Well, days 5 and 6 were pretty uneventful. I'm getting all my protein and fluids in. I'm actually way over on fluids. One of the things I feared most about this surgery was developing a dislike for my beloved water. I'm so happy that I still love my water. I can't chug it like I used to, but I can sip as much as I want with no problems. I did find a new love: Vitamin Water Zero Lemonade. It's nice when I just feel like something other than water. Before surgery I typically drank a couple Sprite Zero sodas per day on top of my water intake. My birthday came and went yesterday. I thought I might feel a little down about being on a liquid diet and no wine or adult drinks, but I was actually really content. My husband and I just chilled at home and rented the movie Blockers. OMG, it was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time! I had to hold a pillow on my tummy because it hurt my incisions a little to laugh that hard! 😂🤣😂 Oh, and TMI alert- I finally pooped on my birthday, five days post-op. 💩 I ended up drinking a little milk of magnesia because I could feel some pains and knew I needed to go. Other than all that, I've been getting tons of walking in and feel really good. I have been weighing myself and am down to 227 from my HW/SW of 242, which was two weeks before my surgery. They didn't weigh me pre-op at the hospital, but I think I weighed 238 at home the Sunday at home day before surgery. So down 15 total since starting the two week pre-op diet. I'll take it! 😁 I actually think my face looks thinner today but feel like I'm crazy because it's too soon to see results. 😊 -
Sick of liquids, haven’t lost a pound
magpie26 replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So it's Sunday, and if I was you I know I would check the scale even though people told me not to. How are things going? An issue I had too (I know it's TMI) was I pretty much never pooped either. I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op too, then clear fluids, then full liquids THEN puréed then FINALLY soft food. It took me some time to lose at first but then it started and stalled and started again (we all will have annoying stalls) now I'm on a streak of great loss. You'll do great! Go slow with soft food. -
Women don’t post in the gals room, hardly ever. Maybe if it’s about periods or vaginas, but it’s rare. And even sometimes they just say, “men beware” or “TMI”. Especially rare considering the high percentage of women that are members. So no, I don’t think women would care if a man posted in their designated room.

Hi - i am 7 months post bypass. I’ve lost 82 lbs- which is great. I have struggled- ulcers-gall bladder removal and my blood sugars are still high(type 2 diabetic for 22 years) I still have a lot of diarrhea(tmi) and occasional vomiting. But my biggest struggle is feeling light headed and dizzy all the time. Anyone else??? I haven’t been able to exercise much at all as I get too dizzy. Anyone else???

Compression garments for after surgery
Lyngolean replied to Elle_Woods's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I felt better (more at ease being prepared) having supplies on hand ahead of time. Turns out this was very helpful in light of the fact that despite having my surgery 4/12/18 in Minneapolis, we had a MAJOR snowstorm on my post op day 2 and 3. Because we were unable to leave our driveway due to heavy snow, my poor husband walked to the pharmacy to pick up glycerin suppositories for me (TMI, I know!). The other thing I wished I would have had on hand before surgery was the Tylenol dosage they recommended post op. I stock 500mg at our house, not 325mg tablets. That was another thing for my hubby to have to track down. Of course your surgeon may prescribe something completely different for post op pain. I had stocked my cupboards with clear liquids and full liquids ahead of time. I brought home from the hospital 4 of the tiny cups they put pills in and used that to measure my water intake the first day and a half. I would put 4 on a plate and know I needed to get those 4 cups down in the next hour. After the first day and a half, I didn't need the tiny cups as I was much more able to drink plenty of water. I also am glad I had 1/4 cup reusable plastic food storage containers for my pureed stage, but also even now, it helps with packing my lunches. For the pureed stage it was helpful because a little food covers many meals. It is super important to have a source of protein (liquid) prior to surgery that you know you can tolerate, if not enjoy. And a way to make your purees. You got this!!! -
Surgery today with Dr. Illan in Tijuana Mexico

Thanks for asking. I'm doing great. The care has been wonderful and I love my recovery room. Everything is new, clean and cozy. This may be TMI but my monthly came and one of the volunteers went out to buy me some feminine products. Honestly, this treatment is comparable to VIP treatment in the states. I'm on my third meal of homemade chicken broth, coconut water, juice, and jello. Very small amounts but boy does it taste refreshing. Tomorrow I believe I get to go out enjoy some sites! I'm here alone yet I don't feel lonely one bit. Onward and upward... -

