Will My Boobs Lose Weight?
It's all new replied to Jenny881's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes - at 255 I was a 42G and at 180 I am a 36DDD. I know i am going to keep shrinking even more. In fact, I am anticipating needing a lift for sure by the time I'm at goal, and maybe implants. Seems like more and more of what is going to remain will be loose skin rather than breast tissue - TMI maybe, but that's the reality! -
I will be traveling alone flying from Dallas to Mission, KS. Were you OK with wheeling you luggage around? I plan on packing as light as possible to keep the weight down. What kind of stuff have you been eating? I feel so much better today. No naps so far and my Creamy Soups are going down much better. I was able to take a full 8oz in one sitting. Gotten in 32 oz of Water so far today. I may try for one more water bottle before hitting the sack. It sure is good to hear that you are doing well. The Milk of Mag. worked, OMG, won't do that again. Crap, my intestines are rocking and rolling. Next time 1/3 the dose for sure. I know, TMI. Thanks for the post and have a good rest of you trip. Any trip suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks, D:D

Gallbladder removal: friend or foe?
brandnewbie replied to cyncitygirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't speak to being gallbladderless post sleeve, but I can tell you that gallstones are much more painful than having it out. :-) It is a laproscopic procedure and recovery is pretty minimal compared to other things. Once it is gone if you do eat less than innocently your body might rebel a lil, which can be a good thing to keep you in check. Just remember when you are sick to keep drinking fluids because bile in its pure form, really unpleasant. Sorry if it's TMI, just cpl things I wish I had known b4 mine. Still worth having done because they are once in a while annoyances compared to mind numbingly painful consistent attacks. -
I have an ob/gyn appointmnet in a few weeks but wondered if anyone else was encountering odd cycles? Mine seem longer and heavier, with more spotting. Anyone else bring this up to their doctor?

Hey bronx new yorkers I have joined the sleeved club. I was sleeved on 4/11/12 and everything went great according to doctors. I wanted to get out the bed about 3pm and want to drink water but had to wait that was Thursday in the am. Now Thursday afternoon I made a bad turn and felted really sick and could not drink anything I could not even lay down. So I got worried and the doctors did too. I was kept longer and sent for a CT and 2 nebs. I was off the pain killer early because I was so ichy. Turns out that I had a running nose and as it feel to the back of my throat it may it hard for me to cough and it also caused a painful coughing attack. I was just taking tylenol the first night and had a hard time. As for today I am drinking 4 - 6 oz of clear and i crushed the vicodin because of the painful coughing. My husband brought me some sugar free cough drops that is also helpful for the cough. Finally I don't regret it I am doing good. TMI sorry I past gas like crazy and finally went poop. lol calling doctor's office for my after surgery appts.

Hey gang, long time no talk! I had a worrisome thing happen last night that I need feedback on. I'm down quite a bit, and I know at home I've had to adjust my cpap range downward. I hadn't adjusted my travel CPAP because I can't do that myself. Up through last month, it wasn't an issue that that was operating at a higher pressure. Last night, though, was using it in my hotel room and it just felt almost overwhelming suddenly, but i just went with it. I however, woke up in the middle of the night with my stomach hurting. I had a lot of air in me, I presume maybe from too much pressure? I stopped using it for the rest of the night and was better by am, but I had to (TMI) get a lot of that air out of my system, one way or another, in order to feel better, and even now, my tummy feels achy. Do you think I could have hurt my stomach with that at 5 months out? Should I be calling the doc? I probably will anyway, jsut to be safe, but I wanted to ask if anyone who had been on cpap ever had this happen. I know the very first night out of surgery that I was not allowed to use my CPAP to protect my stomach from injury, but I would think at this far out... anyway, any experience sharing would be great!

Woo woo!! Valentina -- you scored big with "Jewels of June"!!! I love it!!! I'm off this board for one day (getting an EKG & blood work from the PCP) and this is what I've missed! Okay -- as a "Jewel of June" I'm sticking with what I know...a deep, deep purple Amethyst! Its my birth stone & comes in a color that this 56 yr old hippie still finds very "groovy'! Just finished Day Two of pre-op diet -- Slim Fast Low Carb RTD shakes vanilla & chocolate are drinkable...mixed with a little coffee -- not too shabby. My soon to be sleeved stomach isn't thrilled -- rumbling with gas and diarrhea. The big D is my arch nemesis -- I have it pretty often -- one of the many reasons I would never have bypass -- my intestines work too efficiently -- there are days I worry I won't ever leave the bathroom. Okay -- I know TMI! Does anyone know if you can take Imodium after surgery???

