    I Am So Happy!

    NSV's are great!
  4. I had to come share my new NSV moment with you all because my husband doesn't get it. I have hit a bump in the road after tearing my meniscus and possible ACL in June. I am scheduled for an arthroscopy next month. My workouts have been cut WAY back to a recumbent bike only and I am only able to tolerate 20 minutes. I have been maintaining my weight loss but have not lost anything since April. Today I went to WalMart looking for some shorts that fit and was able to fit into misses 18 shorts and get them buttoned!! Along with the shorts I was able to buy 2 sundresses in an XL which I don't think I have worn in over 12 years. After feeling down the past couple of weeks this was a much needed pick-me-up. Thanks for letting me share. Doing the happy dance right now.

Biggest NSV for me so far

Bunny great NSV many times over the years, i didn't want to be recognized or noticed now - we want people to take note of our new 'hot appearence' when people don't immediately recognize the "new" you, thats ok too! when they finally realize who you are, make sure you have smelling salt around if they faint in shock congrats girlfriend on eventually being recognized keep up the good job/work kathy
  9. About once a week or every two weeks I have lunch with my mom. We also spend lots of time shopping on the weekends together so its not like she hasnt seen in eons or anything. Anyway, she picks me up for lunch at my work this week and it was such a nice day that I decided to wait outside for her. I saw her pull up in front and I started walking towards the car. I get in the car and she goes "ok, I was like "who is this girl walking towards my car"" She didnt even recognize me at first. Her own daughter who she sees all the time. What a compliment!
  10. I've had a good couple of days... prom went well! The kids looked amazing and all behaved perfectly. I was nervous about wearing my new dress but glad I did. I received a few nice comments. Last night in the 'big smoke' was a good laugh. I drank plenty of cider and danced for hours... NSV - didn't get food on the way home, even though my friends were chomping on kebab, chips and curry sauce! Even though I was drunk it just looked like poison! Normally, I would of had a portion - BOOM! Having a very, hangover free, day - been sunbathing in the garden all day - even got my tankini on! Whoop! That is a first in my whole life! Never worn a swim suit in my garden before... feeling a little more confident perhaps? Either way, nice to relax with my family. The kids found an old paddling pool from when they were younger - they blew it up and they have been sitting in it all afternoon....love it! Drinking plenty of Water today too - 165 on the scales this morning, so a pound up which I expected... back being mindful now until Monday when I fast again. I have started reading the 5:2 book and it is really interesting. Oh, Hubby has lost 34lbs now since the beginning of the year following the primal principles - he is really happy and the lightest he has been for about 10 years! All winning here today! Here is my dress...

    LapBand acronyms (WLS/PB/NVS)

For me the best NSV so far was getting on the bike at the gym and being able to peddle without my legs hitting my belly up into my bust and knocking me off! It probably looked about as funny as it sounds, but it wasn't a whole of fun for me! Not having it happen was a great NSV for me and I stayed on for 20 whole minutes!

    LapBand acronyms (WLS/PB/NVS)

NSV= Non Scale Victory, like when pants that didn't fit 2 weeks ago suddenly fit, or being able to climb stairs that you couldn't climb before, basically anything that is a success towards a healthy fit body, NOT just a # moving down on the scale. PB = Productive Burping, sometimes needed when food gets a little stuck, and a good burp clears it out. Hope this clears up the confusion, whats your best NSV so far, or what do you hope for one to be ? My 1st one was when I was 2 months banded, I ran into an old acquaintance who said "Have you lost weight ? You look thinner in the face !" ( I was down 17 lbs then ) Oh boy ! that made my day !!!! Good luck !
  13. I believe you mean NSV which means Non Scale Victory. Example: Scale has not moved in weeks but my pants feel so much looser.
  14. I was banded on 4/19 and went today for my checkup with my primary care doctor. Before surgery, my A1C was down to 6.5 with diabetic medicines. Today, my A1C was 6.0!!!! Woo hoo! Able to go from 3 pills a day to 2....the doctor stated I will probably be off all meds in a few months! Two years ago, my A1C was over 8. I'm so excited...I wanted the lapband for mainly health reasons with the weight loss as a bonus. Can't wait for the future!!!!

    HUUUUUGE NSV!!!!!

NSV = Non scale Victories. It's amazing to appreciate the "little" things that aren't focused on numbers. I jokingly call them side effects of weight loss
  16. skinnyboundsky

    HUUUUUGE NSV!!!!!

Dazzling that's amazing !!! I can't wait until i have what's called these "nsv" moments! Can someone please explain what that stands for ?
  17. ProudGrammy

My peak and pit for today

jensjoy28 i think your "yah" moment out WEIGHS LOL your ugh moment!!! closing your seatbelt easily, room to spare, able to put side arm rest down!!!! this is one NSV that many many can relate to as far as getting nauseous after drinking - like you said 'live and learn'?? 9 weeks and 42 lbs later.............. keep up the good job/work kathy congrats
  18. Marie!! YOU ARE A ROCK STAR!! So so so awesome, Lady! We are ALL proud of you - certainly almost as much as you are of yourself, and as your family is!! That is just amazing, and SO INSPIRING! Keep up the hard work...clearly its paying BIG dividends for you! As for me...I had that "withdrawal" adjustment a few weeks ago, and boy can I tell. Its eased up my eating issues, but now I fear I am over-doing it, and the scale is up a couple pounds! EEK!!! I've had a TERRIBLE craving (and have given in!) to those "sugar wafer" cookies...Yesterday I ate AN ENTIRE PACKAGE!! Today, I walked right past then in the store...and there are no more in the house! I am not really eating well, generally, so I've excused this behavior...but I'm getting a grip!! My anniversary will be the 31st..I was hoping to be down 50 - but I'm going to be lucky to get in for my surgeon visit and have held steady at 44...I will have an "esophagram" where they will watch to see how things move thru the stoma and whether the band is still where it belongs. I was "iffy" on that one when I was having so many problems...but since he removed a smidge of Fluid, and I am eating fine now, THANKFULLY it would seem all is well...except for MY CHOICES. I do notice lots of NSVs..my rings roll around my finger and are close to being down-right too big (not there

    my biggest nsv

Awesome I am heading to an amusement park this year to ride rides with my son for the first time. Great NSV.
  21. fattie

    my biggest nsv

That is a great NSV! These are better than looking at the scale and wo.dering if it will move today or not.
  22. One of the things that really pushed me to have surgery was the embarrassment that I felt last summer not being able to ride rides at the amusement park and having to get off of rides because I didn't fit. This all happened in front of friends of ours too. We are on our way home from the amusement park now and I fit on every ride! Even the kiddie roller coaster that I have never been able to fit on! So excited it feels so good!

    PCOS

I was first diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 18 years old, this was around 1992. At that time, little was known about PCOS. I was basically prescribed birth control pills to regulate my periods. I think I was probably around 200 lbs then. I actually participated in a clinical trial at a research hospital where they were researching the use of metformin to treat PCOS (yes, it's been a while:/). Gradually, the weight gain, painful acne, facial hair, diabetes, high cholesterol, high triglycerides snowballed. All that became complicated by clinical depression. By the time I was 30, I weighed more than 300 lbs. I could not understand why I continually failed at weight loss attempts. I had graduated colleges with honors, earned a Masters Degree, and excelled in my career....I knew I was not lazy nor ignorant, but I could not succeed with weight loss no matter how hard I tried. The depression spiraled out of control and I generally stopped caring about my health, defeated. At 32 years old, I topped the scales at 333lbs. Then I began having long, heavy periods which was my body screaming that something was wrong...endometrial cancer. In 2006 I had a complete hysterectomy at age 32. Single, no children, devastated. Then came medical menopause. I eventually began to feel better and was able to lose down to about 265 on my own with diet and exercise, but it was a hard, hard struggle. From 2008 until 2012 I bounced around on the scale from 265 to 280 or so. My diabetes was out of control, cholesterol very high. I had lap band surgery in March, 2013 weighing 258. Today I weigh 222. My recent lab work revealed excellent control of the diabetes, cholesterol that is only slightly elevated. My skin/complexion has never looked better. I sleep so good at night and wake up rested. I want to lose down to about 180. I don't have periods any more due to the surgery, but I do feel that the WLS has helped to alleviate the PCOS symptoms. PCOS is more than just a disease of infertility. It affects your whole body and your whole life. It is nothing to deny or to play around with. Oh how I wish I had the information years ago that I have now. I would have had lap band surgery years ago. The lifestyle for wls still requires work and conscious decisions to make your health a priority, but the difference for me is that the work I put in actually yields results! Yesterday I bought a size 18 pants when it wasn't too long ago I barely squeezed into a 28. The NSVs are great too! I know that was a long post, but I hope it helps someone.
  24. 50 lbs. gone today, and feeling restriction finally after fill last week. NSV being able to wash hair in kitchen sink again!
