Ok so i had my 3rd fill one month ago. I now have 5.6CC and in the first week i lost 4lbs.....and that is it!!:smile2: Once i started eating solids i have maintained. In total i have lost about 35lbs..in the last 7 months. i am only 1/3 away from my goal and i have ZERO restriction. One night i was able to eat about 10oz of MEAT! and to top it off i had about 2oz of mash potatoes. I have been keeping to 1200-1500 cal per day and about 65+ grams of protein. I am working out 2-3 times a week. I just started going to Zumba classes and at home i work on tummy crunches. It just seems my body is refussing to give up any FAT. I have not been perfect with the Diet.... with 3 small kids it seems i am always surrounded by food and so i find myself eating cookies, crackers, godfish, chips... and ofcourse those things go down well:sneaky: I have my next appt in 4 weeks. I would be somewhat happy to be able to loose a total of 10 lbs before then. I am guessing my Dr will give me another 1CC... I read alot of blogs and hear people say that they " are at their sweet spot" I would truely be happy if i could loose 1 lbs a week...more importantly to see iches come off!! I hope soon i will be able to have a more positive Blog. thanks for hearing me out... its good to vent!:wink2:

Excited... But A Little Unsure....
Dooter replied to fcslboy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're like a lot of the rest of us, at 43 you'll end up at 350, or even 400. That's 10 years from now. Not to be negative or a downer, but that's been the reality for me. My losses were rewarded with triple gain. I wish I'd had this done 10 years ago. The "not being able to eat" (for me it was 5 weeks) is so very temporary, and TOTALLY worth it!! It goes by like a blip on a radar screen and you'll barely remember what it was like as you start trying on smaller and smaller clothing! Just sayin'...... you could do it....easy. -
hoping for lap band to sleeve
1959JimmyJames replied to lauriearnold's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am a band to sleeve revision. On Monday, I will be 6 weeks post-op. I had a band for 10 years. If you pull up my profile you can access my story. I explained all of my troubles before the sleeve surgery in that section. So far I have not had any complications and I am feeling really good now. I am back on a regular diet again. I worry about the leaking problems too so I try to follow the food plan and just hope that I don't feel any leaking symptoms. My surgery was done at one time. He removed the band, performed the sleeve procedure, and repaired a hiatal hernia. It's still pretty new to me. Maybe someone else can help you with your questions. Good luck to you. -
Any Road Warriors? Need advice
iegal replied to June 6 Working Mom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi; Fellow road warrior here. I was traveling 6 working days after surgery, but I was very tired. Understand your energy level will not be the same, so don't expect to work a full day with clients and then go back to the room to set up next day appt or paperwork. You will need to rest and recover. Most important factor of recovery is not to get dehyrated. I would always stop and pick up a G2 or sugar free electrolyte drink that I could sip on in my coffee mug throughout the day & in my meetings. I scheduled a lot of sit downs. Okay to order a drnk, like tea and explain you are eating lighter or something else. Gets you out faster and back to room You can pick up muscle milk at a lot of convience stores, in a pinch I would order a sugar free vanilla latte from SB with 10 grams of protien and under 150 calories. The key is good planning. I am confident you can do this with preparation and by sticking to goals. I love my sleeve - no regrets. -
Couple new to the whole WLS. Our details, need advice!
T'snewstart replied to TandT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi and welcome..... Sleeve , I have had gerd for years. I got the sleeve surgery and have no regrets! I still have to take a daily anti acid pill. However, this is normal for at least 50% of all wls patients. my insurance required me to take 3 months of classes. in those classes we were told in most cases the sleeve is the best surgery. The facts are with the sleeve it is expected in 2 years post op for patients to lose 50 - 70% of their excess weight. With the by-pass the expectations are 60 - 80 % of the excess weight. In most cases even diabetics were recommended the sleeve. As any significant weight loss will regulate their sugar. So considering there is only a 10% difference in the amount of weight loss the decision was easy for me. Just a side note I had my sleeve surgery a little more than 5 months ago. I have already lost 40 % of my excess weight. It is true any wls surgery is just a tool..... the results come from how you use that tool. I hope this info helps! Best Wishes Tina -
Introduction to the Forum

Hi Doreen, you sound just like me. I too am a nurse and of course your entire family expects you to take care of them too so you never have time to care for yourself. I'm 5 days post op and on day 2 post op as I was taking my 2 am stroll of the hospital halls I broke down in tears wondering what the heck did I just do? I couldn't believe I let someone take out most of my perfectly healthy stomach!!!! That lasted all of 10 minutes and then I was fine! Since then I have been excited, motivated, and POSITIVE I did the right thing. Even my husband told me last night how incredibly proud he is of me and how courageous I am and that meant everything in the world to me. We are going to be some super hot and healthy nurses rockin those hospitals now!!! Congrats and stay in touch. I'm addicted to this website. ❤❤❤❤ -
I checked off another requirement today!! Woot! I had an endoscopy today with my surgeon. It was rather easy but as the day has gone on my throat is getting more and more sore. Drinking lots of COLD H2O is helping. I also spoke to my patient advocate who let me know that we are a go for Dec 2019 (that’s month 6 so I was scared we wouldn’t get it in- it trying to rush the process but want to make the most of the whole “deductible” thing) Woot! I am to call in November to get a date but it’s starting to feel real!! Anyone else get giddy when they check off something on the pre-op list or am I just being a nerd? Soo ready for this to be behind me!!

