    NSV moment

I spent yesterday at the dreaded Mall with my two granddaughters looking for a dress for the 14 yr old to wear in a pageant she will be in next Sat. 40 lbs ago I could not have walked that Mall more than a few minutes without sitting down to rest.. I did not sit one time.. so your NSV is awesome.. it's a wonderful feeling to be able to participate in life instead of sitting on the sidelines and sweating lol...keep up the good work...

    NSV moment

That is an awesome NSV, congrats!
  3. Had a great NSV this weekend that I just had to share with a group that would understand. Spent the weekend in Green Bay for a football camp with my son. Temps were in the upper 70's/low 80's, sun shining, and a good amount of walking. Before my surgery I would have been sweating like a pig just getting out of the car. The walking would have killed me. This weekend I was able to keep up with my sons team when they were on the move and didn't sweat once, even sitting on the metal bleachers. Such a great feeling. Thanks for letting me share. Jen
  4. Congratulation anytime you have those NSV you should Celebrate. I just love tnot having to use a belt extender on a plane, not having to walk side ways down the airplane aisle. Not losing my breathe when walking down the jetway.

    Best non-scale victory

fp9107 a few of my favorite NSV's..... health problems being gone no more huffing and puffing able to easily pick up something i dropped!!! new found self-confidence "forgetting" where the plus size section is Kohl's having someone "almost" not recognizing the new me sitting in the middle of 3 people on airplain - with plenty of room on each side of me in the seat sitting in a restaurant booth sitting in a seat at the movies knowing there are many more NSV's in my future being the happiest, best person i've ever been kathy
  9. Ok, so first I have went from a size 40 pants to a 36....they are getting loose!!! I keep getting stopped by coworkers and they tell me I am looking skinny and asking how I am doing it. Feels so awesome!! The big one is that I just did a 5k walk this morning, my first official 5k! I finished in 51mins, my 12yr old daughter finished 52mins, 6yr old daughter 1hr 4mins, and wife made it 1hr 5mins!! It was so much fun! Next weekend there is another one our family is going to do. Can't wait! The pic in the blue shirt is just before surgery on pre-op diet, the white shirt pic is from this morning.

I now have a new NSV goal on my list. Yee-haw!!!
  13. I think my best NSV is NOT feeling heart palpitations and out of breath everyday like I'm going to die soon.
  14. Hi all! I started C25K two as soon as I got clearance from my doc in August 2011. I was stuck at certain stages, I thought I'll die on the treadmill a few times - but I finished it by November. 2011. Then I became ambitious and started the next step: bridge to 10K.... By December 2011 I ran myself into the ground running 8-8.5k three times a week as the program advanced. I had to stop - which became a 6 month hiatus. I started again last June but it was a mighty struggle.... In December 2012 my left knee rebelled and became inflamed so much I couldn't even walk unless my knees were strapped up. At that point my hubby got me vouchers for a full biomechanical and physio analysis at the Running School (how toughtful, hey? Grrrr...). I finally went in February this year - and looking at their findings I wonder how could I "ran" even the shortest distances or times???? It looked absolutely awful - but more importantly my "running" style was the cause of my knee inflammation and other various pains I've been experiencing and could have gotten worse if I carried on "running" like that. Running for me is the epitome of love-hate relationships: before my surgery you wouldn't catch me dead on a treadmill or in the local park! I would have never ran to catch the last bus!!! I had awful flashbacks from junior high PE classes... So it is a personal goal for me: I must learn to LOVE running. Now, there is a potential NSV to achieve!! I signed up for the Running School's program. I'm having my fifth session in two hours. And let me tell you this: the BEST £260 I've ever spent! It's bloody though!!! but I'm definitely progressing from Nelly the Elephant towards Tinkerbelle - and it doesn't just LOOK better: it is becoming soooo much easier and kinder on my (still big-ish) body! I feel so much lighter on my feet while running, I quit bouncing, there is hardly any impact on my joints - it feels fabulous! And do you want to know the best and scariest thing? I ACTUALLY run: running starts at 6mph (9.6kmph). Anything under this speed is not running.... I did my c25k and b210k at the average speed of 4-4.5 mph. So when my trainer at the Running School told me that we are going to start at 6 and progress the speed from there I nearly fainted.... After 4 sessions I'm up at 6.3-6.5 average. I still cannot comprehend it fully! My advice is this: doing a running program is great as it gives structure you can follow. But if you thinking of taking up running more frequently or aiming for more mileage please have a pro look at your running style before you injure yourself unknowingly. You will not regret the investment! Now I'm off to school - Running School, that is Sent from my KFTT using LapBandTalk

