So now that I've lost 92lbs I have no solid breast tissue. I have the hardest time buying bras. I bought some beautiful bras from VS that fit great. The problem is after wearing them a few hours my breasts just fall. I would love breast implants but who can afford that lol. Does anyone have any suggestions. I know it's sort of TMI but it's so frustrating.

How are you getting to 1000/1200 cals a day?
sarahbellzz14-4 replied to AlaskaGirl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I check labels. Which has More protein but fewer calories, I've been eating lean cuisines for lunch, My big thing is my sodium intake, so I check for low fat, low sodium High protein. I tried to drink a protein shake the other day and threw up the entire contents of my stomach (TMI I'm sorry) but undigested breakfast was with it. I've been cooking dinner mostly every night, and In my house it's difficult, My son, you can give the kid a lb of lard and he will only metabolize 2% of it. Skinny as a rail. The DH, develped a little gut over the winter (works a seasonal job, so his arms look fantastic but the pooch has gone nowhere) and then there's me, who can not eat a thing. So back to my point, Just label check... -
Well, I leave tomorrow for San Diego and yesterday I came home sick from work with intense nausea. I work in a pre school and two of the children had the stomach bug so... I went home and spent the day in bed, so close to vomiting. Nothing worse and I thought am I ready to do this drastic surgery and will I feel the same way post op. Today much better but have the (tmi) issues the other end. Surgery not until friday and feel I should be ready. All you "losers" please keep us in your prayers! Good luck all you December sleevers!

seriously considering lap band surgery
mtnman428 replied to shadowland's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh that's cool...it's such a small state. I'm from Warwick. I started researching LB in December or January 08'. I was working and pretty sure that my health coverage was going to cover it. I went to a free (mandatory for Dr. Pohl) 3 hour seminar on Valentine's Day. It was very helpful. Before I could proceed I lost my job and health coverage! So I too became a self-pay, and that is when I decided on Mexico and Dr. Ortiz. I had watched him on Oprah, then started researching him and Dr. Rumbaut (because at 1st I was very skeptical of Mexico surgery). I also bought and read his book, Lap Band For Life. After months of research and scraping together money (credit cards!), I called and spoke with Carolyn (patient coordinator) for about an hour and a 1/2 with tons of questions. We spoke a couple times, then in mid June I booked it for 7/24/08. I left myself time for the 2 week pre-op diet. Now, yay, it is already done (the band insertion anyway)! The price is $7950 for a private room and $7700 for a semi-private room. These prices include pick-up and drop off at the San Diego airport and 3 day stay at the Hotel Lucerna. The only other thing that I really had to pay for was the airfare ($506). I can't really answer the food part too much, as I am still on liquids. I just started on full liquids actually, last night. One thing that people were right about, so far though is that when you get your period (sorry-TMI) you do get more of a full/tight/bloated feeling. I didn't even want to have my 1/2 cup of tomato soup last night, so I saved it til about 4 hours later!!! :cool2: Other than that, not too many problems. I've had a few minor concerns and questions that I've emailed Dr. Ortiz about. Haven't had much pain, just some slight discomfort/soreness at times. Also at first I had none of the CO2 gas pains in my shoulder because I was walking (site seeing) all around Mexico since the day after surgery until I left. When I got home I took it too easy and didn't go for a walk for 2 days, then I felt the gas pains in my left shoulder, so now I have been walking (slow-2.7-2.9mph) on the treadmill everyday for 30-35 minutes, and take gasx to keep the gas away! Hope this helps! -
Hey everyone, Most of you know about my saga - of the either never fixed slipped band or the twice slipped band. I have an appt on Aug 6th - I figured it wasn't an emergency. Everynite I take 3 different reflux meds and sleep propped up on 3 pillows just to get some sleep. A couple times a week, I cough up a mouthful of stomach acid, run and spit it in the bathroom sink. Last nite, I slept pretty well till 4:30 am. I was awakened by a mouthful of acid when I coughed. Ran into the bathroom and spit it in the sink. It was then followed by a good 2 minutes of vomiting acid (brown liquid that burns). Ok, here's the TMI part - if you're squeamish you might not want to continue. I vomited up a whole black bean. Not too weird, if I'd actually had a black bean in the last day or so. Had black Beans for dinner 4 nites ago. Not only was it weird to see a whole one in there (thought I was good at chewing my food), but also that I'd eaten them 4 nites ago (Monday nite). Last nite was probably the worst stomach acid I've had thus far. Brushed my teeth and went back to bed. Actually forgot about it today till a little while ago, when I told my husband what happened. He thinks I should call my dr's office. It's now a Friday nite and there's no one in the office on the weekend. It's not truly an emergency (at least I don't think). What do you guys think about finding food in my stomach from 4 nites ago? Shouldn't that have been passed by now? I remember taking a nutrition class in college and learning you digest your food in 24 hrs. Should I be concerned? Thanks! Marci PS: I'll try not to bother you guys about my stories of acid reflux for a while!

