  1. Hey!! everythings going well...going for another fill next week soo ill be weighed again then but I'm pretty confident that i'm doing what i need to. Seems like ur doing well too! congrats! hows everything?

  2. Im so jealous, I have to drink coffee to make myself feel full. You so lucky so do you feel any restriction or does everything go down ok, I'm afraid to do mushies b/c I was told liquids for 2 weeks. Do you have any fluid in your band. I have 1.5cc not sure my band size forgot to ask, I go back on Wednesday for a checkup.

  3. Glad you are doing so well!! I'm sore this morning...I slept setting up last night (scared to lay down flat cause i dont want the gas pain). I'm thinking about what to have for breakfast...i'm on blended foods for 3 weeks :) i'm glad it's "food" and not just liquids from this point. How did you do waking up from surgery? I was hurting and had some nausea...but meds took care of that. Well...off to take another stroll around the house :) We are bandster buddies!!! :) YAY

  4. Hey Jaxmom, glad to hear you are doing so well. I am 12 days post op and down 8 pounds. I gained about 5 after surgery so I lost that and then some.

My post op diet was clear liquids for 2 days, full liquids for another 5 days, Soft foods for 7 then, I am back onto my regular diet. All of these stages are low carb though. Right now I am on soft foods. I can have almost anything except raw vegtables and really tough meats like steaks and stuff. I am starting to feel like I have no resitriction also. My first two soft meals I got stuck but now I can eat without any problems. I am hungry all the time though. My Doc told me this would happen and that I would need to be really strict on myself. Once the swelling goes down you won't have any restriction until your first or second fill. My first fill will be Feb 9th.

9 pounds lost is great. Alot of people gain during the first few weeks after surgery. Really your doing great because the band is not yet doing it's job.

  5. Hi Skippy!

Your surgery is a day after mine! Hows your week on liquids going? I didn't have to do the all liquid diet, but it was a mostly liquid diet and for 2 weeks. I've been so anxious for months for this and now I'm a tad nervous. I suppose thats normal though. I hope everything goes well for you!!!!!!

    -Kate

  6. things are going good with me! i'm glad you're feeling better! i lost 8 lbs in my week so we're right about the same, good for us! lol.

  7. surgery went well! im alot better now than I was last week :) im such a baby when it comes to pain! i weighed myself sunday and lost 7 pounds since monday. soo i quessing thats good ;) how's things going your way??

  8. I am sorta new to bandland. I started my journey in July of 2009. I have Cigna insurance and begin the 6 consective months of wieght management. After4 classes i missed 2 classes in a row, so now I'm starting over with wieght managment, I think. I have my psyc. eval. schedule for next week and I have to have an EDG. My Dr has all ready aggreed that I am the perfect candidate for the surgery. I have hihg blood pressure an a border line diabetic. My MBI is 44 and it has been this for about 6 years now. Is there any one out there with Cigna insurance that can give me some insight on the approval process and rate with Cigna. I have heard that the are one of the harder insurance companies.

  9. Awesome!! Congrats. I just got banded 12/17 then rebanded 12/20. I have lost 23 lbs but have gained about 4 back in the last 2 weeks. I have absolutely no restrictrion right now. I get my first fill on Thursday so hopefully that will help.

    Where are you from?

  10. Like most insurance company requirements here, I needed to be a 'failure' at the 6 month diet (the three seminars I went to all said to lose 5-10 lbs. (but don't gain). I lost about 10 pounds during the 6 mo. diet and was approved within 48 hours. I lost another 9 pounds on my own (I didn't have a pre-op diet) in the 3 weeks between approval and my banding. Best wishes in your research and let me know if I can help with anything! -BG (I'm down 80 lbs. today...best thing I've ever done for me!)

  11. abbypoo, I have not been on for so long! How are you doing? I am down 31 lbs, as of today and I have 8cc of my 14 cc band filled. I am finally in the "green zone"; lsoing weight, eating healthy and getting full and don't think if food all the time because I am satisfied! It took 4 fills before I got to this point and my last fill was about 6 weeks ago. I definitely have a lot more restriciton now and I eat at a much slower pace so as not to have any problems! Getting banded was the best thing I ever di for myself.

  12. I was bnanded on Oct 27. I have lost 10 lb the 1st week. The following weeks I have gained 8 lb back. I don't feel any restriction and hungry all the time. My 1st fill is on Jan 4th. I am very frustrated and especially when most of the posts indicate that there is 10-30 lb weight lost in the 1st 4-6 weeks.

