  1. Hello everyone. So I had gastric bypass 6 weeks ago today and I am still miserable! I get sick every time I eat. I can’t keep my vitamins down. I have tried two different vitamins and both have made me sick. I do take omperazole everyday. I’m not sure what to do now, or if this is normal to still feel so bad after 6 weeks. At this point I’m regretting getting this done. If someone has some suggestions please let me know. Thanks!
  2. How long does weight stall last. Or should I go back to the puree stage. I on l y need 10 more pounds for my goal weight. Surgery was 3 21 2021. 250lbs today and for last week and a half. Its 180 and 184. I go to gym 2 to 3 days a week. Cardio and light workout. Is this a stall or did I reach my limit.. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. I'm really discouraged [emoji20]. My SW was 255, after 2 week liquid diet I only lost 5 pounds to 250lbs. Right then I told myself that the surgery isn't going to work if 2 weeks of only liquids takes off 5 pounds. I decided that I tried everything else and might as well go through with it. Released from hospital at 247. Weighed myself at home next day and was 243lbs. My home scale has always been a bit lower than hospital scale by 3 or so pounds as I weigh nude. Today a week later weigh 241. Lose and gain like this is common for me with doing Keto. I can lose 14lbs in two weeks doing Keto, just couldn't commit and keep it off. All of this to say, I fear I've done this for nothing. I'm having 2 Boost shakes (240 cal each), 1 Priemere Protien clear waters (90 cal), 3 x16.9 Oz bottles of water, and 2 cups of low sodium chicken broth. I am walking 20 minutes a day. Has anyone else experienced minimal loss and a gain within the first week? I'm starting to think I've made an irreversible mistake. Thanks for taking the time to read this [emoji4] Sent from my SM-A716U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. I am having a different kind of abdominal pain in the last day or so near the biggest incision. Everything looks normal, it feels like soreness under the skin, like a dull pain. It's not very strong pain, 2/10, but it's different from what I was experiencing before (tearing/burning feeling around the incision when I made some movements but not this dull feeling). Almost feels like a muscle strain or something and it's freaking me out. I was thinking it could be gas but it's just on the right side of my abdomen. Is that something any of you experienced?

    Stall?

Hi all, Pre-op weight was 298. Weight on day of surgery (4/27) was 289. Current weight is 271. I’ve been at 271 for 2 weeks now. Any advice? Did anyone else go through this?
  6. Got just diagnosed with iron deficiency. So it's high dose supplements for a few weeks and another blood work. Plus testing for occult bleeding to make sure it's really a nutritional issue (most likely the cause - after all bariatric surgery is now regularly listed as a possible cause and given the fact that iron absorption occurs in the duodenum and upper jejunum...).

Don't worry after my gastric bypass I too was diagnosed with iron deficiency and Vitamin D deficiency as well. My doctor monitors my blood levels and added iron supplements and vitamin D supplement to my vitamin regime. Good Luck :)

  7. I have been doing great since my surgery on New Years Eve. I was losing weight well and only weigh myself once a week. I never had a stall and that is probably because I had covid and it hit my whole gastro system so I lost weight there too. I was still losing weight well this last week. I have lost nothing. I was like well here is my first stall and now I am still the same weight. I have added a frozen yogurt Yasso at night after dinner because it has been hot and I have not added a snack to my diet yet. I am wondering if my weight stall is normal at 5 months or if it is because I added something new to my diet that I should not be having. I never let my carbs for the day go over 50 and my protein is between 60 to 80. My calories are never over 1000 either. If I have higher carbs for the day I do not have the yogurt bar. Do you think this is normal? Should I put protein shakes back into my diet? Should I do my snack earlier in the day?
  8. Hi everyone im 5-6 weeks post op for a sleeve. I am hungry quite a lot and I am so worried about. I’m starting to avoid the scales. I am worried this is going to work. I feel I’ve been let out into the world with no idea on what I should or shouldn’t have daily. I just feel lost for the food side of things whats everyone else eating? Does anyone feel like they are over eating? thank you
  9. It’s only been about five months since my surgery and I’ve been having consistent stalls. I am nowhere near my goal weight. I have had some issues with birth control shots messing up my hormones but now I’ve been dancing around the same 6lbs gaining and losing them for two weeks. I’m getting my protein, drinking my water, and eating around 1000-1200 calories a day. I slowed down a bit on exercise due to another procedure I had to have but overall I’m still active. I just always feel bloated but probiotics are keeping my digestion on track. Any advice? Or has anyone else faced this?

