New food intolerances after revision?
Shells_Almost_There replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I find that I can't have the protein bars or shakes that I relied on before and after VSG. Now, they are too sweet and (sorry, TMI) I almost immediately get the shakes (dumping) and will probably have to run to the bathroom. And really, that's what's changed the most after my revision to RNY - I haven't had more than maybe 5 normal BMs in 19 months. -
April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
AngieB2009 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay Bunnies - Here is my update. 1. WEIGHT- 246 ya baby! 2. FILLS- I have had 3 fills. With a total of 1.6 in my band. (I have a 4cc band.) 3. RESTRICTION- Good level of restriction. I am eating a cup of food per meal. (unless I have slider foods.) I feel satisfied and have no hunger pains for hours after eating. 4. RULES-I feel like I am doing good with the bandster rules. 5. ANYTHING ELSE- Going to have some lab work done to check my Vitamin levels. Noticing more bruising so I am wondering how my Iron is? I have been taking a liquid multi Vitamin A few times a week, along with calcuim, E, and NeoCell. I have noticed some hair loss, nothing to alarming. TMI alert - I notice I poop less than I use to, and it is often harder. On the verge of to hard. Yikes! Hard to eat Fiber, and I am terrible about adding it in to my diet. Right now I have the powder and think the chewable tablets would be much better for me. (I could count them as a snack...a little humor there!) I drink coffee in the morning and then hit the vitamin Water. 60 oz a day. -
Does anyone get chronic stomach pain?
CapK replied to Shelleyvdp's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The dumping is brutal, but I agree with catwoman7... Only a minority of people get it. I dealt with it extremely badly twice (in one month), but if I am very careful about what I eat, its not a problem. If you do get it, work on finding your triggers and avoid them. I got RNY because of GERD and it is amazing not to have to deal with it anymore. Random stomach pain I get is usually always solved with extra fiber or gas relief. I have noticed that what I would consider constipated before is different than now, (TMI sorry) if I don't have a bowel movement at least once daily I get abdominal pain from it. Weird yes, but that's the new normal. -
Constipation, BM and other embarrassing stuff
Idlewood4 replied to Donna22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 days out,and I have the same problem. Hospital said narcotic pain killers are a big culprit. I am trying to keep the clear fluids goings, and stay hydrated. I'm walking. Starting yesterday, (once I was home and wiih Dr's. okay I started a stool softener, and a gummy Fiber chew. I'm letting the fiber chew melt in my mouth before I swallow it. I also moved to liquid Tylenol which seems to be managing the pain ok. Moving into the TMI category, I have passed some gas, and just a little liquid poo-twice. Labels said it could take 12 to 36 hours to work, so I'm just hoping. That's actually the cause of my worst pain right now. Good luck everyone. -
Surgery tomorrow
tebowfan replied to thesupportedhalf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They scared me cause they put some machine on my stomach/bladder to see how much was in it and it was gonna pop. It's very awkward having 2 nurses working on that, tmi! You feeling alright tonight? -
I don't know if I am experiencing dumping syndrome or not. But I had TMi; vomitting and diarhea for over 12 hours. or due to me not eating enough, and eating the wrong foods :S or simply the 24 hour bug. I had no incidences now for 3 hours. I can keep food and water down now. So I hope this not fun day has passed. Update: Other then today, everything is going great. Down 27 lbs now. Trying to do a bit of cardio, I was supposed o strength train but my body had other plans. Soon going to add my 2 month measurements

