    Help! I can't poo

First - STOP LOOKING A THE SCALES - your body is adjusting to a major lifestyle change, if you have to weigh only do so once a week NOT EVERY DAY or you will end up crazy and regretful, which you don't need either of right now. BE PATIENCE, easier said than done, I know, your body will drop those pounds shortly just stay the course and follow Doctors instructions!!!!!!!... Second, water, water, fluids, water and MOM(milk of magnesia) per directions. You can always do an enema if you are feeling that uncomfortable. Please keep us posted on your progress, no such thing as TMI on this site. WE are all Sleeve Sisters or Brothers. Good Luck.
  2. Wife and I had VSG ON 11/24. Yesterday was the 1st urge to used #2. Have been on colace and benefiber since Thur mourning. Yesterday afternoon made it to the bathroom with seconds to spare! Nothing but liquids but still feels like a rock stuck in there. Anyone else go through this? Any suggestions? Sorry if tmi just uncomfortable?
  3. Sorry if this is too much for some, but I have to ask....has your "female" parts changed the way they smell? Since surgery its different for me. I don't know if its because of all the Protein and no veggies or fruits in my diet at the moment or what. If this has happened to you, does it change or get better?
  4. Well, I don't think anything is stuck, I didn't eat that much at all, maybe a bite or two...but right after, I used the restroom and it seemed to be coming right out (TMI) I know it was a burp trying come out..because as soon as I was able to get the burp out I was right as rain. I know I shouldn't have tried to eat anything..but for the most part it was mushy..I didn't eat anything that wouldn't be on my next phase..I just phased up before my time I guess. the paperwork Dr. gave to me said progress to the next phase when you think you are ready...so that's what I did. I am back on Protein drinks and feel perfectly fine...again..not getting in the Water I should...I knew that would be my challenge since pre-op I was never a Fluid drinker...I had to force fluids down...But now I am aware of my challenge time to get off the soap box and just do it!!

    2/6/2012 Sleevers Check In!

This is totally TMI- but who needs a liquid preop diet when you can just come down with a horrible case of the stomach flu??? I weigh 9lbs less today than I did at this exact same time yesterday. Just trying to get Water to stay in is hard work! It's making not cheating exceptionally easy!! Who knew I'd actually appreciate being sick??

Female Facial Hair - IS THIS EVER GOING TO END? :(

I tried Spironolactone, but because my blood pressure was always really good I couldn't get the dose high enough to be effective for hair growth without dropping my BP waaaay too low. Metformin never helped, just gave me (TMI warning) terrible diarrhea.

    I Band

Omg my mense started two weeks before surgery and since surgery still going strong it is bad yesterday I chged cloths four times!! Sorry I know Tmi but I'm glad I'm going to Dr tomorrow for my post op appointment
  9. So I am 11 weeks out and down about 32 pounds since surgery. I know we shouldn't compare, but that seems really slow compared to some of the numbers that I've seen on here. I acknowledge that I need to get going on my exercise ( plan on doing 30 day shred today). I am eating about 800 calories per day and 60-80g Protein and around 60 carbs ( I know some people really reduce carbs but my Nut wants us to have some whole grains). I haven't lost anything in about 10 days and I feel like I've been stalled more than I've been losing. I am just really frustrated. Also, I feel like all of my weight loss has come from my boobs. So they're getting smaller while my gut still looks like I have a 30 week fetus in there. Also, this may be TMi, but my periods have been lasting two weeks or more, which is especially odd since I have a Mirena. I wonder if this is affecting my weight loss. Does anyone have any insight to share. HW: 276 Day of Surgery (11/25): 253 CW: 221 GW: 130
  10. I did an enema a few days ago and a little came out but that's it TMI!

