I think those are the best kinds of NSVs - the ones that sneak up on you, then jump out and yell "Surprise!"

Oh, and as a side note... I had to buy a dress for our prom which, is Thursday. I tried a UK14 on and I thought it looked ok... the sales assisstant came up to me and told me how lovely it looked, but it would look better if it was the right size! She brought back a 12 and it fitted like a glove! Another NSV for the books! If i get some good pics I will post them for you x

Well, I licked my wounds as I said I would over the weekend - I didn't not turn to food though..lol Today was a fast day and it went really well... and I managed to get lots of Water in which, is a bonus. I've lost 4 of the 6 pounds and I am hoping to see the other two go really soon... I feel a lot more in control today and I have to say that the fast day was easy today! I also went to Curves and kicked butt! What I am starting to realise, and it has taken me this long, is that on the feed days, I still have to be vigilant and aware of what I am eating... I might go back to tracking in a week or so if I don't see movement on the scales. Here's a NSV for you... at the moment we are having a lot of hot weather - 28+ degrees... very unusual! Anyway, I was sat in my garden yesterday soaking up the rays, and I realised that I wasn't sweating like a fool... this time 3 years ago I would of been a hot mess of sweat and blubber! Then today, in the same heat we had sports day in school... we had to walk the pupils to the field -about 20 mins - and guess what... no sweat! I sat and watched the field events - no sweat. I walked back to school - no sweat! OMG! It felt so good to be in the heat without melting like a chocolate fireguard.. result! Hope everyone else is feeling better!

So I was waking out of the gym this morning and I'm looking down at my ankles and thinking about how different they look and how is hard to believe they are my ankles when it hits me I Can See my ankles I can't remember the last time I could see them from a standing position.

Surgery is August 8th for me! Some NSV I'm looking forward to in the future..... Being able to cross my legs again, and sit like a lady!! Have my husband put his arms around me and not feel awful about him feeling all my fat rolls! Going to my daughters practices and not being the largest person there!! Having my daughters hug me and being able to for their arms around mommy! Being able to buy clothes in the regular size dept! (I love Targets cute clothes, and I look forward to the day I don't have to shop in their 4'x4' plus size section) I could go on and on........ Have a wonderful day! Kim -
All of my December sleevers...
Oliver's Mom replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My husband was on vacation last week (I'm retired.) We had a friend here visiting from Indiana. We ate out every night, breakfast out at least 3 times too. We went to a Red sox game, partook of all of the July 4th celebrations in town. Weather was in the 90's the whole time. My NSV's - no weight gain at all! I know that I did not exercise as much as I have been. - being able to comfortably walk around town for all the festivities - being comfortable in the seats at Fenway - room to spare actually!! - having so much energy that folks were trying to keep up with me this year!! I made sure I got in all of my water - averaged about 90+oz a day. Continued to track on MFP, only 2 days I went over my 1200-by less than 60 calories. I feel like this was a good test for me - I know I can do this for life. I must say these last 11 pounds are stubborn, losing just oz at a time. But it will happen, for all of us December Sleevers!! -
Congratulations! I hadn't thought about it, but that is one of my NSVs as well. Besides my wedding ring, I have a diamond ring that my mother left me. I would really like to be able to wear that one again. As that one is larger than my wedding band, I'll shoot for that one first. Congratulations again. Nice to be reminded that it is not just about the scale.

I started my journey back in January and lost 45 lbs pre op. I have lost 16lbs at 2 weeks post op and for the first time in 7 years I wore my wedding ring!!!! I was so happy that it fit again. I am looking forward to it getting too big!

Ok I'm back on the wagon... I mean treadmill! Just finished week 1 day 3 AGAIN It was mentally hard starting back up again, but it went pretty good! Oh and a funny NSV my slim 17 year old mouthy daughter walked in as I was running and sat down and stared at me. I look over at her and gave her a friendly hand gesture (just joking ok not really) She says "what?" Then she says "you look really good" !!! What the what??? From the same girl that just last week as we were out pointed out my sleeveless arms and asked "are you going to have surgery on those?" 0_o She said I looked good, and I looked good running!

