Yogurt and cottage cheese will not pass through security. Protein bars are good to go. Also, you can pack some protein powder in a shaker bottle, and just purchase skim milk at the airport or hotel.

Already gaining & freaking out!
Jobber replied to LuvDeeDee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to stay away from any "pureed" foods that contain sugar or other carbs like Applesauce, etc. Get a Ninja and puree fresh produce and lean proteins and you'll be good to go. Also, make sure your yogurts and snacks are as fat and calorie free as possible. -
I'm over 2 years out and even when I'm being careful I can get stuck. I am pretty tight, but I can eat something one week and get stuck on it the next. I've even gotten stuck on Wendy's chili. I've gotten better at figuring portion sizes, and have figured out that I do better when I eat 5 small meals a day (some of them just one item, like Greek yogurt).

Sweet Spot - when the band is at optimal adjustment, which signals satiety on small amounts of food, and you do not get hungry for at least 4-5 hours. Green Zone - same as sweet spot Sliders - foods that slide through the band without sending the satiety signal. Things like milkshakes, ice cream, candy, frozen yogurt, etc. For some, popcorn is also a slider. The slider food list goes on, but keep in mind that the band does its job best with dense Protein foods.

4months post op at a standstill super confused. Feeling like a failure
pandababe94 replied to NurseRosemary's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am 4 months out and was going thru the same thing. I talked to my diatician and increased my calories to 1000-1100 because I wasnt eatting enough. I was constantly hungry and found myself snacking a lot. I started working out 5 days a week and my body was in starvation mode. Now I use my fitness pal and track every single thing that goes into my mouth and all of my activities. I have only one protien shake a day by primer protien bc its 30g of protien a day and only 1g of sugar. I love all their flavors. Usually I have it for breakfast with a greek yogurt. I also plan every single meal and snack for the day and put it in my fitness pal the day before. If its not in my lunch box or recorded in my fitness pal it doesn't touch my lips. Someone told me this and it has really been my montra and what keeps me so on track and dedicated to the daily planning: If you fail to plan you plan to fail. And since I have been living by this the last few weeks the scale has been finally moving. -
How Are You One Week Post-Opers
M_Johnson replied to strawberryblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 11 days out. Finally found a shake I can tolerate..... Atkins. Ice cold. I am also doing pudding, yogurt, broths, cream soups and I kept very very finely shredded tuna fish down last night. It was from a can but I cut it up alot before adding the mayo. I was able to eat about 1/2 of a 3oz can. I am regaining energy and starting to feel like me again. I have lost 21 pounds so far and see my doc in another week. I do think I get heart burn now but it doesn't last and is completely random. I have gone back to cooking for my family, it was easier then I thought since I feel full, all the time! -

All kinds of bathroom problems
Lochnessamber posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last chance to skedaddle on out of this thread, I'm diving right into this hog mess. Onset of symptoms: week 3. Duration of symptoms: 2 weeks. Symptoms in question: constipation, diarrhea, intense pain sometimes accompanied by nausea, itching, occasional bleeding, dryness/irritation. Diet: 2-3 tablespoons of Greek yogurt mixed with protein powder and splenda at each meal. 4-5 meals daily. Supplement protein needs with Premier chocolate protein (pre-mixed). Have tried under the advisement of my doctor: more water, suppositories (have helped bleeding), hemorrhoid wipes, drinking more water, triple paste (diaper cream), exercising more, probiotics, more water. Have tried against medical advice: more fiber. I actually went home early today because I wasnt getting any work done with all my crying trips to the bathroom. I had only 5oz of my protein drink (instead of 11) and only ate 2 tbsps of yogurt at all today. Considering calling in tomorrow. TL;DR I'm really hoping that with all of this info yall will be able to point out something glaringly obvious that I am doing wrong so I can bring this suffering to an end. 😂 -
What's your new favorite protein snack?
redrum602 replied to Crabby54's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My new favorite high protein is the Greek Yogurt! It comes in a variety of fat levels (non-fat, 2%, full fat, etc). The interesting this is that the non-fat varieties tend to have more protein! I am currently munching on Oikos brand Honey flavor Non-Fat greek Yogurt. 5.3 ounces for 13 grams of protein, no fat and 120 calories. Perfect for breakfast. I have also tried the blueberry. Also the Fage brand is good too.... just make sure to get the 2% or non-fat version. The full fat version has 12 grams of fat!! Craziness. -
Stage 3 HELP PLEASE!
Puttingmyselffirst replied to mint2bskiny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery February 28, and am still doing the soft/mushy phase. I too am doing low carb---seems ti work best for me and it is what my doctor recommends. I eat tuna, chicken, and egg salad a lot. I also made some soft meatballs that I was able to mash up with some marinara sauce and topped with mozzarella cheese. Stick it in the oven/microwave to melt the cheese and it is very yummy. I am going to try a ricotta bake tonight. Ricotta cheese, marinara, and mozzarella baked---sounds good. I stayed away from yogurt and puddings because of the carb/sugar content. -
Protein Powder And Yogurt?
cjoyce replied to eeyoregirl1970's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I always add a full scoop to a carton of yogurt then split into two servings.....prefer vanilla powder in vanilla yogurt with some fruit added...blueberries are my fav. -
Hi. I am Pre op trying out some new things and was wondering if anyone has added powder to yogurt. If so, how was it? What flavors did you mix and how much powder would you recommend adding ? Thanks !!

