    Finally Normal BMI

@@sa1976 - that is so cool, I would call that a NSV! I hope to be there one day soon
  2. Keep eating the SOFT food, making sure that you get all your Protein in. You;ll be a bit looser with each passing day. It took me 7 days until I could comfortably eat solids. I tried Steak yest. I cut it into TINY pieces and chewed 30 times... it went down.. but was it worth the effort? Hummmm I don't know... I do very well with FISH and chicken Thighs. Today I tried Ceasar salad (small one) and Chick Quesadilla... it was delicious but I could only eat 1/4 of the Quesadilla.. My G.Frends that took me out for lunch were going "WOW you have really cut down in your eating habits!!!" .... I havn't told them about the LB, plus I didn't want to PB in front of them in a restaurant... so I was really careful with each mouthfull. BUT it was a NSV for me... to go out and Eat with REAL (LOL) people and be undetected as a BANDSTER.... They did notice my weight loss though :whoo:

    Discouraged

....rarely mentioned in such circumstances, is the results of 'mostly empty colon' due to longish liquid intake, then the addition of several days or a week of even mushies. Our colon contents, depending on lots of variables, can easily account for several pounds seeming weight gain. Measure inches and changing body conformation. NSV will help focus on your real results. Congratulations and cheers on your journey.

    Wanna be

Hi there and welcome to lapband talk. My name is Lana and I was banded 05/21/08, I remember being in your position. Curiousity, bewilderment and about to embark on the journey of a life time. I don't have any horror stories but I do have some eye opening stories with regard to the band. Pre-op, surgery and post op were all very uneventful and not really very pain for me, everyone has a different story. I started very gung ho, with the full understanding that it was only a "tool" and without me it would in no way shape or form transform me into a gorgeous size 2. I understood that I need to exercise and agreed.. The one thing, that has me discouraged are the sheer amount of fills I have to have. So far I have had 10 and with each one I was sure I was getting closer to the spot. I'm just not there yet and it hurts emotionally a little. Exercise has given me a new body, I changed my eating habits, I no longer eat out nor can I tolerate that type of food..(I just can't stand the taste anymore). But yet and still 15 or so months later I'm still hungry and I just don't know if I even want to get another fill. The whole process just takes too much out of my day at this point. I haven't lost much weight as far as the scale is concerned but I do have a shopping list full of NSV. (non scale victories) Even after all of that, I would do this over again. Those first few weeks without food were actually magical for me. I learned a lot about myself and wanted even more to be on this journey. I guess the point is, the band is not a miracle. The actual weight loss could take longer than you think and without a real change in self (diet and exercise)there would have been no progress to speak of. I wish you luck, this is a wonderful place to start. This journey is not without its bumps and bruises, lacks perfection and at times is down right ugly. But its till worth it, even on the days I doubt it (like today) its still worth it.

    update & an NSV!!

I know, I'm a day late with this week's entry. I just didn't feel up to it yesterday, or now for that matter. edit (10-29-06): I feel up to it now. I'll be going for another (my 3rd.) fill very soon, hopefully some time next week. I need to call & schedule, I keep forgetting to do that. I can tell I have more restriction than after my first fill, but I can also tell it still isn't enough. I think I'll need a fill to help me cope with the Thanksgiving turkey. Man, I love making sandwiches with the leftover turkey. Oooh, and chocolate cream pie and biscuits with mayhaw jelly. Oh jeez, stop me now. On a "happy, happy, joy, joy" note-I have an NSV. I was an hour early to work today.(darn time change, screws me up every time) Since I had some time to kill, I went into the nearby Avenue store. I figured I'd try on a pair of 20s just for fun. I wanted to see how close I was to being able to zip them. I could zip them, I could even zip (and button) the SIZE 18s that I tried on next! Of course I still had a "muffin top" but hey the important thing is that I actually had a pair of 18s on my body and I could still breathe, sit down and walk normally. WAHOO!!!!!!!!!!:clap2:

    The Cycle...!

Lol!! Thanks gals! Luckily I've always kept tampons and pads in my bathroom and glove compartment. I always thought about the "just in case" factor. Even though "it" never came! Lol. So this AM I was able to use one of my supplies. I have always with wings. Hope that's a good brand. We'll see. I wasn't sure how to put it on like which direction... There's a wider part that I figured should go towards the back and the smaller in the front. I hope that's right..? Lol. I'll look into the heating pads as well. I took Tylenol extra strength a few minutes ago. Hopefully it will work Bc these cramps are no joke. I planned on going shopping today but I don't want to walk around feeling like this. Your right this is a NSV! Whoohoo. And omg 72 days of bleeding. Sheesh! Your a trooper. I'm praying this doesn't last longer than 7 days. Lol. Thanks again!!!!

  17. There was once a time...that I needed to see not only my PCP, but my Endocrinologist, Cardiologist, Dermatologist. PCP was every 3 months with repeated lab work.... Everything was out of control. All my blood work was helter skelter. Get one thing under control, another thing would go through the roof. Not to mention high BP, etc. Taking more medications than I can remember, and different combinations and dosages were having no effect. Dermatologist was a regular routine due to chronic skin rashes, infections. Some landed me in the Hospital in an isolation room....mask and gown for the nurses to enter..... Diabetes totally out of control, kept raising the medications with no results. Where would it end? Today I had my annual visit with my PCP...yes, I said annual. Only see him once a year now. And today, as with last year and the year before that, my Lab results were PERFECT!!! My weight unchanging!!! Leaving, I made my appointment for July 2016 !! Same with my cardiologist...once a year. Routine visit. Don't see an endocrinologist anymore. That's all behind me. And I don't have skin issues anymore so no more dermatologist needed. I only visit the weight loss center and surgeon once a year. All because I had Weight Loss Surgery !!!!! My PCP asked if I had any regrets with WLS....are you kidding me??? I would probably not be here if I didn't...I'd be dead!! He nodded and agreed.....I would not be here today if not for Weight Loss Surgery. A surgical intervention to accomplish what I am not ashamed to say I could not do on my own with diets.
  18. I know that there have been threads on this site dedicated to NSVs, but I just wanted to add my own. Over the past weekend, I saw a commercial on tv for a very pretty watch. I mentioned the watch to my hubby and said that I might like it for Christmas. Well, my hubby took me to the local mall later that day to see if we could find the watch at one of the jewelry stores. We found the watch and I tried it on. IT FIT PERFECTLY! :frown: I have never been able to walk into a jewelry store, try on a watch, and have it fit... no extra links needed. I was sooooo happy the watch fit that my hubby bought it for me right then and there.

    First NSV pre-op!!!!!

So I was 451 when I first started my pre-op diet and I went to wal-mart to buy a scale and the maximum weight they went up to was 445lbs so I bought it and every so often I'd weigh myself at home and it said "ol" for over load or oh lord which ever you prefer (lol). But today I weighed myself and it said 442.7.....I'm soooo excited I measured myself twice just to be sure it was right and it Steal read the same thing.....this made my day let's celebrate with a fat free, sugar free, gluten free, popsicle!!

    Getting Discouraged

43lbs is a lot of weight since 11/18. You are doing great! Try to focus on some non scale victories(NSV) or look how your clothes are fitting. You are doing a lot of exercise so you need some carbs. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Letty's journey post-op

Look for the NSV's and rejoice in them. Like, do your clothes fit better? Can you buckle the seatbelt fit better? Can you walk to the mailbox without getting out of breath? Do your knees hurt less? Is your sleep apnea gone? Those were my non surgery victories. Yours may be different.