  13. LOL! I think that I have :) I've been walking when they get bad. I think the bouncing helps burp them out like a baby. Maybe its in my head but when I walk I'm burping a lot. So weird. Thanks and good luck this week

  14. We are both great. Janice fractured her foot walking and is in a cast for 2 weeks. Saturday we went to a WLS support group that meets the 3rd Saturday of the month in Alvin. it was the first time we went. They meet at a resturant and eat lunch at 1:30 pm. When we went there were 5 people and Janice and I. The people are really nice. We are going to their Christmas get together on Saturday, December 12 at 1;30 pm in Alvin at one of the ladies home. We would love for you to come with us. We have not set up a date for our little get together. We can make a date after Thanksgiving. Would love for us to meet again and there is one more person who wants to come. The group in Alvin if part of the Texas Bandsters. If you want to come, see if you can work it out. We could meet with Janice and all 3 go together. Last time I picked her up at her house and we rode together. Or we can meet and you can follow us if you want a car to be able to leave when you are ready. Have a happy thanksgiving!!

  15. thats understandable.... Ive not done much the past few weeks just not feeling good and yesterday i ended up with a bad UTI. just found out like a day ago that we will not be here for thanksgiving. So I'm just going to be here cleaning up the house before we go hate coming home to a mess of a house... anyway better let you go sounds like Logan is hungry

It was so nice having her and my Mom there with me.. I may have to post a pic we took together that day and one from this week.. email me if you like. jessap2006@yahoo.com. just put your id from here in there so I notice it :) Have a Great Monday :)

  17. Hey Dee, no chat yet............three days now, was wondering if its just me or the room took a ......Thx

  18. Pablo

hopefully it will help out a lot. I am waiting for my first. I think I will be getting it on Dec 8, which kinda sucks as I am eating like crazy, I am trying hard to watch what I eat, but my brain shuts off way too much. congrats on 2nd fill. Did the 1st give you any restriction at all, even for a week?

  19. Atlanta Medical Center is an excellent hospital. But parts of it are quite old. My sister was born there in 1958 and the original building wasn't new then. The bottom line is you have to be comfortable with everything about your choice in doctor, surgeon, whatever. Emory's bariatric practice has a well-respected practice. I will mention that an acquaintance went there and felt that it was a bit impersonal and ended up going to my surgeon (True Results/Dr. Chris Hart -- who was the founding partner of Emory Bariatrics). The first surgeon's office I contacted may have had a great reputation but his staff acted like they were doing me a favor just to speak to me on the phone. Bottom line, you have to have your own comfort zone. Let me know how it goes! And, what the GI Doc says. Good luck. And if I don't talk to you before next week, have a great Thanksgiving!

  20. Hi. I just read your thread. It sounds to me like you need to have some of the saline taken out of your band. If you feel uncomfortable, and cannot enjoy food, than something is wrong.

I had a really bad weekend last weekend, it started Friday night, i ate a corn tortilla tostada shell, and it got SOOOOOOO stuck, it screwed me up for 3days, everything I ate got stuck. If felt the same way as you.. Like what have I done to myself? I went back to softer foods this week, and I am feeling much better.

Do you mind if I ask? How much have you lost total, to date?

  21. I am really really good. Dr. Baker did my surgery at Baptist Dec. 16th. Dr. Wellborn is doing one of my dearest friends this Friday, I'll be sure to let you know how it goes! The weight loss has slowed but is about a pound a week, I can still eat more than I should but not as much as I did and am anxious for my next fill (2 week)...but I feel great. I'm only about 30 minutes from Little Rock so the travel isn't such a big deal for me. I would encourage you to take a pillow to the hospital with you to hug on for the drive home, it wasn't terrible, but those bumps hurt and the pillow helps! I know you must be going crazy waiting to hear something!!! Good luck, let me know how things are going!

  22. Hey There! How are you feeling? I sure am getting excited! I can't believe its next week! :) ttyl

    ~*SS

  23. So, you getting excited yet? It's coming up here soon. I just got rebanded this last week. Much better! So, we can go through this adventure together. Keep me in the loop on how things go

  24. Hey! Doing great with the workouts- LATELY. I started the Couch to 5K workout. I've kept up with it for the last 4 days in a row. That may not seem like a long time, but for me it IS! My goal is to be able to run a 5K in 8 weeks. I'm so out of shape it's pathetic.

Well I'm glad to hear you are doing well with your workouts as well. Keep it up! BTW.... I started eating solids and so far so good. Honestly, I don't even feel any restriction which worries me. But my self-control is up so I've been able to keep to my diet plan without cheating. But I'm looking forward to fills so I can feel like ever-so-lovely RESTRICTION. Anyway, good luck, and keep me updated! :)

  25. Thats great! Im glad your feeling full. I am getting another fill in 3 weeks. I hope I can make it and actually manage to drop some weight in between time! Anyway..peanuts are the devil! Be careful not to eat too much peanut butter, high in fat, carbs, calories. Although it is a "healthy" food, Its not to good for the "lap band" way of life...
