    I need a hug

It helps me to remember how much I weighed this time last year and what NSVs I have had even only 9 weeks after surgery. Then, imagine how I will feel the same time next year! If it gets slow, I just tell myself it's giving my skin time to adapt and hopefully shrink. Also, maybe it will hinder the inevitable hair loss... ? At least, that's what I tell myself~ Chin up!

    I hate skinny Beotchs

Ladies, I get where you all are coming from, I am very new to this site. I've been stalking it for a couple of weeks, and just officially joined today... I too get annoyed when someone who weighs 120lbs complains to me about getting fat. It almost feels like they are trying to say hey I think I'm fat and I'm nowhere near YOUR size. But, that's a personal issue I'm sure. It's all about perspective I guess... But, dang it, I just can't wait til I can cross my legs and have an ACTUAL lap for my grandkids to sit in! To feel good in my own body for the first time in my adult life! I'm looking forward to all of those NSVs I keep hearing about, in some ways even more than the actual weight loss! I love this forum and look forward to getting to know you all.

    3 Mon Check-up & @ Goal Weight

Had my 3 Mon Post Op Check up today and weighed in at 165 lbs. Dr said that I was way ahead of where I should be and if I continue burning calories at this rate I'll end up ay 120 at my 1 year check up. Of course I burst out .... "Oh hell naw, that's too too small". She agreed with me and moved be all the way to the last stage of the game. Added bread, Pasta, grains, tri tip.. pretty much no restrictions just not alcohol, sodas and unhealthy foods. She wants me to take my 1000+ calorie burn all the way down. Absolutely no more cardio... Only body building/sculpting. Focus all on muscle building. She also wants me to increase my calories from 700 to 1200 and try and eat until I feel stuffed. I was like... "Lady you don't have to tell an Ex fat person that twice... Don't mind if I do pig out." LOL Blood test were awesome... Just need to increase me Iron during my monthly cycle since um flowing pretty heavy now. So yes... This was a MAJOR NSV for me. My entire life I've had to watch everything I eat and feel and look fat. Now... I officially feel like a skinny person not having to worry about cardio, low cal diet and my clothes not fitting. Kinda excited about the body building process... Yahoo for me!

    Fabulous February Post-Op's

I struggle with what I see in the mirror a lot. Some days I feel huge, other days I pat myself on the back. It's very tricky, isn't it? To me, it's clear that you have lost a TON of weight. You are also very curvy. It may be a case of your eyes being drawn to some parts of your body and not others... Or looking at yourself in a vanity mirror versus a full-length one. My eyes never see the same "me" twice. The funny thing is that when I was 50 pounds heavier, I played the same games with myself. In the mirror I saw reasonably passable me some days, and "hippo" on other days. I just don't know what to make of it any more! You and I are the same size and wearing the same size pants, but I'm not nearly as curvy as you, so my butt looks flatter and my waist thicker. A few inches of height can make a huge difference as well, or where you carry your weight. Focus on the positive changes you see in your life. Check out this post: http://www.rnytalk.com/topic/9953-how-about-some-nsvs/ It keeps me motivated by not just looking at the numbers on the scales. And hang in there! We're all here with you!

    Awesome NSV

    So great! Love this NSV!
  6. I was out mowing the lawn on Monday. Today I had to ask a neighbor to come over and jump start my car. He asked me " why was your daughter mowing your lawn yesterday?" My daughter is 39yo..... I love my neighbor!!!!
  7. I just got home from the gym. I was so bored from all the things I was doing and I needed to learn new things. I have hired trainers before at this gym, but none of them were as good as this guy. I got a big NSV from him today. He said that I was doing my weight training like a 20 year old, and that I'm way farther ahead than he expected. I've been feeling so bad because I don't get to the gym as much as I used to. I was glad to hear him say that cause I feel like such a slug. I am really glad I found you guys. I wouldn't have known about the 5:2 diet and I think it's going to keep me on track this week.

    Stubborn, stubborn brain!!!

Why, oh why - please tell me...Why am I in the most danger when I've had a victory??? So we all know that exercise is the bane of my existence. But I've managed to work out at least 3 days a week for a month now. So this week, I'm bumping it up to 5 days a week. Grrrr. So I haul it out of bed this morning with the intention of doing something different at the gym. Everyone says you shouldn't get stuck doing one exercise routine - you should mix it up. I was therefore going to do a bike instead of the elliptical and weights. Started out fine - but the seat KILLED my butt (and not in the good 'oh I'm feeling the burn' way - more like the 'OMG I'm being sawed in half' way) !!! So I switched to one of the bikes where you are more seated with your legs horizontal instead of vertical. Didn't like that either because everytime I pedaled, I smooshed my stomach (which is still considerable) into my boobs, which are even more considerable. All of this and I only burned half the calories I burn on the elliptical. Had to leave the gym earlier than usual because I had an early morning at work. Managed to actually eat a good, protein breakfast and get to the stupid meeting on time (HUGE for me). Only to find out the meeting was canceled!!! However, we were having a drug rep coming later - with breakfast! So now - I've already eaten and they bring in tons of food (breakfast pastries, naturally) to leave in the break room, 3 steps from my office. Before vacation, about a month ago, I bought a new linen outfit. Fit perfectly. I haven't gotten around to wearing it until today because it's linen and requires ironing - which I only do about once a year. So I put it on - pants are too big!! :-) YAY me! I've mentioned that I was getting pissy because the scale wasn't moving, which usually triggers a binge for me. So I'm not allowed to get on the scale until the end of the month. The idea is to get used to doing the healthy thing because it's healthy, rather than being motivated by a number on the scale. So having a NSV like my brand new outfit being too big already is big for me! SO - someone please tell me WHY I'm seriously in danger of having a really, really bad - out of control eating - kind of a day! Why must everything trigger a binge for me??? If doing the right thing and not having a payoff makes me want to eat - why does doing the right thing and having a payoff make me want to eat?!?! Getting up for an extra workout - victory Healthy, protein breakfast - victory On time for early meeting - victory New clothes too big - victory I just have that unbelievable urge to eat everything I can find. I am my own worst enemy! Ready to turn around, go home, and climb in bed to hide until it's over!!! Shelly

