    Fibroite sleever -

Hi, I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. I know this will sound so mechanical but it will get better. First, call your Dr for something to help with your nausea. There is no reason to feel so bad. I use a nonflavored Protein Drink called GENEPRO. I add it to my espresso every day. You need to get your nausea under control. Focus on getting your fluids in and push that protein hard. It doesn't take long for us to dehydrate. Are you sick before or after you eat or drink? Check with your Dr. You could have a Stricture. ( kind of like scar tissue) not to worry if it is there is an easy fix. They do an Endoscope and use a balloon to dilate your Stoma. Not trying to make problems where there isn't one but explore all of your options. Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing. BTW I also have Fibromylgia and my surgery has actually helped me some. So that might be something that helps you too.
  2. I notice that you drink coffee, I put unflavored GENEPRO, every day in my ESPRESSO. For me, it is a win-win because I would drink my ESPRESSO anyway.
  3. I saw the Genepro but was hesitant. Thank you for the information! Congrats on your weight loss!!!
  4. I too am 8 days post op and sick of sweetness. I bought genepro unflavored protein, put a half scoop in beef broth AFTER I heat it up and bam! 15gm protein for lunch and dinner. I also bought bariatric pal box of beef broth and it is sooo much more flavorful than store bought and comes with 15gm already. The chicken is nasty but I love the beef.
  5. GenePro is a little controversial in the bariatric community. Some people swear by it. But they've been sued as a scam, too. All I'll say is that they say you get 30g of protein out of a single tablespoon. And a tablespoon is 12.5 grams. They say they have reasons why that makes sense and maybe they do, but it sure makes you wonder.
  6. Get your protein, vitamins, and fiber in one easy shake! Give BariatricPal Protein One a try. 100% Satisfaction guaranteed! The unique blend provides 27 grams of high-quality whey protein, 28 essential vitamins and minerals, and 5 grams of fiber. It is quick and convenient, so you can get your nutrients and a delicious treat anywhere! If you don't want to commit to purchasing a 21-serving tub, we sell a single serving 4-flavor variety pack . You can check it out at https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/bariatricpal-protein-one We also carry Genepro, Syntrax and many other popular bariatric brands
  7. I used Premier for 2 weeks Preop and 4 weeks Postop. I had the back door trots the whole time. Finally, my Surgeon told me that I was more than likely Lactose Intolerant. Thanks. I use GENEPRO unflavored protein I put it in my coffee every day. I have tried so many different proteins, I would hate to know how much money I have spent. Also MYLOPLEX rich dark Chocolate is god as is ATkins. Guard against buying too much protein before your WLS. So many people have their taste changes. Good Luck

    any November 2017 sleevers?

I can’t do the shakes at all. It isn’t just the taste, but they make me queazy. My doctor approve for me to do these instead - see GenePro flavorless protein and Bariatric Choice Liquid protein (I like the berry flavor). Amazon delivers them fast if you are a prime member Or you can pay a little extra for delivery.
  10. Have you tried the GenePro powder? It’s unflavored but has a lot of protein.
  11. I use Genepro Medical Grade protein powder. I add a scoop of it to certain foods when I need to get my protein in. There is no taste to it. I mix it first in a small amount of liquid to get the clumps out then I mix it in whatever I put it in. I liked premiere choc protein shakes before surgery and still do. I have one a day. I use Genepro protein powder as a fill in. I bought my Genepro Medical Grade protein powder on Amazon. It delivered the same day - I was surprised. It comes in a small bag with 30 servings. I hope that helps.

    any November 2017 sleevers?

So I said I would post stats today. My name is Michelle, and live in Phoenix with my husband, but we have lived all over the US. HW 282 ish in 2012 or 2013 CW 268 (start of clear liquids on Saturday) GW 175 to start Height 5’1 and a half (every centimeter counts) Surgery date 11/17 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital in Arizona PCP clearance 11/6 Preop 11/7 Tip: if you use GenePro, try it in Celestial Seasonings Apple Cinnamon Spice. It’s pretty good.
  13. I use Genepro Medical Grade Protein powder. I bought it on Amazon.. $30 or $40 , don’t recall, but it has 30 servings in it. Each scoop is approx 30g protein (same as 1 premiere shake) I use a scoop of it and put it in my broth. It has NO taste. Once I move on to more foods I will add it to my yogurt, cottage cheese, anything. When you use it, to avoid clumping, I mix the protein powder in a few oz of liquid first. Mix it well to get rid of any clumps then I add it to my larger portion. I tried it as a recommendation on here from someone else. It works great for me!

