Nope. I can't burp. I didn't burp for over 3 years . For some bandsters, burping is something we just can't do. One of the reasons I suspected I was leaking in fact was because I not only lost restriction but suddenly could burp again. I have not burped since being rebanded 2 months ago. Honestly, your body adapts and initially it all comes out the other end (sorry TMI) but that settles eventually too. My boyfriend thought I was the most delicate of princesses because I didn't ever burp when we started dating, now he knows I just couldn't!! I really don't miss it.

33.5 Hours Until Surgery
Artsy replied to blondegal1978's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
P.S. the first day I was knocked out most of the time--so the difficult pain is a blur now. TMI: I've had my first little poo today--that was a goal of mine for the weekend.. I know you'll do great. -
@ sleeveisa... that's how I feel like every time liquid goes down it hurts. I was sleeved on dec 5 and at first it was downright pain, now it's still uncomfortable but about a 4/10 pain. I was saying to myself the doc told you that the swelling plus the extremely smal diameter of your new stomach will be uncomfortable so just relax Diana.. it will get better. But I feel every liquid going down and then I feel an ache. With the weight, I have lost 9 lbs since day of surgery( 6 days ago). I feel like I wanna have a BM and nothing happens so I need to call doc to ask about miralax . I am urinating normal again. at first , sorry if this is TMI, my urine was golden and it was very loud ( odor wise).Nurse at hospital said it's because I was dehydrated and the more I'm able to drink , the more diluted my urine will become and so far she didn't lie. It is now straw yellow and there is no smell . But our body is adjusting and I know it's gonna get better for us all. My abdomen is still very sore especially my larger incision. I feel really tired also. Okay, I'm done whining, lol. On the positive side, I am drinking every 15 min 1 oz Fluid, I'm walking daily and remaining positive and no nausea as of yet. We are all gonna work this sleeve out.

