    should_be_working!!

Hey Sally, Day 2 & 3 where the worst for me and that when the nasueau really kicked in !! They prescribed me something for the naseau that worked wonders but the gas there was nothing to do but walk and walk and walk !! honestly it took a full 9 days before I felt like my old gassless self !! :frown: But trust me once you get over that hump you feel fantastic !! I'm almost 3 weeks post op and feeling like a million bucks !! :tt1: It's all a bit strange how I have to work to really get in the calories cause once I take about 5 bites of whatever not hungry anymore..it's bizzare but awesome!! And about the farts..dont worry about it, my husband actually made it a game to see how many I could get out in an hour !! LMAO I know TMI !!! :w00t:
  2. Gald to see I'm not alone!! My tummy does feel better now that I have been able to add some of the thicker liquids and some oatmeal etc... I am still TMI.....constipated and bloated!

    PERIOD OUT OF CONTROL

I struggle with a heavy flow (TMI to some idc). When it's that time of the month for me, I take ibuprofen. I hated the side effects of birth control and while I still have my hormones go out of whack and get insanely emotional or crazy during this time of the month, taking ibuprofen daily helped slow things down for me dramatically. Oh and buy overnight "ultra" tampons for the first few days that it's the heaviest. Good luck! It's a really hard thing to deal with, I know! @TheNewGiGi
  4. I had my surgery on Tuesday May 15th. Despite dealing with the extra pain that came along with correcting an unknown hiatal hernia, recovery has been ok except for the one nagging incision. It’s seriously burns (it’s not infected) or aches all day long unless I keep an ice pack on it. Does any one have any suggestions on how alleviate this? Also I don’t ever have the urge to pee anymore (sorry TMI) I just go because my brain thinks it’s been too long. Someone tell me I’m not going insane.

    Pre Op Diet Starts Today

@@j16 Me too!!!!! I told my husband yesterday that this would be much easier if my stomach wasn't always growling. I feel like I am over the mental hunger and am not having issues with choosing what to eat it is just that my stomach is always growling. Post Op at least that should be helped a bit. A little TMI but my liquid diet is making a lot of bathroom issues. Guess it is a sneak peak into the future "don't trust a fart" phase!
  7. Hi there. I was wondering what people have experienced in their monthly cycle since having surgery. I tend to be fairly regular with timing each month, and how long it lasts, but I know a big reduction in caloric intake will definitely affect everything. Did you even get your period during the first month? Just curious about what to expect...thanks!

    Frustrated

Sometimes my brain just can't seem to agree with itself, and definitely not with my body. I know that the week three stall exists, and I know that my hormones are out of wack, but I am having a hard time not being frustrated at my body. I think it's a combination of the two, plus the fact that the week before last I put out a tiny also. I haven't had a decent loss since the middle of week 2. I have been stuck at 298 for the past week now. I should really learn to follow my own advice better. Put the scale away, Izuri! It's much easier said than done. It would be helpful if my rational brain could emerge a little more this week. I am on my period for the third time since surgery, which was almost exactly 3 weeks ago. I am not sleeping nearly as well as I used to, and I have had no energy for the past 3-4 days. I thought that maybe I'd switch things up on my diet. I've tried diligently to get in my protein, have cut my carbs down to under 40 like my doctor recommended, and have been loading up on water like it's going to disappear tomorrow. Nothing had helped me budge from 298. My rational brain knows that this surgery works. It knows that I'm already down like 27 pounds and that's a lot for 3 weeks, that I should just be happy and put the dang scale away. I know I'm retaining water because with all that like 80oz of water I got in yesterday I think I went to the restroom maybe 3 times (TMI? Sorry.) there's just no way I couldn't be retaining. Plus, my 28s fit, whereas they were loose before. I guess there's this little part of my brain that keeps worrying that maybe that was it. Maybe those under 30 pounds are what I get from this surgery. I know that's almost certainly not true, but I just wish that part of my brain would hush up. I just hate doing everything right and having it not work. I have read through a lot of week 3 stall posts to try and keep myself from being discouraged. I am not going to give up, but I would love if anyone had recommendations of things they do when they start feeling frustrated about a stall. I am gonna make it through this and come out on the other side finally freaking losing again. Anyway, I know it's been ranted about 100 times over, but I just needed to get it out somewhere.

    Upset Stomach :(

Not to be too TMI but do you think you might be constipated. Sometimes, you can get that feeling when you are backed up!! I still can get nauseous if my Vitamins don't sit well or new foods (but you said that isn't the case for you this time).
  10. Has anyone had to have gallbladder surgery after already having surgery for your sleeve? My surgeons said it was too risky doing them at the same time, so on 1/19/15 I go in the hospital for gallbladder surgery and if so how did you feel after? (Tmi) did you have diarrhea, nausea, ect.. After you recovered? Thank you in advance!!

