I had my 6 week follow-up appointment yesterday and I have lost 30% of my excess body fat! My doctor said most people are only around 15% at my stage, so I'm ahead of the game! Oh and I also got accepted into grad school!

All of my December sleevers...
DeeBrownBaker replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Fellow December sleevers... I've fallen off the site... back in school... post graduate stuff... (am I psycho or what?? lol) anyway... I have a NSV to share... I remember a day when I could barely walk down a flight of stairs without being totally winded... when I got off work yesterday, the elevator to the parking deck was out... me... parked on level 10... I walked up like a champ... got to work this morning... elevator still out ... walked down 9 flights and back up after work...I am soooo elated to be able to be this physical and energetic! My niece saw me in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt that fit (size 22 down from a 32W) and almost walked past me... she said she did not readily recognize me! Loving my sleeve!! -
NSV - Regular size towels!
indi1 replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes, another NSV I had forgotten about! -
OMG, so before surgery and traveling, the hotel bath towels never fit around me.. maybe could get it to cover half of my body and hated it... after recently traveling a lot I got to the hotel took a shower and WHOA a towel fit all the way around with room to spare.. Thinking maybe this hotel just uses larger towels... I tested it at target, picking up a cheap regular sized bath towel and BOOOM same thing it fit around me! So to celebrate when me and my husband got home we got rid of all the large beach towels I used as bath towels... and bought new regular sized bath towels... Haha, who knew towels could be so exciting?!?!?

NSV today, or maybe not....
TJL replied to LipstickLady's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OMG, that is sooo funny. At the same time it is a great NSV, and also a wake up call for me. I need to get out there and buy some new undies(I've been putting it off too cheap!) I don't want this this happening to me! -
I was walking down the main aisle trying to get my steps in and looking for something new and exciting to add to my soft/pureed foods diet when I felt a draft around my buttocks area. It took me a minute to realize that my knickers had fallen down inside my pants. The pants I am wearing today are about a size too big so when they fell, they fell deep down in there and it took awhile to pull them out. The NSV? No bright flash went off when I was fishing down my pants for my underwear and I've not appeared on peopleofwalmart.com yet.

Firefly - It is VERY liberating. Other than seeing my collarbone for the first time in years, this was probably the most exciting NSV I've had!!! Who would have ever guessed throwing perfectly good pizza away would feel so darn good!!!!!!?????

Shantelle, the weight loss will help with the aggravating acute pain. Pain will always be apart of our lives, but I think manageable is what us degens look for. Just to be able to participate in normal functions is great. I'm happy to say that I have managed to get myself back into horse back riding. Something that I wouldn't have dared to do just this past January. These are those NSV (non scale victories) they talk about and this one just makes me feel as free as being at a healthy weight

I'm going to make this one of my NSV -- to throw out perfectly fine food and not look back. I couldn't have done that -- I would have been feeding it to the dogs or something on the place (surely the raccoons would have liked that, right?). It's been enough for now that I'm okay with leaving a bite or two on the plate and then handing it over to my older cat if it's something he really likes to finish off. Since moving to more solid food I've been eating more and more fish and he loves it. I remember being in the kitchen one night and couldn't eat more than 2-3 bites of salmon. I didn't want to put it back in the fridge so I fed it to Alex. It was a little unsettling watching him eat that and realizing that my cat can now eat more food than me.

The things you will buy because they are on clearance...
Terry Poperszky commented on Terry Poperszky's blog entry in Terry Poperszky's Blog
The real NSV for me is this as I was trying on clothes and asking my wife's opinion, a couple of times she asked me if I was sucking my gut in, and I kept saying no. I finally had to suck it in to show her, and her eyes got really wide -
It is fantastic when we recognize NSV's. Plus this is something that you could never accomplish as a youngster too! BTW if I raise my arms too, I have a lot of skin hanging that I call my bat wings....... LOL Keep it up I realized the other day i like it when men look at my body now...... Never did before.

Congrats and best wishes on your 1st NSV, and all the more to come!

April 2013 Post-Op Group
MrsLulu replied to Wendilou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having weird cravings for the last couple of days. Can't sleep at all lately, and just craving pickles. I have gotten between 65-85 grams of protein every day, and drinking all kinds of things throughout the day. I have finally found protein bars that I like, and that is really helping me. I am even hitting above 600 cals which I wasn't for a long time. My hair is falling out Sooo bad! It is scary. I even have biotin, but still happening. Hope it doesn't get worse. NSV- because of the way I am cooking everyone in my family is losing weight. My little girl has a much stronger sense of eating to fuel your body and not just eat. She was chunky, but has lost 12 lbs now. So proud of her.
