  1. you look amazing... I just have to ask what your daily routine is like. I was banded a week after you on 10/13 and have only lost half of what you have lost. did you lose a lot pre-op? After seeing you I'm starting to wonder what I'm doing wrong.

  2. Hey Karen dont lose your motivation. I hit the gym 5 to 6 times a week for 2 to 3 hours and I eat about a cup of food and light snacks. If you need anything, feel free to message me :) good luck on your journey. We are all here to support each other!

  3. Cool! I was suppose to wait another week for solids, but I couldn't take it. lol so I've been eating somewhat soft regular foods, and I'm feeling fine. I dont see my doc until mid-January for my fill. I'm really ready for it, because I want to be restricted, like full off of 4oz like they promised. haha

  4. Well if you are TriCare Prime - have all you ducks in a role! I have been fighting with Tricare for over 100 days now! Make sure you are well over 100 pounds, if you have any comorbities that have a perscription - make sure you are taking all you drugs and that it is documented and current and your bone structure is on record and Tricare has that. I am sick of dealling with these people my husband and my mom said they would go 1/2's on the surgery just to get it over with. In August I spent a week - going to the clinic and getting weighted and having my blood pressure check, all my meds re-ordered and then I sent everything back in. I got a letter on the 19th of December saying that I have to start all over - I bet they lost it all! Eventhough I sent it certified mail. Now I have their fax number and a phone number that is not posted!! I will call twice a week just to see if they need anything else.

I hope you have better luck than I have!

  5. Brenda i was just looking at ur pictures and i think you have done a great job so far. I commend you on that. I also read your blg and it seem as if you having trouble to loose a few more pounds first you have to be honest with yourself about your eating habits. Make sureits on track another thing to look out for is what you drinking make sure you are not drinking your calories. That can be easy to do at imes i find myself strungling with that. My next advice is to find you a real intense workout plan and stick with it atleast 3 days out the week. Keep me posted i would love to follow your process. Maybe we can help one another out. Good Luck and keep up the good job.

  6. Happy Chanukach!! Sorry,....didn't even know that you wrote back. Anyway, I had absolutly nothing before. I went in and talked to my doctor about it. She referred me to my surgeon and when I went to see him, that was when I made the decision to have it. I was placed on his waiting list. My first visit with him was on October 6th,and I got a call from his scheduler the first week of November and was scheduled for the 24th. I had pre-op at the hospital the week before, checked into the hospital the night before the surgery, and was wheeled in to the OR at 10:30 in the morning. They discharged me the next day at 12 noon. I boarded a bus and headed home to Eilat.

I was born and raised state side as well. I too have dual citizenship.

Have you had your surgery? Or at least is it scheduled? I had my first fill yesterday.......was interesting. Good luck and hope to hear from you soon.

  7. I hear you my weight has pretty much stayed the same but I get scared sometimes because I feel like I don't get full or I'm always hungry I think it's in my mind. Thank god I only have a little over a week. My best friend got banded in May so I see the difference in the amount of food you can eat. My doctor also let me go in the room with her to get a fill so I've seen that process too. I think she is a fill junkie too she has lost 80 pounds so far. So I also have a partner to help me through this process.

  8. oh lucky you, you only have a week of the pre-op diet! i mean, for me the first five days were the hardest, so the extra days on the end didn't phase me... but still, should be good. good luck doing it over christmas! i had over thanksgiving... so i feel like its just about as hard haha

  9. Hello Jessica,

Im not sure if this is how you do the private messages? I'm still trying to learn this website. Sorry I haven't wrote sooner. I have 3 children and we had a very very busy weekend.Do you have kids? The holidays are here and everything gets crazy. How have you been? Good I hope. I feel wonderful. Its amazing what food does to our bodies. I had some problems with my sugar last week, but we made a slight change in the diet and I have been fine since.I just weighed myself this morning and I was 242 lbs. I have lost 22 lbs all together and I couldn't be happier. How much have you lost? I start the pureed diet on Monday which is my birthday so I can't wait. You see your dr. first to see if you can start the pureed diet, right? Well I'm just blabbing on and on. I need to get my kids ready for school, so I will talk to you soon.Hope you are doing great.

    Have a great day

  10. Hi Anne! Just checking in to see how you're doing. I've been so careful with my eating, but have somehow managed to gain two pounds...it has to be water, can't understand it otherwise.

I know what you mean about having no restriction on my band--feel like it isn't even there. My family doctor checked me the other day and thought I was doing great...I've been putting Neosporin on my incisions and they look great.

I'm going to try to schedule a fill for the first week of January--hopefully that will jump start the losing process.

Let me know how you're doing.

    Liz

  11. Thank you for the picture comments, yeah my buddy (and my mom) was there from morning until i came out that afternoon. and i lost 28lbs but that's including the 2weeks pre-op diet also. so it took more like 4 weeks. i'm sure you know all about those darn liquid diets, you'll drop fast. but then it slows down after your fill. well you're looking fabulous yourself, how are things going ?

