  1. Hiya Chilo,

yea I am good... all good here in sunny Wales...lol

Lost 35lb now which is around 17kg so I am getting there!!

Work is ok, I have more energy when I get home now, so I am really starting to feel the benefits of losing some weight and getting fit!

How are you doing... glad you updated your ticker... you are doing soooo well in just 8 weeks (?) xx

  2. When I gulp instead of sip I get air in my stomach and I get a little bit of gurgling and the burps. Doesn't hurt but definitely noticeable.

No fat person is ever going to be satisfied with just liquids. I miss food. But when I have the slimfast and then jello.. I'm not hungry and every morning i get on the scale and I see it going down so that is what keeps me going. I have had a bite of egg and a bite of pizza. Both upset my stomach but within 5 minutes the gurgling was gone. Back to liquids for another week for me.

  3. I don't work yet. I took care of my mother for three years until she passed away in March and have been so busy doing probate and dealing with her stuff, I don't have time to work, too!

  4. Friday the 24th will be week 5. Everything has been going well so far. My only problem is that I have to crush my medicine to get it down and trying to get in my water intake. I have only lost 32lbs so far but I know in time it is coming off. I glad your surgery went well. Cheers to you!

  5. I had to go back to work this week, 11 days post surgery. I was very worried about how I'd do, and honestly, I think people need two weeks off of work. Part of each day I felt great, and there were other parts that were really kind of tough.

My weight loss has stalled, but I've decided to be okay with that. I'm still not getting in every bit of protein I'm supposed to, but I'm doing better.

How are you? Glad you're home and on the mend.

  6. Hey, Sleeve Sister! Just stopping by to check on you. I hope things are going well. I'm gearing up for the 3 week stall. eek! Take care!

  7. (It would not let me post the entire message, had to submit in two posts)

Thanks for the encouraging words:-) As of right now, my weight loss has slowed. I am 6 weeks post op and have lost a total of 41 pounds. Plus I have started to incorporate regular foods back into my diet, which was a lot of trial and error the first week, but now so far so good. However, I must admit that I have eaten nuggets at Chick-fil-a couple of times :-( and my weight loss has slowed (which I am a little concerned about) But other that, everything has been going well.

  8. Well six months out and doing good. The weight just keeps slowly coming off.

Down 72 lbs now. I am doing a lot of biking so I have also out on some muscle.

Just started lifting weights again a week ago so I expect to put some more weight with that.

Into 38 in. jeans now... and I don't know the last time that happened!

Bags and bags of my clothes to the thrift store... I refuse to spend much on clothes.

I going with one pair of jeans at a time through the journey...

I don't count carbs or cals at all and I am enjoying eating less food... cookies (life style kind) every day with my Tim Horton's coffee.

I would like to be down 100lbs by Christmas... It will be close!

    Blessings Russ

  9. Hey girlie! Yes I'm SOOOOOOOOOO much better these days. I've been walking 20 minutes everyday (up and down hill at park), cleaning, washing, cooking and basically back to normal now :). I go back to work on Monday :). Did you finish your options classes this week????

  10. I'm feeling great, specially because people are starting to notice a change :). I do get a little hungry sometimes but i junst take a couple sips of protein shake and I'm good to go. I am due to start with egg beaters and mash potatos this week and as mucho as i want to eat things with more consistency im afraid to stall or to not feel restriction. Let me know that your nut says in your next visit.

  11. Hey there,

I'm so glad your surgery went well!!! I am about two and a half weeks out and LOVE my sleeve. The whole surgery experience was kind of like getting tortured for a few days...lol.. But it all went great. I had no complications and was back to work in a week. Can't wait to hear an update from you!

    Take care,

    Nikki

  12. Hi I live in the UK, Newcastle upon Tyne. Have been sleeved nearly 7 weeks ago and am very happy with it. Feel free to send me a message or private message if you want to ask me anything, I'm more than happy to share my experience with you!

  13. Oooooo...those shoes are sexy! I don't know if I could wear something like that. My mom and I call them "Loca shoes." (crazy girl shoes). I didn't go to Khol's. I wound up at my local Goodwill. I heard the one by me has a lot of good stuff and they do! I got three pair of jeans for $11. The funny thing is I got maternity pants. I read somewhere they're good for people with an apple shape (likw me) and I have to say I love how they look.

  14. I'm doing ok. I'm just soo blah! I want to feel like myself again. I don't have any energy and really don't feel like being around anyone, That is sooooo not me!!! I go to my one week tomorrow and I'm excited to see what I have lost. Thanks for the lift! I needed it!!!!

  15. Isn't it a trip how little we eat???? OK you know this is not just for a few weeks or months but FROM NOW ON?? I just said this to my hubby last night. It's amazing!!!! We went to our favorite mexican whole in the wall and shared his plate (huevos rancheros). I had one of his eggs and 2 teaspoons of beans, crazzzzy right???? Before I would have had TONS of chips and salsa and a WHOLE plate to myself. It's kinda hard to wrap my mind around it seriously!!! But that's the way we are ultimatley going to reach our goal and MAINTAIN it :).

