  1. Some of my family members think I'm losing too much too fast. I've been pretty fortunate in that the weight has steadily come off (except for the traditional 2-3 week stall). Does the loss eventually pretty much stop or plateau? What do you do if it keeps coming off and you can't keep up with your calorie intake? I'm 3 months out, down 42 lbs, (74 since my highest weight). I struggle with sliming, so some days I don't get a good amount of calories. Other days I do fine. Worrying for nothing??
  2. There are a lot of sources that talk about a "3 week stall" that describes a temporary (maybe 1-4 weeks) halt in weight loss right around this time-- don't worry, it's normal! I've read that it's the body reacting and adjusting to the change (and making sure it's not starving). Some people say they have a big drop right after the stall ends and that they have other signs of 'progress' during this time. It might be a good decision to weigh yourself less frequently, like once a week or so, so that you don't agonize too much over the micro-ups/downs. I personally hit this stall for about a week, quickly lost another 7 lbs and then hovered there for another couple of weeks. Keep doing what you are doing, you are totally on the right track!

Please read the link in my sig. You are just going through the 3 week stall. It's perfectly normal. Do not panic. Just keep doing what you're doing. The stall will end soon.

    Not losing weight

I went through that 3 weeks stall as well but it seems I hit another stall. I was sleeved on 11/15/12 I weighed in at 311 and I got down to 288 but it seems that I gain 4lbs then lose those same 4lbs. I asked my doctor about it but he said it happens and I will get passed it but boy is it discouraging.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Has anyone hit the dreaded 3 week stall yet? I have. It’s a HUGE bummer and discouraging but I am trying to remember it’s totally normal. I’ve been stalled for 7 days now and I am 3.5 weeks out.

  8. I haven't experienced that yet, but one of my friends who had this done told me that happened to her. I think it's a thing, like the 3 week stall. Happens to a lot of folks.

Dreaded 3 week stall on Monday which was 3 weeks on the dot it only lasted two days lost 600 grams this morning it's slowing coming off!
  10. 3 weeks out and 25 pounds down...feeling great! Have been very fortunate so far on my recovery...haven't had trouble getting liquids or protein in, and have been virtually pain-free since about 4 days post-op. I would love to be down 30 pounds by week 4 because it would be 20% of my overall goal....but I think today starts the 'dreaded 3-week stall' that I have heard so much about...will see.

    Las Vegas Anyone ?

I am still always tired and I am 4 weeks out and have been nauseous for 4 weeks. I also have pain in my throat and stomach when eating and was told by my regular dr that I haven't given myself time to recoup. I had my surgery on a Wednesday, ended up having to stay overnight, took the rest of that week off, had the weekend off, that Monday was a holiday and I went back to work that Tuesday. But Dr Umbach and everyone in his office is great!!!! I am trying to take some steps backwards and drink more shakes instead of introducing more food because I really don't want to mess this up. I lost 20 lbs the first 2 weeks and nothing since then. But I've seen alot about the dreaded 3 week stall. Mine has turned into a 3 & 4 week stall. I've tried to start working out a bit but was told by my regular dr that it is too soon. Which is confirmed by my weak and sore tummy when I do workout. I walk everyday at work on my breaks. I'm still trying to do some things; work my arms and legs, but I'm trying to take things slower. I have really been pushing myself too much.
  13. I hit that 3 week stalled I've heard about. Any suggestions???
  14. Do check out the Vets forum... many in the same boat working to get to goal or lose those reagained pounds. I never got to goal (close...) and had a22 pound regain... I am almost down to my origional low... using the 5:2 with lots of success and not too hard to follow. Sorry about your regain, please try this before you go under the knife, it might just do the trick! joly, seriously relax, you don't feel that much restriction until you are at solids. Even if you cant feel "full" don't eat till you feel full, eat by measuring and counting calories. You had nerves cut in your stomach, and you may not be able to feel full yet, until you actually heal up... maybe quite a bit later! Just slow down and follow your Docs and Nuts advice. Also, at 2-3 weeks many people go into a LONG stall (the 3 week stall its called) Mine lasted 4 weeks! This is normal! Just hang in there. Things will move soon.
  15. My surgery was February 19 2014 and I have been at a 3 week stall, before that always losing. How do you break a stall?

