TMI, but I nearly passed out in the shower (not on) when attempting to use an enema. I was in so much pain. Enema didn't work and went the manual route, which was a big relief. Hurt for a few days after but all better after a week. I try to really keep on top of my liquids, too. Constipation is awful. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm not sure there is one. My doctor allows both immediately following surgery--and he is super strict about things (ie, no yogurt or pudding allowed during full liquid, strict rules about drinking calories, had to strain (not just puree) soups during full liquids--etc). I would always follow what your own surgeon says, but this was my experience. Before surgery, I only drank coffee on weekends bc sometimes it would give me diarrhea (TMI?) but now I am soooo grateful for it bc it helps keep me regular.

So I am about 2.5 weeks post op and over the weekend I have been itching all over my body. My forearms, legs, neck, even groin (sorry, I know it is tmi). I have a rash on my neck but I don't see a rash anywhere else. I just itch intensely. I'm getting well over 64 oz of fluid. My lips are also a little swollen and I have bumps on the bottom lip. I thought it might be a Coldstream but it isn't presenting like one. No constriction of airway or throat. So it doesn't seem to be anaphylaxis. Anyone else have these issues post op? I've got a call into my surgeon's office bit thought I would ask here as well. Thank you for any input!

My fig tree is full of beautiful, ripe figs, but I haven't touched them yet. Im so used to eating them off the tree at this time of year... Is it ok to eat a fig or two 5 weeks out? I figured it would help with the (TMI WARNING) BMs, but they are pretty sweet. Any suggestions??

Duodenal switch -Do you physically feel different and what about sex?
NovaLuna replied to Notwhatyousee's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I can definitely tell I had surgery because I can't eat very much and for some reason really only feel hungry in the morning. Despite the fact I had the Loop DS and was told you don't get dumping syndrome they LIED because wheat makes me dump. I don't really get diarrhea unless I eat too much sugar alcohol (and get REALLY bad gas from it too so I avoid the sugar alcohol as much as I can) but my body DOES decide about 2-3 days a week to completely empty itself so you're in the bathroom for a WHILE (TMI, sorry). I'm a stomach and side sleeper and have no issues with sleeping like that nor does it hurt though I can definitely tell my intestines have been messed with when I have my bathroom trips, but outside of that l don't notice a difference. As to the bathroom thing... in the beginning food went right through me, but my system got used to it and now I usually only go #2 every other day or every 2 days, the problem with that is that my system decides 90% of the time that when I DO go I have to empty everything in me so you're are definitely in there for a while. And sometimes will have to go back for a return trip 1/2 an hour to an hour later. But the funny thing is my system is pretty much regular and this always happens around the same time of day. The surgery was one of the best things I ever did for myself and I'm glad I made the choice to have it done. Knowing what I know if I'd had to do it all over, I would. -
Im jealous you had a pain pump I just had liquid vicodine and that is crap... I walked down the driveway and did 3 mins on the treadmill I don't want to scare the whole neighborhood with no bra on walking like a crazy person.... I fall asleep every 4 hours like out cold... My day is breath into that thinger, sit up and drink, wait for bubbles to go down potty n back to bed.. TMI I was able to #2 today which is great I heard some people take weeks and I think I'd be grouchy by then

Ladies......I need help with the girls!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I've found that the ones with no padding tend to make them look a little pointy (I know, TMI). Anyone else have any recommendations? -
Headache and Liquid Diet
Colleen C replied to astalsby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us understand because we went through this too, the pre-op diet is so hard! Your body and mind is going through withdrawals. Sounds a little crazy but it is true. Concentrate on getting through the day and soon it will be over. Baby steps... Sheer willpower to get the surgery will get you through this and keep reminding yourself this part is temporary. To me, it got so much easier after surgery, especially when you get to full food choices. You need to do this to shrink your liver and the bonus is you will loose weight and be on your way to the new you. Use this site for support, to cry, complain, willpower, encouragement or anything you need. That is what it is here for and why the rest of us are here. TMI ALERT: A few times on my pre-op when I could not stand it anymore I would take a bite of something and chew it up and spit it into the garbage. It helped me. I m not sure that is for everyone but it worked for me. Please know, we are here for you and been where you are right now. You CAN and WILL succeed. Good luck to you, Colleen -
Enjoying Exploring my Anatomy!
JamieLogical replied to Dr-Patient's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
My pelvic bones are actually annoying me now. The jut out so far that I am always banging my arms on them. How is that a thing that is happening?!?! Also, itching is a painful endeavor now. Like around my collar bones and jaw. Nails on bone is an uncomfortable sensation. TMI Warning!!!! But the worst, by far, is this tendon that stretches from my crotchal region to my inner thigh. When my husband and I have sex and he's on top, his pelvic bone pokes that tendon and it HURTS!!! -
Pre-op, BPD/Duodenal Switch vs Gastric Sleeve
briannadoeslife replied to liftedjeep06's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
TMI but You'll also probably be going to the bathroom and having gas more and one of the side effects is that your bowel movements will smell worse -
Like Paola, I don't find that thin liquids fill me up quickly. I had a bowl of egg drop soup and almost finished the hole thing. I did not rush eating it, though. I sipped it over about 20-30 minutes or so. With cream soups, about a 1/3 cup and I was satisfied. The key is to eat/drink slowly and gauge how you're feeling. For me, when I feel satisfied, I just stop regardless of how much or how little I've consumed. Like you, I figure I'd rather be safe than sorry. My goal is to try to get through this process without puking (sorry if that's tmi). Sleeved 2-27-12

