1. Congrats! Seeing my knuckles for the first time in 15 years was a big deal for me as well. Other NSVs - seeing my collarbones and being able to wrap my fingers around my wrist for the first time!
  2. Congrats on your NSVS! Those feel just as good as seeing the scale move down. So happy for you!
  3. Congrats! I TOTALLY understand this NSV and you're not a dork for being excited about this. I am watching for mine... any ... day.... now...! Seriously, I've never ever had knuckles and I'm 41 years old! I'm quite small boned and I have "baby hands" When I make a fist they look like balloons!

    NSV's Spring 2019 Edition

An NSV from the odd files... since I've gotten home from the hospital, I sleep through the night without having to get up to use the bathroom. This is astonishing to me, as I've always gotten up at least once to pee every night for as long as I can remember. I'm getting all my fluids and more, so I can't attribute it to dehydration. I'm wondering if it's connected to the fact that my blood sugars are super level, and I'm no longer on my diabetes meds. Sent from my SM-G960W using BariatricPal mobile app

    Working out

Yesterday I did 20 min of cardio (10 bike, 10 elliptical) and all the weight machines. The girl at the gym "pushed" me, so I got a great workout. Tonight, I did 40 min of cardio (10 bike, 20 elliptical, 10 treadmill at an incline). Still eating very healthy and small amounts. I've been seeing a bunch of people I know at the gym, so that's been cool. Mostly work people. I'm going again tomorrow and I want to do Zumba again on Sunday. NSV: I wore a green suit that I haven't been able to wear in a long time and got tons of compliments at work!

    Nsv Moment With The Hubby

Well, another weekend has come and gone and I am back to work this AM. Had a successful weekend with very few slip ups. I had a NSV moment this weekend..We had some dead spots in our yard so we had dug them up and were re-sodding..well, I was carrying the 40 pound bags of new dirt and throwing the squares of sod while my husband "watched". I asked if he was going to help - he laughed and told me that I was in better shape than he was, so he would just "let me" get my exercise in for the day..Hehe, As tired as I was - not to mention dirty - I kept on with the bags and the sod until the job was done. I acutally amazed myself in the fact that I was not short of breath and did not really get overly tired and no soreness. Now, you to have to know I live in Florida and it was 97 degrees and humid - Hot my friends..A year and 100 pounds ago - none of this would have been remotely possible. But I guess I am in pretty good shape to have done this job. As I sit and look at my tiny plate, with my tiny amount of food (all the time really wanting a pizza followed by some ice cream) I reflect back on this weekend and realize that I have come a long way. I am not only smaller, I am healthier and stronger than I was one year ago. Yep, I still have about 40 pounds more to go (the weight of one bag of dirt - which I thought was HEAVY) so I trudge on..Moving foward, not wanting to go back to the old fat me. I am thankful for the surgery and my weight loss...even if I never reach my goal weight - hey, there is still 100 pounds less of me today and that in itself is a "GOLD MEDAL" performance - if I do say so myself. So, next time you feel down, feeling left out or short changed - go find an old picture of yourself (a fat one) and think back at just how "wonderful life was" when you were heavier - huffing and puffing your way through life, with sore knees, bad ankles and who knows what going on in your insides. Hang in there bandster peeps - we are in this boat together and we will succeed one way or the other. This Saturday I am doing my 5th 5K - this one is up and down the ramps of the Jaguars (NFL) football stadium. It is called the "Stadium Challenge" and it is a tough one. I did it last year and I am crazy enough to do it again. Been working hard on my training. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I make it through such a demanding 5K. Maybe that dirt and sod "training" will come in handy.....I bet my husband will take credit for that one ! Until next time - have a great week and stay true to yourself ! Melinda in Florida

    Hello & Introduction

Hey Linda - An avatar is a picture or image you choose to appear by your name. You can upload your own picture or choose one that is available for you on LBT. If you click on User CP at the top of any LBT page, you will find more options to Edit Avatar and Edit Profile Picture (which shows as a larger image when someone looks at your profile). An NSV is a non-scale victory. Such as discovering youre pants are too big, or that you now fit in a theater chair with little effort, or that you are no longer on blood pressure medication, or that you can run up a flight of stairs. Benefits of weightloss that are more than just a number on a scale. Hope that helped.