I was really hungry the first couple of weeks post surgery while on liquids. Not sure of your plan but it helped me to not be so hungry to have creamy Soups, thinned yogurt and keeping up on my Protein shakes. I've moved up to purees now and that helps even more. Make sure you're getting in all you're supposed to. You will make it through.

Congrats on surgery! I think at 5 days post op I wasn't getting all my Protein either. At this point don't really worry about 3 "meals" a day. Just work on getting high protein liquids down all day. Everyone's post op diet is different, but I know at 5 days I was on full liquids that included puddings & yogurts. Don't force yourself to eat just try to sneak in small amounts when you can. Good luck!

LOL I know exactly what you mean about opening and closing the fridge! It it becoming a challenge, I'm trying to find more choices of high protein food..I can't even look at a shake right now, and I have enough yogurt for an Alaskan winter! Oh well, this is what we signed up for, right? Have to just do it for now

I am so sick of making myself get in protein shakes cottage cheese yogurt mashed potatoes and beans. What are some soft food ideas?
-
I wish i could eat that fast. :-) this morning it took me like 45 min to do 1/4 cup of Greek yogurt. I have been trying to go show bc after like every bite i get purpy and a little chest pain. The pain eases as soon as i burp or my tummy gurggles, but it's uncomfortable so i am going slow. I had to warm my 1/2 cup of soup up 3 times last night Lol

Turkey meatballs and half a cup low carb Marinara 2 ounces pot roast with a couple of spoonfuls of Greek yogurt. I put in one quarter of a potatoe and some peas too. I made my own chilli and figured out the calories and servings and purée it with some Greek yogurt too. Pulled pork with barbecue sauce and Greek yogurt The possibilities are endless!!!

WHAT FOODS GETS STUCK or give you problems?
cris35 replied to Raven5683's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG! Nearly everything gets stuck and gives me pain. I can't eat any solids in the morning at all. The worst offenders are as follows any bread, dough, anything made with flour really sux for me chicken breast pork chops steak ( except for an expensive cut like a filet) mashed potatoes(even with gravy) boiled eggs. The whites are the worst. Hamburg (even the tiniest well chewed bite) Pasta usually gets stuck, but sometimes works for me if cooked to mush, but then why bother when it's that mushy eewwwwee! sushi rice sux, I'm in agony until I finally get it up (YUCK)! As you can see, the holidays are pretty much of nothing for me. Things that I can eat the chickens dark meat spare ribs if not dry Soups crackers yogurt lowfat tortilla chips with salsa steamed rice almost all veggies if cooked crunchy things go down good most of the time no sugar added fudge pops 45 calories, and a great treat when i'm craving chocolate. Homemade baked hotwings sausage(although I hardly ever eat it because it is fattening) kielbasa(same as sausage though) cooked cabbage I don't know, I don't have a wide range of solids that I can eat, so I still drink my Protein shakes everyday and take my Calcium chews and Vitamins to make sure I'm getting what I need. It seems that I'm a sucker for punishment though, because every now and again I try to eat the repeat offenders, and am always wishing I hadn't. When will I ever learn? I'm getting a little better though, I wait at least a month before I try it again LOL! Well there you have it folks, the long list of delicious foods I have to plan my meals with (NOT)! lol
