Ladies : Did any of had your period during surgery?
gabysmum replied to gabysmum's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope your surgery when well and you are feeling good! As for the mesh underwear and pad, at least its something. I'm with you about feeling embarrassed! I had 2 kids via csection and believe me, I cringed everytime they wanted to clean me up (tmi) down there...My best wishes for a speedy recovery and a healthy journey! I frequently get hiccups, though they've calmed a bit as I get more used to the band. Sometimes they are very loud and strong hiccups, and sometimes they're tiny. I don't get them with every meal, though if I do get them, I might feel a little stuck...at the same time, I don't hiccup when I'm badly stuck. I almost never burp anymore, and when I do, they're tiny and I have to force it out. I really thought I was the only one because my surgeon's office hasn't heard of any patients having hiccups, and my local "band buddy" doesn't get them. Another (possible TMI) side effect I have is that when I'm stuck, my bowels want to move. The whole band lifestyle is pretty funny when you think about it!

Anyone had issues after surgery with really hard poop? To the point it hurts to poop, like pooping razor blades and then my bottom bleeds afterwards. Bottom only bleeds after a painful bowl movement. 3 weeks post op. Any advice?

Constipated... What else can I do? TMI
mikeross posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have been doing great post sleeve up until the last 2 days. I was having a BM every other day since surgery up until about 5 days ago. It has been 5 days since my last BM and I am getting seriously backed up to the point that its very painful. I have been taking a stool softener, milk of magnesia and today my first suppository. Nothing seems to be working and I seriously feel I might hurt myself if I try and push it out. Any other ideas? Once this passes what should I be doing/easting to prevent this from happening again? I know I need more Fiber in my diet but can anyone give me some examples... I don't want to add to many carbs to my diet so please keep that in mind. thank you -
Good morning you wonderful people! I had my surgery May 7, and I want to know did anyone experience the runs after returning home? I know it's tmi, but I haven't stopped going since I came home! Is anyone else going through this?

I got sleeved last thursday, 3/29. I started my period on saturday night. It's not typical that my 'time of the month' is ever on time, so I was suprised when it came because I wasn't expecting it for a week or two. I do suffer from PSOC (polycystic ovarian syndrome). So I have been in a lot of pain also with the pain of recovering from the surgery. My main concern is the ammount that I'm bleeding & the big clots that I'm having. I usually get lighter by the 3rd day & am done with it on the 4th. But I'm having no such luck. It's just as bad as when it started. Any suggestions why? or any need to call my doctor? Thanks =)

I added some figs and dates as extra fiber and nutrients. One key I have found is a good Probiotic. I firmly believe my "gut health" ensures I'm regular. Making sure I get my water and an occasional stool softener helps when I feel Ike I'm birthing a boulder or two. How's that for TMI? Lol.

My biggest craving now is sweets. Doesn't help that it's Halloween time and it was the time of the month for me last week... Sorry tmi. I couldn't imagine having to do shakes since July! We've got this ladies! It's hard but it will all be worth it.

So I am a little more than 2 weeks post op on pureed food phase and today I just don't feel good. I had my drain removed a week postop and I've been feeling pain on that side. If I sit too long it hurts, and it's uncomfortable. Yesterday I tried pureed chicken again, and my pouch was not happy. I am not throwing up, but just gagging over the toilet while nothing comes out (TMI). I was nauseous again this morning and now a little better. I have been sipping on some crystal light. I just feel right now so horrible. I am overwhelmed with emotions, and with this pain on my side and I feel like it's neverending. Please pass some words of encouragement, thank you.

Thank you everyone!!! What an issue to have...I have had it over the years but lately it is just horrible...even with preventative sprays and creams...I use like athletes foot spray, powders...everything!!!! I just went and bought monistat cream and soothed it then topped it with a medicated corn starch powder...UGH!! I will definitely get it documented...in fact it was in my problems for getting the surgery!! My doc says as my sugars get better that it might help??? I hve been pretty good with my pre-op diet so who knows... I'll have to try the tube sock idea...gosh, I need them under my bra too! TMI LOL... Thanks again!!!

I felt like I may be getting constipated (pod 4 for me) too.... then today I had massive bm... like diarrhea mixed with formed stool... stomach was cramping unbelievably, but afterwards I felt 100% better! tmi probably, but just my experience! As a nurse I've heard your first lg bm after anesthesia usually clears the sluggishness out of your system, but that could just be one of those myths that get passed on and on... Long story short, despite all the warnings to take a stool softener lousy op... it wasn't an issue for me. Would like to know about the anti-diarrheal though....

Day 2 so much pain
SwanGal replied to realtruelady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting this!! I was banded yesterday 12/9 and am in horrible pain. I think it's gas. It hurts really bad, like BADDDD. I can't get away from the pain. Sometimes if I lean to the right a bit I get relief. I am scared to let gas out when I feel it coming because of the lovely loose stools (TMI I KNOW) because of all the liquids only so I get up and go to the bathroom and by then the urge to release gas is gone. It's making me crazyyy! -

