My program asks us to hold off for 6 weeks... Glad you're not in THAT program, I'll bet! Likely whatever is comfortable will be fine. NSV is "non-scale victory', like fitting (again) into favorite jeans...

will my brain ever catch up?
cupcakebabe84 replied to kristinc1985's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had this very thought just yesterday. I have been getting so many compliments at how thin I'm getting but right behind those comments are " and your clothes look too big for you to be wearing to work anymore" so I decided to head on over to New York and Company. I automatically head to the far right end of the rack to grab the biggest size that I would wear from that store which was an 18/ 20, Turns out I am down to a 12. I couldn't believe my eyes and had to re check the size on the tag. Yup, I'm wearing a 12! Yay... So putting on clothes that fit helps me realize the changes I have gone through. Hard work, sweat and even pain are paying off. It's like they say no pain no gain! Congrats to everyone on your NSV's.... -
Now that IS an NSV to celebrate! Not too TMI for this crowd. Keep Pimpin that Sleeve!

I was banded 12/3/13 and had revision 2/8/13 due to kink in tubing. I am happy to say I'm 58lbs down. I am having trouble seeing the changes just yet but I can feel the changes. My knee hasnt hurt in awhile, I have more energy, and NSV was when we went to Disney 2 weeks ago and kept up with my 5yr old daughter without even breaking a sweat. This is the first time I have attached before/after pics and I am nervous about doing that lol.

I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(

Can you think back and remember why you wanted the surgery! What were your goals, dreams, plans? What are your NSVs so far? How do you reward yourself? Maybe think really short term and each time you eat on plan or exercise, give yourself a small reward like buy an app for your phone or a track on iTunes. Also maybe you can make a list of pros and cons about eating back on track vs staying the same. I find that if I write it down, it is more powerful for me. You took an awesome first step by coming here to get support! Bravo! -
Hey all... Wow time has really flown by! I can't believe how long it has been since i have updated my little blog here. I am sorry I have been so busy and distracted. Well for my numbers! I am 10 weeks out and have lost 62lb! I have gone from a 47BMI to a 37BMI. I am very happy with my results. I don't think I would call my self a supper fast looser, but I am keeping it steady. Other thank a 3 weeks stall somewhere in the middle, I have been loosing about 3lb a week. That I can live with I have gone from a size 22/2X to a size 18/XL I am so happy! And everyone is really starting to notice the changes. I think that is one of the most encouraging things... I have also begun to really like exercise! I have started going to Zumba once or twice a week depending on my schedule... I just love it! For all of you girls out there who hate exercise but love to dance, this is for you! The friends you make at these classes are supper awesome! They keep you motivated, and wanting to come back. Its like a little support group all its own. At least that is how mine is, I really hope they are all like that... I know My Fitness Pall is my life saver and best friend lately... All of my friends who are on there supporting me every day are just wonderful! Thanks so much! You keep me going! If any of you want to follow me or need a little extra support of your own you can friend me on MFP my screen name is the same. amberlydw8 I have some new NSV's over the past few weeks... NSV for me today! Putting laundry away and on a whim tried on my 14 yr old daughter's jeans. They fit! She's 2 inches taller and 25 lbs lighter-no idea how that works... I'll never tell her though. She'd be HORRIFIED (eye roll!)

anncharlie replied to soumahoro551's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
are you really 57??? omg... if you are...you look good girl... I am 55 and I had the sleeve ... I am down 32 lbs too... and at a stall ... I think my friend is coming... yes I still have that friend... lol I think our bodies drop the weight so quickly ... it needs time to regroup... there are so many NSV right now though to compensate for the slow down... like... fitting into smaller sizes in pants and tops.... OMG.... plus MORE ENERGY.... I am a happy camper at this point... -
I have similar feelings. After having lost 57 pounds since Jan all I can see is my new turkey neck, bat wing arms, saggy stomach, and jelly thighs. I am ecstatic about the weight loss but still have 43 pounds to go and hard to picture what these areas will look like then. I never realized how much gravity can affect us. I am already saving to take care of these side effects . The good is that I have had a lot of NSV's. Can now take a bath without getting stuck getting out, I can sit in a chair with arms, my clothes are all falling off, I have a lot more energy, can walk up my stairs without getting winded, the list goes on.

