  1. As of today I'm six weeks post op for my Mini Gastric Bypass. Definitely hasn't been an easy ride (with two stalls), but hasn't been terrible either. Except for a week ago when I started getting increasingly frequent discomfort in the stomach region. It would feel similar to the pain of gallstone attack, and would wake me up at night, and give me the odd bout of nausea. I've not been able to eat - just my protein shake/water and supplements, and those don't feel great going down either. So I visited my surgeon yesterday and he thinks it's likely the development of an ulcer/s and accompanying swelling at the intestinal join site, so I'm on Salpraz to see if that's the culprit. I was worried I was developing a stricture, so this is definitely a better alternative! I had been on Salpraz post-op for my previous GERD, and had finished the course about two weeks ago, so... it sounds the likely culprit. Mind you I had NO reflux or sign of reflux, so this was a bit of a sneaky attack that got me unawares. Eating hasn't been easy for me post-op anyway, but it's currently ridiculous. Looking forward to this improving so I can at least do more than sit on a glass of water when my partner and I go out! Worth mentioning that I still regret nothing! Even though it's been a little rough and the "honeymoon period" seems to be running late.
  2. Hey Guys I’m just about 3 weeks post op and I think I’m already stalling. Could this even be possible, I was on a nice decent down, I had the gastric sleeve on October 7th. I’m just worried because I’m considered smaller client before surgery… this is a real stall already.
  3. I had the gastric bypass on Oct 12. Ive lost 10lbs since then & havent lost anymore. I feel like I might be doing something wrong? I’ve read so much about people not meeting Protein goals due to feeling full/restriction, which I dont feel. I’m currently able to eat 3-4oz meals & I feel like maybe its too much? Like I shouldnt be able to eat so much, so soon after surgery. I’m eating slowly, taking time between each bite & I wait the 30 mns after my meal to drink Water. However, I don’t feel any restriction and I don’t feel full(I dont feel hungry either, but I eat to reach my protein goals). Should I be able to eat this much so soon out of surgery? Am I eating too much & that’s why I haven't lost any more weight? Is there something I should do differently? *I was cleared to eat eggs, flaky fish, & tuna. & I eat every 3-4hrs, & once I meet my protein goal, I focus on my water & don’t eat more. For reference

  5. Hi all, How did everyone feel their 3rd week post op? How soon did people get back to work, part time or full time? I tried going back to work this wee after 2 weeks off. I could barely last half a day and one day was very ill and didn't clock in at all. I don't know if I caught a stomach bug from one of my family members or if I tried something that triggered it. Also, all week my mouth tastes metallic. I thought maybe it was ketosis until I was sick for a day. I had a LOT of acid. I was really surprised at what I had to come up for the low amount of liquid and food I'm getting. My water intake this week has been terrible and I think it's the taste in my mouth just making me uninterested. I'm on Pepcid Complete and started taking a broken up Nexium. I also have 2 tums a few times a day but not a fan because I don't want to cause kidney stones. I had a low fever the day I wasn't able to keep much down. No pain other than where I know stitches are. Wondering if this is common or an issue. Trying to avoid the... "I tried something I shouldn't have" convo with the doctors office. Thank you!
  6. Hi all, I’m three months out from my sleeve. I lost 46 pounds and feel so grateful but now I’m stuck!!! I haven’t lost a pound in three weeks! Is this normal? Please tell me it’s not😩
  7. Had my surgery a few days ago. Am having a REALLY hard time consuming the liquids I need. I mostly have water or watered down minute made zero juice. Since my surgery. I've only hit an average of 15 oz of water each day! Anyone else having this issue? Tomorrow is my full liquid diet transition, since it'll be my 4th day post op, so, I'm hoping things will be better. I do have an issue with drinking my oz of water, but it being pretty uncomfortable for me. Feels like there's a little ball there that burns a little...kinda makes me scared to drink. 