    I have a problem

OK everyone I think I need some advice. I was banded on the 7th October (nearly 5 weeks ago)I did reduce the liquid and the mushie stages and have been eating normal foods without a problem. I have been able to eat everything (bread, rice, Pasta etc) without any PB'ing. I actually think I had been eating to much food. Anyway I went and had a fill on the 29th October (3 weeks post surgery) and was giving 1ml. Aparantly my band only holds 6ml. Once again everything was fine and I could eat everything and was beginning to think that I needed more fill. That was until today! Today I had a sausage in bread and 1/2 way through it I knew it was stuck. After many walks, lots of saliva and a few PB's I still didn't manage to get rid of it. The uncomfortable feeling lasted 4 hours. It started getting so bad that I would make myself PB however I think at one point it was more than a PB and a real vomit (sorry for TMI). At one point I thought I had it cleared so tried to eat a potato chip or two and that would come up as well. After a while I was feeling ok and at my friends having dinner and I had two small bites of lasagna and that also came up. My friend was then a little concerned and she gave her brother a call who is a Dr and also assists in lap band surgeries weekly so he would no what he was talking about. He wanted to make sure that I was able to keep liquids down and told my BF to give me something like a milkshake (as it is a bit thicker) anyway not all of this stayed down either. He then said that if I wasn't able to keep a piece of toast down for Breakfast tomorrow then I should ring my surgeon which I will do. I am just confused because my fill was nearly 2 weeks ago and I am only feeling this now. Not good when I have only 1ml in although I have met a woman who was banded 12 months ago and has lost 30kg and has no fill in. Maybe 1ml is to much for me. Has anyone else experienced anything like this before? Its been a sh*t day but the scales made me feel a little better with 1.2kg down since breakfast. lol

    Hello Jelly Roll!?!

I've been doing floor exercises, which has helped alot, lots of stuff on utube. Yeah when I notice sweating undies (TMI) I started exercising that area asap! good luck
  13. You're right it isn't easy with the band. Because we are a society that celebrates and or commiserates with food, being unable to eat more than a bite or two when restriction is high is disappointing. Restriction is high for me when I'm up too late, up too early, sick, stressed, or excited. Celebration preparation usually increases stress and excitement...go figure. I lost a few pounds over the christmas season last year though, instead of gaining. I go up and down the weight scale with in 3-4 pounds until I'm down another, then up, then down another. I am after a year losing very slowly now, but still slowly losing. I can generally eat most band friendly foods. I just have to take it slow, and have a little at a time so, over time I get enough. I am down from a size 24 to some damned cute size 14's that I can buy anywhere. My underwear are no longer support panties, but low rise bikini's. TMI? I would absolutely do this again. Heaven forbid I should end up with complications down the road, but even with... after healing... I'll do it again. I thank god daily for giving me this chance to live life feeling great again.
  14. Hello, Before I begin if you are male you can exit the post. Soooooo ladies I was sleeved 12/16 I began taking low birth control about a month before. Periods have been pretty normal until this month. I've literally been on my cycle for about a month now and my OBGYN doesn't seem concerned saying it's the birth control regulating......what from 5 months ago?!?!? So my aunt brought up that it could be the surgery so has anyone experienced anything like this before???? I'm just a little nervous because I've never experienced this before? [emoji28] sorry this is tmi but someone give me some online insight.... I've been to the Dr already Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Hi, athykay!! I'm sorry for all your health issues. I too have been suffering from bronchitis, but I never assumed that it could be band-related. I don't think it is--my respiratory system can get messed up all by its lonesome when I pick up bugs from my kids. With my recent bout I had several episodes of coughing that were bad enough to make me vomit (TMI, sorry) but nothing has happened that makes me think my band is anything but fine. Coughing up blood is not the same thing as vomiting up blood--sounds to me like your lungs are what's irritated, not your stomach. Bronchitis is not likely to be band-related, I wouldn't think. Why would you? And vertigo? Dizziness? Dehydration perhaps, but only in the sense that you're not drinking enough. I'm just saying that it's totally possible to be sick without it being related to the band. Everyone always jumps to the conclusion that every little ache and twinge is due to the band, but it's just not necessarily the case. An endoscopy is only indicated if you're having BAND-related symptoms, such as an inability to eat, constant or unmanageable reflux, or other stomach issues.
  16. ***TMI*** I guess Ive not been drinking enough fluids to go with my high protein shakes cause Mama has been Backed up!! I normally have a regular like clockwork body. Get up, have coffee....then go. But the past 3 days, it's been little to none. By the time I thought it was becoming an issue, it WAS an issue! I started getting concerned since my surgery is like TOMORROW! I was straining like I was going to give birth again in time for Mothers Day today. So I placed a desperate call to daughter who picked me up some Dulcolax, some Glycerine Suppostories, and Smooth Move Tea. The tea did nothing but make me have the urge, the Suppository just made it feel worse, and the Dulcolax just hadn't had time to work. I Drank water yesterday until my pee was almost clear!! Finally took a second Dulcolax last night and forced down some Metamucil. Yuck! Had a small tiny bit of relief right before bed but was mindful of my plight with every toss and turn as I slept. This morning...coffee...and I Gave Birth....(I swear I didn't push that hard when I had either of my 3 daughters!!! Alas, I feel I have Triplets so the deed is not done. My Surgey is Tomorrow so I hope I get things "Moving Along" in a normal fashion today.

