Hey LindsayB, I don't know if I can offer any encouragement but I feel your pain. I was banded on Friday too and have been STARVING ever since. I was really hoping the hunger would go away. The liquids and even Protein shakes don't seem to help much. Really looking forward to the mushy food phase. My stomach is constantly rumbling, probably partially because of gas from the surgery. TMI... Best of luck and let me know if you come up with anything to help.

I've told anyone that would stand still. SERIOUS! On Mother's day I was telling the buffet lady. "pile it on, I'm having surgery in a few weeks!"... my mother could have died! I don't like to hide anything. I wear all my emotions on my sleeve. I do suffer from TMI syndrome too. Basically it comes down to who you really want to know. On the day of my surgery, there were twins sisters there that hadn't told a soul besides their significants. I can't imagine that. But to each his own. It's all up to you and who you're comfortable with knowing about it. PS~ I must say my ex hubby does NOT know... none of his damn biz.... and I wanna surprise him one day looking damn good.. know what I mean??

Okay ladies! I have finally caught up. I didn't want to post until then. So many many things to say. My vacation was wonderful. Too much fried food, too many drinks. Gained almost 3 pounds. Today I worked very hard at only putting protein in my body. Did a pretty decent job. Total cals, 1100, protein 90 g. Fiber was almost non existent. I'm pretty sure that tomorrow will be a bad poo day. I know...tmi I was busy today and didn't have a chance to do ANYTHING physical. Tomorrow I will be doing 2 walks. One in the morning and one in the evening. Back to the work of getting ready for this walk. I'm very excited to say that I'll be spending the weekend with Karla out on the lake. I'm so excited. We will have a great chance to get on the same page. We will be able to get some great hiking in. Maybe even some kayaking. I picked up the EA active while I was gone, but I have not had a chance to try it. Tomorrow hopefully. Okay. I'm off. I have to serve lunch at church tomorrow. Was supposed to be my MIL, SIL, and myself, but both of them have had issues so that they will not be helping me. I'm a little freaked out but Rose will be helping me. Keep me in your thoughts. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. Hopefully with really good news on my food and exercise. Have a great night ladies.

I think it depends on the individual , not the age. I am 46 was done on tues and don't even feel as though I have had surgery. I had mild pain for the first 24 - 48 hours but nothing now(except period pains and thats altogether another matter, far worse than the op). Sorry if that's TMI! Was nauseous the first couple of days but soup seems to have solved that. I wake up not hungry which is great. Am slowly sipping an instant breakfast at the moment. Normally by now I would have eaten stacks and still be hungry. I don't think I am managing all the drinks as well as the food - it is just sooo much liquid.I find that I am satisfied at the moment but I do need the soup etc. I also find I am hungrier at the end of the day than the beginning. My homemade soup tastes so much better than the preop stuff. I am eating slowly but still worry a little that maybe I am eating faster than I am supposed to - it is difficult to judge. I am able to sleep on my side with no discomfort and can drive short distances without a problem. I have been lounging around the house lots doing nothing much as I don't want to push it. I was wondering if those of you that were done early this week have taken your dressings off already? I am supposed to take them off but am a bit nervous about it, especially the port one. Once you take them off do you leave them as they are or have you put a fresh dressing on?Just wondering what is best.

Just to the right of my port (which is just above my belly button), about 3 inches toward my right hip I noticed swelling today. The entire tummy area has been a little swollen since surgery (9 days ago) but it looks like the rest of my stomach is almost back to normal except this one area. It's about the size of a decent sized fist. When I showered this evening I noticed it felt kind of hard too. I have a doc visit tomorrow but I know I'm going to spend the rest of the night wondering if a surgical towel was left in me, or if my port tubing got undone somehow and tangled itself around something, or God knows what my pea brain may think up next. Everything is working normally from food intake to bowels (though come to think of it I only had a little bowel movement this morning and nothing since). TMI!!! Other than that I'm feeling pretty good.

I am not but My fiancee is, he plays guitar. Yeah I heard about that, the slow down, I don't own a scale (yet) but I have a doctors appt in about an hour so I know she'll weigh me. Probably TMI but I think during my surgury because of the pressure on the abdomin my IUD shifted, so I have to see the gyno (Probably MORE TMI but the hunny said he can feel it, and I got my period 2 days after surgery for the 2nd time this month) so it's basically an emergency appt. Yeah My friend is an art teacher and tells everyone she has the coolest job in the world. I am a music junky. have been involved since I was 14 (R.I.P CBGB'S)

Warning . . . maybe TMI. I think I am leaking today which is quite a shock. It is definitely not urine, clear and odorless, looks like water, and it is not continuous either. It only seems to come if I change position (like standing up) but then stops. It seems to be somewhere around a tablespoon when it happens but has happened 4 or 5 times this morning. Could this be it? My water never broke before and this is nothing like what I expected. There is no pain or anything to go along with it. I actually noticed it first when I woke up this morning and was laying in bed after hitting snooze . . . I just kinda felt a little wet all of a sudden and my first thought was that maybe I peed a little although it has not happened before . . . but I checked and I am sure it was not pee. I got a call into my OB, I just havent heard back yet. I am not sure if I should get excited or not. I feel exceedingly normal this morning otherwise.