I Had A Kick A*% Saturday! Literally...just Need To Vent & Get Encouragement.
JD7176 posted a topic in Rants & Raves
If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any at all...Saturday was one of the worst days I've had in a while. It started well...pedicure, excited to go to a friend's bridal shower, but quickly went bad. I had my first post op meltdown yesterday as I was trying to get dressed to attend the bridal shower. See I've always prided myself on my appearance and clothing. I was a plus size fashionista of some sort. I had my ensemble planned out in my head and was excited since I hadn't really dressed up in a while. I'm a teacher who had her surgery right at the beginning of summer vacay and its been a lot of sweats, tshirts and elastic. Yesterday my clothes were too big....not just "oh there's a little extra room" too big, but falling off my shoulder too big. AND my bra was too big. You could see the cup collapsing under the clingy shirt. I tried 4 different bras and 2 shirts before I broke down. I had a full on temper tantrum. Of course I'm happy, but who wants to look a mess? I finally compromised with myself and headed out the door. Because of the meltdown I was running late for the shower. Then I was even later because the hall sat back from the street, behind another building and I drove past it back and forth for 15 minutes. Finally made it, go in and....I FALL DOWN the last 6 or so steps. I didn't kill myself, but I could feel my ankle throbbing. By the end of the shower I knew it was going to be bad. At home, the swelling and pain picked up. It's painful to walk and all I can think about is I won't be able to work out.... I'm only 6 weeks out and am losing at a ok rate, but when I work out, of course I'm pulling down some pretty damn good numbers. I already was going to see my reg doc on Monday so I'll have her take a look at it and pray for the best. THEN...guys this is your cue to leave. Ladies tmi coming. Then after 1.5 years my cycle starts! My cycle was purposely stopped in Jan 2011 because I have large fibroids. I was given hormone injections every 3 months, but had to stop them in preparation for surgery because of the risk of blood clots. So while I haven't been searching for my cycle I had been a little concerned because the last injection was Feb 2012. Well aunt flo showed right on up yesterday with a wrath....crimson tide! I'm feeling better about everything today. The swelling on the ankle is going down and I'm controlling the pain. Have an luncheon to attend today and I already tried on the dress lol. Can't wear the shoes I had picked out, but I'll be fine. I still am angry about the cycle though.... Thanks for "listening" to me fuss! *kisses* -
I'm hoping it will. I've had great results so far, and I've gone from having hair basically all over the front of my neck and along my jawline to only having a couple of spots on my neck that are about the size of a dime each. From what I can tell so far, all the visible hair follicles in both of those spots seems to have had a reaction to this last treatment. If I need more treatments, though, they've said that they aren't as expensive as the whole package was. I think it's something like $50 if it's less than 10 hairs, a little more expensive for more hair. Believe me, don't let yourself get talked out of laser treatment because of the pain. Even as painful as this last treatment was, I'd still do it again in a heartbeat. And seriously, this treatment was over in less than 3 minutes with the wet laser. even with the tech going over a few spots multiple times. It really hurt, but it was FAST. It probably would have felt better, honestly, if I'd had the same technician that I'd used for the other treatments. The other one was better about stopping for a bit when it was getting too painful for me. This one would only hesitate a few seconds if I flinched away from the laser. I'm definitely going to try to save up for more laser treatments. I'm hoping that my eventual tummy tuck will get rid of most of my abdominal hair (TMI, probably), but my leg and arm hair is very obvious. Even after shaving, you can see my leg hair follicles because I'm so fair-skinned. And I've been waxing my arms, so I'm tempted to just do laser on them.

Bi-Polar Meds - The skinny and the fat
Poodles replied to BeacheeGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I loved Effexor, but it caused sexual side effects that hurt my DH. I was taken off of Effexor and put on Cymbalta. My sister is Bi-Polar, and he has found success with Cymbalta as well. That is the main reason I requested it. A side effect of Cymbalta is weight LOSS, so that is good, and I have noticed a heck of a difference in my back pain... as in it is no longer a problem. My MIL says I either don't have it any more, or don't care that it is there. It has also helped with the sexual side effects, (TMI: I can climax again and become aroused). Good luck! -
Anyone Here With Simular Stats?
Caradina replied to bethany1987's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm close too... 5'9 HW - 267 SW - 258 CW - 233 GW - 150I'm 33, and we had surgery on the same day btw! I was sitting at 242 for a week, its been kinda slow. Then I cheated and had... coffee! Coffee did what it does for me (TMI) and well... I lost 7 lbs. LOL It'll come. Just be patient. My best friend is also similar stats but she is alittle over 2 months out and down almost 70 lbs, but she said it was slow at first. -

Pre-Op Testing Today: Slightly Over 2 Weeks Till Surgery - It's Gettin' Real.
sleevemeup replied to Patrick Curl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patrick, with your commitment, I know you will do great! You will be ahead of me, so I am watching you (not in a stalking way).... I'm really hoping the drain thing doesn't happen to me, that's what grosses me out. The catheter, well for women ( I had one with my c-section), wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I did pee myself (tmi?) once just after they took it out b/c I couldn't feel it until, well it was too late. My husband, just like your wife are very supportive, so we are very lucky. Your time will come before you know it! -
Getting graphic here but I decided not to do the wax because it's like 60 bucks around here. EEK! Why couldn't Santa bring me a gift card. So i'm going back to shaving. I'm thinking of just shaving the bikini line and trimming the rest. Do you girls shave between your legs? I don't usually get razor bumps there so it's mainly the mons area where I get bumps. Anyway! Hopefully not TMI or too personal questions.

Thanks ladies...I know this is TMI but if I could just pooh I would feel a ton better!