    Two Weeks Out!

I am feeling great!! Here are the stats: Highest: 298 Pre-op 277 Surgery: 261 (I did 4 weeks pre-op voluntarily) Home: 271 (Fluid I guess?) Today: 252 25 since the start of my pre-op! 46 over all from my highest! WHOOP WHOOP! I can’t believe I am a scant 3 lbs away from my 240s… which I haven’t seen since 2005!! Then when I reach 230-235, I am going to try on my wedding dress from my second wedding – I am greedily hoping that day will be June 19 – the same day I take my Motorcycle drivers test. Two victories in one day will be quite fitting I think! 17 lbs in 26 days? It’s possible… but the journey is amazing. My clothes are fitting better, I see a difference in my face and I can feel the difference in my tummy – and my incisions are ITCHY!!! (Which means they are healing nicely!) The first week of clear liquids got to me a little bit… I was missing the comfort feeling of food, although I must say I wasn’t feeling hungry in the traditional sense. I have read that quite a few people have had trouble getting their protein in, so I am glad that I tried a few products before surgery, because the one I have, Alpine Punch by Isopure, is super easy to get in and digest. It mixes just like Crystal Light, and the consistency is nice and thin. I also opted for G2 Gatorade over the last two weeks instead of water, to ensure my electrolytes stay exactly where they need to be. I have been taking a chewable multivitamin, B12 and Caltrate every day 2x, along with finishing my prescriptions. I am down to one left (my acid blocker), twice a day for 45 more days… so that will just be daily routine with vitamins for some time to come. Needless to say by the time day 8 came, I could not wait to eat some low fat cottage cheese and thicker soups!! I made two recipes that are absolutely delicious!! Celery Root soup, and Curried Sweet Potato. On their own they do not offer much in the way of protein but they have proven to be great low cal, healthy tummy trainers and have helped me experiment with how fast or slow and how much to eat. I’ll post the recipes below. I have also had a zero fat yogurt here and there, and decaf coffee with cream from Tim Hortons. That’s pretty exciting stuff, although I have noticed that the added fat in the cream tends to travel at the speed of light (sorry TMI) however, at this point I am using that as a tool! Monday starts the mushy foods “Things I could eat if I had no teeth” phase and I am pretty darn excited about that! Mmmmm…. Baked fish, Scrambled eggs, hummus! I can’t wait!! I don’t think there is much more to say at this point. Doing really well, feeling great. Oh, and last week I contacted my surgeon; Dr. Rodriguez via email because I had a question and he responded within 30 minutes. I will never be able to express how amazing he and his surgical team are. Highly recommended!! Celery Root Soup Ingredients: Small Chopped Onion 1 tbsp of butter / margarine 4 cups of chicken broth (low sodium is best) 2 tsp of thyme 1 large celery root Preparation: Peel and chop celery root into small cubes, set aside Place onion and butter over medium heat in a pot and simmer until onion is soft Pour chicken broth into pot with onions/butter and add in chopped up celery root (there should be enough broth to cover all vegetable) Add thyme Add broth and bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until celery root is tender. With immersion blender or in blender, puree soup. Curried Sweet Potato Soup Ingredients 2 sweet potatoes (2-1/4 lb) 1 tbsp vegetable oil 1 small onion, finely chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tbsp minced gingerroot, (or 1 tsp/5 mL ground ginger) 2 tsp mild curry paste (or curry powder with a touch of water to make a paste) 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth Preparation Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1/2-inch (1 cm) cubes; set aside. In large saucepan, heat oil over medium heat; cook onion, garlic, gingerroot and curry paste, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes or until softened. Add sweet potatoes; stir for 1 minute or until coated. Add broth and bring to boil; reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender. With immersion blender or in blender, puree soup. CHEERS!
  18. "I do have an issue if the fetus has any chance of life outside the womb to be disposed of. Who are we to play God and say a baby only has a 1 in 4 chance to survive, so they don't get the chance." I agree. However, the difference between us, is I am pro-choice. I have stated in another thread, though, that once the fetus is biologically capable of living outside the womb, the choice is now taken from the mother, except in cases of danger to the mother. I consider conception as the "potential for life" not as life itself. If not, then I am a murderer, as my wife and I had multiple embryos created for IVF, and not all of those were allowed to grow. Of course, not all of the embryos that were implanted grew either, so I guess they weren't part of the "plan" either...oops gone into TMI land again. :frown: Met another mother who had two embryos implanted, and both split, and she had two sets of identical twins...talk about getting your money's worth!!