Why after 10 months I am still constantly belching? It has become so normal I don't even realize I am doing it. Last night in bed my husband said, " I could not stand to belch like that all the time!". So he was saying I am sick of listening to this. What am I doing to cause this? I even belch after I drink.

The first night in the hospital I had trouble going to the restroom. The nurse turned up the Fluid and it started to help me go but.......the next night after I had been going to the restroom all day the fluid wasn't turned down. I being me, didn't realize that it needed to go back down and was up peeing ALL NIGHT! Seriously, I would no more than get into the bed strap my legs back up to the "no clot" things and I'd be having to undo them withing 10-15 minutes. I should have called the nurse but didn't realize it at the time. UGH! My doc came in the next morning and I told him and he asked , "Well why are you still hooked up to this thing?" My ingenious answer, " I don't know!" So, that was my second night. The first night I couldn't sleep, to much anxiety. I walked probably every half hour except for two times that I actually was able to sleep one whole hour at a time! The nurses were great and so attentive but I was so glad to get home Friday. Home for three days now and doing OK as far as I can tell. Unfortunately, this is my last week for some summer classes that I have been taking so I can't just be a total veg and sleep as much as I would like to do so!

Juneteenth Week Surgeries (June 19)
PrettyThick1 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd like to know how many people are being banded the same week as I am - June 19th? Not sure how many of your know the significance of this day, but I find it ironic that it will be the beginning of my personal liberation. Some say it's not a good day, considering the history - I don't see it that way. Although freedom came 2.5 years late for slaves on the gulf coast of Texas, it came and should be commemorated. Just as I have waited my entire life to be free from extra weight, it will be a day that I commemorate for as long as my band does what it should do for me. If you've never heard of Juneteenth, it was a pivotal time in our nation's history, even moreso for African Americans. In Galveston, Texas (where it actually occurred) it is commemorated by the original declaration of freedom being read on the same mansion steps it was heard from by thousands of Galveston, Texas slaves in 1865. (The mansion is so amazing, it's hard to imagine it being a plantation, it looks like a castle). There are theories about why it took 2 1/2 years for them to be freed - the most common belief is that the information was deliberately withheld - and why they had to ride through the entire state before making the announcement makes it even more logical since they passed millions on their way across nearly 800 miles. While it angers some, it is a part of history that should not be forgotten. Thanks girls and boys, I hope you enjoyed your history lesson for today! -
Well I started my journey at 315 lbs pre surgery. I got to 275 on surgery day with 10 months of dietician. Today I am exactly two months post op. And it made my day this morning to weigh in at 239!!!!! I cant ever remember being this weight. Besides buying new clothes and having them not fit in a month this has been the most rewarding, hard, scary and fulfilling thing I have done in a very long time. I hope all of you are feeling fulfilled and proud too. Keep up the good work!

Lapband scheduled but waffling!
Sdaviscs replied to marymaz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with Sue. I can't face me in 10 years with another 100 lbs added...despite trying everything else. -
Im brand new to this page but felt it would be great to get some support from those sharing the experience. Ive been overweight most of my adult life but its been in the past few years that things have gotten bad. Ive tried every diet there is 3 times over with little success. Ive been hypnotised, had diets prepared based on my blood type, seen dietians, seen psycologists and nothing works long term. Ive come to my own conclusion that I need to be physically stopped eating. And this seems like my best option. Im booked for my sleeve surgery on the 26th of July. Until today Ive felt nervous, unsure and a bit scared. But Ive started on Optislim today and I now feel like my journey has final started and Im ready to get this done! Having said that, today has sucked! I was fine this morning but once I got past lunch time, I started to feel heady and yuck. My worst time to eat is night time when my kids and husband are in bed, so Im nervous about how Im going to go tonight. Im also a bit fearful of those first few weeks post surgery. And I spend a lot of time wondering what the long term impacts of this surgery will be - like 10 years +. My surgeon said there isn't much scientific data beyond 5 years so I do wonder what the impact could be on my 30 years from now. Having said that, I realise that if I continue to put on weight there is a good chance I wont be here in 30 years! Anyway, thanks for reading my first post. Ill look forward to any thoughts/suggestions/tips anyone may like to share!

Hey Donna, Oh babe I know everything you said to me I know already!!!! My cousin had her op two weeks before me and she has lost a whopping 27kgs I spent christma day with her and that when I thought ok wake up call you need to sort this. The beach idea is a good one I do live by the bay but time is my enemy working full time with four little ones and a sometimes 2hr commute both ways to work. I am a nurse and should know better but I have been cycling 10 mins each morning including this morning new years day before I headed to work!!!! how good am I and a half hour swim/frolic in the pool with my boys when I get home......the amazing thing is even in less than a week I feel like I have more energy. And my boys love mum in the pool with them. Thank you for replying to my thread hunny I appreciate it.....glad I found this group. All the best for a lighter fitter 2009 xxxxx -
Note to self... NO STOCKING UP. Got it! I am really into makeup and all that jazz, so one of the things I am booking before surgery is to get eyelash extensions so when I wake up, I'll feel all pretty. lol On a scale of 1-10, how bad was the pain after? I was thinking of just bringing flowing dresses, would yoga pants be too constricting on the wounds? I plan on walking as soon as I wake up, I'm afraid of a blood clot forming so I plan to WALK WALK WALK! I really appreciate y'alls input.