    Bathroom Stalls~NSV

Actually, I discovered a new NSV yesterday - I can now comfortably "hover" again. You ladies know what I mean. Whew!
  16. So...I had three doctor appointments today. A mammogram first, then a visit to the lapband surgeon for a follow up visit, and then the rheumatologist to discuss the knee and hip pain. Great NSVs at the breast imaging center. I fit fine in the narrow seats in the waiting room. Last time, I had to sit on the couch...the chairs were too tight. Then was able to wrap an XL gown around myself with no issues while the last time, I had to put on two 2XL gowns, front to back, back to front, so I could cover up. Then...off to the surgeon. Lost 23 lbs in two months....59 total since pre-surgical diet. Doctor said I am doing exceptionally well especially as I've not had any fills. Now I'm literally floating on air and heading to my next appointment. So, I get to the rheumatologist....and that's when I got a big old dose of reality. He put me on methotrexate and told me to take four pills a week even though based on my weight, I should really be on six pills but he wanted to start me off at a lower dose and go up if needed. That kinda burst my bubble. I knew going into this lapband thing, that I needed to lose at least 100 lbs. but I was feeling so good until he brought me back to Earth with that comment that I should be on more meds based on my size. Not to worry...I'm not letting this get me down, it's just that while we may know in our world, how well we are doing, the rest of the world still sees us as fat. I can't wait to not be fat. I'm not interested in being skinny...I'm just soooo done with being fat.

    Failure

You are recognizing recent eating behaivor's not conducive to your new lifestyle.....success! You are in "Onderland"...success (I am still having trouble getting there and I am 1 pound away)! You have lost 56 pounds in 11 months.....success! Stop thinking about your progress as slow or failing and think about all the successes in your life...including the small NSV's. Our attitude's play a huge part in this. I find 2 things everyday that I pat myself on the back for. This could be taking a walk (yay me) or logging my food for the day (whatever the calories are...I have logged it). These are all successes for me!

    Bathroom Stalls~NSV

What wonderful NSV's to look forward too!!!! As it is, I'm such a germ-a-phob that I cringe if I have to even use a public restroom but then having the back of my legs hit the toilet as I'm squishing my fat body in to shut the door just has me immediately take my pants off when I get home & toss in the washer! LOL! I'm sure at nearly 300 lbs, I probably wouldn't even fit in an airplane restroom anymore either! I'm so excited for your NSV's tho ladies!!! Keep them coming!!! Give us all hope!!

    Bathroom Stalls~NSV

I thought I was the only one that felt this way about those stupid little stalls! There is actually a chair in our office that I avoid sitting in because the arms of it dig into my legs and hurt. I sat in it yesterday and not only did it NOT hurt, I FIT!! lol! Yay for NSV's!
  20. I cannot be the only one that absolutely hates the “small bathroom stalls”…..You know the ones where you have to straddle the toilet to open the door and when you sit down your thighs and arms hit the side…..Well yesterday, I had to use the “small stall”….I started to sweat and was over come with panic as i entered... Then I sat down…WOW what the hell, I had enough Room!!!! WOW for NSV!! I love my sleeve, today anyway….

When do you workout and why?

It's the time of year in Florida when we get a lot of company. Spring breaks up north drive them down here. Others just come down because they are sick of the cold! Also, I just finished finals from one semester, had a quick week of time off, and now back into another semester. So my time has not been my own as of late. I pop in once in a while but don't have time to keep up with the conversations. Think of everyone here often during the day - like between meals when I'm struggling with hunger pangs and I imagine the encouragement each of you would give me or when I accomplish a NSV.

    Rollercoaster NSV!

Yay for you! I love NSVs! It must have felt so great to fit in them!
  24. I was lucky enough to receive free tickets from my company for Busch Gardens Tampa Bay this last weekend. I was afraid to try a rollercoaster at first, the last time I went to a theme park I barely fit in them. Between that time and my surgery I had gained quite a but of weight. I am happy to say that the two coasters I tried, I fit in! yippee!
  25. Been in meetings all week and realized yesterday that my suit jacket was quite comfortable when buttoned even when I sat down. And it's a size 16! Yay me! Love that clothes are fitting better. Down 50 lbs.