Hi fellow Diet Coke addict! I’m 2 months out and haven’t had a sip! Which is crazy because I used to think longingly about my beloved Diet Coke. I had a craving for a Diet Coke last week, but I didn’t have it. Plenty of people do drink it post op, but I sorta said “hi craving, I see you and boy do I miss your crispy zing in my mouth, but I’m good”. Will it also be that easy for me to say no? Probably not. But right now it is. The same can’t be said for food. I’ve pretty much had it all at this point, and I’ve enjoyed it, regretted it sometimes, and moved on. I eat something yummy everyday, just not a lot of it. I’m still figuring this out. Sometimes I eat too fast and just have to ride that wave and tell myself “ok remember this for next time and remember how little your stomach is now”. i focused on drinking water those first 10 days. The first 2 days were tough because of nausea. I did a play by play of the first 2 weeks on here called “post op day 2” if you’re curious about how it felt day by day. currently I mostly eat canned chicken with Mayo (like I truly love it, hahahaha), an egg in the morning, tiny sandwiches (see post, comically small sandwich), honey roasted peanuts, and dinner is just a small portion of whatever my husband is eating… sometimes it healthy, sometimes it’s not. I’m not as strict as most people on here, and that’s ok. I’m learning and living. I’m losing about 2 pounds a week now (with stalls here and there, including the 3 week stall). i have incorporated the premier protein latte flavor daily now (3 weeks post op until I was suppose to wait for caffeine). I sorta have just choke it down bit by bit, but I’m ok with it. i took omeprazole the first month as prescribed and haven’t needed it since. I brought a pair of crocs to the hospital to walk about my room, wet wipes, a medicine cup to sip water, 2 bottles of water, pads (because you’ll likely get your period out of nowhere), night time toiletries ( I didn’t shower there, was only there 2 nights), iPad, phone charger (long), ear buds, and pj pants, tank top with built in bra, and sweater (I was ridiculously cold for a month after surgery). good luck!
  17. Hi all. I was sleeved on 4/8. I've always been a drinker getting at least 90 ounces of fluids a day, primarily Water. Fortunately I was able to drink just as much after surgery. I am still getting about 90 ounces a day of water and crystal light. Again, 80% is water. However I am not peeing as much. Probably only 4 times a day as opposed to pre-surgery peeing of 10-12 times a day. I've asked my NUT and she said it's fine as long as my urine is clear and my mouth isn't dry. Why does this happen? Where does all the Fluid go? That brings me to my next question. I'm not losing weight and I wonder if I'm retaining all this fluid somewhere? I'm not swollen in my hands or feet. I lost 22 pounds since surgery but nothing in almost 2 weeks. It's really discouraging since I'm following the diet and also walking about 5 miles per day. I don't understand it. I have a fear that this is it. I've lost 20 pounds and I'm not going to lose any more. I've read posts that there is a "3 week stall" but I've passed that point. I see the doc on Tuesday for my one month post op and will talk to him as well but I wanted some opinions from people who have gone through it.
  18. @@Marlymamamar - You may be panicking a bit. Your profile says you have already lost 90 pounds (assuming mostly prior to pre-op). That is a tremendous weight loss! I am assuming this took you a while and know that this is a marathon not a sprint. And you walked 8 miles at 2 weeks post-op? That is amazing! I am 11 weeks post-op and walked 3 miles yesterday and was quite proud of myself for that. Quite impressive that you would walk for what I am assuming is at least 2 1/2 hours straight. Truly you should relax and be proud of your accomplishments thus far. Now, having said that - if the scale drives you nuts, don't weigh every day and most certainly don't weigh several times a day. Weight doesn't work like that. Weigh in the morning before you eat and take that as your weight for the day. I do remember suddenly being able to drink so much more Fluid and worrying about it and rest assured, everyone confirmed that was normal. You haven't done anything wrong. Your swelling has just reduced making fluids easier. Once you start on soft foods and even more so on dense Protein, you will feel the restriction. Just stick to the program - protein (ESPECIALLY if you are walking 8 miles a day!) and fluids. You may be entering the 3 week stall a little early. (VERY common occurrence.) You are doing great. Be proud of yourself!
  19. APPETITE IS BACK FULL FORCE. I can eat anything. No complications. I lost 65lbs and have been on a 3 week stall. I need to get back on the wagon. My biggest problem is not enough fluids. On a good day maybe 32oz. Also it is so hard to take 30 min to eat a meal. It looks like you are doing well..congrats !

    Before and After Pics

I posted this in the "sixties" forum but wanted to be wedged in between all these young beauties! Everyone looks amazing! I still have a long way to go, but I'm working this sleeve for all its worth. I started at 276 and was sleeved on May 20. Two and a half months later I'm at 225 so I'm 51 lbs down (after an infuriating 3 week stall). I'm 64 and now I don't feel a day over 61. ????
  21. I had my VSG on March 16, 2011. I thought that I was doing well with the weight loss and I've been at a stall for the past week. Its so frustrating. I went from 251 down to 239 and the scale has not moved. I'm currently on the mush diet, getting in my protein shakes and even started back at the gym. I've read through the different threads and I guess I'm just at the "3 week stall".

  22. Is the 2-3 week stall over ?

  23. Guess I hit the dreaded 3 week stall.....UGH!

  24. Hello 3 week stall--you may leave now!