    2 weeks out...

I agree, things will probably go down easier than you think. You haven't had any fills yet. I had no problems keeping things down until I had had a few fills. Take your time and you should be fine. Also, even if you do get sick it's really not that bad. I get a feeling of pressure in my chest and something like nausua. I then go to the bathroom and it comes up pretty gently. There's no heaving like when you have the flu. I feel fine once it comes up. This may all be TMI sorry. Of course you don't want this to happen, but I just want you to know it's really not that bad. Congrats on your surgery!
  12. I actually felt surprisingly well immediately after the surgery and had very little stomach cramping, no nausea, and minimal pain. I was stunned by how much pain I was in during my first TOM post-surgery. The cramping was severe and persisted for the entire week rather than just the first day. Anything I ate caused me to feel ill. For two days I could only consume Clear liquids, and even that was problematic. I ended up getting Pediolyte for fear that I was being dehydrated from all the diarrhea. I cannot drink plain Water. The only drinks my stomach has tolerated well is Gatorade and fresh squeezed orange juice, both of which are caloric so I don't want to have them daily. I had to take time off of work because the cramps were so incapacitating, and the inability to keep down food and liquids had made me really dizzy and weak. I had thought that once my period ended, I'd feel fine again. That hasn't been the case, though I thankfully do feel better. It's been a week since it ended and though I no longer have the intense stomach cramps I still am having digestive issues. Every time I eat or drink anything about half an hour later I have an urgent need for a BM. I then have several more throughout the day, and wake up about 4 times a night for it. I'd thought that perhaps I had transitioned into soft foods too quickly, so I went back to the full liquid diet of Soups and Protein shakes. That worsened the problem, which surprised me because I'd tolerated them fine a few weeks ago. I then started to eat more soft solids again, hoping that could help. It did help some, but not enough. I'd been great about getting in plenty of protein and liquids the first few weeks, and am now not getting in nearly enough. I am trying to limit dairy to see if maybe that's a contributing factor, but even when I haven't consumed any the problem has persisted. It's definitely interfered with my work and social life. I'm afraid to even go on a walk on the beach for fear that my stomach will seize up. I was like a hermit all weekend long, even though it was so beautiful out and there were exciting things going on. As far as weight loss goes, I've lost 22 pounds since surgery (mid-August) and a total of 31 pounds since my highest weight. My BMI is currently 29.5. I'm happy with the progress. I'm just concerned about the stomach issues. I'm also lethargic because I haven't really been able to exercise much and am not able to get in enough calories. Did anyone else experience anything like this?
  13. Been banded since July 2, had my second fill last week (that makes 2cc in a 14cc band)... Here we go, ever since last fill (last week). After the first second or third bite I get a building lump in my throat. Here comes the tmi, ...after a burp (or mild assistance up comes a significant amour of plain gup not the food??? Help Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
  14. I have an iud, got my period a couple days after surgery and really bled off and on for 2 weeks. Usually its 5-7 days and its so lite I just wear a panty liner. Not this time. I was just sleeved dec 27. So hopefully its back to normal next month. Sorry if tmi but u asked!
  15. I Am 2 weeks out and in feel amazing!!!! Not a single problem with eating, pain, anything! I have gone hiking, walking, cleaning, a 6 hour trips to the zoo and still feel amazing!! So my question is when did you have sex for the 1st time.....I want to but am scared..... Sorry for the personal question but I never thought to ask the surgeon and they never said anything orther than don't get pregnant Thank!!
  16. I borrowed a heating pad from my grandmother on the advice of a relative and kept it on my belly on high. I would get up every hour or so and do a very small about of walking and moving around like I would go downstairs and outside and around the apartment and then back upstairs to bed. haha...anyways....I didn't think it was helping until at the end of the first full day that I used the heating pad it was like my body deflated. Tmi....I know but i was burping and tooting and felt better and better as each one passed. So my advice to you is a heating pad.

    Wtf... Tmi...

