Fabulous February Post-Op's
ncdeking replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
NSVs I've noticed lately: (1) I now have a lap! (2) I no longer have to avoid booths! (3) I can cross my legs without using my hands! (4) I'm off ALL prescription meds! (5) I enjoy shopping again! I want to plan a girls weekend shopping trip! (6) I fit comfortably into movie theater seats! (7) I'm not always the biggest person in the room! -
So I went to a wedding this Sunday I had this picture taken and I can't believe how skinny my neck looks

NSV...worked like a 20 year old..
rebecca_dsu replied to gmanbat's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great job Gman!! Them yungins can learn a thing or two from you...ha! What a great NSV! -
Great NSV but next time wear proper footwear, please. The risk to your feet when mowing is really large and getting hurt would slow your brilliant progress right down. (Sorry, I work in OHS, couldn't help myself.)

I went to work for my nephew who has a Deck and Dock business here in Tampa, Florida. He needed help packing Water retainers in 2 backyards. The job consisted of a dump truck dropping a huge mound of dirt in the driveway, the dirt being shoveled into heavy wheel barrows and wheeled to the backyard and dumped into the form, and then tamped down with a heavy tamper....all day. I worked 6-7 hours a day, Monday- Wednesday with 2 guys in their 20's in 93 degree humid Florida air. My young fellow workers complained the whole time and took frequent breaks, even took off to McDonalds to "go to the bathroom". Old Gman just kept plodding along only stopping for water and a Peanut Butter sandwich. I told them stories of my long life and had great fun with them. It's been a year and a half since my surgery. I have lost 85 pounds since then, 115 all together. Before the surgery I could barely walk up the stairs. I have been working out for the last year, stepping up the intensity every chance I could. I didn't know if I could do this job, working out is quite different from working all day in blazing hot sunlight and stifling humidity. I stood the test. I am 64.

On Sunday the wife and I leave for 4 nights in Las Vegas. I can't wait to board the plane and get in the seat, there should be lots of room and no need for a seat belt extender. I'm not worried about eating there, as it is now I can't overeat even if I want to, there will be buffets for us. And with less spent on food I think we'll take in an extra show. Who knows I may even get in the pool. SW 304 CW 222

I made it to the 40lb mark today!!! I thought I was never going to see it! The loss between 30 & 40 creeped soooo slowly. I tried keeping my head high by measuring inches. I am down 29 inches since Jan:) I am 22 lbs from my goal so I have got to kick things up a notch at the gym. I am ready to conquer this challenge & live a healthy, happy life. Next NSV....weigh less than my husband, 8 lbs from this goal. I am so glad I chose the lap band....best decision ever:)

How fun! Great NSV!

OMG - I am certain most, if not ALL of us can identify with this. I still hold up my jeans after coming out of the dryer and think "NO WAY, they've shrunk" I'm serious!!! When I was just post op, Victoria's secret had their special, 6 for $25, something like that and I stepped OUT of my comfort zone and onto a limb. I got 6 pair of MEDIUMS!!!! I kept them in the bag, wrapped in the tissue paper and would look at them every so often. I was wearing an XL, the high cut ones, and they fit, they were NOT loose at all. These I got were bikini.....I really did think I was being overly optimistic, but my youngest daughter wore a M and if I never could, she could. I wore the others till they were falling off. I threw them away and went straight from the XL to the M - talk about a NSV!!!!!!! This is not a diet and you HOPE you'll do it, girl, you WILL do it and you WILL be in the size you got...and I'd bet money you will end up in a smaller size than that. Have fun!

Rashaun I have this "magnet" in my body i would drive by Taco Bell - and my car would immediately turn in to the drive in whether i wanted to eat the food or not - of course i always "gave" in and sacrificed myself to yummy tacos as i was losing weight - my "magnet" still drew me to the plus size area in the stores it was mentally hard to realize i didn't need to shop their it was also hard to believe to "push" myself into trying on smaller #'d clothes i always reached for the large size, then a small size always tried the larger size on first now i try the smaller size on - and usually buy that!!!! "maybe" jumping the gun alittle if you are buying clothes 3 months pre-op thats ok though maybe buy ONE special jean/certain size that you will look forward to wearing even if/when you grow out of them - you will feel great that you were successful in getting to that smaller size we alllll love clothes NSV's happy shopping good luck kathy

A year ago I went to Vegas and didn't have such a great experience. I hurt walking, couldn't take the heat, etc. Then I go back exactly one year later, which was 7 months post op, and had the time of my life!!!! I never had to open a door, I was complimented all the time, had an amazing time in the night clubs where I was invited with no cover and free drinks. That would have NEVER happened a year ago. I can't wait to go back!!!! Very grateful for my gastric sleeve and the opportunity to live life to its fullest!!!!

