I just had a HUGE NSV last night! A family picture! Actually my first one ever really, and I am sad to say my kids are 9 & 8.

Thanks Laura - you too!!! It looks like we both have about the same amount to go. It is very exciting that people are noticing how we look now rather than being the invisible fat person (or unisex!). I am very happily married yet it is nice to be noticed :frown: May we both experience many more NSV's!!! wombat

Good morning all, Just wanted to share an exercise/fitness NSV. I ran the Hot chocolate 5K this past Sunday in Chicago, and my time was 43:48. Last year, pre-VSG, I did a 5K (walked pretty much the entire thing) and came in at 53:55. This time I was able to do a substantial amount of running/jogging, and shaving 10 minutes off my time felt awesome! Yay! I guess next time I need to shoot for under 40 minutes

Going into a bathroom stall and having room to move around is probably one of my favorite NSVs. It used to be hard to even close the door on some of the smaller stalls. Congrats on all of your NSVs, Dooter!

ONNNNNNNNEEDDEERRRRRRRRRLLAAANNNNNNNNDD!!!!! I am thrilled to have reached onederland! I have not been here for at least a decade! The first 40 pounds to come off after VSG have been off and back on several times over the years. But I am finally past that point and I could not believe it! Last week I posted a NSV about a towel and finally felt like I too was experiencing some of the successes I was reading that others experienced. It really helped me start to believe that I too could succeed with this. Now at onederland, I am beyond excited and really feel I CAN reach goal. I am getting lots of comments from people on the way I look, no only about my weight, but about looking happy and healthy, etc. I think my increased confidence is showing. I feel so liberated from from the constant negative background chatter that told me that no matter what I accomplish I am such a failure. It is THE BIGGEST WEIGHT this VSG has lifted. I have a ways to go but I really believe I will ge there. Thank you all for your posts, stories and encouraging messages. They have really helped me stay focused, helped commiserate in the downs, and have uplifted my spirits when I needed it. Best wishes to everyone on this journey! May the pounds continue to fall off!!! -- and stay off for those of you in maintenance! Below, evidence

Myra – Good luck with your barium swallow. Keep us posted! I wish you the best. Marz – keep us posted on your fill – hopefully this one hit the sweet spot. Missy – Your trip sounds awesome. I have not been on a mission trip since high school. You will be in my prayers. Marci – I don’t puke after drinking something cold but it is harder for me to get it down. My doctor told me to start out with hot tea to loosen the mucus from the pouch and open it up well. Then drink Water, etc. Do you start out with something hot and then switch to something cold? Just a thought if you haven’t tried it. Maybe your pouch is just a little stubborn and needs coaxing to handle colder drinks. I am officially 2 weeks out from my last fill and I am freaking out. I started out around 192 and by the first week was down to 188. I weighed yesterday and I was 192 and today I am 194. My TOM is upcoming but I have never gained that much. I just don’t get it. I have great restriction and I was thinking I might need to increase my calories more because I may not be getting enough to lose. I am chugging water this morning, hoping it is all water weight and will just be flushed out with enough peeing! Is there a January challenge? I didn’t get on in time for the Turkey Take Off. If we don’t have one, is everyone game for doing one after Thanksgiving? Oh yeah, major NSV to report. I went to Old Navy on Sunday and bought a pair of size 14 jeans! WAHOO! My bottom half is finally catching up with my top half!

You can't remember your passwork to LBT:smile: Yep, it's been too long. I really took a break in December and am now trying to lose the 5 lbs I gained. Don't let anyone tell you you can't gain weight when you are banded. Anyway, it's a new year, my 6 months bandiversary is on the 15th and I have lost 52.5. Will have lost 55 when this last 2.5 lb gain goes away I'm back to planning meals, staying away from snacks and will make another fill appt. if I don't stay on track. Bought myself a walking tape and have walked 4 or last 5 days. Great I know except my foot hurts like #@$#*&^:w00t: Anyway, I'm going to keep it up. My goal is to do a 5k walk by my 50th BD in May. My other goal is another 15 lbs gone by then. I know staying in touch here will help me reach both of those. Couple of NSV's to start the new year.... I can now take my blood pressure with a regular size cuff instead of stretching the BIG cuff to the max. I can get up and down with my beautiful grandson all day long and not feel like I'm dying. I can wear my winter clothes that would not fit last year. I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year and wish 2010 to be a year of great health and happiness to all of you.

