congrats on your surgery. I remember sneezing about 6 days out and thought I was going to die. sneezing and coughing are not fun. I went to a follow up and had no issues from the doc. took about 6 weeks until I didn't feel any pain in my stomach.

Today is 3 weeks post surgery. I feel amazing. I am down 28 lbs. People are noticing that I am losing weight and telling me I look good. That makes me feel so good and encourages me to stay on track as well. My clothes are getting baggy and I may have to search in my closet for some smaller sizes soon. 1 hard boiled egg mixed with 2 teaspoons of light miracle whip fills me up. The feeling is a weird feeling when your full but I am getting used to it. How are other post op's doing with weight loss?

Today makes 2 weeks post op for me. Im so excited that ive been seeing results! My highest weight was 333lbs, Im now down to 299lbs! Im FINALLY under 300lbs I haven't been under 300 since i had my first son 5 yrs ago, so this is exciting. And today i put a pair of jeans on, and man! They are way to big now! I know this is just the beginning and i already feel so blessed...blessed that i even got this opportunity to change my life for the better. How are all of you doing who had a July surgery??

Saw my surgeon yesterday for my 1 m9nth post op visit. He was very pleased with my weight loss. I've lost 31% of my excess body weight since July 19th. 11lbs on the 1 month preoperative diet and 23lbs since surgery on August 19th. My BMI has went from 42.7 down to a 36. He told me I was ahead of the curve on my weight loss so not to be surprised if I hit a stall soon. I'm off my insulin shots and back on oral meds for my diabetes and I'm off my bp meds completely. So thankful to be past the regret phase and on to the "I'm so damn glad I did this" phase.

Went back to work today. 1 week out I think that may have been pushing it because exhausted and I'm suppose to go to night school tonight but I don't think that's happening.

Hey 👋 how is everyone doing that had surgery in July I’ll be 3 months post op October 18th I’m down 30 pounds from my heights weight 287 I’ve been between 258 -260 for about a week now...I don’t know about any one else but I still have some cravings and hunger...my sleeve is still pretty tight and I honestly never ate to be full before surgery and it’s the same now I literally take 2 or 3 bites off everything and that’s it’s...i can get through about a liter of water a day hoping to be back to gallon within a year...I’m still doing one protein shake a day I really should do 2 but I sometimes think I’m lactose now my stomach I kinda sensitive to dairy products...I’m still struggling with gym I’m still shy to work out in front of other people and I still don’t have confidence...some days are better than most especially having depression..I knew the surgery wouldn’t cure depression so I still go to therapy once a month..I still haven’t been transparent with my friends and family about having vsg and I don’t even think i need to I went through this entire process by myself and I just can’t handle the negatively..

I was sleeved on May 26th and weighed 300 lbs. I am 5 weeks out and weigh 271 lbs. Fotunately I did not hit the dreaded three week stall or maybe I did and just didn't realize it. My relationship with the scale has definitely changed. I still weigh myself almost daily but I have found that the number no longer sends me into a frenzy. I think reading so much here I finally realized that the scale does not make or break success. I am on soft foods and dabbling with some regular foods. Had chicken and some pulled pork. No beef. I really want a salad and some fresh fruit. Waiting to here back from NUT. I truly have found that this forum prepared me for surgery and post-op.

It is normal to me because I recently went through it too. I actually gained weight the day after the surgery, 4lbs I think it was. I was not happy at all and then couldn't loose any for almost two weeks. Then to my surprise the last two weeks it has been coming off on a good basis. I was banded June 20th. When I had complained to the doctors office they told me I was suppose to concentrate on healing not loosing weight in the beginning. Don't sweat it, it will come off. Good luck and congrats! Colleen

Zofran is your friend. I have it occasionally but week 4-5 was there worst. Zofran did help somewhat.

For the first month I did only walking. 6 weeks I started doing the treadmill with an incline. It wasn't until 8 weeks that I started to do weights and start doing core work. Start slowly as your really not getting a lot of calories so even burning 200-250 is probably half your daily intake. Good luck- LA

Depends on your healing and your doctor's protocols. I was okay'd for light weights (10lbs) at 2 weeks and could resume regular aerobic core workouts at 3.

