  1. These NSV's just keep coming ! ! ! I put on a pair of sweats that I had washed, and put away in the Dresser. They are a XL in size. I put them on today, and they were falling off ! ! ! I was going to the Gym, so I said NO ! It can't be.... I need them for today until I come back and do the Laundry. Then I thought WHAT ! What are you thinking "YES!" That means you now fit in a Large in sweats, My husband looked at me and said wow! you are shrinking ! He saw how they just hung on me, so did the top. So I said I'll pick some up somewhere, but at this rate, I'm not buying all new, These are about 6 weeks old, and they were a snug fit. Not Anymore! So now I'll be trying a LARGE. That's a size I haven't been into since I was in my Teens. I had a unfill, so I thought I don't want to gain weight. I guess I was wrong.. You look in the Mirror, and you just see you ! I had no idea at all that I dropped a size in sweats . This band is Great ! If you have patience, and don't worry about the scale so much. Just work out and watch your cloths sizes shrink... This works ! That's how it works for me.... Shirley.
  2. Yes we all are about due. You are doing a good job. I have lost 104 lbs also, I have 40 more to go. But the scale is moving very slow. I think I need a fill. The last time I went in Sept. for my year check up. He told me to wait another 3 months, they didn't want to overfill me then I am running back to have it taken out. I feel some days I am struggling not to overeat. But all in all it is going very good. Keep up the good work and I love NSV's everyday I have a new one.
  3. Lissa, I'm so happy for you! What a great NSV!!!

    Drastic weight fluctuation?

Fantastic. Some folk here talk about “non-scale-victories” -NSVs - I reckon this is the best sign things are going well! Congrats.
  6. I'm at my surgeon's for my 2 month follow up after surgery. They were checking my blood pressure which was great 119/78 and they used the small cuff on my arm. They didn't have to get the bid jumbo arm cuff out. Not even the medium one. They took out the little one. Wow!! I'm so excited.

    Yikes! It's finally here!

So far, so good! I am really surprised that I am not hungry! And even though I am not banded yet, I had the best NSV on Monday. I had an extremely stressful day and that is when I usually turn to food, but I didn't!!! I was so proud of myself! Take care and keep updating!

  10. I was sleeved on Feb 4th , 2012. I decided to take my measurements on Feb 12th, when I got home and was feeling better. Well I took them yesterday, Mar 12, one month later and although I did not lose as much weight as I thought I would considering my pre op diet lose, I was amazed by the inches I lost. I lost a total of 14 inches this month. 5 inches in my waist alone. Some of you had impressed on me the inportance of NSV's ,now I totally understand why!!!! I feel great!!!!!

    First NSV!

Very very cool! I have to say I had a simlar experience last week. I was in a rush and grabbed a pair of slacks for work that have been tight on me and I had stopped wearing them. Well they were loose and I was needing a belt for them!! It is a great feeling and your right NSV!

    Liberating NSV

Wow, I have something to share! Yesterday, I picked up my mom from the airport (she's in town for the weekend) and she wanted to go out for lunch. Err.. I haven't been out to eat since I started the pre-op diet. I was a nervous wreck. I knew I wasn't going to eat anything I shouldn't but my fear was that smelling and seeing all those foods I used to be addicted to would bring back the cravings. Being a people watcher (my all time favorite hobby), I knew I wasn't going to be able to avoid seeing people enjoying what I couldn't have. Eating out used to be my way of life. Well, we walked into Red Robin and there they were.. all these people feeding on huge burgers. I watched in amazement as they somehow unhinged their jaws to fit their gaping mouths around these monstrous globs of food… Their cheeks bulging as they smiled and chewed with mayonnaise covered lips. Every plate of food I saw delivered to the tables seemed heaping with enough to feed 3 people. What I expected to trigger longing and cravings actually was excellent therapy - for me. I ordered iced tea with lemon and a cup of chili - no cheese, no onions, and no crackers. Mom ordered a bowl of chili. The server looked at us like we were nuts.. “That’s –all- you want?” *laughs* When the food arrived it was served with a large round soup spoon, I requested a regular spoon. Mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our chili, and we sat in Red Robin for 3 1/2 hours drinking tea and enjoying a wonderful visit. As I walked out, I felt an enormous victory in my life and I remembered so many of you saying "Make your dining out time about the people you are with, not about the food." I smiled and walked out feeling so good, rather than being disgusted with myself and feeling so uncomfortably gorged. What a huge victory in my life!

    Couple of successes

I think the hardest part when I was on the way up was when I quit wearing skirts and tried to make pantsuits look good (which they can but they weren't me). Now as you said the first time I crossed my legs..oh did I look up and say Oh thank you God!! and now it is skorts galore!! These are called NSV (non scale victories) so keep them coming!!!

    Gratitude?

I just say Thanks! We all work hard to be able to hear that. We need to embrace it whole heartedly because each and everyone of us deserve to hear those wonderful accomplishments. These are one of the best NSV's you will ever have. Each time you say Thanks! you radiate confidence and that.........IS SEXY! So stand up be proud and accept whatever compliment they want to throw your way. Oh and the best is when they don't know you've had the surgery so they aren't looking to see if you've change. Live it up!

    Nsv

I have been overweight since 4th grade. I always hated getting ready or dressed up because I hated the mirror. I was married 12 years ago (I was 18) and at that point I was getting dressed in jeans and at shirt, little make up and pulled my hair up. It only got worse 2 years later after I had my first child. As each kid came along I gave up something more with the first, it was make up. The second was jeans (went straight for sweats and elastic pants) and by the time the last one was here I was showering every other day and really not taking care if myself. I was never "dirty"or unkempt, I would just have a baby wipe rubdown and call it a day. On to the good news. I am 2.5 months out, down 53lbs. Gone from a size 28 to a 20 and you know, I get up, shower, I cut my hair, put makeup on and generally take care of myself. My whole adult life I avoided myself. I find I can actually look at myself in the mirror and point out one or two things I don't "hate". I know I am a long way from being considered beautiful (lucky for me my hubby thinks I am always beautiful) but I care now. And that is something I haven't been able to say for 12 years! Those that are pre op, keep up the hard work, it's worth it. Those that are sleeved, we should take a minute to reflect on what we have gained, maybe even write it down to pull out on those "bad" days :-)

    Muscle Loss Sucks

I am scheduled for surgery on December 11th. My surgeon does not allow lifting for a full three months due to the risk of hernia. Once I get the clearance, I intend to be in there hitting the weights pretty quickly. I do not want to become "skinny-fat." I know that I have a good amount of muscle under all this blubber, so it will actually be nice to see results and growth. I was always able to feel the improvements and increased strength, but never able to see it. That will be an "NSV" for me!

    My Mini NSV

    I don't think that's a 'mini' NSV at all