Thanks Tegan...I thought I better put a pic up...I know what you mean I've been on a stand still for 2 wks as well. Seems like when you start to eat solids again that it just stops funny cos I still can only eat small amounts about a cup max maybe twice a day with a shake 4 bfast. I'm up an down 1kg at the moment waiting on my period ( sorry about that TMI...LOL) But I've had some chocolate cravings nasty little things they are lol. How much have you lost so far? I'm around the 12kg mark down, but very much looking 4wd to it moving again...I'll let you know how my fill goes tomorrow..Take care Annie

Hey there Apples.. I would have to say yes it does make a difference. I lost a significant amount in the mons area and WOW is all I can say. I thought I would need a mons lift as well but it actually shrunk! I am probably at my peak as well since I can't seem to get enough. I have always had a high sex drive but I think I might end up killing my hubby by dehydration lol.. sorry if that was TMI. I have read that with a mons lift the (little man in the boat) is more easily accessible and doesn't have a lot of mass covering it.. i really hope you know what I am saying rofl. So when the mass is pulled up the little man in the boat is more sensitive to just regular sex no touching just from the pressure. Bahh.. this is hard to write without getting into to much detail. So I would say it would help lol. Long- I am only 4 and a half pounds from my goal weight but that goal keeps changing. I was shooting for 165 but I am thinking I might try and go for closer to 150. I just want to be at the smallest possible weight before plastic surgery so I get the best result. I don't want to do it to soon and get plastic surgery lose more weight and have extra skin again.. not that it would be much but hey if I am getting it done why not go for as perfect as possible. As to when I am getting it, I am shooting for this winter so that I can wear a bikini next year.. oh god did I really just say that? Yes I want to wear a bikini next year and I will! My goal is to be in the best shape of my life in my 40's! I will turn 40 in February. I hope everyone has a great day!

How long til your steri strips fell off?
jennybeck replied to Pangaeus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 4/29, was sent home with band aids over 5 small incisions. I went in for my post op appointment on 5/05 to have staples removed and steri strips applied. By 5/06 I had blisters where the adhesive was and the blisters were oozing (TMI). Not the incisions themselves but where the steri strips were stuck to my skin. So, I went ahead and pulled them off and put band aids on for a few more days. I must be allergic to that type of adhesive. -
Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
sweetbean70 replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello! I'm on day 6 of my 11 day pre-op diet. I kind of did things a bit backwards by scheduling my surgery date and then going in for my EKG, psych eval, nutrition consult, etc. Because of my timeline, I didn't have a full 14 days to do my pre-op diet. I am being banded on June 8. At my surgery consult, I told the nurse that I didn't have a full 2 weeks for my diet and she told me that it wouldn't be a problem b/c I'm "pear-shaped." This means that I do not carry most of my excess weight around my liver, but rather through my butt, hips, and lower belly. My pre-op diet is a combination of Medifast and Healthwise products. With the Medifast, I also get to eat 1 meal that is "lean + green" (6oz of lean protein and 3 servings of a green veggie). I thought I would try to eat only the products, but I felt so crappy yesterday that I had a baked chicken breast and some sliced cucumbers w/ white vinegar and black pepper (yummy). I feel much better today. I also noticed yesterday that I had an awful taste in my mouth and was constantly thirsty. (TMI) My urine was also very strong smelling. I asked the nutritionist at my surgeon's office about these symptoms and she said that I was probably in ketosis. This happens when you are burning up your fat storage. :frown: -
Long....don't change your ticker. That weight will come off by the weekend. Try to get enough fiber this week. Throw a cup of canned spinach in you diet once a day until you anniversary date and see what happens. It always seems to get things on track for me...flushes my system and gives me energy. Not eating any at this stage and really miss it. It's worth a try. Allie, Teach and Long....I bet if you took a poll, 90% of ppl complain of slowing down on wieght loss the closer they get to goal. Try to be patient. You will be "yahooing" b/4 you know it. Then all you need to do if figure out what it takes for you to stay at goal with cals and exercise. When are you planning PS, Allie? I guess the only thing I would like done is a mons lift (yep, it's been discussed here b/4) and maybe a thigh lift. The tummy and girls come out of this pretty good....arms are barely affected....I am lifting weights and it has helped tremendously. Just not sure if I want to go through yet another surgery but know I would feel better (ego) if I had the thighs and mons done. I put a question into Dr. Schulman yesterday regarding the sagging mons and how it relates to (trying to say this without tmi) sexual pleasure. I have noticed in the last couple of months that things just aren't the same as b/4 in that dept. In a 30 yr marraige and things have not changed with DH and I...just think it is a physical thing and where things down there are now hangin'. Do any of you know anything about a mons lift making a difference in the bedroom???????

