was sleeved August 12 2019....was the best thing I did for myself ... lifesaving surg...I was 272 now 183...surg was great no problems from that day to this. I have encouraged 3 friend to have the surgery with great success. Have faith and do it! Sent from my SM-G950U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. Hi all, so glad they added this forum! I was sleeved in 2017 and lost 90lbs. Unfortunately I experienced great loss and trauma in 2019 to recent and find myself meeting the criteria for weight loss surgery again. I’ve done a lot of work on myself since and learned how to cope without using food. I’m starting the approval process for a revision on 11/19/20. Anyone on here get a second surgery due to weight gain? I know they do revisions for GERD and other issues but I want to hear from anyone who had a revision for gain. Did you sleeve to bypass? Resleeve? Sleeve to DS? Bypass to...? Did insurance cover it? Make you do a diet program first? Did it take months? tell me all the things!

I'm starting to get a little freaked out, not about having surgery, but about how this is permanent change. I'm packed, charging up my devices, and ready to go in the morning. I'm lucky that my surgery is at 09:30, so I won't have to wait too long and ponder too much. LOL. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Sent from my SM-T710 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Early period?

I had sleeve on Monday, had already had my period for the month about 10 days prior. Three days post op, and I had another period that was honestly pretty rough and has continued, and I'm now 6 days post op..

  22. Well I started my journey at 315 lbs pre surgery. I got to 275 on surgery day with 10 months of dietician. Today I am exactly two months post op. And it made my day this morning to weigh in at 239!!!!! I cant ever remember being this weight. Besides buying new clothes and having them not fit in a month this has been the most rewarding, hard, scary and fulfilling thing I have done in a very long time. I hope all of you are feeling fulfilled and proud too. Keep up the good work!
