Just wanted to check in. I'm almost three weeks post op and down 50 lbs from preop diet. I'm doing great, starting to eat more "normal" types of food. I feel great! I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all the support as I began this journey. I was very nervous and hasn't been bad at all. Those last few days before surgery, reading people's stories on this forum got me through. So glad I did this.

Day 10 of my pre-op diet and I am surrounded by chocolate
Mandymoo13 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not going to eat any. I know that. It is still hard, I am still hungry, tired and grumpy. We have had a guest all weekend and I have not fallen off the cart. I had a big plate of broccoli at the restaurant last night. It was kind of funny to see the look on the waitress's face when I asked for broccoli for my dinner. I hope the next 5 days go quick. C'mon April 5th, I am ready for the next step! -
This is a general post in response to the questions about what to cook, or eat once you can have solid foods. I got everything on this plate from Central Market on Westheimer (an HEB grocery store). For those of you nearby - it is a wonderful market and nowhere near your typical food store. "raw food" or "a la carte" combos can be so nice! from 12 o'clock counter clock wise: feta cheese, olives, chick peas, sunflower seeds, heart of palm, honeydew (green) mango ( yellow) cantaloupe (orange), tortouga oil biscuit (think oil crisp cracker) and edamame...mmmmmm! I can't eat this whole plate - a fourth to third. I was going to post an after but I was assisted by the squirrels and birds, so it was gone at the end, lol.

I'm actually from NW Tennessee but only about 60 miles from Paducah so it was a good choice for me. Just wondering how many people on this forum have had surgery in Paducah by Dr. Alex Argotte?

09/10/10...scheduled with Dr. Umbach
SarahMarie123 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all! H/W=255 Current= 250 Surgery Date 09/10/10 I am new to this site..and still anxious and excited! Has anyone felt extremly nervous about complications? Wait...anyone who is having major surgery should be a little concerned right? My past few days have been filled with constant stress and worry...but that it partnered with excitement. I think I want a guarantee that I won't have a leak and spend months in the hospital recovering...but that isn't going to happen in my wildest dreams! I am excited to start my journey. I have always struggled with my weight and have spent the last 6 years trying to lose it...and I am at the point where I feel that it isn't a choice. Does anyone ever feel like we are having surgery to fix something that is possible on our own? However, I do not believe that I on my own will and power could eat 3 ox meals and be satisfied...I also believe that it is not possible for me to spend 1-2 hours a day in the gym working out... So many thoughts...I feel like a head case :biggrin2: Much love. Sarah -
Hi all! I just went for my 10 week appt. I am down 52 pounds! I have had no complications, and I am feeling great. Hope everyone is feeling great and ready to take off some pounds this July!

Hi Everyone, My name is Gina. I just joined this forum last week. I came across it by accident actually. I was researching information on the Sleeve procedure and I bumped into this wonderful forum. I've been hesitant to post anything because I am just learning about the procedure and diets, etc. But, I wanted to introduce myself. I am 33 years old. I just started my 2 week pre-op diet today. I'll be having surgery on 12/20/10. This forum has been a tremendous help on what to expect and how to prepare for this upcoming event! Surprisingly, I'm not really scared, I'm excited, I can't wait to start this journey, although it won't be an easy one. Has anyone ever had the VSG and had a filter inserted for DVT? I have history of blood clots and have been on Coumadin for over a year, but, my surgeon is going to have my Vascular surgeon come in and implant the filter to avoid the blood clots. I'm pretty sure I'll have more questions coming up, but, I just wanted to introduce myself. Gina

Got banded yesterday by Dr Rich DiCicco at Pasco Regional in Dade City, FL. Was ready to leave hospital an hour after I came around, but they kept me till I could take the second round of Antibiotics. I really expected much more pain, did not even get the gas pains I had been warned about. No pain to speak of, just a little tenderness. What a great job this team did for me, thanks so much. Today I had issues trying to drink stuff that might contain calories, so i probably maxed out at 100 calories for the day .. must try do better tomorrow. I did learn (thru this site) that my hiccups were caused by being full. I thought it was thru eating cold popsicles, so I tried to correct the situation by drinking room temperature Water. Did not help. Good luck in your decision - hope it goes as smoothly as mine. THANKS DOC - GREAT JOB THERE> Kevin

Day 10 after surgery and went to te gym!
donaboss posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank god I've been doing soo soo good! I even went back to work on Monday and during lunch I go the mall and walk for an hour. I've been drinking lots of water and I don't have to sip.. I can actually drink a lot. Today I decided to go the gym and I only went on the treadmill for 50min and lost 200 cal. Tomorrow I see my but for the first time after surgery. I hope he lets me starts my second phase since I've been doing so well. If not, I can still wait till Monday ... I am so motivated to lose weight and of course heal... I even motivated my co-worker who is struggling to lose weight to go the gym makes me feel good. -
