Let's discuss "the foamies" and "sliming"
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I did it again. I had my son and DIL over for dinner and their brand new 3 week old baby. I had meat loaf, (a very tiny piece) one broccoli flowerette, and one noodle. I thought I was good. Sure enough, 15 min later, the watery mouth starts up. It must have been that one noodle, huh? I have already thrown up a big wad of the foam 3 times (sorry TMI) but my mouth is still watering. I wish I would learn how to eat. -
Recent "bandits"
ocotillo replied to tcbplainville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded July 2nd. I went to work today and my body is starting to function again....all of it. I was really wondering if I was ever going to get rid of that last meal I ate 5 days ago. I didn't eat very much, but it hadn't made an appearance until today. I kind of feel like the senior citizen who's major topic of conversation is their BM...it was getting a little scary. Sorry if this is TMI. I haven't been hungry really, but today those gurgling noises and things were beginning to feel like hunger. I get to start the thicker liquid diet tomorrow, soft yogurt then Wednesday it's on to added protein and by Friday it's liquid but includes the creamy stuff. I feel my recovery is going really well, but I've been up and doing stuff since I got banded. We had a 4th of July party and I actually fixed food and set up for that. Sunday was a sleep and relax day. I didn't take all the pain meds because I really didn't need them. I am sore, very sore at the port site but that too is getting better as long as I don't touch it or the cat doesn't walk on me. I am hoping this tool is the one that finally works for me and with me. I am going to do everything I can to make it successful. I have a long way to go on changing my eating habits and that is going to be very hard. Someone mentioned eating bread with their broth and said it did bad things....what are the complications of doing that? I would like the details, my doctor didn't give me anything like the consequences--just the edict to not do it. I hope everyone recovers quickly and those of you that get the extra time off, really enjoy it. I wish I could. ee -
Possible TMI question about preop diet
Who'sThere posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Okay, so today is day 9 of my ten day preop diet. I have been on BC pills continuously (the active pills) for six months to keep me from having a period because I had one non stop from before Halloween to after Christmas. Today, I have had some spotting. Do y'all think this has anything at all to do with the preop diet, either the sudden calorie restriction or the diarrhea that comes along with the all liquids? (I know that when I am on my period, I tend to have diarrhea.) Or do you think it is just a coincedece? Has anyone experienced anything similar? -
I eat the orowheat buns all the time. 2/3rds of the calories of a regular bun! Yeah...I really am on odd bandster. I can eat the whole one with a burger. That is all I can eat though. nothign else to go with it. I had a horrible pb'ing incident yesterday and I have no idea why. I had halibut and red potaotoes for dinner and then about an hour later I felt like I was majorly stuck. I hadn't had anything between dinner and then. After agonizing in pain for an hour I decided to take a big gulp of water to either get it out or get it down. It decided to come out. TMI WARNING....It came up so violently (and with all the water) that it came out my nose. NOT FUN! Needless to say, I am on very soft foods today. The scales are being very kind to me after my birthday. I had to do a day of carb detox (pretty much only eat meat) for one day. Boy do I pee like crazy that day!!! BUt I am at my lowest weight in months. Phyl congrats on your knee surgery. I can't imagine the pain you must be in. My plastic surgery consult/year check up is on Monday. My principal said to schedule it whenever...and not to wait until Dec. if I didn't want to. However, I have to because I have 2 runs scheduled between now and then. So I am really hoping to squeeze my surgery in between December 15th and Christmas so that I don't have to miss too much work. I will go later on the surgery but I am NOT missing my half marathon in Dallas. I get to meet two fellow bandsters and I have been looking forward to it for months. Alright well I am off to lounge by the pool while going through AP chemistry study guides. I have decided that for the month of July that there is no differentiation between weekdays and weekends. I have one LONG week that ENDS at the end of the month! I will try and check back later.