You’re doing awesome @Hal711! I wish I could take that many ounces in. I’ll focus on more tomorrow. Also, sorry for the TMI but I tooted a little this afternoon. Felt great to get rid of some of the bloating. Haha. -

pre op urine colour - probably TMI!!!
Miss Solar shrinks posted a topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Hi all, sorry but has anyone else noticed that the colour of their urine has changed colour since starting the pre op diet? Im two weeks into the diet (total four weeks to do) which includes three protein shakes and one meal a day but I have noticed that my urine is almost neon yellow! is this a side effect of the shakes or something? (and no, its definitely not an STI or other infection, i get tested regularly) -
Warning for TMI: I am on the third day of the preop liquid diet. Can only drink three meal replacement smoothies provided by the surgeon. I always see talk about people getting constipated form surgery and the liquid diet before it, but I'm having the opposite problem and the poop is super dark. Thank goodness that I work from home so I can run to the bathroom, but I'm scared I'm one trusted fart away from a disaster. Is this normal and what can be done about it?

I had diabetes and technically still do till I hit the 6months with no medication and controlled number of 90. I will tell you that I take nothing for blood sugar control and my number 90-95range since 2days post op. (Keeping in mind I’m baby post op at day 6days lol) it’s amazing to feel free of the medication. As for poo I had my first one this morning. It had zero form to it. Beware TMI coming. It was more like a small black/very dark brown pile of poo flakes. But I took 15ml of MOM last night since it had been I believe since the 18th I had one. I’m not sure what is ahead in the poo future but I can tell you right now I’m free. -
Question for sleevers
moondoggie1983 replied to moondoggie1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m popping back to soft foods and liquids for the next 2 weeks because when I eat meat, I vomit it right back up. I’m not opposed to becoming a vegetarian, and at this point it seems very appealing. I’m going to try black beans and cottage cheese again tomorrow. Wish me luck! :) Do you mind if I ask when your surgery was and how successful you have been? I don’t mean to pry and you definitely don’t have to answer if you’d prefer not to. I’m getting the water in now no problem but the protein is killing me and I’m basically failing there. Tomorrow I’m going to look for some smoothie recipes. I have the unjury powder (it says unflavored but I can definitely taste and smell it so I’ll probably be heading to GNC tomorrow to pick up a flavored one.) I hadn’t really thought about the added sugars surprisingly. I think that will be very difficult since it seems like there’s some form of added sugar in everything these days. I’ve bought some benefiber single serving packets but I’ve been using stool softeners at the moment because thing have been really backed up. Sorry for the TMI. And my celebrate chewies don’t stay down so I’m taking the flintstones vitamins for the moment. I know that’s not good, but my surgeon told me that’s better than nothing and I could stay on them for the first two months. Do you track you micros and macros? Or are you mainly concerned with the protein, carbs, fluid and fat? And you can bet I’m going to keep trying to get in touch with the temp NUT. If I have to, I’ll march myself right down to the office in the hopes that she’ll be there! -
My inner nurse is coming out, and I want to provide a public service announcement to those of you who are about to have your surgeries. Remember that pain meds and anesthesia don't bode so well for your poor ole bowels. After you are done and headed home, have whoever is taking care of you get you some stool softeners. Take at least one per day, and don't let your bowels setup with concrete. I promise that it is impossible to strain to use the bathroom with the pains that will be in your bellies. I wanted to share the "tmi" so that you all can learn from my experience. I know i cant be the only one who has experienced this. 😖😖

Hi everyone! Surgery on Monday!
xx_Momo_xx replied to MelTed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@MelTed haha don’t worry it wasn’t TMI i have type two diabetes so it’s been difficult. My Doc isn’t going to want to give me Clomid until the 18 months is up. We’ve done everything but my weight was aslways a factor. I take my metfomin religiously!! Honeslty im hoping that I lose enough weight with this sleeve to kick PCOS in the booty and get pregnant all on my own. They surgery is great I’ve been having great numbers with my glucos testing! You will do great like I said ! Just afterward get plenty of rest because once you get up and go you don’t stop !! -

MelTed replied to MelTed's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Momo, let’s definitely keep in touch! How long ago did you have surgery? It will be so fantastic for you and your future family! I used clomid and metformin to get pregnant with my two, but I was terrified the entire time that something would happen because of my weight. I was SO lucky though... no high blood pressure, no diabetes, and full-term vaginal deliveries with both (sorry if tmi haha). I really am so excited for you!! -
Has anyone just randomly became lactose intolerant after surgery? I only drink fairlife milk because of the extra protein not because it doesn't have lactose. The other day I was out so I made my shake with regular milk and I used a little extra because i was going to be out for awhile. Long story short, I was sick that day, I drove past the last place I could use a bathroom (I live in a rural area) my stomach rumbled, I was maybe 8 miles from home, (warning TMI-) it happened, I wish I was wearing depends! I was in my husband's car too! What a mess! Wth? Milk never bothered me before, but according to the surgeon this is common (just not pooping your pants in your husband's car lol!) Yogurt and cheddar cheese are fine, (believe me, I can see Cabot cheese plant from my house) but ugh, seriously? Anyone else have a problem with milk randomly now?

