  1. I was sleeved 8/24...after a TWO WEEK stall...I am down to 312 lbs!!!!!!!!!! I started at 346 pre op and 331 dos. I am eating around 800 calories a day give or take a 100 calories. I am sooooooo happy to be done with purees, Soups and all that!!! I am eating pretty much what I want PROTIEN first...I have had a cookie but couldn't eat more than one (that is just funny coming from me who could eat 10 before) It seems like I'm eating ALL DAY LONG...but I'm good. Sometimes I think I'm eating too much when I go over 800 calories but then I think I should be eating (with a normal stomach) 1600 calories to lose weight. This has been the best thing I've done...my two week stall at 3 weeks was annoying but I got through it!!! MY SLEEVE ROCKS!!!!!!!!

    Update!

My story is similar to yours. I was sleeved on Aug 27 weight that day was 247. Two weeks out I'm at 223. I've been at this weight now for three days. I struggle to get my water in. I'm just moving into the purred stage and doing very well. I haven't been sick at all. Im disappointed that I seem to have stalled already. I meet with my nut tomorrow, looking forward to that. Mostly I'm scared that I want loose as much weight as I need to. I'm not sure where this fear comes from but I think it's from years of dieting and regaining. Good luck to you and me:)
  4. I lost a majority of my weight in the 1st 2 months, averaging between 2-4 lbs a day. I was also walking quite a bit and I think that helped. During the 3rd mon I have been hit by stall after stall. However, I am a man with a plan to ramp up the exercise! I have lost about 100 lb so far so it is time to kick my BMR in the rear and tell it to get moving.

    So Disappointed :-/

Your weight can change from day to day. Mine has changed from 5 lbs from morning to evening!! I forget how many calories equal a pound of weight but it could be water retention, or you did not have a bowel movement or both... I would not worry about it, just do a bit more exercise and really watch for a day or two or go back on to a liquid diet for a week.
  6. Oh and I forgot to add that I haven't lost any weight either.
  7. Can anyone advise? I lost 15 lbs the first week after my surgery and have not lost a pound since. I am at 2.5 weeks out. When I started soft foods, I gained 3 lbs immediately, then lost that 3 lbs this past week, but have not gone down again in weight. Is this normal, semi-normal, unusual? Any insight is helpful! Thanks.

    Stall For 2 Weeks

I agree with other posts that this is totally normal. I had almost a month of little or no weight loss and then I changed from working out in evening to morning, added more "real food" like fish and veggies, and began tracking EVERYTHING on MyNetDiary. Then yesterday, BOOM, lost 3lbs. I have lost 30lbs since surgery on July 11 but this surgery is definitely not the easy way out, I think more and work harder on myself since this surgery then any other program I have attempted. Stay strong and just shake up your routine, you have to outsmart your body! Good Luck!
  9. I'm 4 1/2 months out and I'm down 70 pounds. I've noticed the past two months my weight loss seems to have slowed a bit. I think realistically, 10 pounds a month is great. I know that some people lose more but this is average for most. I'm not liking it at all either!
  10. Ready4success the difference between losing 10 lbs back when before surgery - is that those 10 lbs eventually came back with the help of the sleeve, and your hard work - weight should not be regained good luck
  11. So I was sleeved January 2012. I've been doing really well...I've lost over 70 pounds since my surgery, but I'm currently stalling out. I'm 5'6" and weigh about 155 (I'll have the exact number tomorrow when I go for a check-up). However, I haven't budged in a while. I'm taking in about 1200 calories a day ( I track using mfp...best thing ever). Am I always perfect? No, I get hungry sometimes...i have Snacks during the day, but again, I try to keep it within my caloric goal. I also exercise 4-5 times a week. I run for 30-45 minutes on most days, swim once a week and do weights 4 times a week. I follow this regimen and I'm seeing skin tightening results...however, again...I'm stuck. any advice on how to break on through to the other side (sorry, i love the Doors). Thanks for your helps, sleevers!!

Are you getting your Protein in how much have you lost. Did you start lower because of the band. The sleeve is getting more popular here. When I went to the seminar they did not even talk about the sleeve dr. tried to push the band. My dr. only did 2 of them but came highly reccommended as a good dr. I am so happy I chose him. He said he is doing alot more sleeves and feels out had the best results for long term weight loss. The problem is there are no long term studies. Do you plan on going to the support groups. My bff had the sleeve in Mexico and had loss 100lbs she lives here too Sent from my SPH-D700 using VST
  13. Thank you soo much yh I will download it now.... I had two eggs and she poured 5 big spoons of olive oil hope I don't, I am just worried don't want to put on weight again

    Depressed :-(

Wow, today must be one of those days for the scale. I am sorry the scale hasn't moved, but sometimes that happens. Just know it will move again. Here is an article that I think really explains stalls well. http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html

    Struggling

I am struggling too. Ive had the band for 6 months and havent lost the weight i want to lose. What i am starting to do now is eat 6 small meals instead of 3. My meals usually consist of chicken topped with a little bit of cheese or baked fish with a vegetable or a salad. If i am hungry a couple hours later i would have cut up fruit or a yogurt. I also dont eat breakfast which i found out can cause you to gain weight so now i either have a packet of instant oatmeal or grits or a protein shake. I am also starting to limit my carb intake and reduce my sugar. Because i wasnt getting that full feeling i was eating larger portions. After going to the doctor for my 3rd fill he told me that my meals should be a 1/2 a cup so i went to walmart and brought tupperware that was 1/2 cup so that i wouldnt be tempted to eat large portions. He also told me to take 20 min to eat the food and stop after that whether your full or not.

