Calling the Victorious Valentines

Life? Let's see... Band - weight seems to have stabilized again; contemplating another fill, but as it was only 1 month ago I had to be slightly de-filled I don't want to screw around with it. But if my appetite doesn't abate soon, then it is likely a fill is in my near future. Work - always on the hunt for another job (I'm easily bored and always want a new challenge). Have a few interviews this month - one for position that would require moving 1500 miles from here (and slightly north:scared2:), another I could work from home 50% of the time, with lots of travel for the other 50%. Both positions seem interesting, but until I have interviews I won't really have details. Home - anxiously awaiting spring; I hate being cooped up! Watching lots of movies, reading lots. Just the usual, no real excitement...which is sometimes good, sometimes bad! Family - everyone is ok; cats are fine too. Car - time for a new one! Can't really afford it. My trusty car has given 10 years of dependable service, but is starting to have those issues that mean the end is coming....do I wait, or do I replace now? There, how's that? or is this WAYYYYYY TMI? -
I'm going to make myself accountable here.

Eating: I will keep a food journal. It will be simple. I will just list what I ate/drank for the day. I won’t add up calories, fat, carbs or whatever – I just want you to see what I’m eating, and for me to own up to anything I shouldn’t eat. I personally don’t have the time to add up all that stuff anyway. I will list the time of day of my last snack or meal. I want to ensure I’m not eating past 7 PM my time. Moods: I will write down how I felt for the day. Or if I had any ups or downs. I think this will help you and I figure out why I keep slipping backwards. We’ll see about that. Exercise: I will keep a log of what exercises I did for the day. I would like to do a little something at least twice per day for six days a week. Daily Weigh In: I weigh myself every day, once a day. I do this when I first wake up, in my nightshirt and undies after the morning potty time. TMI? Sorry, I just want to give you an idea that my weigh in are as true as can be. Our weight can fluctuate even during the day. I will also post any weigh-ins at the Dr. office visits or otherwise. These will be the four main factors in my posts every single day until I get right – and perhaps even beyond. All I know is that something has to change. That something has got be me. Simply put. I don’t care, whatever is on your mind you tell me. However, I’m not really looking for the canned responses I hear over and over. Like, the band is only a tool… yadda3. KWIM? I’m looking for advice, a nice jolt of reality, whatever… It’s on. -
Hi folks, Wasn't sure where to post this but I am on 5 weeks post op and was doing great except for last 2 days. It all started Sunday morning; I had excruciating pain while laying in bed, so much so it was tough to turn over and get out of bed. Added to it was the pain I felt when I breathed in deeply. Same happened early this am; it hurts throughout the day but seems to be worse when sleeping. It so happens I had my post op follow up today and told my Dr. how I am feeling and he suggested an upper GI but feels very small chance it's a slipped band since I am not vomiting, salivating profusely, etc. Wanted to reach out to you folks to see if anyone experienced similar either with or without a slipped band. Also, and this falls under TMI, DH and I had sexual relations for the 1st time on Saturday since surgery and then all of a sudden this happened. Not that we are swinging from chandeliers (yet:tongue_smilie:) but could that have caused something to go wrong with the band? I have been so paranoid about sex and the band post op which is why I made DH wait a month. Also- been taking Gasx in case it was residual gas pain but not been to helpful. Thanks to all in advance for your insights.

Good eve, Vi's~~ Wow am I tired. DD & I did our part to help the economy today!! She made out like a bandit. Everything she tried on fit, which usually doesn't happen... so I bought it all! She kept calling it a "spree" & I guess it was!! She's set for spring & summer -- even purchased a bathing suit!! I am so tired... I think it's that getting up so early this a.m. That + I'm hemmoraghing like crazy today!! Lovely. Sorry. TMI. But there you go. Am trying to stay awake 'til dh gets home... but we'll see!!

soul love some advice or info from anyone who has done this. I am considering getting a reduction to hopefully a 36/38 DD so i can workout better (maybe even run!) and fit into clothing better. However, I am worried about losing sensation. This is probably TMI but my girls are definitly one of THE zones for me and I am afraid I would lose sensation and not be able to fully enjoy hanky panky again.

