    Stopped losing weight.

    You could be a late stall starter. Usually we talk about the three week stall but you can have your first one before three weeks or much later than that mark. We’re all different in how our bodies react to the changes we’re putting it through. But you have to remember stalls are a very normal part of this process. They’re just frustrating. Are you keeping to your plan? Are you tracking your food, protein & fluid intake? Are your portion sizes small (about 1/3 cup)? Give your medical team a call if the stall persists or if you have concerns about your plan. Good luck.

    Puree week

    you're probably going through the infamous "three week stall" early. I did as well - mine was weeks 2 and 3. Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days. As long as you stick to the program, the stall will eventually break and you'll be on your way again. They usually last 1-3 weeks. constipation is a common issue for WLS patients. It's due to the high protein diet and some of the supplements some of us take (i.e., calcium and iron - both known to back people up). I've been taking a capful of Miralax every morning for years, and so do a lot of others. Other people take things like stool softeners or magnesium tablets - whatever works!

    Don't have a lot of information about you, it would be helpful if you filled in your profile...hightest weight, surgery day weight, current weight, height...all this gives context to your post and helps us to tailor a response to you. So if I understand correctly its been about four days since you have lost scale weight, but in the 10 days before that you've lost 13lb??? That's great and above average for the stage you are at. There will be weight loss stalls along the way, one of the major ones is the three week stall (though for some this can happen before three weeks and for others well after). Please take the time to fill in your details.

    That's about right. Its a mental thing to see on the scale, but it is fine. It will taper off from going so fast very soon. You'll hit the three week stall, which can last for ages and then it plods its way down from there on in. If you can't get Protein in, at least try and get as much Iron, Vitamin and B12 supplements in as possible. These are incredibly important. Oh, along with your Water, too. As for the protein, have you tried some protein water like Isopure clear? Tastes like donkeys arse, but it will keep your levels up. As for being dizzy? This eases up but you have to maintain your protein and water levels. I'm over 6 months out and if I don't watch it, I can get dizzy when I stand up to fast. Its a constant battle, the water and protein thing. Breathe easy, you're doing okay!

    Two weeks post op!

    I guess I look at my overweight being that I was always more willing to take the easy route and that led me to more weight gain. Even at my thinnest, I was still looking for an easy way to cheat the system. My cheating and falling for the easy way led me to gaining even more weight over the years. I will be honest and tell you, I am also one who chose not to tell many people about my WLS. I chose only a few people I knew would hold me accountable as well as give me positive feedback on choices I make for my new life ahead of me. I have a very encouraging group of honest friends and family that I trust will not share my journey, as for the rest, I will not lie, I will tell them I have decided to make better food choices and exercise more! You are right! There are so many people that will snub their noses at you for the mere fact of thinking of having a WLS, but the way I look at it is "It's not taking the easy way out"! I once read a book with a terrific truth to those who say by having WLS you are just taking the easy route. NO, there is nothing easy about preperation for the surgery, having the surgery, nor life after the surgery. I can say there are times that because we eat less and have been encouraged to exercise more the weight will come off faster but there isn't anything easy about it. The book made a suggestive: When there is negative feedback, or derrogotory comments, remind those by asking; "Do you still go out back and beat your laundry with rocks to wash?" "Do you have still hand wash all your dishes?" "Do you still hang your clothes out to dry?" I am quite positive the answer to at least two of these questions is NO. Well, does that mean they took the easy route out? NO, they found a more efficeint way to wash clothes and dishes so they aren't slaves to chores, they found help. Well, we found a way to help us not be victim to food addiction with a little help! Honestly, I chose to weed out the negative people in my life. I do not like to be involved with people like that! I think they are just envious. What we choose to do with our bodies is our choice, nobody else matters!!! As far as me, I am in my three week stall and I dislike it! I thought I would shed the weight faster, and I did the first two weeks, and then there is this nice hill to climb, "Three Week Stall". I've read much about it and I will do all I can to stay motivated and positive about moving through and climbing up out of the valley! I want to be on the top of the mountain, not in the foothills!! =) Wishing you a fast next few months!! Keep in touch! Christie

    Hypothyroidism and Gastric Bypass

    sounds like the three week stall that almost all of us go through (it isn't always the third week - it can happen any time within the first six weeks or so post-surgery). If you do a search on it on this site, you'll find hundreds - if not thousands - of posts on it. I had mine weeks 2 and 3. Just stick to your program - your weight loss will eventually start up again.

    yep - it's the infamous three-week stall, right on time! It'll last 1-3 weeks. Just stick to your program, stay off the scale if you have to, and rest assured that it will break. This is likely to be your first of several..