8. I created a blog entry with the same content below here, but I feel like no one ever reads BP blogs, so am posting in the forums for good measure. Sorry for the dupes! Also sorry this is so long! ---------------------- It's been 3 years, y’all. I’m a 5’2” female and was 235 lbs & 45 yrs old at the start of the 2 wk liquid diet. Didn’t lose any weight prior. I was on high cholesterol and blood pressure meds, diagnosed with fatty liver, pre-diabetic, peed every 20-30 mins, and snored like a freight train (so said Mr.) Day of sleeve surgery: 223.2 lbs No recovery issues, but I became dumper on sugar (still am). I got off my meds, eliminated liver and diabetic diagnoses within a month. I can hold my pee like a superhero (including not having to go once during a 9 hr flight pre-covid!), and I sleep so silently that Mr. admitted to checking on me during the night in the beginning to check if I was even alive. I ate VERY little during weight loss phase compared to most, but it worked for ME…I didn’t suffer any medical/nutritional issues nor any angst throughout. I tracked everything I ate/drank, weighed myself every morning and took my measurements every Wednesday (I STILL track and weigh daily - its just habit now -, but no longer take my measurements regularly) Reached goal of 127 lbs 7 months after surgery. I had zero stalls. I had a tummy tuck, arm lift and breast lift at 14 months post op. Lowest weight: 109 lbs (this was a month or so after plastics, but quickly gained back to 115-ish) I’ve basically been 115-ish +/- 5 lbs since a couple months into maintenance. Weight this morning: 116.0 lbs even. Happy place is below 120 and/or that my clothes still fit, LOL. These days I exercise semi-regularly, running minimum 5km 2-3 times a week supplemented with the occasional 20-30 min strength training sessions at home (I continue to hate strength training exercises but consider it a necessary evil), and various other for-fun cardio activities. Part of me wanted to get back to higher exercise levels so I can get the “fitter” look I had back then, but I long ago reconciled myself with the fact that I don’t want it THAT badly. Maybe someday I may change my mind, but I’m cool with it for now. I average 1800-2000 cals a day. I drink alcohol and carbonated water on the regular, use straws, chew gum, drink coffee, and eat popcorn, fried foods and carbs. I love desserts. At 3 years out, my restriction is still in effect and could probably eat about 1-1.5 cups of food in volume at one sitting before I need to tap out: some things I can eat more of (salads) than others (dense protein & fluffy bread). I will barf if I eat too much or too fast. I have energy for days, and am more than satisfied with how I look and feel. Life is good. Had my 3 year follow up last week and I continue to be the picture of health, and my surgeon asked again if I wanted to be on a poster. Ummmm, no thanks. Regrets? ABSOLUTELY ZERO. Well, except maybe that I didn’t get a v-shaped tummy tuck incision vs the straight line one that I got. Just means that I can’t wear higher cut bikini bottoms without my scar showing (see the last pic in the collage below). But I mean, really, I’m just nit-picking at this point. This forum has been a constant in my life for the past 3 years, and I’ve made some great connections and some actual REAL friends. Its really nice to engage with others who know what the eff you are talking about, even if its just about food porn and clothes sometimes, lol. Hugs and Congrats to those who made it to the other side with me, and Hugs and Good Luck to those on their way.

  10. Hi Everyone, I had RNY surgery on Oct, 13th, 2020, so I am just over the 12 month post op mark. I notice my weight loss has slowed down a lot, and around the 8-9 month post op mark, I have stalled and I am not loosing any weight. I know this is normal but still worried that my body has reached it's set point. If anyone here has experienced this, let me know. I seem to have gained a pound each month and my weight is back up to the weight it was when I was at 9 months post op. I have lost 100lbs since surgery, but still have around 60 lbs. to go to reach my goal weight. Should I be worried? ( I will be speaking to my Bariatric clinic soon for my 1 year appointment so I will be talking to them about this) All advice and opinions welcomed. Thanks 😀
  11. For Week/Phase 3; is spaghetti with Veggie pasta noodles okay???? Im seriously craving spaghetti...... Surgery date was 10/11/21 Sent from my LM-Q730 using BariatricPal mobile app
  12. I’m 3 weeks post op RNY. What foods did you start eating at this time??
  13. Hello, I am new to the group but I had gastric sleeve surgery on 9/30 and was told I could start soft foods 3 days ago and I did try to but I was afraid I would rip my staples so I sort of stopped and went back to doing shakes. I do try to eat a few bites of mash potatoes but get full instantly. I am so scared of causing a leak and not sure if the way I am feeling it normal. Im not in pain although I do get the occasional nerve pinches and twinge here and there. Anyone else like this?
  14. Hi all, I had gastric sleeve on 23 September 2021. I have had stomach pain all day. It is a pretty sharp cramp. Called my doctor's office and they said just take the mylanta and famotadine and see if it settles. I had beans last night, mashed in the food processor. could this be just bad gas pain? Mind you, I had plenty of gas last night from the beans, does this mean no more beans for me? that my stomach is rejecting this particular food. I have had canned refried beans and no pain, but yesterday I made a pot myself and put them in the food processor.
