Lo Profile Ports? all details welcomed
Band_Groupie commented on fitflab25's blog entry in My path to being comfy with my self in and out.
So sorry fit & peach, I forgot to come back here (PM me if you have more questions). The LB low profile is not out yet. (wish you could subscribe to individual posts on blogs) TMI, but in case you're interested: The new Realize band is in trials now but won't be widespread for awhile (port is the same). They fixed the problems with the shape by making it precurved like the LB and the increased the volume (9 to 11cc) so it's like the LB- a bigger range so they can tweak your sweet spot more accurately. But they kept the single balloon (I like the multiple ones the LB offers). I chose the LB (my doc offers both LB/Realize) and the doc will decide which size of LB when he does the surgery (APS or APL). I did a lot of research and prefer the LB. He also let me pick the placement of the port (he said it can go almost anywhere as long as it's not too far from the band. I chose a little L of center between my ribs and belly button line, his default is on the right). -BG -
I have been going though the same thing. My last fill was in October, but I have been going back and forth. One day I feel fine and then the next day I cannot eat all day. Finally in the evening I can eat a little bit. Anyway, I was having a lot of sinus/allergy problems and started taking Zyrtek and it seems to help. I was able to eat lunch and dinner today with no problems, and I actually feel hungry tonight. I was having a lot of Post Nasal Drip(I know TMI) but the allergy medicine seems to clear it up.....hopefully it continues to work.

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
sanflan replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
What a difference a day makes!!!!:w00t: Went to Boots in the evening yesterday and bought Panadol Extra for the pain (The only one to claim to be sensitive on the stomach as well as be dissovable in water). They worked a treat for the normal stitch pain etc I can't even begin to tell you. Also they really did not cause me any tummy troubles and the pills Dr Chris gave me seemed to be working as a laxative.. (TMI sorry) I also got some Spearmint Rennies for the trapped wind. With in an hour of taking them both, I just had this feeling... Of nothing. FOr the first time in days. It was amazing I was able to drink down my cup a soup with out feeling swollen and like i was choking it down, and just felt good. No horrible pain nothing. I even managed to sleep through the night and only woke up once from being a little sore. A miracle I tell you. Hope anyone else having the same problems as me gives them a go. I am amazed any over the counter medicines can work that well, when I felt soo sick!! -

Wow, I leave for a bit and I see the old gang back!!! What an encouragement for me to see you guys back online! I can't talk (or type) long, It hurts to sit. I had my surgery last week, its been 1 week since I said good-bye to my uteris (i know tmi), but already feel like a new woman. It hurts down below, and hurts to sit but for the most part doing pretty good. I did not get the tummy tuck, mainly because the doc that was going to do it couldn't fit me in until Feb and I had to have my surgery in January. I couldn't go another month, just couldn't do it, tummy tuck or no tummy tuck, big bertha (My Uterys (sp??) had to go!!!! She was causing me misery!!!!! Anyhow, I will check back when I can sit and type longer, I just wanted to pop in and say hello! OH, by the way, you would think that taking something out of me the size of a beach ball would cause me to LOSE weight, but I put on 12 pounds since surgery, then turned around and lost 7 overnight. I guess so much liquids pumped into me, made me gain. I did have to spend 2 nights in the hospital. Well, again, gotta go, hurts to sit, but I promise to check in later. Night Night.

Why do women have anal sex?
plain replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's not something the wife and I are into, but I had one ex that was HEAVILY into anal....like it was a fetish with her, or something (she said it felt more intimate)....and one ex that (when she found out I had some experience with anal with the 1st ex) wanted to try it because she was curious. For the second ex, it wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible....we only did it a couple of times that way. Honestly, as a dude, I much prefer the vaginal sensation. Anal is a little TOO tight, and you have to be ever mindful of the need to re-lube......Too much thinking for me. Sorry if TMI. -
Why do women have anal sex?
Carrie_C replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I guess it feels good to some women. I had an ex that wanted to do it ALL the time. But I found it painful and gross. TMI, but to me it feels like you are doing #2. -
I'm having gas pains from my surgery and while its nowhere near as bad as when I had a C-section, I'm not overly comfortable. I'm taking a gas X chewable regularly and it does seem to be helping, but the box says not to go over 6 per day. I haven't been keeping track of how many I take. How many did you guys take each day? (TMI notice!!) On a brighter note, some of the gas is coming out and earlier today, I had the most amazing fart ever in my life!!! LOL Gosh it felt so good! :yikes:

Sugar Free Canation Instant Breakfast
PinePal replied to Jacks2009's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast has fiber added to it now. You may find if you take supliments it is too much. I find the Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast gives me a tummy ache (gas pains I belive) from the fiber. Sorry if that was TMI, but I thought I would warn you. :yikes: -
Let's talk about POOP...FLOATERS OR SINKERS
Brandy~ replied to health4life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You cannot be serious lol... After reading the last 2 pages (I can't believe I admit to that) I don't think that there is any possible way that there could be a response that is TMI. -
Traveling for Plastics/how to pick a surgeon?
Luu2008 posted a topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am heading towards making my goal weight this summer but we are not in the financial place to pay for surgery, I'm working P/T to save enough $. I am hoping for a combined tummy tuck and breast lift (implants if needed). My parents live in rural Wyoming, we are in New York. Due to DH's busy career and having small children my mom has offered to care for me post surgery. I don't see any other way. How do I pick a good surgeon w/o being from the area? Do I schedule consults via phone with photos? Is that even possible? Should I go for consults this summer when I am visiting my family, this would be one year ahead of scheduling a surgery? I am not sure how long a stay this will require as far as being near the surgeon for after care. My dh will be able to stay with me up to 2 weeks in Utah while my mom cares for our kiddoes. I know of several good surgeons here in NY, its frustrating.... My plan is to have surgery in Utah and then driving or flying to my parents home (drive is 9 hours, flight is one hour). My parents own an RV and have offered it so I could lay down during the trip which seems more pratical to me. My fear is if there should be complications and follow up care after that initial 2 weeks I'll be stuck in rural Wyoming nearest major hospital is in Montana 2 hours away, then 6 weeks later I will be back in NY 2000 miles away from my surgeon. I hope this wasn't TMI. -

If anyone who has been through the procedure , or maybe if there is a nuse or two around? (I know I have seen a few nurses posting in other groups....) how far down are your incisions? The reason I ask is I am having surgery tomorrow and yesterday marked my TOM! I am wondering, logisitcally, how that will work during my surgery!! Any help would be most appreciated!!!! -
Hey everyone! I have been gone for a few months, but I think of you guys everyday. I am glad to see that everyone is doing so well. I see struggles here and there, but you are overcoming them. Your courage is exactly what I need to see right now, I am so glad that I am back. I have not been off the food wagon so much as off the exercise wagon. I have one of those jobs that can steal your life, but I love it. Unfortunately, that leaves little time for me (ha, surprise surprise). I am still losing, but very slowly. I am 70 pounds down, and it has changed my life. I feel and look like a totally different person. Yet, I am still disappointed. I just knew that I was going to be the model Lap Band patient, eating all of the right things, exercising daily, and I fully expected to be down 100 pounds by now. Had I excercised like I was supposed to, I would have been. Oh well, I am going to let the past be the past, and start fresh for 2009. I want to start that by reminding myself that what I have done already is huge, and the future holds nothing but more positive change. Things that I am thankful for: 1. I finally got braces! At 34, I have wanted them my whole life, but could never afford them. I have always been so self conscious about my teeth, I have severe crowding in the front. Time to release another ghost! 2. I am wearing a size 18 pants, and I started this journey at a size 28. 3. I am wearing heels for the first time in years. My knees and ankles would never support the weight. By the way, heels make me feel hot! 4. I sat in a lawn chair a few weeks ago on a rare warm day, and stood up without it suctioned to my butt. Huge! 5. My diabetes meds have been cut in half, and my doc expects that it will self resolve within the next 50 pounds. Down with needles! 6. This may be tmi, but in the shower, I find that I can easily reach every area of myself, without acting like a circus performer. It is amazing! 5. I am being seen. I have worked at the same location for a year and a half, and people that I see everyday are all of the sudden making conversation with me. Speaking to me. Seeing ME. 6. Even tho I am down only 70 pounds since surgery, I am almost 100 pounds down from my highest weight. I did a self imposed liquid diet prior to surgery, just to make sure that my liver was okay. I was paranoid that they would open me up and change their mind. I topped out at 352, and had surgery at 326. I need to remember and Celebrate this, every day! Okay, I am sure that there is much more, but I wanted to just say hi to everyone, and to remind myself why I started this journey in the first place. I want to be healthy, happy, and needle free. Thank you for letting me vent!!!!!