:cheer2: With a birthday on Valentine's Day, I will also go with amethyst. Since my SO is a jeweler, I will have to be amethyst surrounded by Kts. and Kts of diamonds!!! The more glitz, the better!!! I have my final consultation with my surgeon this morning. YIKES!!! Wish me well, fellow "JEWELS OF JUNE". :grouphug: [quote name='kwikwits' timestamp='1305865006' post='152882'] Woo woo!! 6 days post op ???'s please help!!
MrsG replied to pookiemp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well not more TMI than this...the only reason I was able to add mashed potatoes is because from Sat-Mon I had the worst diarrhea ever!!! I couldn't keep anything I was having and was to the point of being sick. I'm glad to say, I've bounced back and recovered from that part. I drank sooo much water today-messed myself up..but I cut out that dang stomach growling problem I was having. -
I'm still pre op until Monday. I'm on a 10 day liquid diet. Yesterday I pretty gagged and cried while getting my protein shakes down. Today I've thrown both up. Sorry if that's tmi. Broth doesn't make me full and my unflavored protein isn't here yet. I live in a very rural small town. What did you guys do on your pre op?

Anyone else come home for surgery with diarrhea?
shellyd67 replied to HopeandAgony's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, in fact it has been the opposite for me. I only go every other day now and sometimes I need to use miralax for constipation. TMI sorry???? -
Warning: this may be TMI! BUT I don't know who else to share it with! So... this morning at church I feel a little strange, I hop into the bathroom and lo and behold, I'm spotting! I grab the tampon that's been in my purse for about a year and a half since my last period. It's really dark and very very light. Normally, I'm very heavy... so I'm thinking this is just day one. I am just so excited! I've been so heavy and haven't had a "natural" period since 2001ish. I went off birth control about a year and a half ago. I'm just so excited! I came back from the bathroom at church and wanted to tell someone, but figured that was definately an inappropriate topic for church. lol. I guess I'm just so thrilled because being banded was the first step to getting pregnant... getting my period is definately the second step. Now to lose all the weight and begin the baby factory! I told my husband, but I don't think he really understood the thrill. He actually said "Man, that takes out 25% of the year for sex." Men....

I got what I thought was my period 12 days after my surgery. I was pretty excited cause it was so light and only three days. Well, surprise surprise 15 days later I have it again and all HOLY HELL it is heavy. (sorry if TMI) It is finally slowing down and I hope will be done soon. But on a positive note, I did lose 4.8lbs this past week. And in the past I don't normally lose when I have my period. I am hoping next month will go back to being lighter and more like they were before surgery.

Has Dr. Alvarez had any VSG Leaks?
Bob_350lbs replied to ChroniclesofaFATGIRL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What does <3 mean? We will all help keep you sane, but this is going to be one crazy wild ride to the thin side. I am so excited for all of us! We are gonna be one of those skinny bitches wearing all kinds of cute clothes in size small. For me, it's never to late to be the person you have always wanted to be..never too late for a happy childhood either. By the way, I know this is TMI...BUT.....after 6 weeks of either constipation or diarrhea...I had my first regular BM!!! Yay! I am normal again. After I started adding veggies to everything....mother nature finally kicked in..gee, I hope I weigh less tomorrow.. -
Any May 26th Sleevers out there?
mtraverse replied to scoutmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am doing great!!! Was sleeved in May 26th. Three month follow up was on Friday. The surgeon who I saw(not mine.????) told me I have lost 65% of my excess weight and he was saying I was doing good but then corrected himself and said very good. He doesn't give compliments easily, so it was a big booster and made me feel so proud of me! It def. put me into such a great mood and really revitalized my eagerness and excitement about surgery! My NUT also said I am doing great but she says that all the time. Love her! Have had a couple terrible eating days throughout this journey so far. Both directly related to period week. ( TMI) but I managed to regroup and recover from both. It is very challenging mentally to do that to myself. I need to learn so much still. I am excited I get to eat salad again, been a long time. Had one on Friday night in fact! It was Fabulous!!!! Downsides for me have really been mental. I physically feel great! People are forever complimenting me which is so sweet! My brain still needs to catch up to what I am doing! Hope you all are doing well, feeling well and losing all you expected. Btw I was 255.6 on my first visit with doctor a year ago. SW was 204.7. And CW is 165.4. 90lbs total and almost 40 since surgery! Getting closer to my goal daily/ weekly/ monthly!! -
I just had eggs this morning and it was my first food and I was able to eat all 1/4 of it and it took me a lil to realize I was full. I had burp when I finished eating, sorry I'd that tmi lol.

