    Low On Iron

I’m in Australia & I had face to face appointments every two weeks until I reached goal then monthly appointments. When Covid hit, we had phone calls for my next 2 scheduled appointments. By then I had sort of stabilised and we left it as I could ring her whenever I needed advice or support. I haven’t had to contact her since then.

    March 23 buddies yet?

I hear you. My surgery was 3/24. I was 199.7 lbs on surgery day. 2 weeks after, I was 188.9. That was my lowest. I've been at 190.3 for the past week, and it hasn't budged AT ALL. I've had no issues with getting my minimum 80g protein and 64 oz. water. I've been diligent about eating only every 3-4 hrs as instructed. My calories have never gone over 550 and I walk at about 2.5 mph for anywhere from 30 min - 1 hour 5 days a week. Taking multivitamin with iron, B-12, calcium, and stool softener daily. I want to stay off the scale, but in my head, I'm like how long will this last?!?! Does the 3 week stall typically happen around week 3 or does it typically last for 3 weeks? Just ready to see progress again. I wish I had answers for you, but you aren't alone! Hang in there!

    Scalp itchiness - side effect?

I had a little bit of itchiness at the beginning, and also had skin, not dandruff, peeling from my scalp, I put coconut oil or castor oil in my scalp once a week and that helped.
  4. I have the same concern. My surgery was on 2/8 and I am in my 9th week. My doctor has me at 400-600 calories, and at least 5 hours a week of exercise. I'm only losing 2 lbs a week. I'm fine with losing at a slower rate. My concern is whether I will continue to lose when my calories move up to 600-800 when I am at 6 months. But I just keep telling myself to trust in the process. I am better now than I was two months ago. I trust my doctor and nutritionist to give me the information to successfully lose this weight. My job is to keep to the plan they have given me.
  5. Sleeved Dec 05/22 323lbs pre surgery and now 195lbs and still losing hoping to hit goal of 178 by end of may and switch to maintenance. Currently attend aqua fitness 2/3 days a week and walk 6-10km daily. I have never felt so good at any other time in my life, best decision I’ve ever made.

    Weight Stall

They’re are a normal & important part of your weight loss. It’s the time your body uses to take stock of the stress you’re putting it through (weight loss, reduced calories, increased activity, etc.), where you are & what your new needs are at a lower weight & resets various hormones & your metabolism to support your lower weight, etc. Best thing to do is to stick to your plan & don’t stress your body more with more changes. The stall will break when your body is ready. Some people experience longer or more frequent stalls than others. It just depends on their body & needs.
  7. Stalls are an expected & important part of your weight loss. Some people just experience fir longer periods & more regularly. They occur in reaction to the stress you’re putting your body under (weight loss, reduced calorie intake, increased activity levels, etc.). During a stall your body takes stock of your new current situation & then readjust various hormones & your metabolism to meet your new needs. Stick to your plan. Don’t stress your body more (like by going back to the liquid diet). The stall will break when your body is ready.
  8. I don't think you can stretch it out this early. Some say you can't stretch it out, some do. Shrug. I'm 7 weeks out, and I don't weigh or measure. My Dr. and nutritionist just said to pay attention to when I'm full and stop. I can eat quite a lot of soft pureed type foods, like cottage cheese, soups, or pudding. Sounds like you are right on track and doing fine! I've lost 23 lbs since surgery. A typical breakfast for me is 2 scrambled eggs and 1/2 avocado. For lunch I had 1 slice of deli turkey, 1 baby bell cheese, 2 strawberries (YAY just got cleared for fresh!) and 4 snow peas from our garden. Dinner is some chicken and roasted sweet potatoes, snack was some Sugar free pudding, and I also fit in a protein shake. Last night was baked fish and roasted cauliflower. My calories have been about 1000, which my Dr. was fine with. I was told if I'm tired to eat more protein.

    Weight Stall

stalls are a normal part of weight loss. Most of us have our first one around the three week point (but it can happen at any time within the first six weeks or so). This is only your first among probably many. When you hit them, stay off the scale for a few days and make sure you're following your plan to a "T". If you do, the stall will eventually break and you'll be on your way again. Stalls typically last 1-3 weeks.

Lbs lost in 2 week pre-op phase?

Went on pre-op diet 3/23 for 2 weeks leading up to surgery. It was an all liquid diet with the exception of 1 egg/day and 1 cottage cheese/day (low fat). I lost 9 lbs. I had also lost about 15 lbs (in addition to the 9 lbs) from my first visit on 2/1 through 3/23. I was self-pay, but my surgeon didn’t blink at all about dropping “too low”. I think my BMI at surgery was around 33.

    Any April Surgery Dates?

To all of you on your pre-op diet, great job so far and hang in there. I was you 2 weeks ago (had my surgery on 4/6). It feels like forever now, while you are in it, but surgery will be here before you know it. The first few days are hard, but I’m now on day 8 and just finished a 3 mile walk, enjoying the warm night. Everything feels easier now, despite still being in the beginning of the healing stage. Good luck to you all.