Linda - Thanks so much for checking on me! I was supposed to start my preop diet Feb. 24, but I was driving myself nuts with Last Supper Syndrome, so started a day early It hasn't been bad at all. I honestly have not been hungry, but one thing I am hungry for is salmon!!! Go figure!! I'm down 12.5 pounds since starting my preop diet 10 days ago. I can't believe surgery is next week!! Had a bit of a scare this week. My potassium was low, so my PCP put me on potassium to boost that. In addition, she thought my creatinine was a tad high. I called Dr. Smolik's office and my chart was on his desk to be reviewed for that. I thought "oh no....." but they said it wasn't high enough to be of a concern, they are more concerned that my potassium be normal - I have that rechecked by my PCP tomorrow. I've been taking a high dose for 3 days, so am confident it will be fine. They'll check it again the morning of surgery. I'm drinking Water like crazy. My system is not crazy about this diet and has slowed down (TMI I know) so I'm addressing that now. The nurse was surprised it wasn't the opposite, but my digestive system has always been a rebel :crying: I am just SOOO anxious to have surgery next week and begin the healing phase. It sounds like you are doing awesome! I look forward to seeing you at the support groups soon. Please contiknue to keep me updated on how you are doing. Feel free to send me a message. Again, thanks for asking about me... it's nice to have someone who has been there checking on me!! Barb

Why do women have anal sex?
DivaStyleCoach replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mornin' all! Loved seeing the guys' perspective...and good for him for being brave enough to post here! Plain - that goes for you too... I have had my "salad tossed" - my hubby enjoys it and so do I. He isn't yet 'comfortable' enough to let me reciprocate, but does very much enjoy fellatio and manual stimulation of his testicles (gently, now!). Again, as others have said, cleanliness is critical - you can't expect someone to enjoy tossing a salad with grit in the leaves, now can you? :scared2: Re: the guy who likes "being bent over and taken"...if that's what makes him happy, at least he's open enough to admit it! Perhaps the idea of being submissive to a strong woman who will enjoy him that way is what he wants - not necessarily being submissive to another man. *TMI Alert* My DH and I have an alternating dominant-submissive relationship - we take turns being dominant, but I am most often the dominant one. He likes it that way...and since I am a strong woman who likes to be in charge, I kinda like it that way too. Now back to your regularly scheduled discussion... -
I hate it when people post just to post.....

A few yrs. ago my kids and I went out with a friend to our fav. Chinese restaurant . He was laughing and teasing about it being cat. About 2 months later they got busted for serving CAT! I called him and told him that and he said lets go get more.:tongue2: We still laugh about it. I was stuck just a little while ago. I didn't chew well enough. I knew it as soon as it started to slip down my throat. I was trying to stop it. I almost sounded like my cats when they get a fur ball Sorry TMI. Kinda kept going on the cat theme. -
Long, I wish you well on taking care of your mother. Remember, if you need to vent we are here for you. I am glad your ticker is moving again. Mine....well, it ought to move today. I did a bad thing....I ate nuggets from Chick fil A....got stuck....and threw up for 2hrs till it all game up. I know...too much TMI, but I am exhausted. I have learned my lesson....NO chicken NUGGETS!. I guess I will sip on tea and broth this evening. :tongue2:

Feeling better, I am at work this morning but Rr. Baggs called me at 8 and told me I could only stay for an hour . . . . the antibiotics make me feel like puking (I haven't), really lousy but only 1 more week of that. They smell exactly like my cat box . . . . TMI??? I had to quit taking the pain meds because they were giving me hallucinations! So Jr. Tylenol chews for me - grape flavored, YUCK! I am on full liquids but try to make it protein, so soup soup soup. If it's thick (like spilit pea) I can only eat 1/4 cup or a little less; if its thin I can drink 1/2 cup. Clear liquids are no problem, I get in 50-60 ounces easily. Still rely on my sugar-free jello a lot to take away the hungry feeling. I am avoiding cream of wheat, etc. because carbs just make me hungrier. I won't get to go on to Stage 3 (pureed foods) until this weekend. So I am eating well under 500 cals per day, but I still am 4 lbs heavier than when I went into surgery!!!

had to call my dr to find out the pill name this am - i had forgotten....osmoprep is what i use. the results are the same (TMI - i know) but i had such gagging going w/the drinks. the pill is much more manageable, yet as slim says - you do need to drink lots of fluids - but they can be just plain Water...