Question about Positive side effects
onelessfatgirl replied to JMS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for posting this! My knees have really become bothersome. They hurt even when I'm not using them. And (TMI) they have made my favorite sexual positions really painful. As a result of having unsatisfying/embarrassing moments of intimacy I've been emotional and felt bad about myself. My partner has been super understanding and supportive. But, one of my main fears is that my knees will still be problematic and hinder me from a lot of physical activities. I'm glad to hear that knee pain has resolved for some other sleevers. -
Question about port and what it looks like on your belly...
Kat817 replied to KMEArnold's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told that no question ask in seriousness is silly!!! I have a low profile port. The two times I have had fills, it was a little harder to find. I am down almost a hundred pounds now, and if you feel for it, it is there, but it is not visible from the outside, nor do I rub against it without trying to. Originally the port was just below and to the left of my biggest scar, which is about an inch and a half....and is just left of center, about 6 inches below my breasts. The port itself has not moved, but the scar is now well below the port itself, as I have lost weight, the skin sagged some, and now the scar and the port are no longer positioned together. I seldom feel my port without doing so intentionally. It may be TMI, but occasionally I feel pressure on it, in certain sexual positions---but a quick shift and all is well, it is not in the way, nor is it unsightly. There used to be a thread of incision pics......look for scar under the search tab, and I bet you could find it!!! Welcome to LBT----good luck on yoru research, this is an awesome site to look around and learn!! Let us know if we can help in any way! Kat -
Ok what the heck.. I just started on pureed foods today. I've been on liquids for the past three weeks. This morning before I ate anything I went to weigh myself and there is was 3lbs more than 3 days ago. Where the heck did those come from?? Anyways so I called the Dr's office and was told to watch my liquid intake (?) because I may be retaining Water. (?) Not to mention (and this maybe a little TMI) I'm constipated!!! Haven't "gone" GOOD in 3 days. I told the nurse and the dietitian this and they agreed the weight could be coming from there. They advised me to drink some Fiber powder drinks and instead of 3 regular meals have 5-6 small meals. Meals? wow the word itself sounds strange to me. 3lbs..I still can't believe it!!!
-
My guess would be, hopefully, dietary issues. Not to ask TMI, but are you gassy or constipated or the opposite? Have you tried gas-x? I hope this is the simple answer! I really doubt its the band itself because it is at the top of your stomache. Feel better soon and let us know how you made out with your tests/doctors!
-
Sorry if it's a bit TMI for some, but i'm curious... did the band affect you period at all? did your it get heavier/lighter, more/less regular? How about PMS?
-
I actually resumed ummm 'bedroom activity' 3 days post op and everything was fine. Hope it isn't TMI, but being on top for the next couple of weeks is definitely a good idea

Oh how I wish the solution was just to change the time I take it! I have daytime post-nasal drip as well, sometimes quite bad. And right after I got sick with the mono (which lasted about 6 mos!!), my doctor put me on a steroid nose spray and Advair. They disturbed my sleep, made me extremely irritable, and eventually led to HALLUCINATIONS. Yep, that's right, steroid psychosis from 2 totally normal medicines that many people combine. Somehow during all this crap, I've become incredibly sensitive to chemicals I used to be able to tolerate just fine. It blows. I will try that! The nose sprays REALLY help the swelling but the other side fx have been intolerable. I had a bunch of swelling removed from inside the sinuses, and the deviated septum, and bone removed to hopefully improve drainage. I think polyps are not IN the sinuses, are they? Did they pack your sinuses? Cuz that was the part that was terrible. My sinuses and nose were completely packed for 2 weeks, swallowing was much worse than anything I experienced with WLS because my head was so blocked up that swallowing created pressure pops and stuff would come back up. TMI but *shudder* that is what I am afraid of going thru again!

I am so with you! My doctor said it is kind of like a yeast infection. It is a result of my excess skin, and it is basically collapsing around my belly button. It gets no air, or any way to breathe, so it gets infected. And, I know, TMI, but it stinks!!! She told me to document it though, as they may help towards eventually getting a tummy tuck under "medical necessity".

Everyone is different. I had RNY on Jan.28 and I throw up at least 3-5x a day. Surgeon said it was ketones and eventually it will pass. Almost all day I'm nauseous and I dry heave and gag. For me it's not an immediate vomit (tmi) more of a "you feel it coming" and it's only foam and slimy saliva. It sucks because I can't go many places. Threw up earlier today at a high school fair with my son. I wanted to stay but I couldn't and cried all day. I hope you're one of the ones that don't go through this. SD:1/28/13 HW:358 SW:338 CW:297

Lying here eight hours post surgery...
Susan33 replied to ThreeCrows's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Cat,Mb, and Anaxila. I have type2, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I know the gb isn't a magic cure and that I need to change my eating and activity habits forever. I don't want to say tmi but I need help. I have tbi(traumatic brain injury) with short and long term memory loss from getting hit by car. So I don't understand things right away. My thing is I just need help on what I should eat and workout info. I have gym in apartments and I do the,leg weightlifts and arm weights(3 diff ways), bike for bout 20 min and elliptic for bout 5. Should I be doing more? Any info anyone has I'd appreciate. Thank you. -
When it happened to me it was mostly mucus and saliva. This happenes because there is no where for these fluids to go. If your band is to tight nothing can get through. The same if something gets stuck, which is what happened to me. I was the victim of a stubborn Vitamin and puked for 2 hours. You will know when you are to tight or if something is stuck just by the way your saliva or anything else feels when it tries goes down. I am not sure about anyone else, but it wasn't projectile for me. I know, TMI, but different things happen to different people. You will also find that the same things happen to different people. We share symptoms. That is one of the many great things about this site. You will hear lots of advice from everyone and get terrific support as well. Good luck!