    Weight not going down!

    yes - probably 99% of us. If you spend more than a few minutes on this site, you will see that we get this question several times a week. In fact, I just did a search of this site for "the three week stall" for you (it usually happens during week 3, but not always - sometimes it's earlier or later). There are 17,501 posts on this. Just stick to your program, stay off the scale if you have to (it's going to last 1-2 weeks), and your weight loss WILL start up again. I promise!
  11. I broke the three-week stall. I tried to stay positive, but I'll admit, I was concerned. I weighed in a few weeks ago at 230, then 228 (yes, I weigh every day), and it went back up. I was back to 232ish and it stuck there for about a week. That was frustrating. I'll admit that this coincided with me pushing my limits as I tried to introduce more normal foods into my diet. I am happy to report the past three days, the scale has started moving again and I hit 224.8 (HW 284) this morning. I'm happy with where I am so far and feel like I'm heading in the right direction. I am also thankful for the advice on this forum, so when I hit the stall, I was more patient than I otherwise would be, since I knew what to expect.

    it's the infamous three-week stall. Almost all of us experience that. It's called the three-week stall because it USUALLY happens the third week, but not always. Yours is a little early. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale if you need to. And know it'll eventually break and you'll be on your way again.     You are doing great so far. Stalls are very normal, google weight loss surgery three week stall, though yours is four weeks (the three week stall can become four or five week stall). Your body is taking time to adjust to the varous food stages plus the recent 'big' losses. You are doing great, keep doing what you are doing. Some stalls can last a few weeks, some are longer, some stalls are shorter. If yours lasts beyond a few weeks (and assuming you are following your post op guidelines), you may want to check in with your surgeon or dietician.
  14. Michell, Everyone here is right. That three week stall is a bugger!! Just keep doing what you know you have to do: work on getting in your Protein and your Water, walk as much as you can, do a little light weigts for your arms (to avoid the jiggle arms) and don't worry about it. I'm a classic control freak, but I've found that I have to let go of what I can't control here and let my sleeve do it's job. I'm on MFP as well (Lissa912 if you want to friend me) and, at two months and three weeks out, I've lost nearly 60 pounds. I've been floating between 295 and 299 for over a week, but I didn't let it frustrate me because my clothes were getting bigger and bigger. Have you read about NSV's yet? Those are Non scale Victories. Check out that thread in success stories and definitely keep your eyes open for them. It makes letting go of the scale obsession so much easier when you start seeing all the other positive things that happen besides dropping pounds! Good luck on your journey!!

    Also the famous three week stall (not always right at three weeks), glycogen storage (needs lots of Water for the body to store it)… if the scale fluctuations bother you there are a few options… one, just weigh once a week. Do it after your morning bathroom routine so it’s consistent with your daily pattern.. two: if you want to weigh each day take today’s weight and subtract it from your weight seven days prior. This will give you a rolling average of your weekly loss, it’s handy for spotting true stalls / slow downs etc.

    Biggest challenge in your journey

    I had a three week stall around three months out that was brutal to my morale. Just nothing happening no matter how hard I tried to adjust everything. I finally gave up and stopped looking at the scale for a while. Continued to eat 1200 calories, figured whatever happens, happens......eventually the scale started moving again. Has been a nice slow consistent loss since. But yeah...when you're doing every single thing they tell you to do...and lose nothing for a while....that's tough! And it happens to nearly everyone.

    Stall

    No I just came off a three week stall... I tried very hard to bump up protein , vitamins and water. I asked my NUT about this on Tuesday and she recommended increasing things not decreasing (excluding carbs fat sugars etc) Her options for me were more fiber, water exercise, sleep, protein etc. Hope this helps...

    17 Days Post Op... Vsg

    Congratulations, you are doing fantastic! If you haven't already checked them out there are two recent topics in this forum that are really helpful in putting weight loss into perspective; one is "You may be more successful than you think" posted by gamergirl and other has to do with what they call the three week stall. I am 3 weeks out and had that moment today (Thursday has been designated my "official" weekly weigh-in ) where the scale went down by just one pound not the 7, 8 or 9 pounds I have gotten used to. I have found the two referenced topics to really have helped me not have the old "I hate my body" moment I would have had a little over a month ago.

    My doc said figure 10 pounds a month average. 3 a week is GREAT! Many people have the "three week stall" starting around the first 3 weeks, and you can have no weight loss for weeks... this is normal! Try not to compare yourself with others, your body will do what it needs to do in its own sweet time... just follow the rules, Water, move, Protein first and go through the stages.... you will be fine. If it makes you feel bad weighting more often, weigh every month or two weeks. I made a deal with myself that I would not let the numbers push me around emotionally if I weigh every day, and thats what I have always done.

    Stalling

    I also had the three week stall. As well as a couple others along the way so don’t be discouraged if this isn’t the only one. I am almost 8 months out now and while the loss has slowed I am still losing. Just stick to your plan and the weight will just start dropping again.
  22. I am four weeks out. I made my husband hide my scale because it didnt move in four days and I freaked out. I googled and it seems lots of people talk about a three week stall. Did any else experience this? I am going to the gym 5 times a week and trying to get all my protien in. I am just not sure what to do?

And no, I am NOT kidding. just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a few days - and know that it will eventually break and you'll be on your way again. It usually lasts 1-3 weeks.
  25. I know some of you post very helpful information about stalls. And it has really helped me but at the moment I'm feeling somewhat desperate and worried!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After over 30 years of trying to lose weight now that I have had surgery, I am 24 days post surgery and of those 24 days I have only gone down on the scale for six of those days in the beginning. I am so worried that this is not going to work or that I will not lose. I am following everything perfectly. I have read a lot about the three-week stall. My stall started on day 12 and has continued now until day 24. Mostly, when people lose weight they lose mostly in the beginning and then start tapering off. Is this really because of the surgery and how many of you have had such a long stall so early in the process? (I have tried to not get on the scale every day but I just can't keep away from it and it is really worrying having a two-week stall so early in the process. I am almost one months post surgery and have only lost 12 pounds eating tiny amounts of food every day. SORRY to bring up this subject again but for those of us going through it for the first time it is very daunting and depressing!!!
