Crazy Janey - your estrogen theory may be something! I rarely have a period, maybe once every 5-6 months, lasts only 1 day and very, very light. The first night I couldn't sleep happened to be the day I started my period! I even commented to my friend that I was bleeding like I did as a teenager - sorry TMI. I go for my 1 week post-op tomorrow so I will inquire for all us non-sleeping estrogen ridden sleevers!! Thanks for all your comments

The I'm Here to Help Gang....

Linda, Hope you have a nice bday celebration! The cake sounds yummy. Yes, you guessed correctly- my sister stayed home. They wanted her to take care of the cats and mom had a new dishwasher being delivered. She also started a 6 hr/week job. Yes, you heard me right- 6 hrs. OMW. She is a licensed insurance agent, believe it or not- the guy who hired her is cheap, owns his own agency, and wants to pick and chose WHEN she comes in for those 6 hours! I can't believe she accepted such an offer. But I guess she can say she is "working" now. (doesn't sound as bad to be a free loader at 50, living at home). I really get so frustrated with her. But then a small part of me is glad she is there for my parents- at any capacity. I agree with most- like the new thread. : ) Yes, DH got done in about 1.5 hrs and even took Nels to a movie! I am cooking cabbage stew, doing laundry and cleaning house- so much for my "free time". LOL. I am feeling punky today. TOM surprised me for a visit, a week earlier than expected! TMI I know. Just feeling bloated and PMSy. So glad I didn't get that fill the other day now. There's always next week. Laura -
Odd question
SerendipityHappens replied to JanaLee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was having gallbladder issues, I couldn't eat pizza without running to the bathroom within about half an hour.. when I did, ****TMI ALERT*** the toilet would have oil just floating on top of the Water. Same with Chinese food. I'd NEVER leave the restaurant until I had gone to the bathroom because I had to GO within minutes of finishing my meal and it was EXPLOSIVE.. and again grease just floating there. Oddly, I could eat pastries with no trouble.. and we all know pastries are full of fat, so I don't know why the fat in chinese food and pizza was different in my body?! -
i dont like alcohol at all, except for a strawberry margarita every month or 2(woohoo !!!!), but 3 months out i had 3 small sips of a margarita during a mexican food dinner, and (TMI ALERT) had to excuse myself to the bathroom where i lost everything............ baddddddddd slime........... i have had a couple of margaritas at home since then with no probs, so im guessing it was the type of tequila that triggered that very fast reaction (cheap resturant type vs good stuff ???) just say' in be careful of when, where, and what you drink as peoples reactions can be different after they're banded. Cheers !!!

I am now in a 36D which seems a long way from a 44FF! I don't know why I didn't expect them to shrink! I think it was because when I was skinny in my teens, I still had big ones! Though truth be told, without a bra I would now describe them as 'long'. TMI apologies :-D

I had surgery August 5th, and lost 11 pounds on my preop diet. I've come home following my doctors orders to a T with no deviation. I weighed 228 preop lost 11pds which brought me down to 217. Today, the scale finally said 216.1 pound in a week? Are we for real?? My doctor said even if you're not so hungry, drink your fluids but continue to get 50 grams of Protein in which I am too. Also, not to be tmi but I can't go to the bathroom. Lost soul ...

Haha, I love this one.....I have a few that are really good ones but I will warn you that one in perticular is TMI and might offend some of you.... so dont read it if you think it might offend you 1.) the small towel fitting all the way around me. 2.) getting a honk and a whistle while walking down the street. 3.) having to tell the lady at the dressing room....can you get me the next size down. this one is to big. 4.) (this is the TMI one) my hubby going down there (you know the spot) for the first time in 16 years. 5.) accidentally grabbing the medium dress instead of the ex large one.....getting upset when I tried it on and it was just a little tight...thinking to myself WTF ex large didnt fit? (FYI I bought the dress anyways cause I loved it and knew it would fit eventually) got it home and was hanging it up when I realized the tag said medium instead of ex large! hehe...and BTW... it fits me now! DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!! OH YAH! -
20 Mi Hiking & NO LOSS!