I have PCOS and an IUD. I have about 2 periods a year that last a couple of days but are so light that you only need pantiliner -- sorry if TMI. But since my surgery 3 weeks ago I have been heavily spotting and cramping on and off for 2 weeks. I was told it was normal and was due to the surge in estrogen from rapid weight loss.
  18. This is going to be way TMI but I wasn't in to it till one day I was on top and for once, since surgery, I didn't feel like I was crushing my husband. I suddenly could let go. What a great feeling. It will get easier- try not to stress too much about it- I know it is hard. I definitely went through the motions too after surgery because I knew how important it was to my hubby to have that intimacy. Hang in there.
  19. I had gastric bypass on july 27 2016. First 3 weeks were tough with the eating (broth/soups) and learning to sip my Water. However I felt I was getting the hang of it. I went to my 3 week post op appt and I was down 30 pounds!! I couldnt believe it. The middle of my 4th week I started to introduce new foods and I have noticed I can't keep anything in. This is TMI but I have constant diarrhea Anytime I eat something 20 mins later, my stomach starts turning, I have to go to the restroom. I have not been able to intake all my Protein all though I do try. I can not tolerate the smell. I force myself to drink the shakes. Also I do stay hydrated and am drinking all my water and take my Vitamins. I was working out doing cardio and floor exercises now I feel like I have no energy. Any one else going thru anything like this. Does it stop? What can I take for an upset stomach?? Any advise??? ♡sammywammy ????

    My EVERYTHING itches!

Wow...I'm glad you posted about this. Prepare for TMI. I am 5 weeks out and for the past two weeks have had a lot of itching. The itching is only in my pubic area though. There is absolutely no itching within, only on the outer skin. I've tried putting powder on it, using benadryl cream, using hydrocortisone cream...even very hot water, which always worked whenever I've had poison ivy. All of these will work for about 8 hours, then the itching starts up again. I am going to bring it up with my surgeon when I go in in a week. When I had my wisdom teeth out, the doc warned me about the anesthesia. He said I would feel intense itching in my pubic area just before I went unconscious. He was right. It was a strong itch, and it is in the same area that I'm itching now, so I'm also wondering if it is a delayed reaction to the anesthesia like someone else posted. This is not an area you want to scratch in public...lol.
  21. This will be a long one, I'm afraid. I was banded 04/20/2006 by Dr. Ariel Ortiz in TJ. Surgery went great. My second - and last - fill was on 07/11/2006 for a total fill of 2.4 cc in a 10 cm band. Starting losing weight and was doing just fine. In November I began having stiffness and swelling in my back due to diagnosed spinal arthritis and bone spurs. This made my band a little tighter. Near the end of December I experienced bloating and swelling due to perimenopausal bleeding that I had not seen in four years. You guessed it, my band felt even tighter. By the end of January I knew it was time for an unfill until I could get these issues resolved. I made an appointment locally for a fluoro and unfill. The night before I was scheduled to go in, I ate a piece of chicken. It immediately obstructed my band. I have never known such pain as this, and I've had natural childbirth and three kidney stones. The vomiting and retching were over the top. I was taken immediately to the ER. Of course, they had never heard of the band. All I could say was "Get a 2-inch needle, aspirate all fluid from the port!" I even told them to go look it up online. One of the sweet ER nurses did come in and ask me to not scream so loud as I was scaring a child down the hall! As if I could stop. The local lap band doc (who was not on call) came to my rescue and removed all the fluid from my band. There was a great sense of relief, but I still had a lot of pain. It had been mitigated somewhat by the 5 mg of morphine they gave me. They sent me home. Within an hour, I knew I was in bad trouble. The pain had just increased more, so back we went to the ER. At least I got a different nurse this time! Bloodwork was done, followed by CT scan. Just an elevated white count. They decided to admit me for an endoscopy the following morning. It was about 2 a.m. by this time. They kept me drugged with the 5 mg morphine every 45 minutes to an hour, and it barely kept me going. The next morning at 11 a.m. I went down for an endoscopy to be followed by a gastric graphing. After waking up from the endo, they said no more tests for you. You have to go to immediate surgery. I saw the pictures from the endo - pink, pink, black. I knew it was bad when I saw black! The scheduled my surgery for 5 p.m. but moved it up to 2 p.m. As I was being rushed in, I was told that my band had slipped catastrophically down the front of my stomach and my stomach was being deprived of oxygen from being strangled by the band. They were hoping to do a lap incision and remove the band and things would go back to normal. The surgeon took one look in the lap incision, took a picture of my stomach looking the same color as my liver (bad news!) and then removed the lap tool and opened me up all they way, from sternum to belly button. They removed the band, along with two/thirds of my stomach that had died over the last few hours. I woke up with a six-inch stapled incision, a two-inch stapled incision, two drains, a central line to my heart, an NG tube that went into what was left of my stomach, a Foley catheter and those lovely leg squeezers. I was unable to get out of bed for four days and didn't have solid food for over a week. IVs only. The NG tube was my "friend" for five days. I was given alternating doses of two different antibiotics every six hours to prevent peritonitis. I was on a morphine pump to administer 5 mg of morphine every hour on the hour. I used that pump for over seven days. Thank God the antibiotics worked! I was in the hospital 11 days and am very lucky to be here today. Now to answer a few questions I know some of you might have. My band had not slipped before this night, and I had no symptoms of a slip. I had no symptoms of anything. No pain, No acid reflux, no PB'g. I was able to eat and drink as I had before it started getting tighter, just much smaller amounts. The doctor said the initial surgery looked like a good surgery, so no problem there. I did all the things I was supposed to be doing, eating slow, chewing well, etc. The doctor who fixed me up said I should have no long-term effects from losing so much stomach, except for some weight loss. I will only be able to eat small amounts, about 4 oz., five to seven times a day. I've lost over 17 pounds since the surgery and am struggling not to lose more as I need to get in more calories to help my body heal faster. I'm dealing with low-grade queasiness all day, and the BMs will be faster until they get settled down. The doc was able to save my pyloris, so I won't have the "dumping" issues we've all heard about. Before you get too scared over my story, just remember that my surgeon said that this is a very rare occurence. This was the first time he's seen it happen this way. But you know what they say, "The statistics may be only 1%, but if you are that 1%, then your statistic just jumped to 100%. We all know when we decide to get the lap-band that complications can happen, so I felt it was necessary to share with this community my personal experience. I do not regret getting my lap-band last year. It just turned out that I was to be one of the "statistics" we all read about. Considering the seriousness of my situation, I'm so very grateful to be here to be able to share this with you. I've often wondered over these last few weeks as I recover if there was anything I could have done to prevent this from happening. The doc says probably not as I had no symptoms and was in the process of doing the right thing by getting a fluoro and an unfill. I know this post may contain TMI, and I apolopgize in advance for that. But I also know there are many, many of you on this board that want and need to hear my story. So here it is. Feel free to post any questions for me. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions I can.

