  1. You're doing great. Don't give up, and get frustrated. Stalls are normal, just breathe and let the weight come off. Exercise, get your fluids, and stay within your dietary guidelines and you will succeed.

  2. Great job on the weight loss. Girl... keep it up.

Yes, I am getting excited as each day grows closer.

I saw my surgeon again yesterday and everything is a GO.

Keep me posted as well baby girl. Ciao.

    Deb

  3. I'm so happy about your news! Believe me when I say both surgeons at Harbor City Kaiser believe in this surgery and want to help everyone who needs it. My husband is 185 lbs. and has diabetes and asked both surgeons at the seminar in June if they would do the surgery on someone like him who is only 30 lbs. over weight and both surgeons said YES! I will say a prayer for you that everything comes together quickly :-).

  4. Deb

I had my weight in tonight, and lost another 2lbs so that is 4 now. I was so happy I thought I was going to gain. That makes me feel better.

Thanks for the encouragement, some days are better then others. Sometimes I'm actually happy it was postponed(NOT), but I tell myself that so I can become more knowledgeable about the surgery and what I will need to do before and after the surgery.

Your surgery is coming up soon, are you excited???? Make sure you keep me posted on how things go so I know what I have to look forward too. I love this forum, I actually have made more cyberfriends here then I have real friends in person where I have lived for 4 years now. lol I have a smile on my face 2lbs down yippee.

  5. Yes I am very excited. I am sooo busy that time is going by so quickly! I still can't believe its really happening!!! Yayyyyyy!!!! I wish it were sooner BUT it gives me time to lose weight! My surgeon asked me to try and lose so I'm happy it's still a month away :-)!!!

  6. Hey sweetie and thank you! I don't feel like I'm melting but I know it is a good pace! I have carried the weight my whole life but yes I'm 27 so I'm sure that does help. I haven't been tracking the past couple weeks but when I was, my carbs were anywhere from 35grms-60grms a day. I haven't really changed what I'm eating so that's probably where it's at. I honestly don't think lack of carbs is a huge deal, but having ENOUGH protein is. I was really slow going for a few weeks and then I started adding a protein shake back in and poof 6 lbs in 8 days. I think it is helping a lot. Gave me a little more energy too.

  7. Thanks I'm still going to have it I just have to go through a VA hospital. The only thing I have to do that this VA requires, and my surgeon did not was to lose 10 pounds on a supervised diet like weight watchers. So I'm joining next week, and was thinking about doing a preop diet so I can lose my ten pounds quickly. lol THanks for the encouragement, and I have to keep my faith otherwise I would not of made it this far. I wish I could just self pay but being a single mother that lives from pay day to pay day it is out of the question. It will happen I just don't know when, and it is not going to be fast enough for me.

  8. Hi Mereteri,

Greetings from Munich Germany. You must be stationed in Ft. Hood? Thats a First Cav patch on your husbands shoulder. I graduated from Copperas Cove High school, way back when, my dad is retired USArmy. I hope your husband is safely home or safe where ever he is. I am interested in the Sleeve as well, had the LapBand a few years ago, it slipped after a year, bummer, weight is back, bigger bummer and big bum. Hating me at the moment. I am headed to Cove in August til September 13, may try to get it done while home. My 16 year old will attend Cove HS now, she's been in German schools, time to reconnect. Where are you getting it done? Darnell? That would be something if they offer that. I am looking at Mexico..or maybe the Czec Republic, but their websites are not up to date like the Mexicans. Well, write when you can. Good Luck... TexMUC in Munich

  9. Doctor Rodriguez was the attending and Dr Calderon was his assistant. Dr Solis introduced herself as the anesthetiologist and Dr Elmo was the Fluoroscopist. Each and everyone of them treated me like a special guest of honor. Then there was the genuiness of the care, you can tell they are really interested in your well beign, not just for the monetary benefits. I was browsing gastric sleeve online sometime in April when I can across Belite Weight and I sent them an email. Joyce Meyers (Pt Facilitator) responded to the email and we took it from there...honestly I was done with beign overweight! She worked with me even when I told her this procedure was an exception to my insurance policy. This was a personal decision for me even though my husband kept saying I still look good to him, but I want to be here to watch my baby grow and not just be here, but be here healthy and of a sound mind. And I didn't think gaining abt 20lbs a yr will do that for me. I'm here for you if you need me.

  10. Possomtrot,

I am a 52 yr old married lady. I have been overweight about 25 years now and have developed so many health related issues. I have read and read, researched, and tried to find out as much as I can. I am going to be a private pay...my state ( teacher) insurance will cover then band and the RNY but not this one... I feel that this is the very best fit for me.. I weigh 234 and am 5.5.... I find that the charts say I should weight about 130----which is 2 lb more than high school LOL! RIGHT I would be thrilled to be 150....I just want rid of my diabetes. They told us that the cost would be between 14 & 15..which I figured would be about the same if we traveled from here...I am an Instructional Supervisor for Harlan County Schools.. and that will be just after school starts back...I will be praying for you travel and surgery.. good luck and please lets keep in touch... I am at albalt@live.com. God Bless You and best wishes.