Do you recommend additional carbs or protein for the extra calories? I've been shooting for 90 gms protein and so most food is protein in the form of meat, shake, or Greek yogurt. I track every bite through a sparkpeople app on my phone. I track all outdoor exercise via GPS on the endomondo app. I should mention that I'm always constipated now (TMI?), so it's possible that some carbs in the form of fiber might help. Thanks again for the support! PAT -
Hi Zoumommy, I was also sleeved on 2/3, so I am no expert by far, but have experienced what you are talking about. I try not to be too hard on myself as I am only a bit over 3 weeks out and have found this new way of eating to be a HUGE learning process. I am on soft foods, every surgeon is different re: post op diets, but I find that if I wait too long to eat then I will not chew my food enough because I am hungry and then it will hurt. Just consider it a lesson learned. Also, I have found this week I am hungry all of the time! I am PMS'ing (sorry tmi) so I think that is not helping. Even when I eat until satisfied, I find that I am hungry shortly after, which hasn't happened before. Maybe it's a 3 week post op thing? As our tummies heals, they start wondering where all the food went? Good luck to you!

148 pounds gone and Goal reached
Keys Pirate replied to Garyb_58's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
WOOHOO!!!! Gary, you rock!!!! I knew you would do it soon!! You look absolutely fantastic, by the way, I could not believe my eyes when you were here. Rich was especially stunned! He's up to 50 pounds down but is doing it the hard way... again! So proud of you, of all of us! You guys need to plan on coming down again, anytime. Me, I'm still hanging at 101 lost - goal was 104 but I just pulled that number out of my head. I've been fluctuating between 153 and 156 for some time now. If the remaining three pounds comes off, fine but if not, that's fine too. Probably tmi but it's only coming off my boobs now and I can't spare any more! so I really do think my body is where it wants to be. YIPPPPPEEEEEEEE !!!!!!! Say hey to Larry for us! C p.s. are your girls still considering VSG? Can't wait to hear the next chapters...! -
Yup, I know exactly what you mean. Sex was difficult for me because whenever I'd get on top, within a couple minutes my knees would be killing me (I guess the pressure of my weight combined with having sore knees already from hailing around so much weight during the day) I also am happier being sexual because I have less smelly crevices(I know, TMI!) but while I obviously don't always smell like a rose, I find that my genitals, arm pits and my body in general just doesn't get as stinky as they used to. My feet also smell better. I think I'm not sweating as much because it's easier to move around.

How are all the March 09 Lucky Losers doing? Updates everyone!
Danah1975 replied to LifeStartsNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I had my surgery on March 15, doing better now with moving around and living normally again. I do have a problem with gas though, I mean seriously, I never thought I could make this many noises, or relieve myself so LOUDLY, like an explosion (sorry if TMI). Does this go away? I lost 13 pounds in the first 10 days and since then nothing. I have no restriction and get anything I want to down fairly easily. Hope the fill will change that.. -
Yeah tmi lol but at least I know now. All it takes is one bite and I have to rush to throw up. I might as well start eating my meals in there.

If we puke up our food...
FeistyRedDragon replied to wendy1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice would be ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! lol. I have had some incidents lately of just this thing... and if it happens it is always due to eating too fast. About 2 weeks ago (Might be TMI) I ate something too fast (I knew I was but I only had about 5 minutes at the time to eat SOMETHING) and ended up making myself so sick I started coughing up blood. I was understandably alarmed and went to the DR, where he told me "You probably just traumatized your esophagus, not your stomach". It was probably the most violent episode of food coming up I've ever had. I couldn't breathe while it was happening, and it was really scary. So I definitely learned my lesson. Think of it this way, if you were sick with the flu or something and vomited, would you eat right after? I think taking in some liquids after is important... give that esophagus time to rest and your stomach too. And take my story as a cautionary tale... lol. -
I'm post op day 5, had band with plication. I have been having horrible cramping and diarehhea. Everytime I eat or drink anything substantial I end up on the toilet! Is this normal or happening to anyone else??!!