1/3/06 214 lbs 1/8/06 214 lbs 1/17/06 213 lbs (but I saw 212.5 Sunday, lol) NSV 1- One of the ladies I work with told me I needed to go shopping for some new pants! My favorite black cropped ones dont even need to be unzipped, I can just pull them up and down, lol. NSV 2- I pulled out a Leslie Sansone 2mile tape that killed me last time I tried to use it and was able to do the whole tape! The walks, bike, and weights must have me in better shape!

Count me in! I like the NSV idea, but my suggestion would be to post one NSV a week instead of 2 or 3... That's just me though, I'm not very good at thinking of them. I don't have a big preference on the challenge length - I really like having a place to weigh-in every week.

Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge

I think I"ll just have my weight ticker tattooed in place, it's never going to change. I had two NSVs this week. One is that I went to a party where I only knew one person. Big deal? Yup, big deal since I am terrified of groups people. It's not like they are spiders or kittens or something like that, but I have avery difficult time with groups of people I don't know, I'm very shy. (yeah, who would believe that?) But I went to the party, and I was charming and talked to everybody. I don't think my husband would have recognized me.... The other NSV is that I've accepted that I'm not going to lose weight. Not until this Cushing's thing has been addressed or resolved. But because I've accepted it, I don't have to stress over it. I don't have to beat myself up any more. Oh wait, one more NSV, I need to take my watch to the Jewlers to have one of the links removed from the band!

I'm in too! This will be the first challenge I have participated in. Since it's a new year & will start on my B-day, I can't think of a better time for me to start my participation. I like the 1 NSV & the longer challenge.
1/3/06 - OOPS! I gained some weight over the holidays that just showed up this morning. What a great birthday present to myself! Okay so I'll have to work extra hard to get this 10 lbs back off again. So my official weigh in weight is 305 lbs. My goals are to at least lose 0.5 lb each week, & to limit my eating out to at least once a week. Good luck everyone!

1/4/06 Weight = 236 NSV: I bought a size 18/20 belt to hold up my too loose size 22 pants. 1/9/06 Weight = 234 (-2) NSV: I was able to fit into a misses size 20 pants at Old Navy. 1/16/06 Weight = 229 (-5) NSV(s): 1) My mother-in-law came to visit this past weekend and called me a "skinny minnie!" 2) I can now fit comfortably (with room to spare) in those plastic, stackable patio chairs. 1/23/06 Weight = 228 (-1) NSV: I FINALLY had to break down and buy new size 20 clothing because I was tired of my old clothes falling off of me. 1/30/06 Weight = 226 (-2) NSV: I had to move the seat in my vehicle closer to the steering wheel because my butt isn't so big anymore. 2/6/06 Weight = 221 (-5) NSV(s): 1) Our female bowling league partner told me this past Tuesday that I had a nice butt. P.S. She wasn't hitting on me. LOL 2) I fit into and purchased a pair of size 18 shorts. SV: 4 more pounds and I'm halfway to my goal!! :biggrin1: 2/13/06 Weight = 220 (-1) NSV: I don't really have one this week. Hopefully I'll make up for it with 2 next week. 2/20/06 Weight = 220 (no change) NSV(s): 1) On the plane to and from Vegas last week, I didn't have to struggle to secure my seatbelt, but rather had 6-8 inches of slack. 2) My hips didn't spread into the seats next to me causing the armrests to lift up. 3) My husband said he saw several men in Vegas checking out my ass!! LOL

start: 1/3/06 210 lbs 1/8/06 205 lbs (-5) -- I totally got back on track this week! NSV- my supervisor hadn't seen me in two weeks (over the holidays) and she said My God, you're getting smaller! I hadn't lost any additional weight between Christmas & New Years, so that really made me feel good and realize that even though you're not losing pounds, you're probably losing inches! That being said, here's NSV #2 NSV 2- I bought a pair of pants just before Christmas and I hadn't worn them until one day last week I wore them to work. They fit looser. NSV 3- I moved down one BMI category (from severely obese to obese)