  12. Well in my experience of working out alot ect. I reccomend you to not do weight training right now cause it weighs more than fat that will be the reason your loseing inches instead of lbs.. Dont do in door exercises walk out side!!!!!!! You burn way more cause you work harder that way with out knowing it. I do reccomend u to work out only once a week with weights... Hows your dieting?? Hows your restriction? Maybe your eatting more than u think and you need another adjusment fill? I turned in my leave request for the surgery to my work. I have surgery Jan 20th so Im requesting the 22nd through 25th off I already have 20th and 21 scheduled of so that should be more than enough time to recoop?

  13. Hello

I have had my lapband since July 2007. I have been slow losing weight main because I still eat things I should. I had my last fill in July 2008. The last couple of weeks I have been experience horrible heart burn/reflux and trapped gas in my back. After I burp many times the back pain goes away but starts all over the next day. I will be going to the doctor this week. Does anyone have any suggestions for me that will help stop this pain.

  14. Hi Mc in Md,

I saw your stats and we are similiar in weight, height and age. I have my surgery Dec. 14 and I am 189 today @ 5' 1 1/2". I am 38 years old. I was wondering how long did it take you to reach goal? I am so excited to have it done. Do you have any advice to offer on what worked for you and what was the hardest to do? I plan on working out with weights 3 days/week and treadmill 3-4 days a week. Also, do you have any extra skin? I will prob need a tummy tuck because I have had 2 c-sections. Thanks for sharing your info.

  15. Too funny, I'm from the Mexia/Groesbeck area. How long has it been since you were in the Mexia area? we are not far apart in age, Im 47. I bet we know each other, or at least the names. Melissa Haney ring a bell?

I will give Dr. Garwood a call next week and see if I can go in for a consult/visit, and see what he has to say.

  16. Thanks for the encouragement. Wow, 20 lbs. I hope I do that great. They didn't put me on a diet prior to the surgery. I was surprised. I've lost 6 lbs. so far. I started yogurt today, Alma said we could when we got home. I don't have that full feeling yet. I don't think he put any fluid in my band. Guess it has to wait for swelling to go down. I really don't want to mess this up, but I'm hungry some of the time. Will just take a while to get used to this and then I will get my fill in 6 weeks. Write me.

  17. I get mushie foods in a week and then after a week of mushie I can start eating regular foods. My first fill is not until Dec 29 so I should be good for Christmas. And listen 10 pounds lost is good. It beats the heck out of 10 pounds gained. I think if your band has slipped you would have some other types of symptoms. At least I would hope so anyway. The way my doctor explained it to me is without fills there is little to almost no restriction. But I don't know all doctors are different.

  18. lol....wow...I can't believe that I had a message on here from you. It was way over a month ago. Things are going well with me....well for the most part. I stayed the same this past week....but I guess that's good considering I had 2 separate Thanksgiving dinners. How are things going with you?

  19. Hi there Kim! Time is flying by, In less than 2 weeks your new journey begins, I am so excited for you! It is so worth it, I am really glad that I chose to have it done. I'm sure with Christmas and everything else you are quite busy. Hope you are doing well.

  20. Hello Terry. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. I am going to do this. I had a long talk with myself last night and today is a the beginning of a whole new life. My sister wouldn't want me to waste time grieving and getting bigger, she'd want me to live and enjoy life. So here it goes.

My doctor is Dr. Upadhyay (looks like I spelled it wrong again but I got the spelling from Alta Bates literature) lol. I did the H. Pylori test today and have an appointment with my Pulmonologist so he can clear me for surgery. I'm getting closer and becoming excited. Well you take care and I'll talk to you soon gonna get on the eliptical trainer it's been a couple of weeks so hopefully I'll be able to do at least 20-30 minutes.

  21. How are things going for you since surgery? I am doing well, I went for my 2 week follow up appointment today and everything looks good. Begin mushy foods today too. Keep me posted on your progress.

  22. How's it going? Just thought I would check in and see how you are doing? I am doing well, sometimes I am a little sore on my left side but getting around good. I went for my 2 week check up today and changed to the "mushy" food stage. Hope everything is going well for you.

  23. Hello... I am new to this forum and have a few questions... I just got the lapband a week ago... and I have fill questions. When it is time for a fill is it better to have the doctor use a xray or not? How do they know when enough is put into the band?

    Thanks

  24. Hi, Chelsbels, I thought so. Finally figured it out when I went to her site. Hello, and good luck!! Hope you bug the insurance company next week and get some answers. Sometimes we need to do a bit of self-help. Sue is FANTASTIC, but she can only move them along so fast. :)

  25. Hi! Yes, I am getting "the band" Dec 16th too!!!!!! Barely 2 weeks...wow, time is just flying by. I was reading your profile and see that you are a photographer, so am I ! What type of photography do you enjoy?