  16. So good to know about the shower! I got home Sun. afternoon.

Today has been my best day, but still not anywhere close to normal. I'm starting to get kinda emotional. I did really good on the liquid the week before, but it seems soooo much harder now! Evey night someone is bringing food for my family, and I just sit and smell it, and can't do a thing about it!! I just keep telling myself that its a little over 2 weeks and I'll start on soft foods. I'm sooo sick of protein. I really didn't think that was going to be a problem, but now I can't stand any of it.

    Need prayers!! Thanks!!! :)

  17. Tomorrow is the de-banding day. I'm scheduled for 1:45, although everytime I talk to someone, they make it earlier than the last person. LOL I should be back home tomorrow evening. I will have my sleeve either the week before you or the same week as you. Are you self-pay or insurance? If your self-pay, I might actually meet you since we'll be at the same facility, Forest Park. That is where I will be tomorrow, I'll let you know about it. I'm excited for you! Talk to you soon.

  18. Hey Barb - No date yet. We are still waiting to hear from insurance. I plan (hope) to have the same week as you if not the week before. I'm calling again tomorrow. I hope things went well for you today. Sorry I didn't see your message sooner.

  19. Hey Chancie! I just had someone come to visit us that brought me Body Fortress Cookies N' Creme from the states all the way to Nicaragua! I am so happy! I can't buy a protein powder here in Nicaragua and I wanted to get this one because you recommended it. Although I just got one so I don't think it will last that long... :-( I had a question. Do you just use it in coffee or have you had it any other way? In water? I'm only 4 weeks out and I didn't know if I should start drinking coffee yet. I'd like to, but everyone seems to tell me to wait. My other question is how do you do with the calories? This does have quite a bit of calories. 2 scoops = 290 calories. If you have two scoops how many calories do you usually have in food each day? You count these calories the same as food right? Thanks so much for your help! By the way, you look great! ;-)

  20. Norma

    Hi,

I am also a therapist. Have been sleeved for 1 week now. Did great with hypnosis for pain control and for some of the head issues around the pre-op diet and am having a very easy time of things right now.

  21. No dates yet. Surgery one, band removal, should be within the next 2 weeks, I hope. Surgery two, the sleeve, will hopefully be over my Christmas break so I can recover without having to miss work. I really liked that he wanted to do my revision in 2 procedures to lower my risk of leaks/complications. I'll post when I get my dates nailed down.

    Anna

  22. Barbara,

I think if I were you and couldn't be on solids before the Holidays, I would wait until right after Christmas. A week should be fine to recover. I will still tired the second week but was able to make it through each day. On day 15, it was like someone flipped a switch and I was back to my normal energy level. I wouldn't wait much longer knowing what I know now. I wish I would have met Dr. Nick years ago.

FYI - tonight we went out for burgers after a late soccer game (remember, I'm 3 months out). My husband ordered a burger and cheese fries. I ate about 1/10 of his burger and few of his fries. I am still stuffed and satisfied. Technically, I cheated, but only ate about a tenth of what I would have eaten prior to surgery. That's what I love about the sleeve, I can still have it just not much of it.

  23. Linda,

Thanks so much for taking time to respond. IT IS SO nice to have someone to talk to who has "been there." The rest of my immediate family doesn't have weight issues - hubbie, kids are all in great shape. My mom, etc... all have weight issues. I am excited about Dr. NIcholson's clinic on Wed. I will let you know how it goes. I am a teacher and hope to do the procedure on 12/28 so I can enjoy the holidays, and have a week to recoup before returning to work. What do you think? Is that enough time to rest before work? Also, I am a bit nervous about a really restrictive diet at the holidays, but I didn't want to wait until summer. I am not morbidly obese, I weigh 195, but I am only 5'2..., I would love to weigh 140ish. I have 55 lbs or so, but I would love to be able to enjoy the summer and wear shorts or maybe even a bathing suit and not be mortified!

  24. I was able to start solid food at 6 weeks. I have been doing really well with it and can each pretty much anything, if I eat small bites and don't eat too fast. I still start my morning with a protein drink too. Liquids seem to go down much easier than food in the morning. Today, I tried a protein hot chocolate mix with my morning coffee. 15 grams of protein in my coffee. Gotta love it. I also ordered the protein latte, can't wait to try it. I just finished working out, I'm off today and will drink my Nectar Protein drink in a bit. I have been bad the last couple weeks with my exercise. I have been working long hours on a project for work - just not enough hours in the day. Luckily, project ended yesterday - back to my normal routine. Good to hear from you. I enjoy reading your posts and following your progress mirror my own. Take care ad have an great weekend. Linda

  25. I am feeling really great, 1 week & 2 days post surgery and I am so pleased with my decision to have the surgery. My surgery took just under 2 hours and I was back in my ward and walking around that afternoon. I had pain for the first 24 hours but it was tolerable with pain relief medication. I have had very little nausea but again I have Zofran to take if I need it. Obviously I am still on liquids but I do not feel hungry at all. I am slowly getting my protein intake sorted, this is a little difficult. It is my 40th birthday today and other than the fact I cant enjoy cake with my family, I feel fantastic! Goodluck to you, get all the information you can and just be positive about the new life journey that awaits.