Last night I went to the Oakland A's game, which my family is big fans of and.... I fit in the seats! I just sat down! I didn't even think about it until about the 4th inning and I started to realize that I wasn't nervous about which seat I would be in and would it be wide enough for me. The stadium chair wasn't digging into my thighs and rear. I just fit! Even though we tailgated before hand and I had more fritos than I have had in 6 months, I still fit . Oh, and today is my 6 month bandaversary. Down 65 lbs. Life is good. Love my band and my new life . Have a great day everyone!

If your a1c is too high?
Ms skinniness replied to karpouzian's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Kaiser and in order to have the surgery, they wanted my A1c done to 5.99. Well, it wasn't down but with some diet changes, my A1C did drop some and I had the surgery. It is normal for our blood sugar to spike after the trauma of surgery and that was the first time I've ever had insulin injections. After day 3, no more insulin was needed and my blood sugar was normal. Yayyyyyyyy! That was my first NSV. -
That's a big NSV! Congrats. I have a pair or two of old jeans/pants/capris winking at me, while waiting to be conquered. Good for you!

So tonight I decided it was time to go do some shopping (which I absolutely hate). All of my clothes are getting a bit big and baggy. So I ran into JC Penny's and started walking over to the area where I normally shop. They have rearranged the store a bit and I think I looked a little lost. One of the sales clerks asked if she could help me and she showed me where the womans section was. I started walking in that direction and she told me "I think you are going the wrong way". I said excuse me? and she said "you don't belong in that section". I thanked her and told her I had been working on losing weight and I wasn't sure what size I currently needed and started to walk back over to the womans section. She cut me off and told me "no, I'm not letting you go over there, you need to look in this section over here." I'm sure the look on my face was something like, you are crazy. She told me to shop in this other area and try to prove her wrong. The good news is I couldn't! I was ready to go back and give her a big hug.

Michelle...are you finished with school for the summer? It would be nice to have a time out from it all... Dee...how is CJ doing now? I guess he enjoys the freedom of a summer schedule just as do his siblings! BTW, the Harry Potter part of Universal Orlando has a ride that you need to be small enough to fasten the safety bar in order to ride. The first time we went, I did not even try to see if I would fit. The next time, no worries...another NSV I just realized! DIANE...starting to get worried about you. Please post or text that you and yours are well. Will be back tomorrow. Big hugs all around...

Yay! Keep up the good work. NSVs are the bomb!

So I went to a work luncheon today and sat in a tight corner at the table that 65 lbs. ago, I’d have never been able to fit into. My first reaction when I saw where I was likely headed was oh uh…too tight…sit somewhere else…but then I realized it would probably be OK and it was. I know I’m still overweight and not nearly at goal yet, but these little ‘normalcies’ that so many people take for granted are so uplifting for me and help me to keep my eye on the prize.

lilmely08 being able to wrap a regular towel around you after shower - yep that's a great feeling that NSV made me so happy too!!!! i'm gonna "steal" your thread for a second since we're talking about being in the bathroom.....(towels et al).... NSV from a few weeks ago always went into large handi-capped toilet in stores/malls - large sized changing rooms too now - i use the average size "STALL" and average size changing room too!!!!! its the little things congrats to you and me too!!!!! ok guys, back to our regular scheduled program, already in progress kathy

Heading to Silver Dollar City!
Baker_gurl replied to Baker_gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow!! What a difference losing 113 pounds can make!! This theme park experience was so different from before!! Last time I was publicly humiliated when I couldn't fit in the roller coaster. I was just crushed. This time, I rode every ride possible!! I fit comfortably in every ride we went on and had the time of my life!! I had energy all day long to walk the park. I still want to lose quite a bit more, but I finally feel like I can be free and just live again!! I am overjoyed!!! Oh, and another NSV, I went to a Cardinals baseball store and was actually able to purchase a women's cardinals tank top! I usually have to buy the men's size shirt because the women's just do not fit in that type of official sports shirt. I was very happy to be able to buy a girly Cardinals shirt instead of a baggy men's style! -
How has VSG Affected your Marriage?
notmeanymore replied to GBFree82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My marriage is even stronger now. We had a tight marriage before but instead of my hubby worrying about my health now, we get to concentrate on being more active, celebrating the nsv's, he loves when I put on fashion shows for him with my new clothes and he especially loves all the extra 'bedroom attention' if you get my drift. My hubby had lost 70+ pounds on his own about 8 years ago and has kept it off so he can empathize with my joys of losing the weight and is so happy for me. We are like newlyweds again