Hi all, it's been a while scince I've posted anything here. The true is I hit a plateau. I wasn't losing or gaining. I even stopped going to the gym, which was a bad decision. I ended up gaining a few pounds over the holidays. At least it wasn't 10-15 like most holidays before. Anyway, I've had two fills since last posting. I am now at 5cc's and I finally feel like I have good restriction. It feels like the second or third week after surgery. It's great, yet I have PBed several times since my last fill this past Thurday. I'm not chewing my food properly and I am still trying to eat too much. When I feel full I still take another bit or two and of course, I start to slim or PB. Sorry - TMI. I hope this means I'm close to my sweet spot. I hoping to see some loss this week.

I have a tilted uterus and tampons hurt a lot when I wear them. Also, for some reason, my cramps become so much worse while I have one in. I'm pads all the way, but always the overnights. I have weird periods. They don't follow any schedule they want. I went through a time of none for years, then I would have a heavy one that would go on for 40 days. I ended up with a D&C 2 years ago (they found several small uterine polyps) and since then it's been like clockwork, up until about 6 months ago. They are gradually getting more and more time in between. Right now I'm experiencing spotting since New Year's Day (I remember because had sex on New Year's Night and I thought the bleeding was because things got a little...um...intense....TMI). I've been spotting every day since then. The last 2-3 days, its more than spotting, but barely enough to wear a pad. Of course, I'm due to be banded on Wednesday and I'm probably going to have to have surgery while on my period! That SUCKS!!!!

ooooh Haydee... I like your new avatar! You are so gorgeous!!! Well, the vet is here... she took Mo out to the van... then she came back to get permission to sedate him, as he is impacted "up past the bend in his colon". Lovely. Poor guy. I can tell that she REALLY thinks we should stick w/Mo... & we are for now... she says there's 1 more drug we can give him... + we (& when I say "we", you know I mean "me", right?) will give him weekly enemas, see how he's doing, then move to every other week, then every 3 weeks... w/the hope that it'll taper off... so we'll see... all I know is that if he gets to this point again, the outcome very well may be a "final" one for him... Sorry to go on about this... you all are great to humor me w/using this forum to vent about this... I know this is WAY tmi for some of you... you all are vooderbah!

14cc band - what is your sweet spot?
Ewiedbingcott replied to LSF's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 5 ccs in a 14 cc band. I'm going Thursday for a fill. I can eat a lot! And while I maintained over the holiday, my goal is to lose weight. Today at lunch (I was hungry and in a hurry - bad combo) I really PB'd bad, slimed and threw up on chicken breast (I know, TMI). But that happens rarely with me. I have to learn to eat much slower and chew more. -

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
PrtyAntOvrYt replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
That's great! You know, I realized something a couple of months ago. I usually weigh immediately after waking up and pee'g (sorry TMI) - then I take my shower. I then drink 1/2 of a protein shake with my meds. I decided I'd weigh again after my shower and I noticed the weight is usually lower. (I know I'm adddicted to my scale) It made me wonder if the body needs a little time to shift after waking up. So now I weigh after my shower and that's the weight I take as my morning weight. I'm glad the TOM weight is moving out of there! -
Spent 1st night in the emergency room
doodleallday replied to volcano lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was definitely outpatient. Went under arond 1:30pm and left around 7ish because they had to IV-feed me 3 liters of Fluid before I could use the restroom. Eventually, we gave up and I awoke every 2 hours once home to use the restroom. The gas thing I can relate whole-heartedly to! Yesterday it was so painful I would cringe every second, holding my stomach. Luckily, it mostly took care of itself last night when something I'd eaten finally digested itself. Out with that came much of the gas. (Sorry for TMI!) I'm still bloated as all get-out, but I'm sure it'll pass over the next few days. Good luck to you, though!! :3 -
Well I started Detox yesterday. I weighed when I got up and was at 229 (OMG!)...well this morning 223.5 - woohoo! Water weight - I lived in the restroom yesterday (I know TMI). So I'm hoping by Monday some more will have come off and my tummy will be back to it's post-band happy self. How are all of you?
