Ok I've only lost 28 lbs but I have a few NSVs 1. I went clothes shopping. I tried on a pair of 24 pants... it didn't fit... 22? nope still loose...20 nope...18? no way...16 HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!! THEY FIT!!! So not only have I moved from a size 24 pant to size 16. I have also moved from a size 20/22 top to a 14/16! I'm just one step closer to never having to step foot back into Lane Bryant or avenue. 2. My fiance can wrap his arms around me and i can spin around in his arms without him letting go. 3. I've become SOOOO much more flexible.

Way to go everyone on your NSVs! I just came back from a vacation and I had so many. To start, I was comfortable (as much as one could be) in the airplane seat. I had room to spare in the seat, the seat belt fit without a question, the tray table was no where near my stomach and I could actually cross my legs while sitting too! I got so many complements from people who I haven't seen in a year and a half and 115lbs ago! I went hiking with my friends and I had the most energy out of all of them. Everyone used to have to wait for me to catch my breath going up the hill, but this time it was me who was waiting for my friends to catch their breaths! I did so much walking on my trip and I wouldn't have been willing to do all that walking when I weighed a lot more.

I have had so many nsv moments but here are a few that I have really enjoyed: I got rid of all my size 24,22,20,18 & 16 clothes!!! The only things in my closet are 14's!!! I can paint my own damn toes!!! My gut used to get in the way now I can bring my foot all the way up woo hoo! I weigh less than my hubby! I got whistled at for the first time in over 10 years! The mirror matches my image of who I am.. it is not shocking to walk past and go "WHO THE HELL IS THAT" .. My hubby can pick me up and carry me upstairs.. gosh do i love that.. I wish he would carry me everywhere..lol.. it makes me feel so little and sexy!! Those are just some of my nsv's!

Another NSV - this week is getting CRAZY! I saw my 4 year crush yesterday - and his mouth DROPPED, he could not keep his hands off my side/waist, hugging me, ect - it was so so so cute. Kept saying how good I looked, how healthy I looked. Granted he would flirt with me at any weight but I had not seen him in 45 lbs! ahahahahah That was my dream come true! 1 crush down 1 more to go! hahahah

So much to be thankful for ... my biggest scale victory was getting below 200 (yeah me!) But my biggest NSV was going to Kings Dominion and fitting in EVERY SINGLE RIDE with my daughter! I had a teary moment as I walked up to the old rickety wooden coaster she loves so much ... that was apparently built for people who weigh 102lbs or less ... and I realized I was going to FIT IN THE SEAT!! This is freakin' awesome!!

I know this is a thread for NSV's but I just had to share with someone my great news. I began my weight loss journed the middle of February last year. I didn't begin pursuit of the lap band until the summer. I dieted on my own from February until the end of May. I joined an Optifast program at a local hospital on June 1 and ate nothing for 14 weeks, just drank their shakes. Then I spent 7 weeks reintroducing food, losing along the way. I finished that program in the middle of October and didn't have surgery until December 6 so I continued to diet on my own. Prior to surgery I had lost 68 pounds. Today when I stepped on the scale I had reached 100 pounds. I could scream it from the rooftops. I would never have believed it a year ago. I finally have less to lose than I have lost already. I am halfway there.

Firstly I want to let each and every one of you know you are an inspiration, I can relate to the comments of you look good, did you cut your hair and a slip up or pig out not being what it used to be (thankfully). Looking at the progress of others I seem to be creeping along on my weight loss and I need to keep looking at my NSV's. I consider it a blessing every time I feel full and have to stop eating. I don't remember feeling full in the last 10 years. I was usually hungry and sometimes sick from eating too much. A big one for me (NSV) is when I fit into a pair of 24 pants and they were not even tight (they were very tight when I bought them). Since I was up to a 28/30 pant before beginning this journey i consider that a big victory. Yay!

I'm back to my old eating habits ;-(
mistysj replied to mocanitanj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you think back and remember why you wanted the surgery! What were your goals, dreams, plans? What are your NSVs so far? How do you reward yourself? Maybe think really short term and each time you eat on plan or exercise, give yourself a small reward like buy an app for your phone or a track on iTunes. Also maybe you can make a list of pros and cons about eating back on track vs staying the same. I find that if I write it down, it is more powerful for me. You took an awesome first step by coming here to get support! Bravo! -
Hello! My name is Jennifer. I am 39 years old and I'm a happily married mom to 5 children. I am 5 ft tall and weight 270. My BMI is 53. I have tried to lose weight for years but I keep gaining. I have thought about wls for years but have always been afraid. My sister in law got a sleeve about a year ago and has lost over 100 lbs. she looks awesome and says its the best thing she ever did. So, I've been researching and have decided to do it. I have an appointment with her surgeon on September 11. I have the same insurance as she has b/c our husbands work at the same place. So I know they cover the surgery but there are requirements I have to meet. I have BCBS of WV. I guess I probably won't be able to have surgery for 6 months or so because of the required diet. So I'm kind of bummed. At the same time, I'm scared! I've been reading a LOT of posts on here and have been brought to tears at some of your progress and NSVs. I'm so happy for you and sad for the person I have become. I cannot wait until I am less than 200 lbs... And to think I might wear a size 8 again is almost unbelievable! I'm scared of surgery still but I think NOT having the surgery is probably scarier! I know myself though and I'm worried I will freak out at the last minute and chicken out. I know I have a few months to prepare but just wanted to introduce myself and become a part of the community. :-)