3/25/09 Get Your Head In The Game
voiceomt2002 commented on Band_Groupie's blog entry in The Sweet Spot
Not to be a buzz kill, but head hunger happens even after banding. You're right though, my choices in "cheating" have changed. I know I can't have some of DH's sub sandwich because dense bread and my stoma don't play well together, so I steal just the meat! LOL! Sure, some of my choices are just plain bad, but I can't pig-out-binge until the whole bag of cookies is gone anymore. Does such naughtiness slow down my weight loss? Yes. Does it kill it? Not so far. Yes, I'm a paranoid Scale Whore and will be for many years to come, but the NSV's keep me pretty much on the path to healthy weight and well-being. Speaking of which, Time for me to go ride my exercise bike! I'm stiff and sore from running up and down the steps of the theatre last night. Me! Running! It's a miracle! -
What a great post! Excellent NSVs!

April Bandsters - How are you doing?
AlottaBS replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! I was banded 4/20/10. 4 wks post op tomorrow. I'm trying different foods. Still haven't tried bread or rice. So far everything has gone down well. However, I'm having trouble with the not drinking with meals and being hungry about 2 hrs after eating. My first fill is 6/7 when I return from vacation. I've lost about 27 lbs since my first dr. appt on 2/2. I'm down a shirt size and my pants are looser so the NSV are a nice side effect! I'm glad to see all the posts here so I know I'm not the only one wondering if all this is "normal". Still burping a lot but no pain around the port area and all systems seem to be working ok! Thanks for starting the thread. I'd like to keep in touch. -
April Bandsters - How are you doing?
Karlzmom replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing well. My energy is back and even a bit of the endurance, which really took a hit immediately post-op. The scale continues to move down, but this week was only 1/2 lb...had to fight the irrational panic that this is a failure too...so, I have to accept the NSV of wearing a dress, with room to spare, to a party yesterday that I couldn't fit into for a wedding the week before surgery. When I got home a reflected on the party, I was amazed that food was not the primary focus for me, and that I enjoyed myself tremendously. I've started back at Curves, slow..but doing my routine. Still not eating more than 1/3 at any time..not really interested in food, so no fill scheduled yet. Journaling a lot and trying to deal with some of the emotional issues including friends who are clearly not dealing well with my changes. I've been reading Confessions of a Former Fat Girl...good read, lots of food for thought. Still settling into the new eating patterns, finding something that will work is a bit tricky as I go out for lunch as part of my professional comittments, but it just keeps getting easier to make the right choices. -
First Ever Nsv Only 6 Days Out From Surgery!
mylifeinpink posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am so so so happy and blessed to report that my feet do not hurt anymore at all! I had such bad edema and plantar facitis, I was seeing a physical therapist 2 days a week for the pain! Pain is GONE! 21lbs down, and I am feeling very good about my surgery! I have a slight feeling that this is going to be the very best investment I have ever made in myself! -
Over 300 pounds, when did you notice a difference?
Kiap82 replied to Kiap82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm looking forward to all of these things. I'm just so impatient. I should be happy that I've started the journey and the rest will come. I've already changed so much. I quit smoking, kicked my carb craving, decided to leave the job I hate for the one I really want even though it's less money, I'm tracking all of my food, not letting my sometimes boyfriend upset/mistreat me anymore, and soon I'm moving back to Texas where I really want to be. All within the last month. If I can add patience to this list, 2014 will really be the year of the NSV and SV for me. -
Over 300 pounds, when did you notice a difference?
RJ'S/beginning replied to Kiap82's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The first time I was on a plane that I did not need an extender was in Nov...i had my hubby take a pic...so I would have it..The table fit too..I always shared his when we were on a plane.. I was hurting my back driving my car and was told to pull the seat up...I always had the seat the farthest out and now it is the closest you can get....My hubby and I war over that now..... I sat in the tiniest booth a couple of weeks ago..I always surveyed a restaurant to see if they had tables and chairs and left if they only had booths.....So many changes...So many amazing NSV.....I could never even count them all -
What a wonderful NSV! So many people wait for that exact moment. How wonderful for you.

NSV #1: Hahaha, Wednesday night I was walking from work to the gym about 3 blocks away and was wearing my leggings and a Tshirt, damned if I didn't get a freaking cat whistle. LOL Lets just say that made the workout just a little bit more easy that night. NSV #2: I was waiting outside the office building last night for my friend to pick me up for dinner and decided to touch up my make up, compact mirrior in hand and appling my lip gloss, I look up and in a passing car a man was looking at me, smiled and gave me a thumbs up. LOL definately made me smile.

Thanks, y'all. I know my weight loss is a lot less than others at six months, but the NSVs keep me going. As does reading this board.