Protein bars- helpful or harmful?
ProudGrammy replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Reigo i used to think, "if i'm gonn eat too much of something - a Protein Bar sounds ok' full of protein right??? true, its full of protein, and if i could have one on a certain day and stop, it would be ok but i can't stop at just one!!!! i do get hooked i'm still working on it at my request 6'2 DH puts bars way up high where i can't reach them, then he'll give me one when i ask the other mid-day, i actually pulled a chair to the pantry and stood up on a chair to get the bar!!!!! NSV - i was always afraid to get up on a chair - if i fell with allllll this weight unfortunately this is not an NSV i want to repeat as OP have said - protein bars are like candy/crack do they have a special protein bar rehab place?? maybe they should - lots of us would join and get to meet other addicts kathy -
200lbs from goal / body issues
deedeemuffin replied to makemyownluck's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can very much relate to your struggle. I started with around 240 pounds to lose. Although I finally lost slightly more than 100 pounds I still regularly feel like I am so gross. I hate myself for letting my body get to that point. I struggle with the fact that I am already seeing significant loose skin. I feel like my body is just "deflating". The weight is coming from all the good parts first...butt, boobs, etc., but sticking to my belly & face. I feel like even when I'm at a healthy weight that I'm going to look just as gross, if not worse, with a tone of hanging skin. I don't say all this to discourage you, but to let you know that there are other people sharing in your struggle. This weight loss journey can be very emotional. The sleeve allows us to start taking off weight that we couldn't in the past. Some of us (I definitely mean me) used to use food as a coping mechanism. Now that we can't use food, our personal or emotional issues that we had pushed to the back burner start to boil over. I know that there is therapy, support groups & my surgeon's office has a psychiatrist on staff to help deal with patients post-op just as much as pre-op. They recognize that this is psychologically demanding & draining. I also have not taken advantage of these opportunities. I think about going to get some help often, but am too nervous. So, there are a couple things people in our situation can do. One is Celebrate any victory you can. 80+ pounds is awesome! The fact that you are continuing to do what you can to take care of yourself is wonderful. Realize that this is not a race. We will get to our goal in our own time. Some people fly right through other people (me again) slowly inch our way there. Let's try to keep on working towards what we know is ultimately better for us & stop beating ourselves up & nit picking at our perceived imperfections. Also, try to focus on some NSV. That can be key when we have so much to lose. Some for me have been fitting in a restaurant booth again, my car steering wheel doesn't dig into my stomach anymore, etc. Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts & feelings. I also have been struggling, but have been trying to put on my happy face. Your post has given me courage to share on the board here which I will do today. In the meantime hang in there sleeve sister! -
Today I measured myself for the first time since surgery. It has been 4 weeks and I have lost 30 pounds, but the measurements shocked me!!! I had lost 4 inches in my waist, 3 inches from my chest, an inch from each ankle, 2 inches from each thigh, and 2 inches from each knee. I was worried I wasn't losing fast enough but then I see 17 inches gone from my body and I know that I am going the right way. Today I went to the gym and kind of over did it, but feel the urge to push myself. I know I am still healing and was reminded of this today, especially when I was trying to do triceps exercises laying down on a bench and felt the incision and stomach muscle pull. Ouchh!!! Just gotta go slow. I am so excited to feel great again and have energy. I am happy to hear so many people that I can relate to on this site. I wish everyone the best on their surgeries. This surgery is definitely worth it!!!

How about some NSVs!?!?
PittGuy replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is by far my favorite thread here at this forum. Every pre-op member should read through every post. It is a great motivation while going through the whole process. Keep sharing everyone.... on July 23 I will be one step closer to sharing my own NSVs. -

Congratulations and best wishes on your journey. The journey may not be easy and there may be times that you want to give up then remember this feeling of going under 300. Do not forget to celebrate every NSV no matter how small it is my personal favorite is walking down the aisle of an airplane without turning sideways and getting to my seat and not having to ask for an extender. -
Chivon32 it sure is amazing its obvious you are following all the "rules" wi/water, food et al good for you!!!! life becomes more and more amazing with our successes/NSV's great having those "up" feelings, while your weight goes down!!!! i think you are AMAZING keep doing what you are doing continued good luck kathy

I did not expect this. in learning to eat differently for my post sleeve life, i have evidently decreased my intake even more than i expected and have lost some weight. big deal, everyone here can lose weight, however today when i went hiking in the wilds of northern minnesota my gymn shorts kept slipping down. WTF? I have not had that happen to me in years and i was much lighter then. Perhaps the elastic has worn down, but it felt good anyway. I am heading to my surgery with a full head of steam, aiming to make the most of it right from the start. ten days to go. My daughter is getting married tomorrow and there are all sorts of people here, family people. the same ones that I tend to eat over. but so far i still have little interest in food. very strange, very welcome. We fly back on Sunday and i can get into the security of my routine until surgery. I have told a few chosen people and they have all been highly supportive. perhaps I need to expand my inclusion list.