  15. I'm 3 almost 4 months out from my surgery and my stomach hurts all the time. It's achey and makes my back ache too. Has anyone else had this? How did you deal with it? I'm going to call my surgeon on Monday but I'm hoping for some help before then because this is miserable. TIA! 💙
  16. HW 303 SW 295 CW 259 I’m worried 😟. I’m 3 weeks post op and I’m alarmed at the amount of food (phase 2 puréed stage ) I’m able to eat. I keep reading how most people can only have a few bites of food and drink and feel miserable. I on the other hand can eat two packets of oatmeal (full 🍚 bowl) and 2 SF Jellos. Worried they didn’t cut our enough stomach or that this won’t work for me.
  17. Hey I was wondering when did you guys eat fried food, noodles, rice, pasta been having cravings like crazy and my doctor doesn’t help
  18. Have my gastric sleeve surgery scheduled for October 25, I lost over 50 pounds dieting up until this point . Just started my 2 week pre op liquid diet . I'm am obsessing over having penne vodka with chicken ONE more time before it's time . Surgery 11 days away . Will ONE meal truly affect me 11 days from now if it's the ONE and ONLY time ? Thoughts ? I'm dying over here 😩😩😩

    3 weeks post op

Hi! I’m new here, and new to this lifestyle. I had surgery September 21, 2021 (Hiatal hernia repair, VSG, and gallbladder removed). I had moderate pain discomfort a few days after surgery but then felt great until 2 days ago. On Friday I started having diarrhea (more than 5 times a day). That continued through this morning. I know diarrhea is common after such surgeries, but is it normal to take so long and to last so long? It’s been hard but I feel like I’ve kept myself minimally hydrated to compete with the diarrhea. I have started to struggle getting in my protein shakes and puréed food literally is turning my stomach. Is this normal? I'm not in “pain”, my incisions look great, I’m not running a fever.
  20. I'm almost 30 days shy of being 3 years post rny gastric bypass. I've recently started having right upper quadrant pain. It's not severe or acute, but it's uncomfortable and nearly constant. It is sort of under my ribs and it kind of wraps around to my back around my shoulder blade on the right side. I think it could be my gallbladder but food doesn't seem to make it worse. I'm wondering how common internal hernias are 3 years after surgery. Google is no help because everything I look up is geared towards licensed, well educated medical professionals, which I am not lol...and I should know better than to go to Google anyway. It's been going on for close to a week. Urgent care visit on Tuesday showed normal CBC, Urinalysis, and comprehensive metabolic panel. It's now Thursday and I don't see my primary care until Monday. Wondering if I should visit the ER if this far post op there's a real possibility of internal hernia? Or should I try to get in touch with my surgeon? Or just hold out until my PCP appointment on Monday afternoon and pray nothing else happens.
  21. Hello all, I waited a while to post this and just left the doctors (and I’m a little frustrated) so I finally decided to reach out via the forums. I am eight weeks postop and I have been dealing with constant but random bouts of nausea for three weeks now. They do not coincide with eating. They happen before I’ve even eaten anything and sometimes even directly after eating things. The best I can describe it as is a hunger pang. I am on omeprazole and have been for the entire time and that fact alone made my doctor almost completely rule out an ulcer or anything like that in my actual stomach. They thought it was gall stones maybe, but the ultrasounds came back negative and I’m not having sharp shooting pains, I’m just having radiating hunger pangs - The kind of nausea that you get when you haven’t eaten anything. I feel these randomly throughout the day including just plain nausea, gas and have had light color stools sometimes. The doctor put me on a stronger PPI but told me we can do an endoscopy if it doesn’t work so I am just waiting. Has anyone else experienced something like this? It is really putting a damper on my life, I am constantly interrupted with any good mood by queasiness. My next instinct is to assume that maybe I am just very dehydrated? I have been struggling since the beginning to get enough water in, so maybe that is it. I am scheduled for a appointment with my primary doctor on Tuesday, but any help or tips would be appreciated while I wait for the doctors to figure it out.
  22. Today, I am officially one week and a day post-op. The first 2-3 days by far were the worse and even caused me to have “buyer’s remorse”. But for anyone thinking about surgery, do it! It gets a little easier each day. You do have to learn to be patient with how your body initially reacts to anything you ingest. Is the diet post-op boring? Absa-freaking-lutely! But I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thus far, I have lost 15 lbs, I am astonished. Those 15 lbs have allowed me to drop a size to a 16. I haven’t been able to get down to that size since 5 years ago, before I had my first child. Everyone has those shorts or clothes that you hang on to because you are determined to fit back into them. This week my NSVs were fitting into two pairs of shorts I have been hanging onto. I am so happy! Another NSV (TMI topic) is that I am fully back to being “regular” on my BMs, makes me feel a little more normal since it took about 4 days after surgery to have one.
  23. Doing to much protein can make you gain weight? Because I gain 3 pound one day and I’m so frustrated 😭🥺 I did a hard work to be in 220 😭😭