    3 days out

I’m on day 5 today and it’s much easier getting my protein in. I struggled day 3 and phoned the nurse. I barely got anything down because it hurt under my breast bone as if the liquid was getting stuck. The nurse told me to just keep trying as it would get easier. Day 4, yesterday was much easier and I was able to finish 2 protein shakes! Today I had a premiere protein shake for breakfast which takes several hours to get.down. I also had about 3 oz of Fairlife nonfat milk - that tasted delicious. Then for lunch I had broth from homemade broth soup which I cooked carrots, celery and other veggies in. I then strained it using cheese cloth and drank just the broth. I added 1 scoop (30 gr protein) of Genepro medical grade protein powder (which doesn’t change the taste). It tasted so good! The broth will be my dinner too. I feel so much better today. Days 2-3 were pretty rough going and am glad I’m past that. Scdaniec...hang in there. It’ll get better. But if you seriously are lacking in the fluids you should phone the surgery nurse.

    Cant get enough protien

Use genepro , it is a medical grade protein powder. It has 30gm in one tablespoon and it mixes well with anything. You can get it at GNC it Amazon and price is about the same. Good luck
  17. Hi everyone! I'm trying to decide on an unflavored protein powder. I was going to go with Genepro since a friend recommended it, but if it's not really 30g of protein per scoop, is it really worth it? I've looked a little bit into Unjury and peeked at Isopure...I like the price point on Isopure better than the other two, but has anyone tried all 3? Are there any others that you would recommend?
  18. Can I just say I'm glad you put this out there? I love alone I'll be having surgery Nov 8th. My parents will be bringing me home and I'm pretty I'll have to duke it out with my mom about being left home alone, but I figure if I'm alone, I can rest (and heal) better! I'm packing up inedibles tonight to take to my parents and buying my Genepro on Friday. Your post let me know I'm on the right track

    Getting protein in post-op

I have checked GENEPRO out I also got kicked in the teeth from some on here. Also, when I said to concentrate on her fluids I am just stating what my DR and Nutritionist had told me. Yes, Protein Drinks count as fluids so I agree there try and try again. But...like I said it doesn't take long to become dehydrated which in turn is horrible. When your fluids up she may feel like she can add more of her protein. There are other nonflavored proteins out there. I think INJURY carries one. Whatever it takes. I'm sorry if I offended anyone on here. I will still use my GENEPRO. It works for me!! Have a good one!!

    Getting protein in post-op

Yes...., BUT....., For the time you aren't getting all your protein in your body is cannibalizing your muscles to get the protein it needs to heal. You NEED protein to HEAL. It's medicine. To heal your staple line and your laparoscopic holes. The sooner you get it in the less muscle mass you will lose. Yes fluids are important too for dehydration, but fluid protein shakes count too! Why not try for both? I almost recommended the protein hot chocolate too, but I pulled out my box and the top sources of protein on it include hydrolyzed gelatin which isn't a great source for a healing body it's not very bioavailabile. And I'd recommend anyone considering Genepro do a bit of reading and research.... it's quite controversial.

    Getting protein in post-op

FOCUS on your FLUIDS!!! Your protein will come as you get further out. You definitely want to get your water in, it doesn't take us long to become dehydrated. As far as the Protein Drinks, they have a Hot Chocolate thru BariatricPal and it as 15grams of protein in it. They also sell Chicken Noodle Soup (I just didn't eat the noodles myself) it also has 15grams of protein. My favorite is GENEPRO also sold on BariatricPal. It is the only unflavored Protein I have found that I can handle. I would hate to find out how much $$ I actually paid for Protein that I couldn't handle. My nephew uses Protein, so at least my $$ wasn't totally wasted!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

    Does it taste good?

Do some research on Genepro. It's quite controversial.

    Does it taste good?

GenePro has no flavor so what ever flavoring you add to the water and powder is what it tastes like. It cost about $1 per serving of 8oz water and 1 scoop GenePro and it gives you 30 grams of Protein. I drink 1 glass every morning and helps me make sure I meet my protein goals.

    Does it taste good?

I never found any I thought tasted good. I buy GenePro on Amazon. Mix in water, add a water flavoring and it's 30 grams of protein and tastes good. Sent from my XT1585 using BariatricPal mobile app

    What do you “EAT”

Protein drinks are the staple early out; I would avoid that Genepro stuff as it neatly fits into the "too good to be true" miracle supplement scam category (and nobody really knows what it is.) Whey protein, preferably whey isolate, is the well accepted, best absorbed form. I also had greek yogurt, eggs, and some sloppy tuna salad, though those may not be permitted on some diets the first week or two - check with your program directions.