Please Help - Was Sleeved On Monday The 12Th
dlinnh replied to dlinnh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I can't tell if I'm hungry or my new tummy is pissed off. I think it actually gave me the finger the other day! I thought days 4 and 5 I was starving. But really I wasn't hungry - just trying to get used to the new feelings and signals. I can't wait to be able to go to soft liquid stage - yogurt, creamed Soups and pudding - that should be on Monday. but taking it slow is the key here I think. Also, no BM yet - REALLY! I was sleeved on Monday. Dr. told me to get Miralax - so I drank that and still nothing. I can take it again tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed. I never thought I would be so happy as the time I get to use the potty. TMI I definitely did too much today. I bent over to get something in a low cabinet and I really felt the "pull" in my abdomen - like I was very aware of the staples. good luck everyone -

Cher... We are the same My surgery was on Nov 12th... and I'm down 20 as well!!! I am feeling good... still tired and weak... as for Protein I am using the costco shakes too... I also found a great product called "Protein Blitz" it's like a Gatorade... each 20 oz bottle serves 30 grams of protein. You can find it at "The Vitamin Shoppe" or other places like GNC. This week I have stalled :-\ - Don't know if its the "3 week stall" everyone talks about or cuz I started my cycle... (TMI) Double-whammmie Lol o_O Oh well... 20 pounds is a Great start... keep me posted... Good Luck!!!! -

JUNE 2014 POST OP SUPPORT GROUP!
Ginger Snaps replied to bravobentley's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
@kerweav -- My turn now for TMI -- I've only pooped twice since surgery 2 weeks ago. I think it's perfectly normal but if you start cramping up, call the doc and see what you might be able to take. I took Ducolax 2 nights ago and it relieved a lot of the cramping. @ I had the same thing happen -- 2 days after I was released from the hospital I started having a LOT of shortness of breath. Couldn't even finish sentences. They did a boatload of tests to rule out blood clots (CT scan, ultrasound of leg veins) and problems with the surgery (swallow test and CT scan with contrast) and heart issues (EKG, heart labs). Everything else was fine. But my doctor didn't want me on oral antibiotics so I got stuck in the hospital for 3 days on 3 different IV antibiotics. That's when I had my first BM after surgery -- antibiotics will tear you up! I feel like the surgery pushed back my recovery for a week or so -- so very weak until this weekend when I finally felt like moving around some. Hang in there -- it gets better! -
Stuck and severely depressed. Need help.
meyouus posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm 3 1/2 months out. Lost 40 lbs before surgery and 30 lbs post-op (month and a half) then absolutely nothing. I've been 305 for two months almost. It's like my scale is stuck. Probably I am. I must be honest, I don't think I'm getting enough Protein in on some days, most of the time I'm spot on. I drink like a fish. Water, diet green tea, decaf (yes, I subtract that from my daily intake), Propel, herbal tea, decaf tea. Drinking is no problem. I eat a cup, cup and a half of a protein laden meal at meals, but I do not eat my recommended Snacks all the time. t's really hard to eat. My NUT said something about Grehlin and that my appetite will return. But I'm out 3 1/2 months, when will I start losing weight! Should I go back on liquids for a week? Or fast for three days? Or what? All you guys are losing massive amounts of weight, and I am literally stuck on 305. I feel like this surgery was a flop. I feel like a failure. I lost enough weight that my Pulmonologist took me off all forms of supplemental oxygen. THATS awesome! I'm trying to walk the halls at work without my Rollator, and I'm doing better. No where near normal, but better. I walk kinda funny. My coworkers know I had the rny, and are waiting for me to lose all sorts of weight, but I'm not. I'm embarrassed and ashamed. If I were gaining, I'd have something to look at, but I'm not. I have NO food sensitivities, no dumping. However, if I eat to fast or not chew enough, I throw up the stuck food. No diarrea. No constipation. TMI here: my bowel is always a light beige, if that means anything. Doc put me on an anti-gall stone med last month. Its supposed to be for 6 months. Help? I'm stuck and severely depressed. -
Toilet troubles! Advanced warning