Stalls....
Inner Surfer Girl replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know because I only weighed at my doctor's appointments. Stalls are a natural, necessary, and normal part of the process. The first, most predictable stall usually comes about week three. Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
Hiya all! (in research/planning phase)

Huh?? Sounds like you need a new PCP. My PCP is completely anti-wls, in ANYCASE. She's kind of closed minded when it comes to stuff like that, and everytime I bring it up, she's like "Why don't you give Weight Watchers another try?"... HOWEVER, I am fortunate enough to live very close to a bariatric center, who (it seems) is handling it so I don't need to go through my PCP, and so far everything is covered, and my final paperwork will be submitted in 3 weeks. Maybe there's a different doctor YOU could try? -
I had my post OP with my surgeon today. I healing well I've lost 18 lbs in the last 4 weeks. I've graduated to more solid foods (yes!) And I can almost breathe without pain! So off to a good start.

I have read tons of posts about stalls and thought I was mentally prepared for the infamous "three week stall". Despite all that, when it happened to me, I got a little down. It's so frustrating to be eating so little and not lose any. ***just venting***. :-)

7 months post op and on a 3 month stall!
Sassygirl06 replied to skinnygirlinside's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I had many stalls through this whole process, and yes sometimes for months. Make sure to measure your inches during stalls instead of weighing. Some people are exchanging fat for muscle...and I have said this a lot of times before; while a pound of fat and a pound of muscle still weigh a pound....muscle takes up less volume, and therefore you may weigh the same, or even more....but you are smaller because those pounds are taking up less space...which gives you the reason why it is so important to measure instead of weigh! Good luck to you, and stop stressing about it! Stress also causes us to release hormones which hinder us losing weight. -
Moving to BOSTON! 6 Week Post Follow and Travel!
BackSpin81 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Just some random thoughts... So I'm excited and stressed... with excitement! After searching for months I was finally offered a new position in my home state, Massachusetts! My last day at my job will be next Wednesday on 5/20/2015 and then I hit the road shortly after. I'm still not sure of which will be leaving but I at least want to be in Boston by Memorial Day. In my opinion, there is no point in prolonging my time in Colorado! I can't wait to get back to the East Coast and to city life again! But I'll have to find a Bariatric support group and follow-up doctor in the area (which should not be difficult at all). So if you have any suggestions, please feel free to let me know. On another note, I went to my 6 week post follow-up appointment today. Apparently I'm on target and cleared to eat all foods! Yaaay... kinda. Lol. I have been able to get all of my Water and Protein in but hardly any fruits and veggies. She suggested that I eat more often and change my protein portion sizes when I have a meal. Hmm. My response back was that I may not fulfill my protein requirement if I lower my protein (meat) intake. I asked the dietitian about this and she assured me that I'll be able to eat more as time goes on and suggested finding protein in things other than meat. But I don't know. It's easier for me to have a 3 oz piece of salmon or chicken at 20+ grams of protein at lunch or dinner opposed to have less an eating more throughout the day. I'll consider it, but still on the fence. Next, I went on a roadtrip last weekend. It was my way of seeing this region of the country for the first/last time ever. I have no plans to come back and visit this area again, so I figured I'd drive, hang out, and take photos of everything I saw. I went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, The Four Corners, and the Grand Canyon (FINALLY!!) and it was gorgeous! I took awesome photos, got plenty of rest, talked to strangers and stayed at 2 very different but cool hotels. So, yeah. it was the perfect way to say goodbye. Colorado, its been.... interesting, -
I am three weeks out and my incisions are completely healed and not sore at all. Everyone heal differently but hopefully you will only have a week or two until you are good to go.

You mentioned your protein shakes seem to make gas worse-are they lactose free? My Dr says lactose free for the first 2 weeks because the enzyme that digests lactose stops getting produced for a short time post op.

Hi I was banded on the 28th of March, 5 days ago. Everything is going great. My doctor says you loose the most weight in the first 3 weeks and then it tapers off to 1 or 2 pounds a week. Have you found this to be true? I have 70 pounds to loose.