Anyone Banded 6/29/09 I would love to talk to you.
sbackus replied to imaluckydog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Help! I have never done a chat room before so hope someone will talk back. My lapband was done on Monday on an out patient basis in Redwood City, CA. I still have a lot of pain at my waistline incission by belly button. It particularly hurts to reach or roll over. I still am taking 15cc of liguid vicodan every 6 hours, and I thought I was tough! No problem with the liquid foods--no nausua etc. I have a hard lump (size of egg) at waist to left of belly button (from my point of view) and also have not had a bm. I realize that all that has gone in is liquid, but shouldn't someting come out? Is this TMI? Does this format have spell check. Thank you--anyone who answers. Sally -
Embarrassed that I'm a newbie and venting..

Oh, Suzanne..I definitely know it's a tool. I needed to be forced to set my life straight Healthwise :biggrin0: I agree, at least those 3 pounds will be ones that STAY off..KWIM? And I found out today why I haven't lost. AF has started...albeit 2 mos late!!! Sorry if that's TMI. I wish I had the energy to exercise more right now. I did ride my bike about 2 miles one evening and I walked about 2 miles another evening, but when I was done I felt like I might pass out. My poor DH, he said exactly what you said about my body being in shock with calorie difference... -
Benefiber every day for me!! I take about six a day right before I go to bed. Still sometimes I don't go everyday. TMI i know I know.............if I drink hot tea or drink hot broth that helps alot too!! And if I take benefiber than drink something hot it solves the problem right away!! I indulged in rasberries tonight. don't know what the damage is but oh they are so good................

I have a major problem with constipation. I know since I eat less Fiber that is why I am like this. My main food is meat, then veggie and sometimes I eat fruits. Should I change my diet to be more on veggies and the Protein? I am supposed to have between 1/2-3/4 cups of food per meal. I normally eat 1 cup since I have no restriction. I normally eat only protein and little veggies because that is what the nutritionist told me. What about you guys? If you have to eat 1 cup of food, do you normally eat only protein or half and half with veggies? What do you do to help you go? Thanks, Alisa

When I asked my doctor that he said "Not here, please!" LOL And then explained anytime in which it was not painful to do so...TMI here perhaps, but I believe we waited about 1-1/2 weeks.

I had my surgery on Nov. 25, 2008 and have lost 30 pounds. The weight loss has been very slow but I'm trying to stay optimistic. Thought it would be nice to have someone to chat with who actually understands all the ups and downs of living with a band. I'm a teacher and out for summer right now. I'm one of those "eat when you get bored" kind of people. I've had 8 adjustments so far. I've had an annoying pain in my right side every since the surgery. It comes and goes. My doctor says that it couldn't be related in anyway to my band. It's not "female" related because I've already had all of that checked out. TMI! (too much information) Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had similiar aches and pains.

Yes, I scar very very easily As for keeping them out of the sun, well that shouldn't be a problem. Although DF and I do belong to a nudist group (sorry if TMI) and there is a party on the 4th, I don't intend to be barring all this time. And when I am out in the sun, I use an SPF of 45 ... don't laugh ... it's what I need ...

?How many ibs a week do u lose?
ALISIA replied to ALISIA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope so because my binging is just a brief impulse and i just stuff myself until i am full. me and food have a love hate thing. this is my second time losing 100s of pounds. the first time i developed bulimia and a diet pill problem. the only good thing about it is that a lot of the healthy eating habits from my smaller days never left me. i still dont like greasy stuff or white bread and most of he time i am good at controlling myself. but not when i am too happy or too low so my weight is always up and down. one week i eat too much the next i dont eat enough. i am bipolar with ptsd so i am all over the place and my wait has a big effect on my stability. that is what worries me about the surgery i hope i dont get too bored and stress out. i will feel much better when i know for sure the insurance will cover it, right now its at 95% sure. and i do have support in some sence but not really. i dropped most of my friends "i needed to their were no good" and i dont go anywhere"i am visualy impaired from albinism so i cant drive". my mom is supportive but she has no clue she was 95ibs after 2 kids then she had me and that changed. she has never had any addiction out side of work. she is such a goody goody.i have told too many people because it is seen as the easy way out and i dont want people to monitor everything i do. and that is my other worry will i be well enough for school in september? sorry for ranting i am the queen of TMI and i love to talk its the only thing that helps. thank you allfor helping -

