I am so happy! I went shopping with DH on Saturday - he actually came without complaint. I hadn't been to Kohl's yet and was in search of some shorts. I bought a skort in a 16 - Misses! It wasn't 16W or in the "women's section". I'm on cloud nine! Oh, I also bought a dress from Cato's in a 16 misses. I'm so excited to be out of the Plus Stores...I haven't shopped in misses since college.

Had a great feeling NSV today! I have had two co-workers compliment me on my weightloss today. It has been hard for them to really judge my weightloss because they see me every day and they haven't really commented that I've lost anything until today. It made me feel REALLY good to have them finally notice!! In fact when I told them the amount I've lost BOTH of them said it looked like much more than 70 something pounds!!! Yay for me! -

Leslie and Mia - Thosre are great NSV's, congratulation. I haven't posted any lately since I've been at a stand still for so long and I haven't been anywhere or done much. But, I did start back to work at school today and I've changed schools and there were a couple of people who haven't seen me for over a year, and a couple of them didn't recognize me. That was quite nice. Leslie - I know you must be thrilled to wear a size 14, It is such a great feeling. I was shopping Saturday and I still get amazed that I can shop in the regular misses sections. I always thought that if I could just wear a 16 that I would be happy, but now I have 12's in sight. I can wear quite a few 14's and am thinking that 12's would be wonderful. So that's my next goal. -
Like most women, I have a range of sizes taking up space in the closet. Today I started going through clothes I haven't been able to wear in years. I was amazed at how many of them fit! Some of them I am sad to say I've nearly missed out on because they are basically already too big on me. Even my smallest clothes are oh so close to being publicly wearable. I can't believe it! When I look at myself in the mirror I can't really see much of a difference, but fitting into these clothes made it real to me. I really am losing this weight! I want to jump up and down!

Just had to share. I went to a water park tonight with my 2 children and my church and I went down the water slides. It has been over 20 years since I was comfortable enough to even attempt going on them. My girls were so happy and we had a blast. I will be attempting roller coasters next. BTW, I am 4 months out and down 94 lbs. Started at 330 and down to 236.

RosioJo, Kristin, and Leslie - congrats on the NSV's! Doesn't it make you feel great? I've had two people, one a male coworker and one a male Trustee for the college where I work, refer to me as a skinny minnie lately. HA! I certainly wouldn't use the word "skinny" to apply to me, but the compliment is nice all the same. At least I know others are noticing! -
Really? NSV already? So I've been stuggling with the Protein powders, but I think I've got that whipped with the Isopure RTD. However, my husband made a comment about my jeans getting baggie last night so I thought tonight I might check my measurements since I hadn't checked them in 2-weeks Here goes. Neck 17 - 16-3/4 Waist 51 - 50 Hips 55 - 47...yeah, I lost 7 inches off my hips! So, with these numbers I decided to see if I could get into my old size 22 100% cotton Levis that I would not get rid of for the last 3 years. YEAH BABY! They fit!!!! With that great feeling I pulled a pair of 18's my sister-in-law gave me. First, I could never get them over my thighs. Not tonight! They are up and although I cannot button them, I was able to get them all the way on! I'm feeling frogy! :-) Oh, and down 8-lbs in 7-days. Woo Hoo!!!

NSV 's .? I have several ! Size 8 jeans. Seeing my strength improve in Pilates class. A customer who I had' nt seen in a few months, and a former co worker, both telling me I "looked great !! " Slipping into small spaces with ease. Carrying heavy items up and down our stairs. Having to shop for a few new lite jackets or cardigans, as some of mine are getting baggy. Somebody calling me "tiny !!" (What the ? ) And as someone said previously, "just living life !!!" -
Friday NSV roll call!
CHM replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know if it counts as an NSV since its technically weight related, but when they put me on the scale before surgery on Monday morning we learned that I officially weigh less than my husband for the first time in our entire 10 year relationship! He wasn't quite as ecstatic as I was, of course, but that's how its supposed to be, dammit!! -

Check the Carbs in your Protein shake, I use Whey Isolate because its lower in Carbs. Also 1 cup of applesauce has 43 Carbs so you might find a different snack that works better with your Diet Macros. What types of drinks do you have during the day? The Ketogenic Lifestyle is what I have been doing for the last 3 months and by keeping my Carbs at or Below 20 I have been Blessed to have good loses. The final piece is you might be having several NSV Non Scale Victories as your body is making the transition to fat Burning and Muscle building. Good Luck and we look forward to watching you make the transition. -
Sharing a huge NSV 😊