Surgery Date Is Finally Here

Hey guys thanks so much. I just want to say I'm home. I came out the hospital the next day and I feel about 80% well and to add to that I loss 10 lbs yayyyy me -
I live with my husband and inlaws (and kids). My MIL is heavy. My hubby is heavy. They both are extremely happy for me in my successes, but at the same time, there IS a bit of jealousy. My hubby doesn't come across as such, but 4 months postop, he suddenly starts a diet himself My MIL bounces between sticking her tongue out at me at the mention of my losses, and celebrating cheek bones. I weigh every day. I write my weight on the calendar once a week. I've only mentioned my actual weight to my MIL about 4 times. She guesses (always 10 pounds off one way or the other), then I'll tell her... I guess it's about once a month. My hubby was trying to guess yesterday, but I didn't want him to feel bad, so I brushed past the #s issue and dug down to the important part of the conversation. Even though the eating and weight and process are all-engrossing for us, it's important to minimize the process' importance around other people. Learn how to communicate information and gratitude for compliments, but don't let the conversation get bogged down talking about you.

Watch those nuts. Sneeky buggers. I find they stick with me way to long and hinder weight loss. It is also very easy to eat more of them than you intend. HW 420 SW 347 CW 334 Sleeved April 10, 2017

I use the GNC pro performance AMP chocolate powder (amplified wheybolic extreme 60) mixed with skim milk and it really does taste like chocolate milk. I DO 2 scoops to about 8-10 ounces of skim milk (I was doing half skim and half water but it depends on how I feel). Each scoop has 20 grams of protein. Three scoops has 280 calories. I bought the small bag first and if you do not like it, GNC will take it back. I also drink the Isopure clear protein drinks but some flavors are terrible. I drink the grape (tastes like weak koolaide). And the pineapple-orange-banana. But they are best super cold over ice and if you are preop and allowed to use straws they are not so bad. Each 20 ounce bottle has 40 grams of protein. These too are available at GNC. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

A machine that vibrates and exercises your muscles, you stand on the plate or take different poses and different sets of muscles are exercised. You only use it for 10-15 mins and it is supposed to be the same as a full gym workout. You might call them something different in the US, I live in UK

If you travelled for surgery, how long did you stick around after?
kjkashmaniac replied to mbuczkowski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you see Dr Shillingford? Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App Sorry I'm still trying to figure out how to reply to people. Yes, Dr Shillingford did my surgery on 10-24. Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App I have a consultation in Orlando on Nov 10, but if too high (I think they charge ~15k), I may go to Boca Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App I can only speak for my experience with Dr Shillingford and his office but they did everything to make my life easier. I had an initial phone consult with Nancy and she schedule a phone consult with Dr Shillingford. I did my two week pre op diet and the Friday before my surgery I went down and had an appointment with the Dr just to meet him and his staff and go over any questions/concerns I had. I went and did my pre op lab work the same day and then on Monday I had my surgery. They made it very convenient to only have to drive down once. His staff Nancy and Elba are amazing. I can email them and I know I'll get an answer within a few hours. They are super kind and knowledgeable. Also depending on if you go down on the right weekend. A woman from the hospital does a seminar on Saturdays. She goes over everything to expect. Unfortunately I went on a weekend that she didn't have class... the great thing is that she came to my hospital room and sat down with my husband and myself and went over everything. The hospital is good. The bariatric staff was really nice and took really good care of me. Bariatric patients have their own wing and everyone gets their own room. Also visiting hours are 24/7 so if someone is accompanying you, they can stay in the hospital with you and you don't have to pay for a room at a hotel if your budget conscious. Anyway that's enough ranting for now. If you have any questions please message me, I'm most certainly happy to talk with you about the Dr and what to expect with him! 2nd Fill too tight? someone help with advice?
jla78 replied to SeattleCindy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Cindy, You might be too tight. You should be able to eat solid foods, just not much of them. However, you could also just not be chewing as much as you need to with a really good fill. If you can get liquids down, that's a good sign. Practice chewing a lot during meals for a week--chew 25 times, put your fork down for a minute in between bites. If after a week, you can still only drink liquids, and it's been 5 weeks since your fill, I'd call your doctor and discuss having some fill taken out. It's not a big deal at all to have it taken out--no more than putting it in, as long as your doctor is experienced. Hope this helps!! By the way, what is an italian soda? If it has carbonation, you might want to talk to your doctor about--most doctors have us stay off carbonated beverages. Good luck! Janeen 10/18/02 Dr. Ren, NYU Medical Center 306/221/206mg/165g