7 Highly Effective Habits after WLS?
SpecialK replied to starchile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Okay, this might fall into the "TMI" category but here goes. Sliming - some of us describe having to spit out excess saliva because if we eat past our point of fullness, even our saliva has no room to go down and stay down when you swallow until your food begins passing from your upper stomach pouch to the rest of the stomach. This saliva like fluid doesn't have a vile odor or anything in my experience. 2. PB'ing - is the bringing up of food bits or chunks when your body is telling you that you ate past your point of fullness. The pressure sensation of being that full will cause you to want to expel some of the food to relieve the pressure. If you are careful to watch for the point to stop eating, you can avoid this in my experience 90% of the time. The other 10% is my own fault, ate one more bite to finish something off, etc. When I have brought that food back up to spit it out, it has not been down into my stomach where the acidic process has started to break down the food. So when you bring something up, it again doesn't have some terrible vile smell. I am one of those people in the past that smelling someone else who got sick could get me gagging too. So smell is a major factor here. Last, my worst experiences of either of the things above occurred when I thought that maybe taking some sips (tiny sips) of water might help the food go down better when I felt overfull. That was just the opposite - made it far worse to put liquid into the mix. If I am feeling alot of pressure, I usually just try to stay pretty quiet and calm and tough it out for 15 minutes. What I mean to say is I tried jumping up and walking around once when I was overfull to see if that would help jiggle the food to make it go down and that didn't help. -
Hey scalaholics, does this happen to you?
~Bridgette~ replied to KartMan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't do that with pee, but when I know I'm getting ready to poop, I hop on the scale and then go back to the scale afterwards.... I guess, one day I'm hoping for a 5lb dump or something... now that's TMI!! LOL -
Thanks Janet. I figure I will try to go up later next week. I have been gone for 2 weeks and only been home to head off to work at the nursery. I think the nursery is closed on the 4th. So if I head up on Thursday I can help get dad to the 4th of July parade. He has NEVER missed it. I think we have a plan. Figure we will get a lawn chair and find him a place in the shade, drop him off early, go park the truck, and that way he can sit and enjoy the parade. Well weighed today, am going to rejoice in the 1/2 pound loss, that's what I'm telling myself anyway. I exercised, and counted calories and it is 1/2 pound. Well I haven't had a good 'BM' since I was gone, so I'm hoping there is another 1/2 pound in that. I know TMI. Today's goal is to be VERY accurate in my measurements. I know that cottage cheese with fruit and nuts keeps me full, so I am going to go get lowfat or fat-free cottage cheese and measure accurately. Then I am getting deli turkey and lettuse leaves for lunch, probably ditch the cheese and increase the turkey slices, more fill for the calories. Tonight is BBQ steak and aspargus. Then somewhere in there, yard work and a walk. I'll take the 'babies', it will be good for them. With Elyse still not feeling well they haven't had a walk in a week. Janet, I agree with you about MJ. How could he not turn strange after not having a childhood. I liked him, but I will confess to being more of a ....wait for it....yep this is embarrasing...Donny Osmond fan. I even belonged to his fan club and can STILL remember his birthday. Oh, his song 'Puppy Love' would melt my teen heart. I also was a Mac Davis fan, sad but true. I went to 3 of his concerts. So that you know that I'm not a total geekoid, I also saw Three Dog Night and KISS. But I am a love song groupie. My own version of a knight in shinning armour.

First Menstrual cycle...Help
BillOh replied to davidsmom08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about the TMI, a lot of us have information we can share/ask about since we have a common experience, but that said, perhaps you haven't found the sub forum for women where you may get other answers. I didn't discover some of those sub forums till I'd been here several months. I just didn't scroll down far enough. -
Ok...so TMI I know but...I am just starting into my first menstrual cycle and I am feeling kinda funny. I was banded 6/19 and tomorrow is my first day of mushies (yeah). I'm feeling a little light headed and dizzy today...could this be that I am just really hungry or is this normal with your cycle after being banded.

