    Major Hairloss..Any suggestions?

Thanks Faith, and Peaches, that was what I was trying to ask...I wish it had worked for you Faith!!! I too had a complete hysterectomy several years prior to banding, and I do not take any HRT. My hysterectomy was done due to cancer, and at that time with the chemo, I lost ALL my hair, soI have also wondered if that predisposed me to lose more again. Mine has stopped falling out, several months ago now, and is regrowing in quit quickly. I would say I have been growing vs. losing for 5 months now, and the back has gotten to the point it now goes into my ponytail---just noticed that NSV this morning!!! Now the top and sides are still fuzzy. When I lost my hair to chemo, I lost lighter blonde straight hair, when it grew back it was darker and curly!!!! Seems the new hair growing in is still curly!!! Frizz is a pain, but with product, it is worth every strand!!! It is interesting to hear what the age span that the biggest hair loss occurred in.... Kat

    Best NSV yet

My daughter is an actress. We live in Boston, so there arent many opportunities for movie roles, so she does alot of community theatre and student films. Yesterday she was called to be an extra in the movie "The Departed" which is starring Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Martin Sheen. They said I could bring my older daughter too cause they needed about 70 people for a church fair scene. They picked me to do two scenes, one was with my kids (and about 100 other people) and the other is walking along a pier. They matched me up with a guy to walk down the pier with. Now pre surgery I would have never done the big scene and I am sure if I hadnt lost 50+ lbs they wouldnt have asked me to be in the 2nd scene. They were looking for average people. I guess I look average now. I am still morbidly obese, but I was shocked that they picked me!!!! Plus I bought a pair of size 22 jeans to wear to the set and I had to bring them back cause they were too big!! I grabbed a size 20 and they are even a bit roomy, size 18 here I come for the 1st time in 20 years....WOO HOO!! Patty
  4. I had surgery 5/8/12 so it is a few days short of one month. I lost 10 lb prior and 10 the week after, then stalled. I decided to put the scale up b/c I was obsessing. I plan to only weigh on fill appt days in the beginning. However, I had my third NSV. I am usually a size 20. I went to Target to look for swim suit tops b/c in 6 weeks we have a big trip planned. I was going to buy one a size smaller. However, as I began to try the plus size tops on, none fit. I went to the regular sizes and picked up a few tops. The one suite that I liked the most was only in a size LARGE. I tried it on and it FIT! Not plus size, not XXL, not XL, but LARGE! WOW, only one month out and I got to see LARGE on a reciept. Holy cow, that is truely what I needed. I also ran for the first time last night in over 3 years. I walked a mile and thought I would try to jog some of the next. I ended up jogging MOST of the second mile. I stopped 4 times for 30 seconds. I was very excited in the difference in my ability. I dont know if I have lost more than the 20 b/c I have not weighed but I sure love the NSV. Thanks for listening. Katy

    Weight at a stand still

I hit major stalls at pretty much every "10 lb lost" mark. The longest stall was 2 months, and it made me so mad! My doctor helped me through it though - he told me to stop worrying about the numbers on the scale, and to use it to just make sure I'm not gaining in a significant way. And that's how I use the scale to this day. NSVs are way more fun anyway! OMG, I remember one week I went up 5 lbs, and it P'd me off so bad - I wasn't even eating solid foods yet. Granted, it was the week before the start of my menstrual cycle, but still. For the first year, the numbers on the scale didn't move to match the changes I saw in the mirror, and it was so frustrating. I had a lot of anxiety over my 2 month stall (at 214 lbs, I'll never forget it). I kept saying to myself, "IS THIS IT??" Long story short: don't worry!

    Getting Real

I did so much better today! My first NSV for sure! I stuck to the post op diet and feel so much better! I even got more fluids in. I also switched from crystal lite to the low cal gatorade. I think my body needed the extra boost right now. Thanks for the support!!

    Welcome

NSV: Starting out at 350 lbs looking at my pre-op diet and thinking how am I going to do this? Dieting is not my strong point and I have to go on a liquid diet? My surgery is next Tuesday and this morning the scale reads 307!! I have to admit the first few days were not fun, but I feel like I scored!

    Nsv! New Bra Size!!!!!!

So, after the first 15 lbs or so that I lost, I felt my bra getting to big...but i just didnt feel i lost enough inches to drop a size. Last tuesday when I weighed myself i was at 29lbs gone (16 of it since surgery 4/26). I had gone to the store with a friend, and as we passed the "intimate apparel" area, i thought..hmmm, maybe? Then i got gutsy lol. I was wearing a 50C, normally you would just try one size down..but i said what the heck and grabbed a 46C...it fit..and it fit great...didnt roll on the sides, straps didnt slip, and mega support! It is a Just My Size brand...but this means that I am not far from a 44, which means I can go into any store, and select from many more styles off the pegs, rather than just the JMS ones in the boxes...i swear i have worn the same 3 styles of bras for as long as I can remember lol. I dont track my measurements..one because in past years when I have...after losing a few inches I would assume that i should change size and then go try it on, and it just didnt work and id be disappointed...so this way, i dont assume anything, and if i try something on and it dont fit..i dont feel so bad. Now, if the lower body can drop as easily as the upper body, id be set lol...but ill take a drop...ANYWHERE on my body lol.
  18. OK I just have to share... I bought some shorts about a month ago and was bummed when they didn't fit.... I decided to try them on today and they fit, comfortably. YEAH I am so excited especially since I haven't been seeing the scale move all that much. I actually have some older clothes in my "new" size that I can bust out now :smile2: I have nothing smaller than this (pantswise) so I will have to buy a pair of jeans or something the next size down for motivation. YEAH!!!

    NSV!

I have been doing the couch25K program and let me first say that I am not a runner! Never have been. I am not that person who can get on a treadmill and "forget" after a while that they are running. If anything, the longer I run the more I am aware that I am running. However, yesterday this girl ran 20min straight with no break. HUGE accomplishment in my books!!
  20. Good Morning Ladies, Up early this morning trying to reset my schedule. This past week was sort of difficult, I did not eat as much as I should. I got my protein in of course, but my calories were low just because I was doing a lot of moving around and have a tendency to forget to eat. I hope you all are enjoying your holiday season! NSV: I went to the skating ring with my family and my mom walking behind me grabbed me at the waist and says "girl, look at this tiny waist" ; > not where it needs to be but hey I will take it. Oh and 2 hours of skating and racing children keeps you sore for days. A great feeling.

    What's NSV Stand For?

NSV means "non-scale victory." These are the successes we all experience that are not tied to the numbers on the scale. It's very important to observe and celebrate these, because as we all know the numbers LIE. Smaller clothes and new physical achievements are more important than the simple dropping of pounds. You'll be celebrating yours before you know it!

    What's NSV Stand For?

Debbydo ~ this is a very good NSV!!! Keep this good out look on getting your weight and health under control and you will be a deffinate success!! Good for you. Hope you get approved soon.
  23. ...lucky me... Got into a previously tight bathing suit and it felt loose, how often does that happen? And took my kids to a family dance at the school last night and was sitting in a chair, looked down at my thighs and thought, "Whose long thin thigh is that?" Honestly, didn't recognize my own thigh, or at least hadn't really looked at them in a while. Yes, the banded life is good. How about you? You had any NSV moments lately? Do share.

Tray Table Down?Really the Tray Table Went Down

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Congratulations I KNOW that must feel good! I didn't use my tray when I just flew, probably out of habit of not being able to, but for once I wasn't "wedged" into the seat I was able to sit somewhat comfortably... YAY FOR YOU! HUGE NSV!!!