    Weight loss stall

I have only lost 22 lbs, since surgery on 4/13/21 the past 10 days have been no weight loss. Can eat more things now, but wondering if I need to go back to 90 grams of protein per day- right now I’m at 30-60 and eat a small meal at night. Haven’t had sugar in a long time. Haven’t been drinking much water either. Any thoughts out there?

4 weeks and feeling hungry a lot

I had surgery April 27 and I’ve been doing well no complications so far. Anyways I’m feeling hungry a lot more now but of course I still can’t eat very big portions(2-3oz at a time) I’m getting my proteins in and my water. I absolutely HATE the soft food diet and can’t wait to have real food. Anyways is eating 2-3 oz about 5-6x a day ok? I see my team on Wednesday but I’m just curious what everyone else is doing/did.
  12. Hi Everyone! I'm so happy I found this group! I've learned a great deal from the forums. I'm 8 weeks out from u RYGB gastric bypass surgery. My stomach feels awful most of the time. I'm nauseous most of the time, especially when I drink any liquid or eat. At times, when I'm drinking water it feels like someone is sticking needles in my stomach. I've not been able to tolerate any dairy yet. My doctor and his team are fantastic, but nothing has helped, herbs, ginger etc. except for Zofran and I really can't take medication forever. No food tastes good or appeals to me. I've also had to have my esophagus dilated 2 times because it becomes so tight that swallowing is difficult. Has anyone else had these issues after a RYBG? I'm really working on not getting discouraged! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!
  13. First of all, I want to share some stats/background. I am 47 years old (46 at time of WLS). I was 264 at my highest weight, which is also my weight before starting the pre-op diet. I was a plus size 20-22 in jeans, and a 2X in tops. My surgery date was 7/6/20. I reached my chosen goal weight of 150 on 2/26/21. My current weight is 132. I wear a S/XS in tops and a 0 or 2 in most pants/jeans. I am pretty tall at 5’8”. My bra size went from 40DD to a 34B. I love my new body, being the fittest in my adult life, and being healthy. With that being said, I really miss having boobs. The loose skin on my butt folds uncomfortably under my tailbone when I sit or lay down. My tummy flops around unless I am wearing something tight or with compression. My legs are very saggy. I am scheduled for plastic surgery in Mexico on 5/29. I am going to get a belt lipectomy (360 tummy tuck), with butt lift, a breast lift, and breast augmentation. I am hopeful the belt lipectomy and time will make a thigh lift unnecessary in the future, but we will see. I really do not want the scars. My arms have a bit of loose skin, but not enough to make an arm lift necessary, IMO. I chose Mexico for price and proximity. I know Florida is better priced for plastic surgery than most, if not all, of the rest of the US, but I really do not want to travel that far (Nevada). I will be going alone and I will be there for 6 days. When I get home, I have my family to help take care of me, including my wound care nurse husband. I am super excited for this next step in my weight loss process and honestly can’t wait to have boobs again! 😀 I have added some pics of pre-WLS (yikes😞), and now, pre-plastics. I will post more as I as go, including after photos. 😀😀
  14. On vacation for three whole weeks now. Finally. First "real" vacation without studying for an exam or moving towns like since forever.

  15. I lost 15 pounds week one and not a pound since. I’m a month post op tomorrow and I can also eat a whole sandwich before I get full. I’m so irritated. I did the surgery for the restriction