Hello apologies for the unsavory topic! I'm waiting to hear back from my surgical advice but wanted to ask here because people are so helpful, I'll be 3 weeks post op this sunday and every day since the surgery I've had bad diarrhea (as in complete liquid and orange) apologies tmi I know Has anyone else had this? I'm struggling because it makes me feel nauseous all day nearly and I know it's only a matter of time before I need to go and sit on the throne again, I lie down after and about 20 minutes later I dont feel so awful Surgery advice said they would expect it to be dumping syndrome but I haven't had sugars because they taste foul at the minute and I'm hardly eating or drinking either and it's been every flipping day now! I know it must clear up but it's making it so all I'm doing is lying down and feeling like I made a stupid decision Thanks in advance! Sam -
Surgery at 9am tomorrow 16th
Beautyandbeyond replied to Misty_eyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear that Misty! This question is a bit tmi but wanted to know if you woke up with a catheter or did your bladder wake up immediately. I've got anxieties about all of that! ugh -
Probably TMI...but I feel I'm among friends here. With the sleeve, you don't create as much bile. You can still throw up, it's just different. I had food poisoning and it was hard and different, but I was able to throw up. Instead of a liquid, I had more of a foam. It seemed to take a lot more out of me physically. My entire body hurt the next day.

Hi Guys! My kids just left for school so I can try and take in some fluid. I woke up every 3 hours to use the bathroom, I feel bloated still like I'm pregnant and had my first BM sorry if its TMI IT Sure wasn't solid, my body is still gassy. I have no desire to "eat" but the smell of food makes me sick, my four year old doesn't understand any of it and my two year old is obsessed with my incisions. Ill see how today goes, but I feel better already. this wasn't easy but I have to look further than right now...

Hey Panda, I am a runner. I have been running for the last 17 years of my life. So a 4mile walk is nothing for me. One would think with all of the running that I do, I wouldn't need this surgery -- but I did. My starting weight was 225lbs, and I am down to 214 in a matter of days. (I haven't been able to get the weight off in YEARS!) I am sooo excited for my journey to see where I will end. My goal is around 130-135. Per my doc, I can walk~walk~walk~as much as possible. The more walking -- the less gas I will have. I figure, by 3 weeks I will be back to running again (as long as there is no pain). I can do up to 10 lbs of weights. I am restricted from elipitcal machines, or any machine that could pull the stiches loose for 1 month. I feel great! Unfortunately, I have sooo many chores, etc to do around my house -- so when I got back home, I didn't stop moving. Woke up extremely tired today to come back to work. Ohh about that Protein, I am only 5\6 days out. I am just trying to get my liquids in at this time. My body isn't accepting the protein just yet. I have been drinking "G" (Gatorade) - Recovery (it has protein in it). I also have protein shots. When I take the shots (and this is TMI people - turn your heads.lol); it gives me the runs. So, until I go on thick protein, I will stay away from the shots for now. Fluids are going down like a champ. It hurt at first, but ever day is better and better. Not so much pain. Panda, keep me posted on your results and how you're doing. I would love to share as we move forward. Take Care Sleeve2B

Why do i start menstruating 2 days before surgery? Seriously. Like i haven't jumped through enough hoops with the insurance and the moving of the date and starting liquid diet all over. I am so pissed. I'm going to bleed everywhere! *facepalms* -
New food intolerances after revision?
Shells_Almost_There replied to GingerSlim's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I find that I can't have the protein bars or shakes that I relied on before and after VSG. Now, they are too sweet and (sorry, TMI) I almost immediately get the shakes (dumping) and will probably have to run to the bathroom. And really, that's what's changed the most after my revision to RNY - I haven't had more than maybe 5 normal BMs in 19 months. -
April Bunnies '09- Let's share: How are you doing?
AngieB2009 replied to Band_Groupie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay Bunnies - Here is my update. 1. WEIGHT- 246 ya baby! 2. FILLS- I have had 3 fills. With a total of 1.6 in my band. (I have a 4cc band.) 3. RESTRICTION- Good level of restriction. I am eating a cup of food per meal. (unless I have slider foods.) I feel satisfied and have no hunger pains for hours after eating. 4. RULES-I feel like I am doing good with the bandster rules. 5. ANYTHING ELSE- Going to have some lab work done to check my Vitamin levels. Noticing more bruising so I am wondering how my Iron is? I have been taking a liquid multi Vitamin A few times a week, along with calcuim, E, and NeoCell. I have noticed some hair loss, nothing to alarming. TMI alert - I notice I poop less than I use to, and it is often harder. On the verge of to hard. Yikes! Hard to eat Fiber, and I am terrible about adding it in to my diet. Right now I have the powder and think the chewable tablets would be much better for me. (I could count them as a snack...a little humor there!) I drink coffee in the morning and then hit the vitamin Water. 60 oz a day.
