  1. So even though the scale isn't going down as fast as I had hoped I can tell a difference in my clothes. I fit into two pair of pants I haven't worn in 2 years and I can put my shirts on straight out of the dryer instead of trying to stretch them out first :). I've still got to get my calories and fluids up though and then hopefully the scale will be a little nicer.

  7. Okay, I did it I am at 249 as of today! I had set a small goal for myself last week that I wanted to be under the 250 mark by the begining of this week, well I DID IT! I have been very hungry lately and felt like I was eating to much, but I guess my body is buring it up at a fast rate still. I will take it either way! May you all be blessed in this day and keep your chins up you are beautiful no matter what goal you achieve!

    Approved!

I didn't even know it was sent to the insurance! As I got an email saying it was approved. It took a day! They want me to do it June 3 but that feels fast. I'm dying! I'm so happy and scared out of my mind!! This is real now. Really really real. I want to vomit.
  18. So, tomorrow is my big day. I have been thinking a great deal about my dysfunctional lifelong relationship with food and struggle with my weight. I am extremely happy about having taken this step, but approach tomorrow with great trepidation, mixed with a significant amount of relief. My surgery will be on an outpatient basis. Today is actually the first day that I am fasting, as my (highly experienced) surgeon does not espouse the two week pre-op fast. I just pray that everything goes well, that there are no complications and that I do not experience excessive nausea or pain. Your encouragement, suggestions and recommendations would be most welcome. I am glad that I have found this forum, which is very helpful to me. Thank you, all.

    Follow Me?

I hope there is not any hoops for you. I am BCBS and had to do 3 mon pcp diet monitor ( they basically had to record my weight for 3 mon) and a few other requirements. After I did all of that my vgs drs office told me BCBS was req a 2 yr weight history, had to be over BMI of 35 for 2 or more yrs. I had to wait a few months. Best thing for you to do is call your insurance company if you want to be sure. I wish I had. Nothing I could have done about the 2yr thing but wouldn't have been planning and looking at certain dates and then SURPRISE. Regardless, whether it's soon or 6 months, time will go fast for you!! Good luck and welcome to the life changing party! Keep us updated so we can rejoice with you!

    Pain in stomach

I'm 9 days post op and am still on liquids as prior to surgery. I can have some egg drop soup, but that's it. My doc is keeping me on the liquids only for another 2 wks. you should probably go back to clear liquids for another week or so. I still have pain/cramping if I drink too fast or take too much in at a time. take it slow.

    6 Month Waiting!

Will do, thank you Mel34, I hope you have a fast response as well!!
  22. I'm about 5 months out and the experience and results have been fantastic, no more CPAP, no more meds, walking without pain, and I don't need to shop in the big mans section anymore. Life is good and getting better. But me and my sleeve are still getting used to one another, I usually feel some restriction and stop, but if I eat too fast or go over the line.......ooooowwwwwwww. I get really really uncomfortable and regret the hell out it for at least a half hour. As awful as I feel, I hope that feeling is permanent because I WILL get it sooner or later and I appreciate and cherish this new friend (tough love I guess). Has anyone else experienced that feeling? Does it last?

    Ohhhh! My aching sleeve

I'm 4 months out tomorrow and I am having something similar. If I eat too fast, don't chew well enough, eat too much or sometimes just because my sleeve is a bit cruel, I will feel really bad. But mine is much longer than 30 minutes and often includes throwing up multiple times. Just happened to me at dinner tonight and took 2 hours before I felt better. I should embrace this as tough love. I'm sure it's helping me.

    New

Im new here. I was banded 9/20. I have spoken a little on some threads and figure its time to introduce myself. Y'all r all so nice here and Im happy to have found this ap. I started at 227 .. Have never been over weight really.. Had ovary cancer 2 yrs ago and had a hysterectomy and stopped smoking. So i had went from 140 to 227 in about 5-6 yrs. I love food period! When i jogged i could eat a lot but once i stopped running i gained fast. I have been depressed the last few days... Wondering what on earth i have done! I can't burp, in sore, weak, feel a little confused or uninterested .. Im glad i have y'all!
  25. I had my pre-op testing today!!! Everything went great!!! GO ME!! Should be all set for surgery for Thursday!! I was told the testing would take 3-4 hours, but it went by really fast and I was only there about 1 1/2 hours. Here's the rundown incase anyone was interested. Arrived at 9:45 Checked in and paid my deductible first off. Then I was sent to the testing area and was seen very quickly by a nurse that weighed me. Down 15 lbs since my pre-op diet!! GOOO MEEE!!! Then she took my blood pressure 128/76. Next she asked all the basic questions...do you drink, do drugs, have you had any previous surgeries....blah..blah..blah. Then I was asked to pee in a cup. Yippee, so far so good!!! Got back to the room and she stuck a long Q-tip up my nostrils to check for MRSA. It made my nose itch, but didn't hurt at all. Next was the not so fun part. She just comes out and says, "Ok, please remove your shirt and lay on the bed." WHAT??? Noone told be about this!!!! Get half naked infront of a sweet innocent Granny!!!?? I was strong.... I sucked it up and removed my shirt!!! (Thinking why wasn't I told about this part. lol) She then started placing little sticky things all over me..10 total. Then she hooked up the EKG machine to those. Let it run for not even a minute and that was it. She removed the sticky stuff and I QUICKLY put my shirt back on!!! Next phase was X-rays. I went back to the main waiting area until they called me back. Only took maybe 10 minutes. Greeted by a skinny little nurse that asked me to remove my shirt AND bra!!!! WHAT?? AGAIN??? AND THIS TIME YOU WANT MORE??? Geezzzz, yet again I was forced to unrobe myself and place a gown on. (She did let me put my shirt back on under the robe, but no bra) I was then told to stand facing the chest x-ray machine and lean forward onto it a bit. Hold breath..click...click...next position. Turn to your left and hold onto this bar (over my head) and hold your breath...click ...click....DONE!! Again I QUICKLY got dressed and went back to the testing area to await the dietician. She went over all the basics, which I already knew and said that was it. I was free to go!! Left at 11:15! That's all there was to it! Nothing big. Now I'm officially ready for surgery on Thursday!! Yippiee!!!