smaller clothes are a real nsv... I love to see these posts... you are doing great. keep it up.. cross fit training is awesome.. wish my old knees would allow me to do it.. I have to stick with my treadmill for now...
  12. After getting rid of all the clothes that are too big, doing laundry, and hanging up my new shirts, it sure feels GREAT for them to actually stay on the hanger! My "fat shirts" always would slip off! So, yay! Second, I started CrossFit today! I did it for almost one month last October (when I was 60 lbs heavier) and it was an awful experience. Not the actual workout or CF itself, but ME... I was miserable! Today was far different and I felt SO good when I left there. I can't wait to go back on Wednesday morning! Let the weight loss continue and the toning begin! What are some of your latest NSVs?

    NSV realization

I think those are the best kinds of NSVs - the ones that sneak up on you, then jump out and yell "Surprise!"
  14. Oh, and as a side note... I had to buy a dress for our prom which, is Thursday. I tried a UK14 on and I thought it looked ok... the sales assisstant came up to me and told me how lovely it looked, but it would look better if it was the right size! She brought back a 12 and it fitted like a glove! Another NSV for the books! If i get some good pics I will post them for you x
  15. Well, I licked my wounds as I said I would over the weekend - I didn't not turn to food though..lol Today was a fast day and it went really well... and I managed to get lots of Water in which, is a bonus. I've lost 4 of the 6 pounds and I am hoping to see the other two go really soon... I feel a lot more in control today and I have to say that the fast day was easy today! I also went to Curves and kicked butt! What I am starting to realise, and it has taken me this long, is that on the feed days, I still have to be vigilant and aware of what I am eating... I might go back to tracking in a week or so if I don't see movement on the scales. Here's a NSV for you... at the moment we are having a lot of hot weather - 28+ degrees... very unusual! Anyway, I was sat in my garden yesterday soaking up the rays, and I realised that I wasn't sweating like a fool... this time 3 years ago I would of been a hot mess of sweat and blubber! Then today, in the same heat we had sports day in school... we had to walk the pupils to the field -about 20 mins - and guess what... no sweat! I sat and watched the field events - no sweat. I walked back to school - no sweat! OMG! It felt so good to be in the heat without melting like a chocolate fireguard.. result! Hope everyone else is feeling better!
  16. So I was waking out of the gym this morning and I'm looking down at my ankles and thinking about how different they look and how is hard to believe they are my ankles when it hits me I Can See my ankles I can't remember the last time I could see them from a standing position.
  17. I went to the dr today, and while waiting in the exam room I was sitting in the chair, and I kept feeling something in the chair pad, It was such a strange feeling, I got up twice to too look at the pad, irritated nothing there..hmph. Then I sat back down and it hit me....hellooo but/hip bones...Haven't felt you for so long, I forgot you were in there

    All of my December sleevers...

My husband was on vacation last week (I'm retired.) We had a friend here visiting from Indiana. We ate out every night, breakfast out at least 3 times too. We went to a Red sox game, partook of all of the July 4th celebrations in town. Weather was in the 90's the whole time. My NSV's - no weight gain at all! I know that I did not exercise as much as I have been. - being able to comfortably walk around town for all the festivities - being comfortable in the seats at Fenway - room to spare actually!! - having so much energy that folks were trying to keep up with me this year!! I made sure I got in all of my water - averaged about 90+oz a day. Continued to track on MFP, only 2 days I went over my 1200-by less than 60 calories. I feel like this was a good test for me - I know I can do this for life. I must say these last 11 pounds are stubborn, losing just oz at a time. But it will happen, for all of us December Sleevers!!

    First NSV @ 2weeks PO

Congratulations! I hadn't thought about it, but that is one of my NSVs as well. Besides my wedding ring, I have a diamond ring that my mother left me. I would really like to be able to wear that one again. As that one is larger than my wedding band, I'll shoot for that one first. Congratulations again. Nice to be reminded that it is not just about the scale.
  23. I started my journey back in January and lost 45 lbs pre op. I have lost 16lbs at 2 weeks post op and for the first time in 7 years I wore my wedding ring!!!! I was so happy that it fit again. I am looking forward to it getting too big!