So I’m officially one week post op. I haven’t posted until now because I’m just really trying to take it all in and enjoy this very special experience. Here’s a small recap of what I’ve been through thus far. My first seminar was on 6/11/09 I weighed 250. I met with the dietician on 6/20/09 and weighed 245. The day of my surgery is 7/7/09 and I weighed 237. Today I’m one week post op (7/14/09) and I weigh 228. I feel really good about that, and I can’t wait to see more weight melt away. Tuesday 7/7/09 Today is the date of my surgery and I weighed in at weighed in at 237 lbs. I’m really impressed with myself because that means I’ve lost 13 pounds since my first seminar on June 11th. Everyone at the hospital was great. I’m not going to fake it, I was nervous about having this surgery. I kept thinking did I rush this decision, could I truly have done this on my own, isn’t this a drastic measure, etc, etc. I could think of a million other things that I would rather be doing than having surgery, but this surgery was my one opportunity to truly change my life. I knew that then, and I know that now. How wonderfully exciting it is! My surgery was scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and everything started on time. By 1 p.m. I was wheeled into my room, and the rooms were new and very nice. Surprisingly I was not in very much pain. I couldn’t have any water or broth until 6 p.m. so they started having me walk a little after five, before I started the liquids. The first time I got up, I felt very warm and a bit nauseas. So I sat on the chair and waited a while until I took my first journey down the hall with my lovely IV. The gown that I had on was so big and long that my lovely husband went out and bought me a shorter gown and light robe (I don’t know why I didn’t bring one on my own) 6:15 p.m. until midnight that night I took in a total of 6.5 ounces of water/broth. They would allow me 15 ml’s every 15 minutes. I also walked roughly an hour that night (they even showed me a longer path) that way I wouldn’t have to keep turning around. That first day I didn’t nap or anything like they. I remember them waking me up just a little before midnight, at four the next morning, and at eight the next morning. Overall I got some decent sleep. The majority of my time in the hospital was spent seating in the hospital chairs. When I was in the bed I felt like a patient, when I was in the chair I felt like a visitor. I’m such a freak. Wednesday 7/8/09 So today I feel pretty good. I’m not hungry but I am a little thirsty. Again I could only have 15 mls of water/broth per 15 minutes and I ended up consuming roughly 16.5 ounces. Again the pain is under control and I’m just not in nearly as much pain as I anticipated. Thursday 7/9/09 Today is the first day I’m feeling some hunger. I can’t wait until tomorrow when I can have a protein shake. I spoke with my friend who had her Lap Band surgery a little over two years ago. She’s one heck of a mentor and an amazing example of how successful you can be with this Band. She has went from 243 pounds (a size 24) and is now 127 pounds (and a size 2/4). I told her that I am going through a small bout of buyer’s remorse. I know that a protein shake will help suppress my hunger, but I can’t wait until I get some normal food. I’m just excited at the thought of eating cottage cheese, yogurt, roasted veggies, cheese, and chicken, yum. This time I can tell that I’m having true physical hunger, not just head hunger. I walked with my husband and Adrie (our black Lab) around the block. Halfway through it my stomach had a lot of pain. The pain is near the incision where the port its. That’s where all my pain is, nowhere else. Today I’ve had 21 ounces of water and 4 ounces of light Tropicana Orange Juice (super delicious) for a total of 25 fluid ounces. Friday 7/10/09 Today I woke up hungry and I was glad to know that I could have a protein shake, thank goodness. My mom came down to see me today. She said that she was impressed that I was in regular clothes, and not all slouched out in pj’s. J Yes I get up every day I take a shower, put on some make up, and do my hair. I’m not a girly girl, but by doing so that way I feel better which I hope will help the whole process. I went with my mom and hubby to the bookstore. Instead of the “typical” lunch we had unsweetened tea and enjoyed an hour of reading magazines and books. I looked all over for a book on weight loss surgery. There was one book (besides two separate recipe books) called, Before & After: Living & Eating Well after Weight Loss Surgery by Susan Maria Leach. I really liked what she had to say and I could find myself relating to her story. Granted we had two separate weight loss procedures, but we’re both fighting the same battle. Today I had water, 4 ounces of prune juice, green tea, ½ cup of soup, and 1 ½ Bariatric Shakes. That’s a total of 37 ounces for today. Saturday 7/11/09 I woke up early and I decided that I was going to find a couple of garage sales to attend to. I found this one exceptional garage sale and I was in bargain heaven. J I drove by the farmers market, and I told myself that I could stop on over there next week (when I could actually purchase some veggies and fruits for the next stage of my post op diet). I had a total of 43 ounces today, mostly water, 4 ounces of OJ, 8 ounces of a Bariatric Shake, and ¼ cup soup. I feel asleep at 7 p.m. and didn’t wake up until 8 a.m. on Sunday. Now that’s so good sleep! Sunday 7/12/09 Today was the first day where I didn’t much hunger. I love that feeling. I feel so good not having food at the forefront of my mind, I have this new sense of peace and hope in my life. It’s an amazing feeling. My sleep is improving and I’m finally not waking up in the middle of the night. I’ve been having quite a bit of pain today and yesterday with the area around my port. I don’t like taking the liquid pain medicine, because it makes me feel a nauseous and I’m worried that it will make me vomit (and I haven’t done so yet, and I’m a bit scared). I went with my hubby and my little brother to watch Bruno. I had this scheduled for quite some time, but I told them that we would have to wait until Sunday before we could see the movie (I just didn’t think I could sit through a whole movie until then). The movie was totally out of control, but very funny and I laughed the whole time. Going to the movies now is a totally different experience. I didn’t have my diet coke, with popcorn, and sour gummy worms. Nope, this time I had water and I was completely satisfied. Instead of the movie experience being about the food, it was being with my family and just enjoying ourselves, with food not included. What a first. I had 2: 8 ounce protein shakes, 52 ounces of water, 4 ounces of OJ, for a total of 74 ounces of liquids. Monday 7/13/09 So this may be TMI, but I haven’t been having any bowel movements, and I’m thinking that’s why my lower belly is still so swollen. I miss my old bowel movements; I had worked my way into one bowel movement a day. Now they are pretty much non-existent. Is anyone else having any problems with their stomach looking very swollen? I’ve noticed it in my lower stomach, and I’m thinking that its gas related. I wonder when it will go away. Even though I’ve lost 21 pounds, I can still only get one of my pairs of jeans to button. I’d figured that I could wear some old pants that were too tight, but it looks like I’ll have to wait until the swelling goes down. I’m having some strange cravings, grilled cheese (because I’m thoroughly convinced I won’t be able to tolerate bread) and Mexican food, more specifically chips and salsa and corn tortillas. Today I had one protein shake, water, OJ, 4 ounces of prune juice, ½ cup of soup, and one serving of jello. I’ve had a total of 40 ounces of today.

You Know You're A Sleever When...
Izuri replied to Slenderella's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
...You take one bite of something you've been craving and then stop instead of inhaling the rest ...You look for ways to put protein into everything you eat (Molten lava cake with chocolate protein powder =p) ...You want to try on all your clothes every week to see if they suddenly fit ...You feel like you've made the ultimate concoction when you mix two protein filled items into something you can actually get down (A smoothie with yogurt AND protein powder?!) ...You almost pass by the posts labelled TMI and realize you should probably look at it because you're most likely having the same issue ...You can't sleep on your side because it feels like your stomach is hanging and anyone you tell that to looks at you like you just spoke nonsense ...Your stomach is more talkative than you are ...You have suddenly decided you need to name your stomach, despite having it for your whole life =) -
Hey all! So I started my journey back in June of 2015 - slacked a little bit - and am getting back on track as I know this is going to be the only thing to help me. I have done most of my appointments (have my last heart clearance next week) and then I just need my final appointment with my surgeon and all the insurance junk! I have 3 kids (7,3 and 9 months) with little to no support from my hubby when it comes to the surgery. Terrified of what is to come, but excited nonetheless. Anybody interested in an easygoing buddy with a sense of humor that isn't afraid of all the weird TMI stuff that needs to be talked about? Good luck to all