First night was really rough, but after that getting out of bed was easier and easier... I have a lot of built up gas.... (TMI). It's the gas they use during the sleeve procedure and natural one. I actually had surgery on the Monday the 13th. Trying to get as much liquid and protein down now!
-
This may be tmi but I want to know if it is just me.when I work out and sweat the smell is stronger like I smell really bad. Is that normal. I am 4 months out.

HELP.! Im starting to get really SCARED for my health... :(
imnotfat_momsayimchubby posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I know its a little TMI but I haven't gone "#2" for 10 days now. I read on the previous forums that this may be pretty common but i just wanna make sure that everything is still ok. Also, since I haven't "#2'd" I have gained a total of 4 lbs. What am I doing wrong? I am now currently on my 2nd stage diet and eating soft foods. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanx in advance... -
Thanks Ladies! I'll keep an eye on things, (and not too TMI when you're describing symptoms to look for!). Mine was all in my mid-back. Ribcage area. No other symptoms but I know what to look for now, if this continues. And my band surgeon does gallbladders too so I'll have him take care of things, if needed. innotu, I really hope it best case scenario! Worst case, is probably surgery to remove it. We'll just hope there is no need for surgery. Let us know!

Spotting ... 3 weeks post op ... TMI maybe?
IWannaBeSkinny posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Guys, Sorry if this is TMI. I was banded on Jan. 12th. One week later I started my period and had a semi normal one. Then a couple of days ago I spotted and that was it. Then last night I woke up feeling really sick and went to the bathroom and I was spotting again. I thought it was going to be an actual period, but, this AM nothing else. I am / was really crampy feeling. So, is this normal? Anyone else is the same boat? Thanks guys... -
The gas is the worst! It is different for everyone like everything in this process. TMI but I didn't pass gas for about 36 hours despite all my walking (I was pretty convinced they used extra gas on me it hurt so bad!) the nurse told me it can take up to 3 days to pas gas and I was in so much pain at that time that I cried because the pain meds didn't do much for the gas! I have never been more elated about a burp/fart, but to be quite honest I still had gas pain in my chest, shoulders and back here and there until day 5. I'm on day 7 now so there is no saying I won't get more, but I'm feeling pretty good today. The only thing I know to do is walk as much as you can tolerate, the nurse also gave me an antacid on day 2 which she said would help and then day 4 I bought gas x strips-- but for me it seemed to make it worse... Like it mobilized the gas or something so I haven't tried it since then.

Ok so, I have been totally fine with my band. Never had any huge issues. Last year I went in and had a port revision and tummy tuck. Now about 10-11 months later I go to the gastroenterologist for different problems. But they do an Upper GI Xray and they said the barium won't go down. Well that's weird because I really haven't had any problems. If I eat super fatty food I get a little acid. But prilosec takes care of it. And say if I eat really tough meat or Pasta (which gives us all problems anyway)...then I may get burpy or like I'm stuck. But I have been getting increased burping (really gross ones too, sorry TMI)...that's probably my only symptom. The xray tech and gastro have NO clue about lapbands but after looking online and finding pictures of what a band slippage looks like...mine looked awfully like it. Plus they said that my band looked as though it was placed almost opposite the direction that it usually is placed. Which is something my initial doctor could have done anyway but...the full baggy pouch above the band...make me think slippage. Any opinions? Did any of you have almost no symptoms when your band slipped?

My recovery has been ok, lots of gas! (TMI) so I have been doing a lot of walking and taking gas x strips. Just wondering are you suppose to be this gasy and when does it go away? And im starting to be hungry more than I thought I would, I would never eat nothing that would land me back in the hospital, but any ideas of what to try? Chkn broth is gettin boring.LOL