But unfortunately after giving birth to my second son I developed a hemorrhoid(sorry TMI) LOL Now I don't think so. We try on occassion but after the head I am involuntarily shoving him off from so much pain.....Never had an orgasim doing it that way though but wish I had.... LOL -
port, pain, swelling - gas?
Pangaeus replied to dhall111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, mine too on the left side. Two weeks out though and it is feeling alot alot better in terms of the sharp pain, so I would just give yourself some time. Seems like alot of people start to feel much better at the 2 week mark. Today though I had lots of gas...could be becaue I started a job and now just have the 30 min to eat, so I prob ate too fast. (TMI warning)...When I was finally able to take my 15 minute break, I took a walk by myself and had the most amazing loooong farts. I felt so much better after that. :-) -
So I have my pre-op class (8 HOURS) next Monday. Tuesday is only mushies, and Wednesday is only clear liquids (Praise God it wasn't 2 weeks like most of you people!). But also on Wed. I have to do a "bell prep"? Basically take a prescription that will make me poop all morning! Then I have a dr appt at 2:00 that day. Concerned about the unknown I called today to find out what to expect (besides the poop. lol) at that appt. They will do a breast exam and a RECTAL exam! Please tell me what those two areas have to do with this surgery??????????????????????????????????????????????????? I told my husband (whom I avoiding sexually at the moment for personal reasons) that we my have to loosen up my hind end a little to prepare for a STRANGERS finger up my tail pipe!! (He's quite happy I have to break my subatical. :w00t:) TMI I know!

Crazy hormones wreaking havoc on my band
sweetbean70 replied to Tralynn222's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL! It is so good to know that the band is going to help me in the exact opposite direction during "that time of the month." I can always tell when my period is on the way b/c i constantly find myself in front of the fridge or raiding the pantry for something to eat while the whole time I am telling myself that I am not hungry. I am getting banded on June 8th and if the surgery doesn't throw off my cycle, my "visitor" should arrive around the 20th (sorry, TMI). I will have to keep an eye out for the tight feeling. -
Shelley & Gonnagetbanned, Milk of Magnesia finally did the trick for me. I took everything under the sun before I broke down and tried good ol' MoM. It's true, it's slimy, but swallow it quickly, drink some Water afterward, and go to bed. I had to take it two days in a row before it worked, but then again, I have IBS w/constipation as a regular problem, so that didn't surprise me that it didn't work the first time around. Now I add Miralax sometimes and Benefiber sometimes to my drinks. I must ask others this TMI question, though: Has the quantity/amount of BM you are passing gone way down? B/C mine has... a LOT. I guess that's normal since we're eating much less, right? But it never went down significantly when I was on other diets.

Not for the squeamish or shy...
hallelujah.girl replied to Kellster's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I have added a little fiber to my diet, but not much. I'm still not going potty (3 times since surgery). I live in a small town with no walmart and haven't been in a while. Been meaning to get me some benifiber. I do have a family dollar but they don't sell anything but laxatives. I have never had to use them before, but I have heard that alot of people use them to lose weight, so I said what the hey. Well I took one last night before bed, and woke up about six-thirty cramping. I was sweating and cramping and cramping and sweating, farting, sweating and more cramping. I thought I was going to pass out. Then finally I did the deed. First in solid form then came the hershy squirts. Way TMI!!! I don't think I'll be taking laxatives ever again!!! Gentle my #**. On a possitive note, I lost 1.8lbs LOL -
Hey all, I really need some advice. I had my first and only fill on may 6th and now 3 weeks later I feel very tight and uncomfortable. It had been about 4 days feeling this week. Is it common to have a delayed reaction like this? I had been feeling wonderful before hand. I am also extreamly constipated (tmi I know, but trying to figure this out), could the constipation be making me feel tight? please any any all thoughts and advice is MUCH appreciated. thanks in advance, amy

BM changes post op--TMI
dapcoinc replied to savannahsmommie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with liquid in - liquid out....theory but there are enough solids in the Trader Joe's powder to make some sort of solid movement. If you use a stick mixer with either a banana of the white of an apple and beaten until liquid, there are enough of natures solids to ease your TMI -
BM changes post op--TMI

Keep in mind if you are taking pain meds after surgery, a side effect to narcotics is constipation/impaction FYI for a little TMI. lol