    Lose, lose, stall

So this happens to me sometimes and is happening to me. Last week I lost 6lbs but this week, I’ve hit a stubborn stall. I am eating right as my program says and exercising, getting my protein/water. But I’m still stuck in a stall. It’s infuriating. Does this happen to anyone else? You lose, lose, and then stall?
  17. Hi Everyone, I’m officially 6 weeks post gastric bypass and I’m feeling great! Starting weight pre-liquid diet was 305lbs. After 3 week liquid diet on day of surgery I weighed in at 277lbs. Today, I’m sitting at 243lbs! I was on the post op liquid diet for 2 weeks then semi-solid for 1 week. 4th week out I started on full solids and have kept everything down. I’ve had pizza, subs, burgers, hotdogs, steak, pork, ribs, wings etc and have never felt nauseous or thrown anything back up. Of course I can only have bites/ounces at a time but it’s great to be back on regular food! With the doctors blessing I golfed 4.5 weeks out and got in 13 holes before it hurt to much to finish, but finished a full round of 18 the next week. Even rode my bike 6km yesterday with the kids....which is who I did this journey in the first place! I’ve had type 2 diabetes for 5 years and have stopped taking meds about 3 weeks ago (doctors suggested) as my resting sugars have not gone over 6.5 in weeks. I’ve read lots of posts on here steering inquiring people the wrong way with horror stories of months/years of not eating regular food and/or not being able to do physical activities months/years post op. My answer is listen to your doctor and your body and do what’s best for you. Everyone is different and the post op experiences are going to be vastly different. Thanks and looking forward to more weight loss and more physical activities with my kids! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I had my RNY on April 8 and everything has been going well. The only thing I've dumped on was a little bit of a chicken skin (and I think I may have been eating too fast at that dinner, it was our first time hosting a dinner since my surgery and I was excited!). Anyways, in a week or two, my work is having a pizza party, and I was wondering when other people found they could tolerate pizza. I don't want to dump or have to leave work early because I ate something I shouldn't have, but I'd also love to have half a slice if it's not going to bother me too much. I'm also going to be sending my nutritionist this question, but I thought I'd check with some people's personal experience in this as well. (For the record, I am also absolutely fine bringing my lunch. I haven't had much in the way of cravings and don't feel the need to eat pizza if it won't sit well, it's more about participating in the group activity I think).
  19. I’ve made it 4 weeks. I’m going back to work!!! Im very used to having everything at my disposal at home. But, what suggestions do you guys have for lunches, and/or snacks for work? I’m going to bring me some premier protein shakes for my mini fridge. But is there anything else that I should keep around? I’m super nervous about getting active again, I’m definitely going to take it slow. Just don’t want to accidentally starve myself due to not having much appetite.
  20. I am 6 weeks out of surgery and I already ran out of ideas of what to eat. I had been eating yogurts, cottage cheese, refried beans, cheese, scrambled eggs, and protein shakes. I don't feel like eating this anymore to the point where I just dont eat and will drink water instead. What else can I eat when I am hungry!?
  21. Today marks five weeks since surgery. I am down 25lbs since surgery day, so 5lbs/week thus far. I did hit a stall for a little over a week around week 3-4 but weight loss has resumed. This has been an amazing time, fingers crossed for continuing positive progress! hw 267 sw 247 cw 221 gw 175
  22. Hi All, I’m nearly 9 weeks post arm lift and panniculectomy. I still have about a quarter size open incision in both arm pits. My surgeon treated it about two weeks ago with silver nitrate, and I’m going back next Thursday for her to do it again. I’ve been keeping in clean and dry per the instructions I received and it doesn’t look infected. My arms are still very swollen and I’ve continued to wear my compression garments nearly all day. Did anyone else have an experience like this?
  23. Hello all I just had surgery on 4/28 and I’m feeling great and have no problems. My only issue is that I have an overwhelming need to chew. I’m reaching all my hydration and food goals...not hungry, just need to chew. I am chewing gum and it seems to help some but I am so over sweet things. I need something savory, any suggestions? Thanks.

  25. Hi everyone! So I am feeling very discouraged today. I weighed myself today for the first time in a week. I thought the scale would show some weight loss because I noticed that my stomach looks more flat than the previous week. To my surprise, the scale shows that I've gained five pounds in one week I'm not taking in that many calories on the puree stage, im just surprised to gain weight so soon after surgery. The first two weeks I have lost a lot of weight. The day of my surgery almost four weeks ago I was 397lbs and I am now in my 360s. But I still have a lot to lose and I just have so many thoughts in my head now, like was this surgery worth it if im just going to gain weight? I understand it may be water weight, I have been struggling drinking my water. Has anyone else had a similar story when they first started their journey especially being a couple hundred pounds overweight? Also how do you get 64oz of water in per day so early on? I am struggling, mostly because I forget to drink haha any suggestions?
