Congrats! That's awesome!! A definite victory for you!!! My dinner tonight was @ Mexican with a girlfriend I haven't seems in months. I'm not sleeved yet (55 days to go!) but I've been trying to liquid diet as much as I can beforehand. I was so proud of myself: NO CHIPS even though they were on the table in front of me. I ordered chicken fajitas & was able to ignore the soft tortillas on the side. I grinned all the way home thinking that must have been my first NSV.

Yes, I did it.....I was with all my relatives at a burger joint last Thursday and I did not want to deal with eating a hamburger without the bun, greasy fries or fried chicken sandwiches....so, I thought, "screw it" I am having a turtle sundae! My sister decided to have one too, so I went inside to order....now mind you, this place has the BEST cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings on the face of the planet (I am hoping when I get to heaven this burger joint is there, if you know what I mean!!)...so, anyway, I am smelling this food and watching people stuffing their mouths and all of a sudden I order only ONE turtle sundae for my sister. So instead of eating a whole turtle sundae (and they are huge....$5.00 huge!!) I just had a couple bites of my sister's sundae and was happy (and proud of myself). Just another wonderful NSV.....

NSV - Crossing my legs!
built2livenotexist replied to audefacere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! It happened for the first time on Friday while I was in my therapists office. I looked down and said, " Hey, I'm crossing my legs!" Then I started bawling. I hadn't crossed my legs in....I don't even know how long. This was the best NSV yet. -
Scale and non-scale victories!
The Candidate replied to Jessicacherry3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You won the double lottery of scale and NSV victories in one. That is indeed a reason for celebration! Way to go! -
Very excited today. I was able to buy jeans in Old Navy! Have never fit in their jeans. Bought a size 18 skinny jeans. Haven't worn an 18 in about 15 years! Also was able to buy size L tops. I'm 10 weeks post op and was in a 24 jeans and a 2x-3x top! It feels good!

awesome NSV! I took one of my nieces to see a movie sunday afternoon and realized I am going to have to start bringing a sweater to the movies - even in a long sleeve tshirt I was freezing! and i never used to get cold...ever. -
So my emotions are on full blast these past two days. My very best friend has been fighting for her life since May 2009. She has had some major victories as well as many setbacks. Friday she was given another nasty setback. Anyway, she has now begun some "finals" and I am not dealing with it very well. One of our things was Disneyland. Girls trips to Disneyland just because. She told me last night we need to plan another trip soon. I have ALWAYS been an emotional eater and these past two days have been bad. I have maintained my eating within my band parameters, but find myself searching out food. Anyway, I guess I can look at this as a NSV of sorts, but it is hard finding joy while thinking of the future. All I want to do is cry. Thanks for letting me "vent". MY OWN NSV! Went to BIL/SIL house today. Ate 2 shrimp, 1/2 of the inside of a stuffed cabbage, a little potato salad and a little creamy Jello stuff ( cool whip, pudding kind of thing). I had no dessert/ no wine or drinks. One other meal today (b'fast) scrambled egg and one piece whole wheat toast. Feel so good that I had control (this year at least). I have one week to get below 200 (aiming for 198 by 12/31) and I so want to be there.

I once had the bad seat. I actually thought that it was my leg hitting the button, but I actually had a bad seat that wouldn't stay up! Well congratulations on your NSV! It is a great one that you should be very proud of!

I had my sleeve at Loyola University Medical Center almost a year ago 12/23/2013......went home on Christmas Day. My recovery has been textbook, my weight loss slow. So far I have gone from 235 to 170, which is more than I have ever or could have done on my own. My goal is 135, which was my healthiest adult weight, but I would feel good at 150. Since I am retired, I did not have to worry about getting back to work. From your picture, it looks like you have the advantage of youth. The hardest part about my journey was the pre-op waiting and waiting and waiting for the process to move along. If you have no complications, you may still feel kinda cruddy for the first couple of weeks. As the pounds fall off, you will feel better and better. You have many non-scale victories (NSVs) to look forward to. I wish you good luck and good health. PS, I am a little familiar with Mercy Hospital, such as it was in 1992. I supervised housekeepers for about a year until a foot injury caused me to find a sit down job. I remember there being a convent on the 14th floor, and I had been on the roof once at night to view the skyline. My territory was the basement levels with the offices and morgue, the lobby, the ER and clinics.