I agree with you....I had listed on an NSV thread somewhere that my house is so much cleaner. No more dust bunnies or being able to write things in the dust. I have cleaned out closets and made more space for things. I love my band too (except for the dreaded vomit episodes but hey at least the toilet is clean). It is like a dream world. I cannot believe that the old is back!

Oh.....NSV for me today. Went to a public pool this afternoon and got in without feeling like I needed a shirt on. First time ever. Gotta love Texas weather .....hotel pool in November. Yes I was showing off the abs. I paid for them, I'm showing them off.

The last time I took my Lisinopril and HCTZ was Tuesday (the day prior to surgery). Post-op in the hospital every time they took my blood pressure, it was respectable and very close to normal. I had asked if they were giving me my blood pressure meds and they said no - they hadn't given me anything because my vitals were strong. Say what??! So, being a bit overly cautious with my new gogo gadget toy tummy, I talked to my general MD today who asked me to come in ... and ... *drum roll!!* she took me completely off all my blood pressure meds!! Here I am 2 days post-op and already kicking meds !!! The only requirement she gave me was to check my BP a couple times a day and if it goes up then to only take 1/2 tablet. I'm so excited to see that happen so quickly!!

What does sliming mean/feel like and other FAQ's
Alison I posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well my topic is self-explanatory. I keep hearing about "sliming" and I would like to know what you guys mean by that and what exactly it feels like. I know what being "stuck" means but I never heard of sliming until I came to this forum. I'm a noob. Also, I've been trying to find an FAQ section for the terminology used but I haven't found it yet. I've come across some other terms too that i'm just not familiar with yet- like NSV. So if someone could like me to another post where these terms have been addressed or something that would be wonderful! Thanks in advance! -
Stalls are very common especially with sleeve surgery. That is why someone on this site a long time ago created the phrase "Embrace the stall". Many sleeve patients remain in the weight loss phase for up to 2 years, so you have many, many months to go. Just follow your program guidelines and shift your focus to NSV, non-scale victories, such as fitting into smaller clothes or the remission of serious medical conditions.

So I'm on this committee that meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month. I missed last month since I was on FMLA and this month's meeting (I'm 2 months out) was today. It is in the college of pharmacy in a classroom that we reserve so it has those chairs with the tiny desk thing that goes up and down in front of you. I hope you know what I mean. Prior to surgery, I would always have to leave the desk up and pull another chair over to me in order to write/look at portfolios on that chair's desk because the desk would come nowhere close to going down. Got some funny looks the first few months that I did that. Today, I went in, sat in my usual seat, started to scoot another desk over and stopped. I kinda looked around to see if anyone was paying attention and decided to lower the desk on my chair to see how much farther I would have until I could put it down. IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had to tell someone and I was afraid people I know would think I'd gone crazy for being so excited about something like that....figured I could Celebrate here without anyone thinking I was TOO crazy! 13 Days Post Op! How Much Can You Eat And Lose ?
terrydumont46 replied to jujusmommy07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
all the answers and advice you were given are right on. i am one of the ones that does not weigh myself at home. only at my surgeons office. i don't want the scale to determine my mood or eating habit for the day. please read the nsv's. non scale victories. they are what you should be basing things on. such as, energy level, fitting in clothes better, being able to move much easier, and doing something positive for yourself is such a high. lapbanders on a whole is not about great fast weight loss, its all about how, what , and how much we are eating. 4lbs to 5lbs a month is what to expect. good luck and keep a positive attitude, you are winning this battle. -
Thank you! It's hard to see much change day to day but that NSV was huge yesterday! I found myself more engaged and friendly in class because I wasn't worrying if everyone was staring at the fat girl in class [emoji16] so excited to continue to watch my body change Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

weight loss after surgery
LilMissDiva Irene replied to ladiebashful's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would never be considered a quick loser, but seeing as this is a LIFE LONG change, I'm totally ok with that. Try not to compare yourself to others, and DEFINITELY don't sell yourself short!! You CAN ALWAYS do so much more than you ever dreamed possible!!! I'm living proof of that. Celebrate your losses and be proud of your journey. Take photos of yourself, before an durings, keep measurements, keep logs of all your NSV's... these will brighten your day when the scale is being a poopy butt. Good luck!!! -
Thanks Jill. Tonight I'm actually wearing my sister's old jeans-size 20!!!!!! (a major NSV for me!) I don't think I'm a 20 yet but for some unknown reason I was able to fit into this pair! Do you think I might be able to get away with this without total embarassment?
