    Breast Lift with Implants

I’m in Florida now but I am from Livingston/Jasper/Nacogdoches/Lufkin/Midtown/the Woodlands/KLEIN - Go Bearcats!! I used the Baylor residence program for a lot of cosmetic surgeries/Botox. I had liposuction and breast lift/ implants in 2008. My implants are way too big for me now but at the time they seemed like a logical idea. Looking to get those removed/ revised. I have since had two accidents and now suffer with back pain. Baylor did a great job with my lipo (Of course I gained back all the crap that I had liposucked our and ended up having a sleeve years later). But it’s a great program if you haven’t looked into it yet... I paid like $3400 for boobs and $4000 for the rest - 2 different surgeries. Would have been cheaper but I opted for the overnight hospital package at Methodist. I just wanted to comfort of staying in a hospital bed overnight with 24 hours care. Anyway, just my 2 cents...
  2. I currently have a lapband and seeking a revision to a gastric sleeve. Does anyone have any experience with this? is approval process the same with the 6 month nutrition plan?
  3. is that 6 mos nutritional program usually for revisions too? Im trying to . have revision of my lapband to gastric sleeve too?
  4. SO I am being seen next week for evaluation to revise my 10 year lap band to a gastric sleeve. Does anyone know if Aetna requires even the revisional patients to follow the 6 month nutrition plan requirement? I know i did it the first time jut not sure what is different with the revision.
  5. Thank you so much for your reply. I was on the fence about the revision surgery until I found out the exact results from the 24 pH test I had to do to test how bad the acid is in my stomach and that really solidified my decision. I guess the normal range is less than 14.92 something and mine was 104.9! I couldn't believe it and it has already done some damage to my esophagus. I also have problems sleeping because of the reflux. I'm so happy that you have relief from all of that. I'm excited to hopefully be rid of this reflux soon.

    Sleeve to DS

No, it is not too soon to be considering this. This is one of the considerations that I discussed with out surgeon - the prospect of doing the second half of the DS sometime in the future if needed, and his position is that it is best to do it before too much regain is experienced, as the "switch" part of the DS is more effective at helping to resist regain than it is to aid in the loss. IOW, as one informal rule of thumb that they often discussed in meetings is that the sleeve gets the weight off, while the switch keeps it off. That's not completely true - the switch does have some loss component to it, but call it 80% true. Also, most revisions aren't as effective at losing weight than a virgin procedure (you are already used to having reduced capacity, etc., and have worked around it...) so switching early plays into the strength of the DS. The down side of "catching it early" is that insurance may not cover the second half if one hasn't regained to the standard 35/40 BMI level, and also the psych aspect of actually pulling the lever to revise rather than "I know I can do it without, just one more try..." That's a tough choice, but no, it isn't too early for best results.

    Sleeve to DS

I was sleeved 1/17 I did great. My dr called me a “super acchiever” until my 2 year mark when I had gained 20 lbs back. After his pep talk i gained another 10. Sigh. Now I’m looking at DS and it’s appealing. Especially eliminating the hunger factor. My high weight was 283 lowest 171 current 205. My questions are is it too soon to start thinking about revising and if not would you all do it again. I love my sleeve no complications at all and an easy recovery wondering how recovery is vs the sleeve. Thanks in advance!
  8. I have been going through the process for this because of GERD too. I heard from my surgeon today after having a bunch of tests done to figure out just how bad the acid is and what kind of damage it has done. Basically my only 2 options are to stay on Protonix forever or have the bypass surgery. The medication doesn't work all day for me and I don't really want to be on this medicine long term so I'm leaning towards the revision to bypass but it's still scary. I'm waiting for a call for the surgery department to set up a surgery date. To those of you that have already had the revision surgery, how are you recovering? Did you notice a difference with your acid reflux?

    March Bypass Buddies

You should start a new thread of you want some answers to your question. But basically, most sleeve to GB revisions are due to reflux issues. Sometimes other reasons, too. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    March 12 RNY

Morning . I had my surgery 12 March . I am a band to sleeve revision. Have really don’t have any pain as of now . Can’t wait until I can at least have meal replacement drinks or even a small protein drink lol . Suppose to stay on clear liquids. I bought some of those clear protein drinks .. omg they are nasty!! If you are still on clear like me I found if I put ice the drink and some artificial sweetener in a blender they taste a lot better, not much but tolerable. My walking is good I walk at least 5 times a day .. miss coffee big time de-Caf isn’t same .. other than that I got this !! We’re is everyone from ? I’m in Waco Texas , I am married have 4 kids and 4 grandsons . I am a professional fashion photographer.
  12. Where I'm going, the bypass is more expensive than the sleeve, which I dont mind, I said I'd be fine with either and had my concerns about sleeve revision but also dont want to need to visit my doctor every few months for b12 injections. Ive settled on the sleeve . My BMI is 36, i have no weight related illnesses other than earlty arthritis so my surgeon is confident that I'm a more suitable sleeve candidate. Especially as i quite enjoy exericise classes and am happy to be active when ive been at a lower weights, he's confident that I can do what is needed to maintain any losses and after speaking with him, I'm happy too

    Any regrets with RNY?