Is there anything you wish you knew before surgery?
VSG_Me_2019 replied to Zemi's topic in The Gals' Room
I wish I had known how real the struggle would be with constipation... lol TMI maybe, but I'm sure most people who have had the surgery would agree. I was someone who NEVER had issues pre-surgery, so I was surprised when I had to start using products to go. It makes sense, but it wasn't on the list of things I talked about with my surgeon pre-op haha. -
Five day follow up
Cl@ireyBearry replied to LisaCh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your worries and fears are all normal, I have has extreme dumping in my first month, and every once in a while now, (3 months post op) I remember the day I had an actual mostly solid BM! About 3-4 weeks post op? My family and I actually celebrated even though people talk about poop like it’s TMI! I tried to keep taking sips of water every 10 mins, and all I could stomach was chicken broth for the first 10 days. Jello and popsicles (sugar free) helped a lot. Also, about 2 weeks after my surgery I began to have a fever every day from about 2 pm to 8pm sometimes longer. I had one infected site (robotics) and when I did get the antibiotics, they stopped all digestion. But I made it through. You may have some worries and fears, but that’s normal. And as long as you just do your best to follow the diet guidelines, you WILL lose weight! Cheers! -
I've finally begun to date again. The first guy was gushy about thinking that we were made for each other and even mentioned eventual marriage... on the FIRST date! I didn't go out with him again. I've just met someone a week ago who is pretty nice, but he has been calling and texting me much more than I am comfortable with and is also talking about when "he and I can become we". It has only been a week! He is also very physical and I feel like I'm starting to have to insist on not being so touchy feely. Is this normal? I'm almost to the point where I don't want to date, and am wondering if it is just me or just the luck of the draw in meeting these two guys. Also.... (TMI alert)... I don't like french kissing and both of these guys seemed to want to chase my tonsils down my throat! Forgive my rant. I'm just not quite able to handle myself in this area yet, especially in handling the kissing issue. Any suggestions?

Having Lap-Band to Gastric Sleeve revision
ctarantino replied to littlebare's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm now 6 days post op and every day I wake I feel better and soooooo happy I did this! Definitely needed my tool back. Minimal pain, I'm off all pain meds. I take Carafate acid reducer and reflux meds and nausea meds on occasion. I haven't gone # 2 and have taken colace so today gonna bring out the big guns (dulcolax) and hopefully poop. ((Sorry tmi))) ???????? backed up my belly is still beyond swollen, but can feel I'm losing weight. I'm sipping water and protein shake by day. At night I sit with the family and have my broth and a 1/4c tea before bed. So complaints here and so happy this is behind me!!! Happy Sleeve day to others and my revision sisters!!! ???????????????????? -
A TMI moment for you. I've always joked that I'm hung like a Japanese pornstar. Imagine my surprise when I look down at my morning wood and my penis is longer! I immediately call in Jeanna to enjoy this "miracle"! She comes in and deflates my excitement by saying that it isn't.???? That is when I realized that perspective is everything, my junk isn't bigger, my belly is smaller! Heck yeah! A win is a win and I'll take it!

...or there was the time a skinny-minny completely clueless new OB-GYN I was sent to for a biopsy kept shaking her head about 'how she didn't know if she could do the biopsy since when you're big on the outside, you're big on the inside too...' -- saying this while her gloved hand is inside me feeling for my ovaries - obviously already a pretty vulnerable position, both physically and emotionally -- then she started going on about how she might have to call in "a special team" to help her "because I was so big" -- but I just bore-down, gritted my teeth and did what I could physically to help her get what she needed (sorry if TMI...) -- then after getting my biopsy results (thank God was fine...), I NEVER went back to her -- she gave me some serious PTSD about OB-GYN visits, that's for sure... sooooo glad we're all on our way to a better life in so many ways ---

SEPTEMBER 2014 POST-OP SLEEVERS CHECKING IN!
LaLoLaughs replied to Rovobay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I barely made the cutoff for this thread. Got sleeved on the 30th. I was discharged 2 days post op, but bc I was given the option by my doctor to stay another night and I decided that might be best just to ensure, in my mind at least, that everything was fine. I'm easing off the liquid Tylenol with codeine and trying to use it only at night. I am/was a tummy & side sleeper, so that has been my biggest issue, both in terms of frustration and pain. Thankfully it is getting easier. I haven't been tracking my fluid intake too heavily but will do so today. I was pumped with so many fluids during my stay, that I haven't had much thirst and my urine is on track (TMI?). The lack of hunger is amazing to me. Not going to lie though, the head hunger has tripped me up a couple of times. I'm also trying really hard not to jump on the scale until my 1st post-op visit on the 8th-we shall see how long that lasts :-) One question-as a severe seasonal allergy sufferer, I'm taking liquid Allegra everyday. Thankfully, it's keeping most symptoms at bay. However that occasional sneeze and nose blowing is so painful. I found out the hard way NOT to hold in a sneeze-that was the most painful thing during the entire process so far. Any tips on how to make it less painful to sneeze? -
Oh, the noises coming out of me these days... (possibly TMI haha)
LindaD posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 3 weeks post op and moving onto some regular foods. I'm eating healthy, exercising every day, and my calories are reasonable (I haven't had a fill yet). But geez.... my body wants to make so much noise!! My rumbling stomach - even when I'm not at all hungry, I feel like it's making SO much noise that surely other people can hear it! hahah I'm glad I have my own office at work. Anyone else? And as for other bodily noises, well, they're coming out both ends! I didn't have issues with indigestion or gas or anything before. And I don't FEEL like I have those things going on inside of me even now. I mean, I have no desire to run for Tums or anything. Yet, I burp. A lot - way more than I ever have in my life. They're different, shallow, sneaky. I don't even want to talk about the other. LOL Anyone else? Is this just adjustment or is this how it will be going forward? I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, just trying to figure out if anyone else whent through this and came out the other side with a quieter body.