I would call your doctor since 3 weeks is getting pretty long. But I was close to that long without a BM right after surgery. I was never an every day kinda girl. Between having Clear liquids for a week and then full liquids for a week there really wasn't much solid to pass as a BM. I was just at the point of drinking a laxative tea- Smooth Moves I think, when I had one. There still wasn't much there and it was not an issue. (Trying to not get too TMI on everybody) Therefore, if your doctor is one that has you on clear liquids and then full liquids longer than other surgeons it may not be that bad. I think it can also depend on what was normal for you prior to surgery. I still am not an every day person more like every other or every 3 days. I would be more worried for somebody like my husband who is at least once if not twice a day. At this point I would be either looking through the literature your surgeon gave you to see if they addressed it there or call their office to see what you can take.

to those of you post op who had sleep apnea and cpap/bipap machines….. Did your sleep apnea improve? How long/how much weight before it did? Did you stop using your machine/when? i am down about 50 lbs already since my in lab sleep titration test (70+ since my at home sleep study) and I was severe and needing bipap. (tmi but i was having issues with hypoxic morning migraines and sleep paralysis) I hate my machine but like not getting hypoxic at night so I still wear it. Just went to sleep dr and they were not really helpful with the question. said I would need to loose “significant” weight before I would need retesting or come off the machine, kinda discounting my loss so far… said if i had a “miraculous” weight loss over the next few months to call, otherwise they would see me in a year. Just wanted to hear experiences from everyone, but especially high bmi peeps thanks!!

Everyone is different. I had RNY on Jan.28 and I throw up at least 3-5x a day. Surgeon said it was ketones and eventually it will pass. Almost all day I'm nauseous and I dry heave and gag. For me it's not an immediate vomit (tmi) more of a "you feel it coming" and it's only foam and slimy saliva. It sucks because I can't go many places. Threw up earlier today at a high school fair with my son. I wanted to stay but I couldn't and cried all day. I hope you're one of the ones that don't go through this. SD:1/28/13 HW:358 SW:338 CW:297

Oh my just weighed myself today. I have gained 4 pounds can’t seem to get them off I do not know what to do. I am exercising and eating right. My surgery is February 7th. I am so worried that if I don’t lose the weight they will cancel my surgery. Any one ever had surgery cancelled? I am to start my period (sorry TMI) soon and I think that is why I am bloated, but will they understand that? Any advice?

Ladies : Did any of had your period during surgery?
gabysmum replied to gabysmum's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope your surgery when well and you are feeling good! As for the mesh underwear and pad, at least its something. I'm with you about feeling embarrassed! I had 2 kids via csection and believe me, I cringed everytime they wanted to clean me up (tmi) down there...My best wishes for a speedy recovery and a healthy journey! I frequently get hiccups, though they've calmed a bit as I get more used to the band. Sometimes they are very loud and strong hiccups, and sometimes they're tiny. I don't get them with every meal, though if I do get them, I might feel a little stuck...at the same time, I don't hiccup when I'm badly stuck. I almost never burp anymore, and when I do, they're tiny and I have to force it out. I really thought I was the only one because my surgeon's office hasn't heard of any patients having hiccups, and my local "band buddy" doesn't get them. Another (possible TMI) side effect I have is that when I'm stuck, my bowels want to move. The whole band lifestyle is pretty funny when you think about it!

Anyone had issues after surgery with really hard poop? To the point it hurts to poop, like pooping razor blades and then my bottom bleeds afterwards. Bottom only bleeds after a painful bowl movement. 3 weeks post op. Any advice?

Constipated... What else can I do? TMI
mikeross posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I have been doing great post sleeve up until the last 2 days. I was having a BM every other day since surgery up until about 5 days ago. It has been 5 days since my last BM and I am getting seriously backed up to the point that its very painful. I have been taking a stool softener, milk of magnesia and today my first suppository. Nothing seems to be working and I seriously feel I might hurt myself if I try and push it out. Any other ideas? Once this passes what should I be doing/easting to prevent this from happening again? I know I need more Fiber in my diet but can anyone give me some examples... I don't want to add to many carbs to my diet so please keep that in mind. thank you -
Good morning you wonderful people! I had my surgery May 7, and I want to know did anyone experience the runs after returning home? I know it's tmi, but I haven't stopped going since I came home! Is anyone else going through this?

I got sleeved last thursday, 3/29. I started my period on saturday night. It's not typical that my 'time of the month' is ever on time, so I was suprised when it came because I wasn't expecting it for a week or two. I do suffer from PSOC (polycystic ovarian syndrome). So I have been in a lot of pain also with the pain of recovering from the surgery. My main concern is the ammount that I'm bleeding & the big clots that I'm having. I usually get lighter by the 3rd day & am done with it on the 4th. But I'm having no such luck. It's just as bad as when it started. Any suggestions why? or any need to call my doctor? Thanks =)

I added some figs and dates as extra fiber and nutrients. One key I have found is a good Probiotic. I firmly believe my "gut health" ensures I'm regular. Making sure I get my water and an occasional stool softener helps when I feel Ike I'm birthing a boulder or two. How's that for TMI? Lol.

I'm experiencing the same thing. I am not getting all of my Protein in. I have started my Vitamins. I'm using Vitamin Patches. Definitely not TMI! We are having similar issues. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