I love it, I got 3 awesome NSV's this past week: 1.) I went home to Vegas to visit family and my brother and his wife (who don't know I'm banded) both said I look awesome and like I've lost a lot of weight immediately when they saw me... and I believe they meant it because they kept mentioning it. 2.) My size 50 belt that I usually wear doesn't fit anymore. I had to punch a new hole into the belt for it to fit. 3.) I got home from my trip and my wife said '(I) looked so hot when (I) walked through the door' and then raped me...twice...wait that's probably TMI.

Sorry if this is TMI but I have to ask! I have PCOS and I'm on birth control so I only get a period 4 times a year. I also have endometriosis. I get hideous cramps to the point where I'm completely laid out. I double over in pain, etc. The only thing that took the edge off was a lot of NSAIDs, mainly diclofenac and 800mg of ibuprofen. Now that I'm banded I obviously can't take these medications and I'm scared of what the first period is going to bring. Tylenol, midol, and other products that aren't NSAID's do NOT touch the pain at all. For those of you who have PCOS and bad cramps and everything, what do you take for the pain now that you're banded?

Could I possibly have became lactose intolerant since my surgery? I was banded 12/15. It seems like everytime I drink milk, I immediately get stomach cramps and pains. Then the gas starts. I'm use to the gas since I get it with pretty much anything but after that starts, the cramps get worse and then I get extreme liquid shits (Sorry for the TMI!). I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. It seems to only be with milk.

I was anemic for years, prior to my hysterectomy. And during my cancer treatments, they ask about everything-including that. They (seriously) even ask about brand of toothpaste!!!! I took mulitvitamins with iron for years because of it, and the fact that the iron supplement straight give me horrible stomach aches, and constipation. Sorry about the TMI situation, but it did!!! Even now banded, they do make kids chewables with iron added. I have not needed it since, and continue to donate blood and pass!! Tell her to get some Flintstones with Iron!!! Laura, the only problem I see with Mabubbles---is that for awhile the bay will stick to the strong syllable--and he will likley call her Ma. Keep in mind that may well stick. Manda's ear continues to look better! The color is going back to normal. Such immense relief passes through me when I look at it now, it is physical! Same as the gut wrench I had when I would look at it at its worst. Now it is relief! Kinsey and I are going to go buy groceries today....going to attempt to make it a healthy trip. It is always harder with her!! Also watching the weather, and think next week might be my chance to head into CO for a fill. It is beautiful here, our high today is in the low 60's. But the western slope of CO I have to go to is getting snow today, just not sure of how much. Maybe she will make an exception and see if he will do a fill on Monday. He usually sees other surgical patients on Mondays----but Rick is off on Mondays to drive, he is so much better at winter driving in the mountains! But if I do not get a fill soon, I am going to have to break out the clothes in the give away bags....sad but true. My Mom and Dad have chose to give up coffee for lent. That will not work for me, I don't DO coffee!!! Have my grandsons 3rd birthday next week. I need to make a decision on what to get him. He is an outdoor boy....so something he can be outside with. Maybe some of the big old fashioned Tonka Toys. Well I am going to go fix miss Kinsey some breakfast. And call and check on my folks, Dad has been down with a terrible cold. Will talk to you girlies later! Kat

Mornin' Warriors! Rowed my butt off (literally) last night - couldn't stand up properly afterward :w00t: Getting better distance and feeling stronger every day. I don't know why I didn't figure this out sooner - my body LOVES exercise! I seem to get stronger every day, the second-day soreness is manageable and dare I say, even pleasureable (because I know I worked hard), and today I had to walk extra stairs at the train station because the track my train comes in on got changed, and I bounded up the stairs like a teenager! Wonderful NSV (TMI alert) - my 'back fat' is going away! Yep, it's not a pretty sight (yet) but it's definately less ugly than before I was banded...and I can't wait until I'm in shape to wear a low-cut or backless dress! The sun is shining, it's colder than you-know-what outside, but it's still a great morning!

