That's a GREAT NSV!!! -
Was hanging out with my (skinny) friend, looking in shops and whatnot. Ended up in Target with which I have a love/hate relationship. Their prices can be great but their sizing sucks. So, a short sleeved cardigan caught my eye. I handed my purse to my friend and said "I'm going to try this on but I know it won't fit." after all, it was a Large and I barely fit in XXL in that store. Well, imagine my shock when it slipped right on and fit comfortably even with my shirt underneath. Goes to show that when you aren't feeling like you're doing so great, you can be presently surprised!

Out of all my NSV in the past three years, two stand out. Having a collarbone appear out of nowhere, I guess it is mine, I've claimed it!! Then a few months later, I was at the GAP trying on jeans and I slipped into a size 4 for the first time in my LIFE!!! Never in my wildest dreams!!! -

It's not a goal, but it was certainly a NSV. I'm 14 days post op. I'm supposed to start purées tomorrow. Today's my daughter's 10th birthday. She chose to go to PF Chang's. All I ate was the egg drop soup. She has celiac disease, so any cake needs to be gluten free and generally, therefore, homemade. She chose my and her favorite cake - devil's good cake with fresh whipped cream, strawberries, and bananas. I didn't even taste the whipped cream! -

Hi rw, I'm 54 years old, overweight all my life, 15 months out and 15 pounds from goal and I love your NSVs! Some things that I've achieved and feel great about: --no more seat belt extender on planes --regular size clothing and lingerie --tall boots that are not wide calf --belts, and tucking things in --body conscious clothes --swimsuits without shame --joining a gym --hiring a trainer --cute workout wear --trying Zumba, BodyPump, Couch to 5K, circuit training, all with success --being the normal sized friend in a group of two or three women --getting active with my kids --choosing something active vs. sedentary when I have the chance --being a great example to my 13 year old --being an inspiration for 2 of my coworkers and my BFF to pursue VSG --getting lifted over my Navy midshipman's head! --lighting up my husband's eyes again --theme parks--not so much, but if I wanted to, I could! My best advice to all is Carpe Diem; lose as much as you can in the first six months, because it does start to feel like work. I don't regret one moment, though! -

It wasn't a goal, more like an accident: yesterday I pulled off my riding boots without unzipping them! (I forgot I was wearing the ones with zippers.) These are boots that used to be so tight the zippers kept splitting. Now they are way too big and I'm going to have to get them cut down! Another NSV - I wore white pants in public! -
Met some friends at the beach today, complimented me on my weight loss....Thank You very Much.... Then they started mentioning what other people are saying about my weight loss...all positive mind you....nothing negative...keep up the good work. However, they said that one very nice woman we know, whenever my name comes up, will say....."Oh yea, Bob....he's just a shadow of the man he used to be" She also happens to be a Trainer at the gym I belong to.... At first I smiled, picturing her saying that....then it hit me...WHAT? THIS is what I'm SUPPOSED to be! THIS is NOT a Shadow! What I USED to be was NOT ME!! THAT was someone else! Everyone laughed, said No! What she really means is you're only 1/2 the man you used to be! Wait...that didn't sound right either.... Actually I do get it...just a good day at the beach with friends having a few beers and lots of laughs (at my expense) ....

I had to come share my new NSV moment with you all because my husband doesn't get it. I have hit a bump in the road after tearing my meniscus and possible ACL in June. I am scheduled for an arthroscopy next month. My workouts have been cut WAY back to a recumbent bike only and I am only able to tolerate 20 minutes. I have been maintaining my weight loss but have not lost anything since April. Today I went to WalMart looking for some shorts that fit and was able to fit into misses 18 shorts and get them buttoned!! Along with the shorts I was able to buy 2 sundresses in an XL which I don't think I have worn in over 12 years. After feeling down the past couple of weeks this was a much needed pick-me-up. Thanks for letting me share. Doing the happy dance right now.

ProudGrammy replied to notmeanymore's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Bunny great NSV many times over the years, i didn't want to be recognized or noticed now - we want people to take note of our new 'hot appearence' when people don't immediately recognize the "new" you, thats ok too! when they finally realize who you are, make sure you have smelling salt around if they faint in shock congrats girlfriend on eventually being recognized keep up the good job/work kathy -
compliment Biggest NSV for me so far
notmeanymore posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
About once a week or every two weeks I have lunch with my mom. We also spend lots of time shopping on the weekends together so its not like she hasnt seen in eons or anything. Anyway, she picks me up for lunch at my work this week and it was such a nice day that I decided to wait outside for her. I saw her pull up in front and I started walking towards the car. I get in the car and she goes "ok, I was like "who is this girl walking towards my car"" She didnt even recognize me at first. Her own daughter who she sees all the time. What a compliment! -
I've had a good couple of days... prom went well! The kids looked amazing and all behaved perfectly. I was nervous about wearing my new dress but glad I did. I received a few nice comments. Last night in the 'big smoke' was a good laugh. I drank plenty of cider and danced for hours... NSV - didn't get food on the way home, even though my friends were chomping on kebab, chips and curry sauce! Even though I was drunk it just looked like poison! Normally, I would of had a portion - BOOM! Having a very, hangover free, day - been sunbathing in the garden all day - even got my tankini on! Whoop! That is a first in my whole life! Never worn a swim suit in my garden before... feeling a little more confident perhaps? Either way, nice to relax with my family. The kids found an old paddling pool from when they were younger - they blew it up and they have been sitting in it all afternoon....love it! Drinking plenty of Water today too - 165 on the scales this morning, so a pound up which I expected... back being mindful now until Monday when I fast again. I have started reading the 5:2 book and it is really interesting. Oh, Hubby has lost 34lbs now since the beginning of the year following the primal principles - he is really happy and the lightest he has been for about 10 years! All winning here today! Here is my dress...

LapBand acronyms (WLS/PB/NVS)
lisacaron replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me the best NSV so far was getting on the bike at the gym and being able to peddle without my legs hitting my belly up into my bust and knocking me off! It probably looked about as funny as it sounds, but it wasn't a whole of fun for me! Not having it happen was a great NSV for me and I stayed on for 20 whole minutes! -

NSV= Non Scale Victory, like when pants that didn't fit 2 weeks ago suddenly fit, or being able to climb stairs that you couldn't climb before, basically anything that is a success towards a healthy fit body, NOT just a # moving down on the scale. PB = Productive Burping, sometimes needed when food gets a little stuck, and a good burp clears it out. Hope this clears up the confusion, whats your best NSV so far, or what do you hope for one to be ? My 1st one was when I was 2 months banded, I ran into an old acquaintance who said "Have you lost weight ? You look thinner in the face !" ( I was down 17 lbs then ) Oh boy ! that made my day !!!! Good luck ! -

I believe you mean NSV which means Non Scale Victory. Example: Scale has not moved in weeks but my pants feel so much looser. -
I was banded on 4/19 and went today for my checkup with my primary care doctor. Before surgery, my A1C was down to 6.5 with diabetic medicines. Today, my A1C was 6.0!!!! Woo hoo! Able to go from 3 pills a day to 2....the doctor stated I will probably be off all meds in a few months! Two years ago, my A1C was over 8. I'm so excited...I wanted the lapband for mainly health reasons with the weight loss as a bonus. Can't wait for the future!!!!

NSV = Non scale Victories. It's amazing to appreciate the "little" things that aren't focused on numbers. I jokingly call them side effects of weight loss
-
Dazzling that's amazing !!! I can't wait until i have what's called these "nsv" moments! Can someone please explain what that stands for ?