    Lactose Intolerant

Not sure where I should have put this but it is going in this forum. I had my gallbladder out in 2000 and every since then anytime I eat greasy food or food with dairy it causes stomach issues and TMI I end up in the restroom. What do you do for this problem after you get the band if it continues to be a problem...I know that I won't have to worry about greasy foods but dairy is a concern to me....Can I take the lactose pills that come over the counter or will this problem go away.
  23. Guys I’ve done relatively good I was sleeved 4/2017 I was 398 today 7/2018 I’m 220. My problem at one time was bowel movements with a little TMI i had hemroids and fissures. Finally got over that with heavy dosage miralax and stool softeners with stimulants. I am now using miralax since it is an osmotic and not stimulant in morning and at in afternoon. I’m not sure what long term effects will be. Since I only eat a protein shake in the morning and a small lunch and small dinner usually 1 cup per meal it’s hard to get fiber in. I also feel that lose stuffed and heavy if I don’t take the miralax.

    Side pain...looking for input

My side pain took a turn for the worst last night. I went to bed with the left side pain. The pain started to get intense and before I knew what hit me it had radiated all around my abdomen! It was across my abdomen below my chest and all the way around my back. I slimmed like a faucet! (sorry tmi). The pain subsided and the slimming stopped so I went back to bed. 5 min later this whole episode repeated itself only the pain was worst than the first time. I woke my husband up who kept asking me to explain what was going on. I couldn't talk, it hurt to talk. Again it subsided and I went back to bed. I told my husband if it happened again to call an ambulance that I couldn't tolerate another episode. We just laid there waiting.... I woke up this morning and haven't had another episode but the left pain is still here. I called today and Iam going in at 1pm. I will let you know what they say!! Iam scared. I don't want anything to be wrong with my band. THIS SUCKS.
  25. Hi Trina, and welcome to the forum! First off, don't be too anxious about the surgery, it's really not that bad. I know some people have a lot of issues with gas pain up to a week after surgery, including left shoulder pain, so be prepared for that. I, unfortunately, was not a surgery "virgin", but I knew that I always throw-up (sorry for the TMI) at least once after anesthesia, so I asked for extra meds. Because I get motion sick, I got a motion sickness patch behind my ear, and an extra shot after surgery to ward off getting ill. If you tend to get motion sickness, let your doctor know (I was told to tell the anesthesiologist, <-- thank goodness for spell check, the morning of surgery). The IV doesn't hurt, and at most a little sting as the nurse is inserting it. Read all you can to prepare, and ask questions, because someone here will have an answer.