    Need Advice

It will come off. Just give your body time to heal from the surgery and focus on healing up, getting well and staying hydrated and getting Protein. I assure you it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE not to lose weight b/c your calories are so restricted. Good Luck!
  17. I did a little panic eating before surgery and gained weight! My surgeon threatened not to do the surgery unless I lost the weight I gained AND the weight I was supposed to lose. Once I started the liquid diet the weight came off fast. I wouldn't recommend doing what I did.

    Water Retention

It happens to most if not all of us. I think it took about a week for me to get back to "surgical" weight. Just be patient (I know it's hard in the beginning!). Concentrate on getting your fluids in, taking small sip, slowing down and getting in protein (if your doc has you on protein shakes already). The weight will drop, I promise!

    Need Encouragement..

You will definitely lose and the best advice as far as knowing when you're full....eat slowly, chew well and do NOTHING else while you're eating or drinking your meal in the case of Protein shakes or Meal Replacements. You will definitely know when you've had enough. Remember to stop when you're "wondering" if the next bite or sip will be too much because it will be. Remember you can always finish that meal later on when you're not so full or there is room. You can do this! I asked my doctor the success rate for losing weight with this surgery because I too have tried so many diets and failed...she told me, she has never seen someone not lose weight if they followed the eating and exercising rules given to them by her and the other bariatric team members. You know what.......she was right. I was so afraid I wouldn't lose and that this would fail but, I'm following her rules and it's coming off. It may be coming off slower than some but, it's my journey, my pace and it's coming off so I'm happy! It will come off for you to!
  20. It's been a while since I've posted. I celebrated my surgiversary on Dec. 27th. It's been a crazy year of ups and downs but I would say a positive experience overall. I enjoyed giving a shot with the challenges but I hit a long stall and am fluctuating around the same 3 pounds for a month now so I only met 1 challenge. But in a year the good news is I made it to my 1st goal to make it to onederland and goal 2 was met, I've lost over 100 pounds..101 to be exact in less than a year, met this back in November. Next is to shed this last 64 pounds to make it to my ultimate goal. High weight was 298, current weight 197. I've gone from a size 24-26/2x-4x to a comfy size 16. My biggest struggles are sweets and breads. The holidays did me in and is probably why I'm in this current stall. I need more strength and courage to make it to where I need to be. My motivation has been lacking and getting back on track and using tools like vst and mfp, I'm hoping my dreams will come true. I'm feeling pretty good these days but my myasthenia has caused me a few problems. Taking my meds regularly and getting back to excercising as much as I can will help. Wish me luck everyone. Hope everyone has a blessed new year and rock your sleeve. It really works.
  21. I just had my lapband surgery on March 27, I started with my weight at 316, I am st 281 now. It has been 2 weeks and the doctor has told me it was ok for puddings and creamed soups and of course still clears and protien shakes. Today, I had a few bites of creamy mashed potaotes ( no chunks) lol and a few bites of winter squash which was like a puree consitency. I'm hoping that was ok. Also I still have a bit of tenderness where my port is, especially when I try to sleep on my right side.. used to be a stomach sleeper. How long before the tenderness goes away to be able to sleep comfortably again? I was also wondering since I have not had a fill yet.. but I'm guessing my full signal is like I have a little golf ball stuck in my stomach.. i def don't want to over do and ruin the band.. is that anormal feeling? Other that that I have no real issues and go back to my dr April 25th. My first few days after surgery were tough, didnt want to move and scared to drink or eat anything.. but i'm over it.. Just can't wait to introduce fish or chicken...lol.

    I Need Encouragement!

Don't give up, it's for a good purpose, it's time for your body to catch up with your numbers. I just went through the same thing. 3 weeks with no weight lose but in the last two days I have had more people notice my weight loss than ever before. Your losing inches, promise!

    I Need Encouragement!

I go through the same thing and mine normally happens at least 2 weeks out of every other month so I end up with about 5-6 weeks of weight loss then 2 weeks without any and the cycle repeats itself!

    Scale victory for today :)

Hi 5. You are absolutely right. All those milestones are just as relevant as the scale #s (dropping clothes sizes, new bmi ranges, ability to do something physically you couldn't before etc). When I got to BMI 24 and was "normal" weight range I just didn't know what to think. It was just as relevant as being 155 or size 6. Find those little milestones and celebrate them> They all serve as great motivation to keep going!

I Need Help!! How Do I Get Started??

My advice is to first talk to your regular physician. There should be some level of history with weight issues and depending on how much overweight your insurance may require additional comorbid conditions (diabetes, heart problems, sleep apnea, etc.). If you don't have insurance you may want to start checking into financing for medical procedures. I think your doc may be able to recommend a surgeon, or there are places on this sites main page where you can get information on surgeons. Most of the surgeons require that you attend at least one informational seminar. There is a ton of information out there, this site is a terrific resource! Good luck!