Not for the squeamish or shy...

Well I have added a little fiber to my diet, but not much. I'm still not going potty (3 times since surgery). I live in a small town with no walmart and haven't been in a while. Been meaning to get me some benifiber. I do have a family dollar but they don't sell anything but laxatives. I have never had to use them before, but I have heard that alot of people use them to lose weight, so I said what the hey. Well I took one last night before bed, and woke up about six-thirty cramping. I was sweating and cramping and cramping and sweating, farting, sweating and more cramping. I thought I was going to pass out. Then finally I did the deed. First in solid form then came the hershy squirts. Way TMI!!! I don't think I'll be taking laxatives ever again!!! Gentle my #**. On a possitive note, I lost 1.8lbs LOL

    Dumping?

Hey guys. How do you know if you are dumping? I haven't had any other symptoms aside from (please excuse, TMI) diarrhea. Have had it today only and only two times. Is this dumping? Havent had hot flashes or nausea or racing heart. Wondering if this is just from something I ate or if I ate too much of something if that makes sense.

    Constipation

I had been having issues with things moving like they should! With all the protein I was locked up tighter than Fort Knox! Mom was a health food nut and told me about psyllium awhile ago, I now take magnesium pills twice a day as well as taking several psyllium capsules a day. The combination of the two keeps me "regular" without having to worry about a complete blow out. (sorry if that is TMI) One great thing about the psyllium is that it also absorbs grease and cholesterol so it is serving a dual purpose!

    Sleevers 15th-20th

My surgery went well the 15th. Took a little longer just because they were doing a few other things while in there. But I must say it was rougher than I thought. I literally heaved. Dry heaved all afternoon and night. And that was very painful. Nothing helped. Didn't stop feeling sick until Wed afternoon. so didn't get to come home until late thursday. No pain per say. tender but tolerable. so I honestly ahve not taken any pain meds. Mine as been more belly bublling around feelings, occassional bubbly pain up under my breast bone. And I know may be TMI but nothing but ' peeing " out my hiney. That is real old. Only on liquids and Protein shakes until I see doc Fri. Having a hard time getting all fluids in. Because I am afraid o doing to much at a time. Weight wise. I started at 278. Pre op 265.8. A of this morning 257.4. Hard way to lose weight. LOL I did have the gas pains on my left neck shoulder area. They didn't completely go away until Thursday. Blowing blood out my left notril from the NG tube during surgery. guess they were a little rough there. Looking for advice on what first mush food to try first when I can.
  24. I know this will be one of those posts that ppl will be thinking TMI, but I don't know where else to go to. So here it is..I was banded 7/13 tues and I haven't gone to the bathroom yet. It's been 5 days, is this normal? Any suggestions on if I should take a stool softner or just wait it out a few more days. Also off the subject of that Im starting to feel better and my hunger seems to be increasing..is it normal to feel hungry all the time? my doc has me on a full liquid diet so just cream of wheat, oatmeal, cottege cheese, pudding, yogurt, CIB's all that good stuff but the diet guidelines he has his patients follow is saying only have 1/2 cup cream of wheat, 4oz of yogurt ect. I dont have restriction yet, but it just doesnt seem to be enough. It's not just head hunger either, I wait it out, drink some fluids for a while see if the hunger pains go away and they're still there? any suggestions for this? I don't want to be eating more than he wants me to bc I don't want my stomach to stretch. thanks for the help!

    Can't burp!

Nope. I can't burp. I didn't burp for over 3 years . For some bandsters, burping is something we just can't do. One of the reasons I suspected I was leaking in fact was because I not only lost restriction but suddenly could burp again. I have not burped since being rebanded 2 months ago. Honestly, your body adapts and initially it all comes out the other end (sorry TMI) but that settles eventually too. My boyfriend thought I was the most delicate of princesses because I didn't ever burp when we started dating, now he knows I just couldn't!! I really don't miss it.