Seriously, I keep trying to contrive a reason to fly somewhere! But a lot of places I could fly I'd need a rental car, and they're rarer than hen's teeth and more expensive than Fabergé eggs when you do find them. But it is on my list. I got to check off one of my Purple Goals (my list of NSVs) yesterday—I had a business lunch and arrived second, and my lunch date had gotten a booth. Normally that would be a huge embarrassing thing because I couldn't have fit at all. Yesterday I just scootched right in there and actually had to lean forward over the table to eat what little I did eat. -
Sometimes it is about the numbers. NSVs are great, but to be healthy I need the numbers to reflect that. So as of today (14 months out), I have lost over 110 pounds. I have less than 30 pounds to lose to reach goal. I have lost 41% of my original weight. And for me, the number that got to me the most today – 80%. I have lost 80% of my excess weight. So if you're starting out on this journey, don't get discouraged by the statistics. Do your own math. Know what you need to lose. Know the percentages. Understand what it's going to take to lose the weight. And then set a realistic time period for reaching your goal. Believe in yourself, more than you believe in the stats. Best wishes on your journey!

I appreciate when the newbies post of their successes. The reason is that it reminds me of the elation I felt when I was seeing success for the work and commitment I was putting in. It was very motivational to see the results and know that I was doing what I needed to do to make this work. When I read such posts I hope that their victories are providing them with the same elation and validation I felt when I was where they are now. As a side note, one would be very wise to document such events, NSVs, feelings of elation, etc. There comes a time when the NSVs and the, "wow you look awesome" encounters fade. We all begin to live in what is our new normal. It is in those times that it is beneficial to be able to look back and remind ourselves just how important those events were to us and just how far we have come.

Rewards: Things You've Gotten Yourself and/or Are Working Toward
doodleallday posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did a search in the "Twenties" subforum for "rewards" and came up with nothing. Figured I'd start a thread to collect all of the rewards we buy ourselves for our weight-loss, exercise goals, and NSVs. What kinds of things have you already earned as a reward for your hard work and/or what are some of the things you're working toward? -

Lisa, I'm not a guy. I'm an old woman (That's why I want to win the basket!) PS I had an NSV yesterday and bought a size 16 jeans. I thought I would sh*t myself! -
LOL Okay, that is too funny! I thought I was the only one whose shoulder was 'out of socket' for that job! I wll be looking for that NSV any day now!

Ya'll - I may be completely nutz! I am so excited about this NSV. It may be a bit "out there", but I was actually able to "wipe" today without feeling like I was ripping out back muscles or being out of breath! Whoohoo! I turned and boom - there I was - no effort at all...I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many YEARS it has been since I was able to do that.

Nsv... I Went From 5:45 Am To 5 Pm Without Using My Wheelchair...
tjmom posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today was a milestone for me... I have used a motorized chair off and on for 5 years ..but all day/every day (24/7) for the last 3 years...Reason: i have had 2 back surgeries (have some disc fused) & have arthritis in my back, hips and knees (to name a few) ...Doctor wants to replace both my knees, but that's another post. Since my WLS, i have tried to walk a bit everyday...at first, just around the island in the kitchen... Then from one end of the house to the other... Last Monday i added short, slow walks outside with my husband...(he would ride in my motorized chair in case i needed it). The walks gave me the confidence i needed... Today, when i woke up, i said, "lets see how long we can go today without using the chair." well, i went from 5:45am to 5 pm...i was so happy, i cried when i told my husband after he got home from work... (he thought i hurt myself...sweet man, so caring) Physically, I am very sore....but mentally i feel GREAT! Thank you for listening -

TJMom, I think you're doing great!! I keep saying I couldn't walk before surgery because I couldn't go from my front door to my car without being out of breath, but you're blowing me out of the water!!! Every day you are getting a little stronger and one day you'll be posting that you "couldn't walk before surgery" and that you're now using that wheelchair to grow flowers in the back 40! Great NSV! I hope you'll keep us updated on your progress. I wonder how you could track the lessening need for the wheelchair on a ticker? -

Okay. I see. Thanks! Now -- what's a NSV? -
This might seem a little weird, however, it made me feel so good so I believe it is a NSV. I was sitting at the red light yesterday, and I could feel someone looking at me, and I turned to the left, and there are these 2 young boys hitting on me. The driver was practically hanging out the pasenger window trying to get my attention. Now, I'm a very happily married woman for 19 years, but let me tell you, it felt good to have these 19 yr old boys flirting with me. I know they would have just crapped thier pants had they known I was 40! LOL. I smiled back and drove away..............
