    How long to see improvement?

3 Days is still fresh wounds, you're going to feel rough after major surgery like this. It took a good two weeks for my bypass + hernia repair to feel comfortable again. You have to be patient and give your body the rest it needs to repair itself.
  2. My best guess is that it's mostly water loss as@catwoman7 mentioned. Some on pre-op diets lose a lot of water weight (mainly low carb diets do that) so maybe that is what you are experiencing. You may enter a stall soon since it sounds like your body is adjusting. Please make sure you stay hydrated and contact your surgeon if you experience other symptoms.
  3. I’m new to this group. I started the process of going for clearance from pcp and cardio, blood work and chest X-ray next week. Then I’m getting an endoscopy and then see the surgeon on April 20. I guess that’s when I will get my surgery date and start my pre-op diet. I can’t wait.

    How long to see improvement?

Your body has just been through major trauma & is still healing & adjusting to your new normal! It’s gonna take a couple of weeks. Listen to your body & don’t do too much too soon!
  5. that's pretty fast - although did you lose weight before surgery and/or did you have to do one of those two-week liquid-only diets before surgery? If not, a chunk of that weight you lost right after surgery could have been water.

    Any April Surgery Dates?

APRIL 5th for me, been on the phase two diet for three weeks and today I just started the day liquids only.

    Feb sleeves unite!

Reached a scale and non-scale achievement. For the scale, I made it into onderland a couple days ago. This was big because it means, at where I live, I can go horseback riding with my son. Planning to take him during spring break this week! These kind of achievements are why I had the surgery, to be healthy and active with my kids!

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

This week was Spring Break. It was also the 1/2 way point in my 90 day challenge. We had a short vacation planned and so I decided it was a good time to just take a few days off. I took from Saturday - Wednesday off... so 5 days and picked back up on Thursday. So there is a slight bump up this week, but it was probably a perfect week to take a break. Back onward and downward this week!
  9. Absolutely amazing. How fab to see such a big loss after such a long stall. So close!!!
  10. Hi my name is Catina I'm 3 weeks and a few days post OP. I lost almost 30 pounds in 11 days is this normal? Also I went my regular physician the other day which was 6 days after sleeve appt and I had lost another 14 pounds in 6 days HELP IS THIS NORMAL?
  11. I've not lost any significant weight over the past two months or so. The scale barely moved down from 83 kg but I noticed some changes on my measurements. The clothes that I bought three months ago are loose now but not to the point that I have to buy new ones. I didn't weigh myself for almost 10 days and you can imagine my excitement when I saw the number on the scale I can't remember the last time I was below 80 kg. Maybe in my early teens. I'm now 9 kg away from my target and I can't wait to shed those. Fasting certainly helped break the stall for me. I hope to lose 5 kg more in the remaining 20 days of the fasting month.

    Feeling pretty low

It's very normal to have feelings of regret early on. The first few weeks after surgery are the hardest because you're still recovering from major surgery, adjusting to your new stomach, very limited in what you can eat, and you haven't seen the benefits of the weight loss yet. For most people, things just get better from there. You will soon get to start reintroducing "normal" food and you will lose more weight than you ever thought possible. There were many times at the beginning that I wondered, "Why did I do this to myself?!" but now I'm almost 3 years out and that rough early post-op period is barely a blip in my memory. Have faith and give it time, and chances are good that you, like most people, will only eventually only regret that you didn't have surgery earlier. By the way, stalls are very normal. It's just your body re-adjusting. Keep going with your plan and the weight loss will resume.

    New to the group

Hi! My name is Johanna and I live in western AZ. I have three adult children one grandson and just found out I am going to be a grandma again in September. Love the AZ sunshine and all things outdoors. I am having RNY on 4/12/23 to hopefully get rid of GERD and T2 Diabetes.

    Stalles

Sounds absolutely perfect for 10 months out. You're probably in a stall - keep on doing what you're doing and it will break soon. I know it's frustrating but 91lbs in you are definitely the expert on your own weight loss!
  15. None of that seems normal except maybe for the first day or so for most people. Especially not after 6 weeks. If you haven't already, I would contact my surgeon soon. Really hope you feel better soon.