I am afraid to eat, I can gain that 2 lbs. back just by looking at food! You are not the only one scared of Robin ya know, Tina :bored: Good I am glad they open at 8 . . . still I will need a decaf coffee! But at least I will have somewhere to relieve my bladder, it is a constant thing with me, TMI I have not been at all sore after either of my fills, what is THAT all about?? I kept a band-aid on there with some antibiotic ointment for a day 'cause I am subject to infection, but no soreness to speak of . . . . thats weird Hey did you hear Kaiser SSF is doing the sleeve now??
-
You're TOO funny! Can't believe you let them get away with playing games while you're taxed with fixing their dinner! What's up with that!!?? You're having too much fun... after N.O. cruise, we need to plan a trip to FRANCE!! EARL control what I spend on wine??? Are you kidding me?? What makes you think I am allowed to buy wine?? LOL!! I do occasionally get away with putting a bottle in HIS shopping cart, but not often! We usually buy TWO BUCK CHUCK, which is actually three bucks here in WA. Or else he buys BOXED wine! Not worth drinking, IMHO! But I lost control of the kitchen and the shopping a LONG time ago. Karri... 2 weeks would be good... doc prepared me that it might take 4-6 weeks for the Zoloft to kick in. Actually I am taking is a generic form... Sertraline. Saw pulmonary doc today.. have a repeat sleep study in two weeks. Thinks my CPAP undoubtedly needs to be re calibrated b/o weight loss. Very tight today... started when I ate lobster tail last night. I didn't cut it up in tiny bites like I did last week. So it felt like I was stuck.. all night. Had a tough time eating bf today & only ate 1/2 of my little baby omelet. Primetimers today and lunch was noodles w/tomato sauce and meatballs (Costco, I think). Then there was chef salad, fruit cocktail, ice cream and some kind of biscuit cake for desert. Paper divided plates.... filled up one of the small sections w/noodles-meatballs, put a little fruit cocktail in the other, and chef salad in the big part. Could only eat a couple of bites of salad... gave the rest to Earl, a few chunks of fruit, ate the noodles and meatballs. Took desert and picked at it a little...teeny little bites of ice cream and a few crumbs of cake, and then I pretty much bolted for the BR where I lost the ice cream and slimed a lot! TMI, huh?! Sorry! So, then we went to Costco but I didn't go in because I was afraid I might be really stupid and take a bite of some samples. After dr appt, I went straight to my scooter and went and got a latte. May be psychological, but drinking one always seems to settle my stomach and help things go down. It worked, but not right away.... took an hour or so. If it hadn't I wouldn't have been able to eat any dinner. We had spaghetti sauce w/gr. turkey over fr. style green beans. Small portion and I ate REAL slow. Went down okay, but I'm still hearing and feeling some gurgling! I know it would be a good idea to start journalling again but it seems like such a pain. But the pulmonologist has me on an abbreviated form... I have to fill out this chart for the next two weeks... there's a square for every hour of the day. I have to blacken in the squares when I'm sleeping, if I get up to BR... put a B in that square, M for meals, C for caffeine drinks, A for alcholol, S for snacks (not sex). Arrow down when I go to sleep, arrow up when I wake up. Sound like fun??? It IS a form of journalling, so maybe it'll get me back in the habit. For those who stuck with me through this, SORRY it's SO LONG!!

I told, and tell, everyone. The people I know love and support me. When I need to PB, I just get up and go to the bathroom. My PB's are not loud or violent. Just like what they are called - a productive burp. The food that I swallowed that won't go down... comes back up. Sometimes it takes a couple of times to get it all up, but then I spit, flush and go They are not fun... but they are no big deal for me. No one knows that I did anything except what other people do in the restroom. I do try to order things that I think will go down without problems... but as we know... sometimes our bands don't react the way we think they will. The only time I've had really unpleasant PB's were in the car... oh mercy... TMI!!!!!!!! Good luck to you. Becky