stalled and overly emotional. aka - it's been a rough week
mamamareli replied to makemyownluck's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat as you-- weight wise. I lost 13 preop, 12 since surg on 5/8, nothing hit past week or so! Don't get discouraged! It's still so early, we will lose the weight. How could we not with how little we are consuming? Lets make a pact to put our scales away, weigh only once a week, and enjoy the NSVs. I'm thrilled to feel more in control of my food intake and have fewer cravings. Don't worry, we got this!!! PS: your profile pic suggests you are a beautiful, positive, happy girl! Be proud of yourself for starting this journey! -
I'm hoping to have the same NSV.. this friday.. can't wait to see if my butt fits... fingers crossed!!!!

Just quickly wanted to share my first NSV! I'm currently on a plane waiting to take off and.....I didn't need a seatbelt extender! I know many of you will agree when I say what a relief it is not to have to go through the ordeal of asking for one discreetly and hoping no one notices. :-)

Today I stopped by meijer with my seven year old to buy him some new boxers. I decided while I was there to purchase myself some summer pajamas since I don't have any. I avoided the plus size section, logically knowing they'd be too big. I picked up some XL and studied them for a second. My son isn't the most patient, so I couldn't try them on. I looked at that XL thinking they'd be too right, but knowing if they were "it wouldn't be long" until they looked decent. I got home, put them on, and they're actually slightly baggy. Is my brain ever going to catch up and compute that I'm the size I am now while clothes shopping? Lol! Do any of you others do this? I guess it's a good problem to have.... And a good NSV.

My mother managed to really, really hurt me today. She went off and told people about my surgery and how she felt about it. (Not positive mind you). I was so hurt and embarrassed...quite humiliated. So what did I do? I went home and attempted to over eat. Stuffing my feelings about her betrayal just like all the hundreds of times I have felt as though she has thrown me under the bus for the sake of juicy gossip. But (here's the good part) I stopped. I picked up the phone and very nicely but firmly told her that she hurt me, made me feel humiliated and embarrassed. I asked her to please never discuss my issues with anyone else and if I wanted to disclose information that it would be up to me to do so. She apologized (tears and all...this is a way for her to keep me from speaking my truth) and I accepted. And I thanked her for listening and accepted her apology. And then I felt better. I didn't need to eat anymore because I dealt with her in a constructive, positive way. And that is for me, a victory!

Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Congrats Misty! The weight loss and NSV's!!!! -
Oh my god you guys! I lost 4.5 kg this week. I am in SHOCK! Also an NSV. I have had lymphedema in my shins since a long plane trip I took in 2008. That means swelling that you can press your finger into and a mark stays for a while, like putty. It's weird. Anyway compression stockings would temporarily take it away but I never bothered wearing them because hello, ugly! And even though it was weird it didn't hurt or anything. Well it is GONE! I can feel my shin bones! Not sure why it is gone but it is. Also my blood sugar is still holding steady at 4.9. This is considered "high normal". If it sticks around for 3 months my A1C will also be high normal and I will basically be non-diabetic!

Couples getting VSG?
dgoerlitz replied to SamIAm3791's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband had the bypass at the end of September and I had the sleeve at the beginning of December. He is doing amazing...down 80ish pounds and off of nearly all his diabetes meds. I am down 74 pounds. It was...and still is...SO much easier for us to do this together! He went first, so he was a tremendous help the first few days when I was trying to figure out protein drinks and stuff like that. We had no problems with our insurance. It really helps us stay accountable too, since we are in this for the long haul and doing it together. At the same time, we are sharing very similar NSVs and really enjoying finding new things we can do together, and being able to do some of the things we used to do together again that we had stopped doing because of our weight. -
Yep.. children can be brutal reality checkers at times. God bless them of course, but it still hurts. OP... This is just NSV #1 with many to come! Yippee!