There was many times I thought I was in the green zone along the way only to have it subside days or even a week and half later. It took me about 6 almost 7 months post op before I was finally in a spot that worked for me. Those 6+ months were some frustrating times back in forth. I have to admit now that I am in the green zone the head hunger is more controllable and at times I wonder if my band has more to do with it then my state of mind. As a friend on here told me I do tend to over analyze things. Bandster hell was rough and the only way I got through it was by not having the tempting foods around me. I was a severe junk food addict and I simply could not keep it in the house. I still do not keep in the house even now but now that I am in the green zone I feel I have more control. Urge just isn't there but I cannot tell you for sure if it is just me embracing my new lifestyle, will power or the band or just a combination of all of it. I have not had a fill since January 29, 2012. April 16 will be my two year anniversary. My most challenging part of this journey has been my patience. I went through periods of up and down frustrations with the scale. I slowly started recognizing that there are other factors to consider when losing weight. Look for NSV's AKA non scale victories. Watching and feeling myself go from a size 62 waist to a 36 was more rewarding than any number on a scale.

Just ran out on my lunch hour to d**k's Sporting Goods to get goggles for my swimming lessons.... they were having a clearance sale ( additonal 50% lowest ticket price). I purchased 3 Dri-Fit workout shirts in size MEDIUM... MED-DEE-UMMMMMMM!!!! for $6 each... I was tempted to buy more but since I still have weight to lose these will due for now.... They had a LOT of XL and XXL stuff on the clearance rack..not much in medium... So I was reminded 1 of the downsides of losing weight...the middle sizes are the first to go... the extremely tiny and the humungous clothes seem to hang around the racks a little longer, especially in stores like this...

NSV....no seat belt extender on the planes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
esv2000 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey all, I am really happy to report that I no longer needed a seat belt extender on recent flight and I was thrilled!!!!!!!!!!! -
An NSV is a non scale victory...something that has happened as a result of weight loss, but has nothing to do with scale numbers... When I didn't know what it meant, I guessed that it meant New Skinny Victory...and to be honest, I still say that in my head when I see/type it! Rain

hahaha! I am just weening my 18 month year old from breast feeding anyhow my mom decided it was time for me to throw away the nursing bras and get me some with a bit more support! He He He...anyhow I went into the Bra shop and was looking around at size 22 (18usd) around the torsoe with a DD cup...hmmm the sales person asked if I had been fitted recently...to which I explained ahhh No! so the bustled me off to the dressing room and started fitting me...OK so my cup size was G australian sizing (lots for an eventual new man to play with) but the size around the torsoe was actually a size 18 ( equiv...14USD) I was stoked...Yay! becky

Congratulations Becky, Look for the size to be even lower as you continue to lose weight. I went from a 42DD to a 36B. Great NSV!!!

What is a realistic WL monthly target?
Sleeved36 replied to BajanSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Everyone is right, there is no exact answer. If you follow your surgeon's plan, work with the nutritionist, and exercise you will lose weight and inches. And gain so much more! Checkout the NSV thread, it is my favorite -
PQ, that is a wonderful NSV! Congratulations! Sharon

Nsv - No More Extender For My Seatbelt!
Rebecca Cain Salpacka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When i bought my car in 07, i was embarrassed that i couldnt fasten the driver seat belt ( i didnt think to try it when i was checking out the car) so i had to buy an extender so i could wear the seat belt...uggh! well about 2 months ago, i tried to use the seatbelt without it, and i could fasten it, i was very excited but..it was very tight and i struggled to get the buckle to snap. This morning as i got in the car to drive my son to school...he asked me to try again..so i did...and it was easy breezy..and comfortable! NO MORE EXTENDER FOR ME!!!!!!! -

Twice, I was out walking this past summer,,I made it about 1/4 mile and it took me about 10 minutes to do that. I ended up in ICU both times due to respiratory distress because of a rare autoimmune disease I have..it sent me into a Myasthenia Gravis crisis. My muscles in my chest wall just couldn't do the work..not to mention the extra weight those muscles had to try and lift. Today,,I walked at 2 mph on my treadmill for a mile!!!!!..no distress, no pain,,just energy and enthusiasm. I just thank God that this is finally happening for me. Steroids put most of the weight on and by golly I'm going to fight to get this weight off and get well!!!