I chose the sleeve over bypass 4 years ago. I cannot say that is was wrong choice at that time in my life. I know WLS saved my life. Now, I am getting revised for múltiple reason including never getting to a healthy weight, GERD and a hernia plus my sleeve was never a sleeve. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    I lied

I absolutely agree. There is no right way to have WLS. -- Some have sleeve, some have DS, some have band, some have a sort of bypass. Some follow all rules and never get where they want to be, some are a bit less obsessed and are very successful. Some jump through all hoops, have the waiting period and diet and all and some simply go there and self-pay. Some have revision because they weren't successful the first time and need a second chance. --- However, there is still "telling the truth when asked" and "telling some fairly tale when asked". If you don't want to tell the truth (I can understand that one doesn't want to tell every jerk on the planet though these people don't tend to want to casual talk to me IRL anyway), at least just raise an eyebrow and say nothing at all.
  15. As stated in the other/dupe post, the following doctor is a preeminent bariatric surgeon in the DFW area, and is also one of the few in the US that can handle complex revisions cases. Many people travel from all over the country, Texas, and even internationally, to get surgery with him. He also is very experienced with the Duodenal Switch (2 anastomoses) procedure, which very few surgeons are capable of performing. Depressed, Scared, and Everything In Between

I am happy you only lost a few locs. I got my hair loced in 2014 after being sleeved. Now, looking forward to getting healthier with revision. Life is a journey. I am just happy to be alive and particpating. Sent from my SM-J727T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Disappointed

Is this what your plan allows this early out? Are you a revision or new surgery?
  18. I’ve been hearing a lot about the revision from sleeve? You and I are both at the start weight of 212 did something happen with th sleeve that now you are getting the bypass. I ask because my surgery is April 11th and I’m getting the sleeve.

Anyone get a March date yet?

Hoping all went well with your revision. Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I feel like I could have written this myself! Aside from the being at goal part 🤦‍♀️ but I WAS nearly at one point and would not be considering a revision for weight loss reasons but the GERD that hasn’t let up in the past almost 7 years.... taking the meds this long can’t be good. I get it. There isn’t a whole lot of motivation like there is going into your first surgery. Wishing you lots of luck... keep us updated with what happens. I’m having my revision May 30th.

    Freaking out

You have to do what you think is right for you based on your research. Coming on here is a good place to get information. I had my lapband for 10 years and got it removed in January and wish I would have gotten it out 9 years ago. There is a reason some insurance companies won't pay to have them put in anymore and Allegan who was the biggest maker of them stopped doing so. The lapband requires a lot of post-op follow-up and your bariatric surgeon needs to know a lot about fills and realistic expectations of weight loss. Plus it is inevitable that you will experience a "stuck" episode which is very painful. I am not trying to scare you but am being honest and you asked for words of wisdom. My advice (wisdom) would be not to get it and instead get the sleeve (I didn't do a revision - just got it out). If you read the posts by those who switched from a band to the sleeve they say "this is what I thought the band would do (and didn't)". There are many who are happy with their band, though. But in the end it is your decision and I hope you are discussing your hesitations with your surgeon.
  23. There are always other hospitals. However, you have to keep in mind that foreign materials in the body have their own problems and complications. Getting revision is a hard decision to make. I postponed for about a year before I finally had the courage to get MGB.
  24. I don't understand getting the revision when you're at goal weight. I understand your concerns. My Dr. Does the Linx Procedure for GERD, have you looked into that yet? Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. I can understand all that. Having to have surgery is never fun, having to pay for the surgery is even less fun. Being at goal would make you even more reluctant as you and your sleeve are obviously a great team and you don’t want to mess that up. But ultimately your health is paramount and it does sound as though this surgery is a medical necessity. I am with the others in that I don’t understand why you need to do the liver sharing diet. It sounds as though your surgeons office has a 1 size fits all approach instead of looking properly at each individual. I was overweight when I had my revision from band to bypass and I was only required to stick with clean eating