  11. Hey hunny don't feel bad about visiting the site as much I've slowed down alot, just don't have much time. I'm off protein supplements so I get what i need from food now and I'm doing well with that. Honestly I am really bad about taking my vitamins, I know I have to take them to stay healthy but I can't seem to remember them some days. I have started to set an alarm on my phone to help me remember. Surgery for me was great the first 3 days I was like man this (ish) is not cool but by the 5th day I felt fine. Like most people on this site yes I would do it again in a heart beat. I have not hit the gym yet still just walking and doing my wii fit. I can tell that I need to tone up my arms have deflated and my skin is starting to hang. That doesn't bother me though I loved my body before. I had surgery to jump start healthy living. But I would like to be tighter and not so flappy (lol). Have you lost any weight pre-op? Do you have a date scheduled?

  12. Sincerely wishing you the best in your Weight Loss Journey!

  13. Thank you for your support! I need all the friends that I can get. I feel like a new person. My wife is very supportive of my weightloss because she has also been down this road. My goal is to get back to my highschool graduation weight of 185lbs. It is a lofty goal but very attainable. I hope you hit your goal soon. Thank you, 1SunMoney

  14. wow.. your amazing.. Listen for the past week . my weight loss has stop it goes up a lb, then down a lb. its crazy because AI always watche what I eat and walk and doo aerobics and swim atleast once a week, I sometime burn more calories than I eat. I only eat 800- 1200 cal per day. I think I get all my protein. what can I do to get me moving again. its only been 8 weeks now..but I am so tired of still being FAT!!!! i know its a mental thing but I want this stuff gone.

  15. Hey Missy Carolyn,

Thanks for the nice comments. I look baggie, too, and not happy about that, but comes with the territory of major fast weight loss. I've also had a piriformis muscle issue on the left glute that's bugging the sh*t out of me, painful. Doc says due to the weight loss. I'll go back to Mexico to get rid of all the hanging skin - Dr. Bell0 - already got the quote. Just waiting for my DH's job situation to settle before I set a date. I don't get in nearly the protein I should be; my calorie count is still very low, though, and I have 8 pounds to goal. I drink my protein drinks maybe 2X a week.

  17. Yeah, I have heard that the more you have to loose the more that comes off at first... Wish that was my case... I just get discouraged so easy and when I started gaining some back it really hit... Hopefully soon it will start loosing again... Good Luck! :0)

  18. For the first time in my life I really could see some light in the Tunnel of this weight loss battle.......

  19. It's probably water retention. When I was obese, the only way I could not retain water is to consume around 90-100 ounces of water per day. 64oz was just enough, but for me to get the kidneys kicking and filtering better, I had to increase the water intake. It was tough, but I managed it.

I would definitely check with you PCP and have some labs pulled to ensure there is not an underlying cause for the weight gain.

I am not sure if this could affect your weight loss.

Best wishes on getting your date.

  20. Hey Tiff

I always check what you have to say and research, I have not got my date set yet probably around Sept. Oct. I have started trying to drink my 64 oz of water and when I do I gain 4-11 pounds in that day

I even have tried to take lacix (sp) water pills and I still gain. I wopndering is this going to effect my weight loss after surgery. just some imput please. I am also going to make an appointment with my PCP.

    Thanks

    Marsha

  21. Hey.. haven't seen you post in a while. Last I heard your stall had just broken. Hows the weight loss coming? Are you still loosing? I've been in a stall for 10 days and am about to pull my hair out!!!!

  22. Hi!

I'm doing great. Horribly busy, rarely on VSG anymore - just don't have the time lately. Just a few pounds from goal, working out hard at the gym, but not making great food choices so probably why I'm not AT goal. Most importantly, I'm living life the way I want, and still slowly losing weight. Now more interestingly, how are you managing post-op? How much weight loss so far? Are you handling "real" food okay? Are you lovin' your sleeve?

    Linda

  23. I am so excited/worried/anxious, etc. about my surgery! It's scheduled for 6.08.10 and I couldn't be more ready. I am 22 years old and I've been doing the same old yo-yo with going up and down in weight. My mom has been trying to convince me to do this for about 3 years now and I've finally come around. I'm ready to start living my life the way I've wanted to. I'm so tired of people saying to me, "You have such a pretty face"...like in other words saying (if only you had the body to match). I can't wait guys!

  24. Thanks for the encouraging response to my blog. It helps a lot to know that it does get better. I think my biggest fear is that my metabolism will get slooowwwer and slllooooowwwwwer with eating such a small amount food and that I will quit losing. Your weight loss has been great, and is definitely an inspiration!