So I have had a couple of instances of eating too quickly or not chewing enough and i suddenly get that stuck feeling. I have had one fill up to 5 ml. I begin to slime and spit up alot of spit. I run to the bathroom and suddenly I throw up. Not like I would do if I had a virus before the banding but it seems to be more than what I have read described as PB'ing. No burp, just a mild vomit. I am sure this is not good. It is never because I have eaten too much but it follows that stuck feeling. It seems more likely to happen as I begin to eat and not towards the end of a meal. Sometimes it seems to take 2 or 3 vomits for the food to release. I am not trying to do this it just seems to happen. I also seem to hiccup when this happens. Any thoughts out there about this. Am I having more agressive PB'ing than normal? Yesterday it happened after eating a piece of cucumber. I could just feel it sitting in there stuck.

I am 10 days post-op(VSG 12/08/15). I have been vomiting pretty much everything I've eaten for the past 4 days. I've called the surgeon's office and they said to focus on "staying hydrated". I am tolerating fluids alright, just having issues with foods. I've tried several different things, going through just about all the foods in my program binder for puréed stage. The ONLY thing my new tummy has tolerated so far(that I haven't thrown back up) is sliced cheese. I know it wasn't on my program until the 3rd stage(so technically I cheated), but after vomiting soooo much, my tummy needed something. Also, the diarrhea(sorry, TMI!). I get it, I'm hardly keeping anything solid down, but holy cow. Did anyone else have these issues? How did you handle them? Does anything help?

To Barf, Or Not To Barf?... That Is The Question.
ereneeh replied to sabrina140's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"The foam" is what we call slime. I had to look it up on VSGtalk to make sure nothing was wrong. If you eat too much, which isn't saying much, your stomach doesn't have room for the stomach juices that rush to break down your food. So, it just comes up. You have to eat SLOOOOOW. I take 30-40 min. to eat. But, if you take 1 bite too many, there just isn't room. I just use a cup and spit. I know TMI, but just being real. It will pass after 1/2 hr. Much easier than hurting. To me, it's not the same as throwing up, it is sliming! Hope this helps. -
I agree with Chez above that we do want the best for you. People's posts can be interpretted many ways in how you interpret ours and we interpret yours. Nonetheless, I think they are all well intended. Getting back to your original question.... unfortunately, or fortunately burping is very common. However, there are a few things you can do to help minimize it. If you use a straw for your beverages, you swallow a lot of air that way which can increase burping as can eating too fast. I recently was having a problem w/ gas (both ends, sorry tmi) and found out that from the weight I've lost already that my cpap (sleep apnea) machine needed to be turned down and that went away once it was. Also, as CG mentioned, sometimes those little burps/hiccups are a sign for many of us that we are full and to stop eating. Lastly, I am having a lot of tiny burps today and it's my band giving me issues today. Yesterday, at lunch, I had some chicken that was too dry and it caused me to have a bit of a stuck issue. Last night and today I am having a bit of the burps while my band/tummy settles down from being irritated yesterday. It's my sign it's still irritated and I need to keep it to liquids today. Best wishes to you... congrats on your success thus far.

Hi David! I too had surgery on 5/24/10. How are you doing? I think I am recovering as expected. I am mostly resting for now. Yesterday was worse than surgery day (I think all the anesthesia and numbing wore off) and then today was a little better than yesterday. I had a very large hiatal hernia repaired also. I did get the shoulder pain and the abdominal distention with gas, tho....tmi...sorry :smile2: Hope you do very well! Denise

Please help a long term bander-Slippage?
Mrs.Bales replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can't speak to the issue with Barium (sounds to me like an allergic reaction - but I'm not a Doctor) As for the other issue with digestion, constipation, bloating, gas, acid reflux and a general processing of food issue, I found a commercial product called Align (there are other names on the market) and found my own personal version of happy balance before I was banded. I tried the yogurts and other products and found this one does the trick for me. I now have normal bowel movements and no longer feeling like a loaf of bread is doing the tango in my intestines. TMI? sorry but if you know the pain and discomfort associated with IBS or any of the other digestion issues then you know what it's like to find some peace with food. One of my questions when researching the band is if I could continue to take Align - I don't ever want to go back to the way it was. I agree with the second opinion and questioning the doctor who thinks the band removal is going to work - especially if he doesn't know about or support the band.