    Weight Stall

Hi Guys, Just curious on how people may have handled a weight stall? I'm five and half weeks post op, down 11kgs since surgery and i've not moved on the scales in the past week. I have gone back to work (retail) and have moved onto the minced/slow cooked foods part of my diet so i'm hoping this maybe playing a part it's just playing on my mind a bit. Has anyone got any tips to help getting refocused at all
  13. Thank you so much. How much should I be losing by week 7? I lost 29.9 pounds so far since surgery
  14. Today is my six week mark— I have officially lost half of the weight i need to lose to get me to a healthier weight— 12 lbs pre op, the rest since surgery date of 3/3. I am really pleased with my progress so far, still focusing on fluids and protein, and trying to cut down to one protein shake a day vs two. Feeling good and enjoying shopping my closet and resisting buying anything new— goal is to get to 158 be end of April, and 148 by end of May. Fingers crossed the trend continues! Black tee is a day or two before surgery, white tee is today.
  15. I had my first bypass in November 2019. I did the dieting for 6 mos pre op and lost 50lb. Then I Lost another 18 during 2 week liquid diet. I started at 365. I assume everyone get lots of liquids pushed IV while at the hospital. When they weighed me after surgery I had gained 14 lbs. I’m freaking out going what did you do to me. Thank goodness my Doctor and nurses were great. Calmed me down quickly explaining why the gain. This week I had to have revision surgery as my pouch staples came undone. I didn’t lose near what I needed. Or thought I should of, but am reminding myself that it is a journey. I got a 2nd chance to finish what I started. Love yourself for being brave enough to take this step. I’m 250 now.
  16. Hi all, I am week 2 into my full liquid diet. I am feeling hungry almost every 1 or 1.5 hour. I can eat yogurt or drink a protein shake in 30-40 minutes, but sometimes still hungry. I’m averaging 72g of protein this week. I’m not sure if I’m having fathom hunger or I need to sip/eat more often. someone please help ease my mind.
  17. 3 weeks post op. I don't remember ever getting car sick before. Today I left right after eating and got sick waiting to pick up my grocery order and again at a red light on the way back. My car idles rough. Has this happened to anyone else and does it go away? I know, in the future wait a bit before getting in the car, but I have a long trip coming up in June and I'll be eating in the car or driving all night.
  18. Sleeved 01/06/2023 and as of today I'm 200 lbs even. I'm supppppper close to ONEderland! I eat between 800-1200 calories a day (usually about 1000 calories a day). I attend aqua aerobics 1x a week and try to walk at least 5 days a week. With a desk job, I have to make a conscious effort to move because I sit so much. Overall I feel great, I still deal with fatigue but I'm anemic so that's to be expected... and still less tired then I was pre-surgery. My post-op bloodwork all came back great (with the exception of my iron which has always been an issue). Type-2 diabetes in remission. 5'5 SW 265 LBS, CW 200 LBS, GW 150 LBS

    frustrated, stalled, and lost

I was stalled for a solid 2 months, I ate carbs for a weekend... then hit the gym hard and I am back on track. Its the worst when you feel like you are doing everything you can and you see no movement, but you will. Also, try doing band workouts from a chair, they are great and really work.
  20. hello - I have been stalled since 3/23. My dietician wants me to up my calories. I am currently getting between 800-100 and she wants me at 1200-1500 a day. I have no idea how to add in another 300+/- calories that are not junk food. I eat 5x a day, plus one shake. I keep my carbs under 75 a day (under 20 per meal), fat under 60 (under 10 per meal), and sugar less than 25 for whole day, and avoid unneeded sugar (eg, sugar in milk or yogurt okay, but not sugar in skittles) I also get well over 100 g of protien a day. I am not working out because I am having positional lightheadedness, where my vision whites out when I go from sitting to standing randomly. I am getting 80+ ounces of fluid a day. yesterdays food: pure protien bar protien shake greek yogurt tuna (bumble bee quick catch, had tuna and pasta) a fake sushi roll (avocado carrots butter lettuce crab meat and lobster chucks wrapped in a rice paper) grilled ribs without sauce + lima beans. todays meal plan: quest cheddar crisps protien shake yogurt legendary pop tart artisan traders 2 egg omlet cups ribs and lima beans my restriction is still super strong, and i can barely get half a cup in per meal/. 6 months out from surgery. bouncing between 184-188 since 3/23

    One Year Post Op

I'm 8 weeks out and I'm still not focused at all calories. Just protein and water. My program said nothing of counting calories
  22. I’m on second week of liquids only. Pre liquid diet I lost 15lbs with some changes my dietician said would be beneficial. But am down a total of 21 lbs in two months. My surgery is April 20th. Excited and nervous at the same time
  23. I had my surgery on 2/22/23 as well. I’m stuck at 29 lbs weight loss. I had a stall at 3 weeks and another stall at 6 weeks. It seems like I’m having stalls every 3 weeks. I’m starting to feel a little frustrated. I was considering trying to do the liquid diet for the next week to see what happens

    Any April Surgery Dates?

Same day, same feeling! Although I'm also stressed about this liquid diet and not losing enough weight pre-op - I need to step away from the scale, as it only shows 2 lbs lost in a week. I was hoping to lose 10 in pre-op stage.