Troubled bandster needs advise (may be a little TMI for some readers)
JWhipple posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This probably isn't the right place to look, in fact I have already seen a doctor and plan on seeing a counselor PDQ, but I need to solicit some help and feedback from the many good people I have talked to on this forum. The situation as of current. Thursday of last week, while at home on vacation, I got "the call" from work informing me that I had been laid off after having been there 9 1/2 years. Sunday after that my wife announced that she was moving out. Between the two of these incidents, in addition to some deep depression that I had falled into recently because of the issues that my wife and I have been experiencing, I feel like my whole life is in a downward spiral. Monday I went to the doctor and got prescribed Prozac for the depression - God please let it start working quickly because I can't take how I am feeling much longer! A little background to the issues with my wife. She and I had our 2nd anniversary on 5/12. We were both banded on 12/8/08. Before that she had some personal issues (out of respect for her I won't give any details publicly) that drove her into a depression and ultimately onto anti-depressant medications. After starting to take them she was the woman that I married again and I couldn't be happier! She stopped taking them for a while because they were no longer having any effect, which from what I understand is simply NOT a good idea. She got into some hellacious mood swings and we fought a lot. The problem with the fighting was not because of what she was saying, but rather, what she was not saying. She would not open up to me what she was upset about, regardless whether or not it related to me or something that I had done. I eventually would get it out of her that she was mad at me, but, never got any details of what I had done, not done, or otherwise. Because of the stress of her issue that prompted her to go onto the anti-depressants and a lot of workplace stress, I had to go onto blood pressure medication because I got to the point of having extremely high pulse (160-170 BPM) resting. As a result of these blood pressure meds, I experienced one of the ugly side effects - erectile disfunction and total lack of desire. "Things" would work, but required some work to get them into "drive". She took this personally as if I was no longer attracted to her , which could not be ANY further from the truth - she's the most beautiful woman I have ever know, inside and out, and I love her with all of my heart! This caused some fights as well and got her thinking that I was cheating on her, which could not be further from the truth. We went through some bad months and good months. She ended up going back to the doctor and got the dosage of the anti-depressant increased, which helped out a bit. About 2 months ago we got into a pretty bad fight and then it came out - she had cold-turkey stopped taking the meds again. About a week later she told me that she was sorry for everything that she had been putting me through. This honestly lifted a lot of weight from my shoulders. After a trip up north to see her family, she came back and I felt the weight again. She was upset about something that I did but wouldn't tell me. I took it upon myself to go see the doctor about the erectile disfunction and he gave me a couple of sample packs of Cialis. (NOTE - This stuff works, and works WELL - but ONLY if you actually have some form of ED!) I told my wife about it and we put them to use. She was very satisfied! A few good weeks went by again and we hit another brick wall. We had another huge fight, which I didn't find out what we were even fighting about for a few more weeks, but come Sunday, she announced that she was moving out. Her explanation is she doesn't feel the same way about me that she used to. "It's not you, it's me". "I love you but I am not in love with you." In my heart I can't help but think these are cop-outs, but, I must say that everything in the past she has told me I took at face value and it ended up being just what she said. I can't help but think though that maybe she's seeing someone else, maybe she feels that she can do better than me now that she's lost over 60 pounds, maybe it's the ED issues I'm seeing because of the BP meds. I need some direction here. Do you think it's her lack of taking the medications that has brought us to this? I love her with all of my heart and can't bear the thought of losing her. She has all the divorce papers already filled out but says she just wants to live apart for 6 months so she can have her space and see where it leads her feelings. In my experience, these trial seperations never work - you may as well just skip the trial and go right to the divorce. Any advise is greatly appreciated. There is one other concern, that I'll need to talk to a lawyer about , but I want to see what everyones thoughts are here. Child support.... I have a 11 1/2 year old daughter from a previous marriage that I pay $500 a month support on. With me now being on unemployment, having to keep a roof over my head, having other financial obligations, what happens now if I can't afford to pay this $500 a month? I'll be talking to a lawyer about this but this really has me scared. I've lost my job, lost my wife - the last thing left is my daughter and it scares me to death to face losing her. Thanks so much for reading and any help anyone can provide. All in all I don't feel like much of a man anymore because of all that's going on. -

Thanks every1 for your support. Im doing well. Just gas pains omg. But today is day 4 and im down 12 pounds. Im soo excited. Im not even really hungry. It takes like 30 mins for me to eat a jello. I need to get more calories in though. In my opinion at least. I didn't have a bowel movement until today.(tmi) im sorry! I was getting a lil scared. But I drank a lil apple juice and I think it helped. Im so happy. -
Okay, so I have never had hemorrhoids prior to surgery that were bothersome. I have had 2 children so yes I have them. So now every time I go poop I am in horrible pain because of the hard stool and the hemorrhoids. It took me 7 hours to poop today and I was so sick to my stomach I couldn't work. I felt like I gave birth to my 3rd child. What are people doing for hemorrhoids now that the stool is hard. I was in tears I was in so much pain. I am still bleeding from when I did finally go. I can't sit on a chair without being in pain. Thanks in advance for constructive advice.

Hi everyone! Glad to have found this forum and hoping some of the experienced folks here might be able to help me understand if what I'm experiencing is normal. I'm 8 days post-op (surgery date was 2/26) and it went relatively smoothly except for being held an extra day inpatient because of difficulty swallowing liquids. Starting about day 5-6, I started having a really hard time swallowing again as well as some pretty bad diarrhea (sorry tmi). I've been regularly experiencing nausea and different types of abdominal pain including feeling like I just took a punch to the middle of my abdomen and a stitch-like feeling across my upper abdomen. Because of this I feel like I'm having trouble getting enough calories/hydration in. I can manage 300-400 calories per day and maybe 20 oz of water on a good day. I feel pretty weak and have almost passed out a couple times. It doesn't feel like a texture issue exactly, more like I just can't fit any more in there, if that makes any sense. Anyway, sorry for the long first post. I'm just really at a loss. I tried calling my doctor and they weren't very helpful so I'm hoping to just get a sense of others' experiences. Thank you!! ❤️

And I don't think its all that appropriate for the fitness and exercise forum, so here goes... I do spin class ALOT. Here's the problem. My inner labia are HUGE and become very annoyed by the bike... but NOTHING has ever given me the same exercise high as spin, so I refuse to quit. Any ladies out there spin or bike a lot and have this issue? Any suggestions about how to deal with it? Thanks, and thanks for putting up a little TMI about my anatomy.