Fabulous February Bandsters Unite!
greenthumb19 replied to tdteach99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on February 20 in Vermont and so far, everything is going pretty well. My only big complaint is the gas- my digestive system is rumbling so loudly it sounds like a war is going on in there! I just tried a couple of Gas X strips but no relief yet. I have to be careful when I "lift a cheek" as there is often liquid behind the gas (sorry for if this is TMI!). Any suggestions on for getting the rumbly gas under control? -
Another band problem.
SuzanneG replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Warning - may be TMI - I had food poisoning once when I was young. I threw up continuously for a week. Once I emptied my stomach of all food and liquid, I graduated to black throw up. It looked like asshes and Water to me, then on to yellow stuff that looked like Chinese mustard. I was told that the black and yellow stuff was the lining of my stomach and bile (sp?). I think if you were throwing up blood it would be RED, not black. Black blood is blood that has been in the intestinal tract for a long time. For instance if you were passing black stool, it would be possible that you have an ulcer high in the intestines, if you pass red blood in stool, probably a roid. Not sure if this info is helpful, but it's all I've got. Let us know what the doc tells you. Hope you're feeling better and don't leave there without a perscription for anti-nausea meds. -
Well your body has been thru a lot and needs time to recover. Hopefully life won't get too much in the way and you can sleep, probably the best healing for you right now anyway. Try to get some protien in, that should help with energy. I'm doing pretty well today. Pain in the shoulder is mostly gone. The cuts are a bit tender but not too bad. I just noticed they shaved my belly (TMI) and it's starting to itch a bit which is annoying.

Why do women have anal sex?
Ready4a2ndChance replied to Oregondaisy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, i'm new to the topic in question...........hi. lol. My husband and I have known eachother since we were 15. We tried this (meaning he tried it during a doggy style session without my permission) when we were like 17/18 and he didn't have a clue as to what he was doing and lets just say it ended with me screaming something about a broom up his ass and me crying and I left. Fastforward about 8yrs........now married. We tried it again, (this time I knew it was coming, lol) and it felt a little odd but after trying a couple more times I liked it more and more..............i've only ever done it with him, and he's only ever done it with me. We enjoy it on occassion, it's not something we do all the time and it's a great alternative when i'm on my period..........:tt2: a little TMI but it's great when I "sit" on him and have a silver bullet in front, amazing :tt2: -
Well, duh. Yeah, I was wondering about all that drama... I wonder what kind of conversation was going on in Blaine's house when that episode aired? Why were you proud? It's not as if they're your children who did the right thing. Personally, I thought it was BS. Me, not so much. I like the mom but find the daughter annoying and ugly. At least the pink daughter was pretty. On that we agree. I didn't mean to pick your post apart but for some reason, it just rubbed me the wrong way. TMI - it's TOM for me. Yeah, I never picked up on anything prior but that episode sure did try to imply something... I was thinking the same thing! I fell asleep watching it on DVR playback. DH had to tell me who got voted off. As for the Brown Dad, he clearly doesn't belong there and he completely grosses me out.

I originally started out thinking of bypass or gastric sleeve or lap band,I was open.Once all procedure were explained with pro's & con's my surgeon highly recomended lap band for me.Before the band I had SEVERE IBS(I was living on immodium,it was sooooo bad:crying:)He felt the bypass was not good to mess with my intestines since I was already prone to severe diarrhea(sorry if TMI).The sleeve he'd only performed 12.So I didn't want to be lucky #13.Plus the idea of them removing part of your stomach and throwing it away really creeped me out! I have a co-worker & friend who did bypass with the same surgeon 2 weeks prior to me.She has lost more weight than me and alot quicker. She also has been hospitalized for severe dehydration and has problems with low blood work and severe constipation! So there is 2 sides to every story. And one surgery is not right for everyone. I had a sucessful bander tell me that at least when the bypass people stomach streches back out we(banded) can have our's tightened! Made alot of sense to me!! I want a tool that keeps on working for me,the long term is what I'm concerned about not a quick overnight fix!! So we'll see........no regrets for me so far!!:blushing:
