  1. 3 Weeks out of Surgery and I have hit a plateau. Feeling Frustrated.

    1. gabybab

      gabybab

I'm 5 weeks out and have not had a loss this week. Same weight as 7 days ago, but I have lost over 40 pounds, so must be a stall, because I'm not eating enough to maintain my weight. I bet we will start losing again soon. Hang in there!

    2. Losingit2018

      Losingit2018

Do a search on 3 week stall and hang in there. It happens to most of us at 3 weeks out.

  2. A week and a day since surgery. Last night was the first night I got actually sleep, clocking in 7 hours. Oddly enough it's left me tired all day, but I didn't nap.
2 days ago my gas pains subsided (woohoo!)
I have aches and pains and of course sharp little pains around all the incisions (6 + 1 where the drain was), and I can't take the tylenol with codeine because it makes me feel like I have vertigo.
I have started the countdown mentally to my soft food stage starting on Monday. Looking forward to that, can't wait to see if eggs and cheese will still be my friends.

    1. BlueIGT

      BlueIGT

After my appointment on Wednesday I was informed my soft food days don't start until Thursday :( So I stopped looking at all the recipes I could make on Monday lol. Oh well better safe than sorry.

  3. I've been stalled pretty much all month and got dumped last night. I'm not giving up, but starting 2019 in tears was not on my to do list.  Urg.

    1. FluffyChix

      FluffyChix

I'm sorry to hear this. Hang in there. 2019 is going to rock!!

    2. Jazzy1125

Hang in there, the positive side is you have more time to focus on you and your 2019 goals! You got this girl!

Thanks, both of you 💕 Here's to it hopefully just getting better from here!

  4. I went to my 4th NUT appointment this week and I was absolutely surprised that I had actually lost 9 pounds from my last appointment.  I can get a bit obsessive when it comes to scale use so I've decided to only do pre-op weigh-ins at my monthly appointments.  It saves me a lot of anxiety, I think.

I actually was prepared to go to the appointment with excuses on why i gained, so this was a big win.  I didn't actually add much activity to my routine, the only thing I changed was having protein shakes every morning instead of just weekdays.  I really thought my extracuricular snacking activities were going to cause an issue, but I'm not going to let that make feel like it's ok to snack late or keep eating cheese non-stop.   Also probably helps that I had the stomach bug a couple days last week.  I think my organs liquified and came out....yuck...

  5. The stall officially broke yesterday and I'm down to 234! So 3lbs lost in 2 days! HALLELUJAH!

  6. My weight will JUST NOT BUDGE. I'm annoyed. This stall sucks. Can stress alone trigger a stall? I'm 237, have been for...oh 10 days now. I'm doing everything else I need to, but am more stressed than I have been.

    1. KimTriesRNY

      KimTriesRNY

You will stall. I’ve had stalls for over three weeks at a time. The lower you get, the longer it will take to lose the pounds. Just keep to the program, it will come off. It’s discouraging but everyone goes through it! 🤗

  7. One Week Post Op today! I feel great and almost walking back to normal. I have learned in this short week to not drink your dinner protein shake at a constant sipping. I spent 30 min the last two nights trying to release the pressure in my chest. Lesson Learned! I am back down to Surgery Date Weight as of this morning, actually half a pound less. Now to look forward to actual losses LOL. I guess i had a lot of gas and liquids that are taking time to leave my body. Its all good, it will be gone eventually! I have no regrets, and take each day as it comes and look forward to the next stage next Thursday, and getting my stitches out on Tuesday.

  8. For the last two weeks, I've been losing close to a pound a day...is this okay???

    1. OKCPirate

      OKCPirate

Yep. Congrats. At that rate it will stall at 21 (see three week stall).

  9. Tried on some new clothes for the first time since my surgery - 6 weeks out today and have gone from 22/24 (sometimes 26/28) to a very comfortable 18/20. Woohoo! And yes, I did buy a few cute things on clearance. :3

  10. a few weeks ago I bought a pair of size 12 dress pants because they were on clearance. they were a couple of inches away from fastening/zipping. today they fastened/zipped easily. don't look quite right yet, but within the next couple of weeks I suspect they will. I haven't worn that size in a very long time. guess I better put them in the queue to be hemmed up!

      Christinamo7

it's just NUTS. :-) in a good way. in the weeks since I bought these pants the scale has been bouncing around the same 3-4 pounds. and NOT going lower, but obviously the body is changing, because I haven's so much as washed them yet, so I know the pants haven't changed. what a wild ride.

  11. The dreaded "2 weeks stall" won't budge...ain't nobody got time for disssss I have vacation coming up!

  12. Went to store, used a mortozied cart (because of my ACL knee surgery TWO weeks ago). My teenager was Mortified. Saying that this was like my "600 lb life) and that I needed to lose weight (duh, WLS planned for Nov). I laughed it off, but also realized that if I don't have surgery/lose weight, I am headed for motorized cart & how hard it would be. :(

    1. Cervidae

      Cervidae

@WLSResources/ClothingExch LOL! You made me laugh out loud here in my quiet apartment. Thanks for that!

@Anna Nim I had the same surgery 2 months ago! Well that, plus a meniscus repair and a meniscus trim. But a few months ago in San Diego, we went to the zoo, and my knee was so messed up that my boyfriend and aunt convinced me to get a scooter so I could see the whole zoo. I was pretty mortified too, especially when strangers stopped in their tracks to stare/glare at me or even confront me and tell me "I should be walking!" I weighed about 250 at the time, so I was definitely overweight but in no way "600 pound life" large. People are going to be ridiculous/ignorant/judgmental no matter what, so do what you need to so you can recover and ignore the a-holes! Teenagers are, as a whole, incapable of ignoring them, hence the mortification. :P Hope your knee heals well and quickly!

    2. KristenLe

      KristenLe

This was one of the reasons I decided to have surgery - I pictured myself having to ride around in a hoveround by age 50! :-(

    3. Anna Nim

      Anna Nim

You guys are cracking me up! Mow The Kid down indeed!!

I would SO smack a person who actually SAID I should be walking! Those are the same fools that tell women to breastfeed in the restroom. Luckily, at 5 10 and resting bitch face, I never had to do that :)

I just need to do PT..like right now! I need the strength to stop wearing the brace, but since it is hard to move around, it is a pain.

@Cervidae I also had mensicus repair and trim. They shaved all the fuzzy off my bones. Ick City!

      Thanks ya'll!

If you saw how much your stomach convulses and churns to digest food you wouldn't have cheated. Liquids are to make it easier for your body to heal.

  21. 6 weeks out and started exercising in earnest and now the dreaded stall. Out of frustration pre-surgery, I would be three quarters of the way through a bag of Reeses Peanut Butter Cups! So thankful that kind of distructive eating is no longer a part of my life!

    1. The New Kel

      The New Kel

Ahhh the dreaded stall! hang in there...it will pass! Good for you for the exercise routine. I am still trying to make a habit out of mine.

And I can soooo relate to the recess candy binge had I not had this sleeve. The sleeve has many times saves me from myself.

      Great to hear your update!

  22. Took a nice break; back to read some info; I have my first consult/appt next week on the 19th. FInally coming around. On the downside, my insurance company is requiring me to do all the weight management part again, because there wasn't a CONSECUTIVE documented doctor visits. Ugh. I went from March 2016 to Dec 2016; and only Sept was documented in between. But I'm trying to stay positive. It shall pass.

    1. LittleBill

      LittleBill

The whole paperwork thing sucks, but on the positive side, apart from the paperwork, you are making progress where it really counts.

    2. Newme17

      Newme17

      That's what I'll remind myself...progress.

  23. Week six has been a struggle. Mental hunger. I'm finding my sleeve to not preventing me from eating just about anything. Also I could be grazing all day if I wanted to. I now measure my food, but it doesnt help. but it's scary to think even after this procedure,If I could, I would.

    1. Babbs

      Babbs

Did you think it would stop you from choosing what and when to eat? That's not how it works, unfortunately.

It's hard, but you can do it. Make sure what you're eating is mostly protien, as that keeps you fuller longer. Also, I ate evert 2 hours on a schedule for well over a year. That helps, and you're not really grazing doing that, just eating small meals through out the day. Now I eat every 3 hours. I'm at goal and have been for over a year, so it's worked for me.

    2. SusieSouth

      SusieSouth

Thanks @Babbs! I needed to hear this. I just thought I would come out having a real aversion to food. But in a way I'm thankful and blessed not have anything extreme of the sort. It's all about self-control. I've realized that now. I am having smaller meals, with snacks scheduling water in between to meet my goals. It's all about protein. AND some fiber. I've learned from an episode with constipation to not solely rely on just protein.

  24. Man, oh man... I've lost about 5 lbs in the last 5 weeks. I'm only 7 out from surgery. I'm considering it a stall... and I'm super frustrated!

    1. Travelher

      Travelher

Nope, not a stall. You are losing. If you don't lose or gain for more than a week you are stalling. You already have a lower BMI totally normal for it to slow down...when I was banded at 180ish it took me 3 months to get to 170 and then another 6 get to 160. You just need to be patient. You are losing. At whatever rate it is better than gaining or stalling.

    2. catwoman7

      catwoman7

all I can say is.....get used to it. You'll have lots of weeks like that. As the others have said, just be patient and stick to your plan.

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I have my own definition of a stall. It is more than 2 weeks without any loss whatsoever. but that is just me