Im hungry. I do a shake and an hour and half later I'm starving. My blood sugar is also getting really low which makes me hungry. I believe I'm going to have to back off the diabetes meds now. I meet with the surgeon tomorrow to sign consents...and I BET I haven't lost any weight. I feel bloated and TMI I'm PMSing. Not a good time to get on the scale. Maybe he won't be too upset. I'm not having surgery til June so that gives me some time to loose some weight. They said to shoot for 10lbs. Just enough to get my liver in shape apparently. I would, however, like to loose more pre-op. Rant over Hi! May I suggest some strategies for this PreOP step? First of all, you are trying to shrink your liver. Dr told me not to worry about losing at this point, just get 60-80g Protein in each day and to avoid carbs and sugars, but drink lots of Water. I use Propel, and Powerade Zero to fill in between my bottled water, and am getting about 64-70 oz in daily. I have lost some weight without trying. I started at 223, 218 when I got my PreOP diet, and am now at 215. I suppose I will be about 210 at surgery. I would make sf Jello, put your nonfat cot cheese in it--tastes great with lime, cherry, orange, etc. I also got sf popsicles, and also eat lean fish and chicken. I did eat a burger patty tonite and blotted all the fats away from it. I put some plain horseradish on it. I use pepper to flavor with. My protein supplements are Premier and Muscle Milk light that I got at costco. Those taste very good. You mix with water the Muscle Milk. I got Premier premixed shakes to carry with me when I am out on errands, etc. I try to vary what I eat as much as I can to break the monotony of the diet. As is, the diet is cut and dry. Mine is revision surgery, so am being extra careful with this and the whole phase of my journey. If you are low in sugars, do not take any more pills or insulin as that would just make you drop dangerously low. Also, make sure you take your vitamins--a multi, Calcium, B12 sublinguals, vit D3(this absorbs the calcium). My thinking is you may not be getting enough liquid in your diet. I hope this helps! Good luck!

pain and uncomfortable
drae0879 replied to kittykat123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jiust banded on the 14th. I'm uncomfortable and stopped using my pain meds a few days ago. I think they made me worse. Now my port site which was unbearable at times is SO MUCH BETTER! I can do a few more things I wasn't able to do like use the bathroom properly (tmi) I know! But hey, you take those things for granted. So it doesn't hurt as much to get out of bed as it does to get in to bed and I still can't drive yet ( I don't feel back to normal yet and I definately need a nap during the day. One thing I did learn the hard way is to make sure you're hydrated before taking your pain meds! I was sick for a full 24hrs! Ugh! I get this burp/convulsion feeling that doesn't turn into anything but pain. I take a deep breath and the pain goes away. Don't know what that is, but it scares me! I don't like that feeling. I've burped a whole 2 times since Tuesday! I would like to actually burp more! I felt like my stomach was gonna come out of my mouth but the release was great! Coughing/sneezing sucks! I have to hold my port site when I feel either one comming on. I can't sit in certain positions yet because of the port site, which sucks because I am a creature of habit. Oh well. Every day things get better! Thank God! If I was to do this again I would! I'm already down 12pounds from surgery! Yay! -
Semi-Embarrassing Question For The Ladies... (Sex-Related)
MrsFlipFlops replied to Angelyco's topic in The Gals' Room
froggi- I totally know how you feel. It's getting better now a days... but I count it as a workout too. I'm 330, 5'7" and I can straddle my hubby. He's pretty skinny around the waist though. Actually, had a NSV the other day... hope this isn't tmi- but there's not as much fat in the nether-regions now- actually "scored" without my hubby having to work his fingers! That's NEVER happened for me. -
Anybody else have diarrhea before surgery. My surgery is Wednesday and my stomach has been so upset.
-
I had to get my mind together. I was doing some regretting about having the surgery. Yet I stepped on the scale and I am down 3lbs and now 4 days post op. I finally got my medication and gas is starting to finally come out due to a lot of walking. I am tolerating A LOT more now, getting my fluids in and (this may be tmi) but I pooped Lmao!!!! I was to excited... I was like that had to relieve some gas. I am sure my surgeons office is sick of me but I call for every little thing. Better sage than sorry. Still some soreness but im gonna go ahead and start taking my pain meds... I'm starting to get excited all over again!!!