    Hair loss

it grows back. Hair loss usually lasts about three or four months, so yours should be about over...
  17. So I'll be 6 weeks post op on Sunday (bypass) and I still feel awful and I wish I hadn't spent every penny I own doing this to myself! I feel sick every day nearly all day and it's better lying down but how am I supposed to work or make dinner when activity makes me feel really sick and my family comment that I even lose all my colour in my face when I have to go lie down Food is just...rubbish? Nothing tastes great anymore and I don't feel like eating anything and even then the weight loss has slowed dramatically i managed to lose 1 pound in a week of barely eating, I'm constantly burping as well (as soon as I woke up today) I still have an upset stomach nearly every day, ive been pretty good about actually being sick and although I constantly feel it I've only got to retching 4 times (can anyone else not vomit even when your retching and gagging?!) I guess I'm just feeling low and upset and wondering if I'll ever feel human again, apologies for the bad attitude I'm crying even doing this and I just hate how I feel. I guess I thought I'd be feeling better by now Sam
  18. I feel you! I haven't weighed myself as of yet as I'm a bit scared to, tbh. I think I've probably gained weight. I'm going to weigh myself next week as I'm coming on 9 weeks post-op with less than 30lbs weight loss. I still have problems with water (especially when working all day) and I don't count/track calories due to old eating disorder habits that focused on counting calories. I'm starting the gym next week too, so I'm hoping that will work!

    November 2022 surgery support!

Hope everyone is doing well! I finished my 1 month training program, start a 2 month one on Monday. My weight loss has been slow, I was going to say non existent but then realized I still lost almost 10 lbs this month. I knew starting weights was going to change the way I weight myself since muscle uses water to heal, but there were some weeks were I was loosing a pound. Once I upped the water, which I hit now 78-84 oz easily and my protein is on point, I started to loose again. But can't complain, really haven't had any stalls and if this can count as one, I'm grateful for it. Exercise made me hungry, like crazy hungry. There was a day where I was snacking on cookies, quest chips etc and realized I needed to stop before it became an issue, so I'm doing 3 meals and a protein shake split into 2 snacks. I'm also thinking of doing a few days of shakes only, if I see my weight not moving much this month. I want to be in onederland by 6 months.

  21. I'm in this boat, as well. I lost a good amount of weight from pre-op diet and from my first two weeks post-op, but since then the scale has barely moved for me. I am back onto solid foods now that I'm more than three weeks post-op, and I'm tracking everything I eat and even walking/moving more than pre-op. I've started some very light resistance training because I'm afraid of losing muscle instead of fat. But I was hoping to see a faster weight loss than what I'm currently seeing. I think because so many people tell you it'll happen fast, but in the moment it seems so slow. How are you since you last updated? I hope you're well.
  22. I use the Protein Smart shakes as creamer in my coffee. Three cups of coffee and the shake is down without any bad taste.

    Daily chronicles

My hunger was week 2 into 3. The 2 tbsp amount could alway be more. Idk if it was because I wake up late in the day so body needs catch up but the first part of the day it's like I could down my yogurt cup no problem. Not until early evening did I feel content with small portions. I never felt pain or whatever I still took it slow. Which brings up a question... 1) how do you tell when you are truly full not just eating to fast or too much at a time? I burp all the time so I scrapped that one. Sometimes I just want to anymore. Other times when I wait I get a hiccup so stop but can feel Hungry again a bit later. I don't feel in distress or anything besides trying to navigate everything. Also random question. Do you still have back and incisions pains? I'm 3 weeks now and the back pain is strictly right side.
  24. I agree with what everyone has said. You are doing so well in regards to meeting protein & fluid goals. Many of us take weeks to actually reach them regularly. I wonder if you are doing a little too much physically this soon after surgery? It’s a pretty major surgery & while walking is great 30mins is a lot in one hit. It may be stressing & pushing your body too much while it’s trying to heal & recover. Try spreading the 30mins out over the day: 2x 15 or 3x 10. Everyone is different of course. Personally if I walked for 30 minutes the first two weeks (or longer) I wouldn’t have been able to move for the rest of the day. All the best.
  25. Less than a week before gastric bypass surgery. I'm nervous but excited. Been lurking here for a while, reading. I'm about ready as I'm going to get. Down 20 pounds in 3 months. A ton of pre op testing done and cleared. Food/drinks, chewable vitamins, protein, meds bought. On 2-week preop diet now which includes 2 protein shakes a day along with 3 ounces lean protein and 2 1/2 C.  non starchy veggies and is totally do able for me. Clear liquid day before surgery. A full sugar Gatorade night before  and again 2 hrs before arriving at the hospital. Interesting how different everyone's diets are depending on your doctor.

    I'm optimistic all will go well. Good luck to the April surgeries happening this month and to all that are going through the process.  {{hugs}}