VSG on 4/16/18: My journey
TexasMommy80 replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am now 2.5 months out and a stomach bug hit our family. My daughter had it first, and it lasted a full four days. I thought I would make it out without getting sick, but nope. Ya’ll, it was terrible. It was a full four days of not being able to eat or drink anything, nonstop vomiting or heaving, and watery diarrhea that was even worse (TMI). I honestly think it was the most sick I have ever been, considering how long it lasted. I started getting really weak and dizzy on Sunday so I had my mom take me to the ER while my boyfriend watched the kids. I was super dehydrated, which was no surprise. The doctor said that I was lucky that I did not pass out at home. My blood pressure was down to 109/60 and my heart rate when standing was 125. My normal blood pressure is usually a bit lower than 120/80, and my heart rate is usually in the 70s when standing. Anyhow, two bags of fluids later, and after my blood pressure went up a bit, they released me to go home. I feel better today but I am still somewhat nauseous and unable to eat or drink much. I luckily managed to get about 400 calories in today and about 40oz of water, but my stomach just can’t handle much right now. I think I will be pretty close to normal by tomorrow, so my goal tomorrow is to just drink all day. Anyhow, I weighed in this morning at 198, but won’t take an official weight until I have been better for a few days. -
Since we're on the TMI topic... I haven't noticed any change or increase in the stinkiness of poops or farts (lol) BUT my farts have been epically adjusted for maximum loudness!!! I'm talking like a tank / squeaker / foghorn / longest trombone solo ever!! It's so embarrassing I have to hold it in most of the day until I can guarantee no audience! haha. (No more silent but deadlies for this gal!) Anyone have anything similar? hahaha, I love this thread. *Also, I'd recommend trying keeping matches with you. Better than trying to mask an odor with a nice smell on top of a very stinky smell!

Not sure if it's just me (I'm pretty sure it's not) but pooping at work, post bypass is a crazy embarrassing event! I've had folks walk, in and then turn right around and leave thanks to the wonderful new smells I'm producing! So embarrassing! And it lingers think and heavy, like some cross between tear gas and smog, some unseen nasal assault team going full speed ahead attempting to cause gagging. I've recently decided to bite the bullet and buy some Poop-Pourri, just a little 4oz bottle to pocket and take with me to the can. I don't want to advertise or promote, but for what it's worth, it helped out greatly. A few times it didn't work as described, but it sure helped! I don't feel super ashamed leaving the toilet now! Figured we could share some horror stories or other "Pooping at work" related tidbits / tips/ tricks etc

Are you happy with your sleeve
GastricSleeve2018 replied to Sassytallgurl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm back again. I am getting all my fluids in, pooped (tmi but the best NSV right after surgery), walking around the block 1x a day, walking a lot in my house, etc. 198 lbs down from 220. Sleeved June 11th. I do not regret this one bit. I wish I would have cared more when I started getting fat. Alas, this is the best tool for weight loss. -
Hello! It’s been a long time since I have posted. I had the sleeve a couple years ago. I had juice this morning that I made - it had oranges, carrots, strawberries, apples and half of a beet. The juice was dark red. I drank about 8 ounces over the course of 30-45 minutes? Or so. Not long after that I had to go to the bathroom. It was red. I’m talking barely an hour later maybe. Urine has not been pink or red. I’m not sure if that would happen so quick? But I realize our digestion is probably a little different.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
nurse4126 replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did get one shot of lovenox. I then proceeded (this may be tmi) to have quite the rectal bleed. I feel Ike it had something to do with the hefty dose of Cymbalta I take. 90 mg. I refused the second lovenox. I’m a nurse and I was already bleeding all over the place! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies Check In Here!
ALFxRNY replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a hysterectomy and have to take estrogen vaginally (sorry, TMI!). I wonder if I will have to do the same? You can always call your surgeon/surgeon’s office up and ask about it. Nothing wrong with finding out if it’s a possibility. Safety first right?
