How long did Gas last.
mysleeveid13 replied to butterfly2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 days post op and I was having some serious gas pains, too and I walked more than anyone that was in the hospital with me. I tried the heating pad, warm decaf rea with one splenda (just cannot do totally unsweet) and nothing seemed to help. So then to add variety to my clear liquid diet (that I'll be on for 2 weeks post op) I tried 2 oz of apple juice mixed with 2 oz of Water. It tasted delicious and was a good break from broth and then it made me go #2. Each time I go potty I sit there for a minute and a ton of gas comes out. So long story longer, apple juice worked for me.... Also, one of my friends that had the surgery over a year ago said that she thinks I was drinking too much and too fast. I went back through my paperwork and it said 1 oz every 15 minutes and doing it that way you shouldn't drink more than 4 oz per hour (and you still can get in 64 oz per day). I felt like I was swallowing air each time I sipped so I think she was right. I slowed down and the gas was much better today. Hope this wasn't TMI, but if it helps you then I will share.. -
Sorry if this is tmi.... But I'm taking the weight management fiber gummies that have chromium in it and I'm wondering if it's causing anyone else to pee ALOT? It's like every 5 mins I'm peeing ????????

Pre op diet concern for post op patients
kell778 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all Has anyone else had the pre-op protein shakes and then tummy issues? I am two days pre-op and my tummy is just not getting used to the shakes. My stomach doesn't hurt at all but I hear constant grumbling (not hunger) like bubbles in my upper tummy underneath my left rib. I am not having any problem having a bowel movement but very soft. Sorry, TMI. Lol. Any help is appreciated!!! -
This may sound like a stupid question, but usually when I go for my fill I wear pants. I've scheduled one this Tuesday, and I'm having a picture taken, for which I'm wearing a dress. (I do wear them to work a lot, but when I have a chance to walk on our track it's easier to wear pants. Maybe TMI, sorry.) I prefer having my doctor doing the fill as opposed to the nurse practitioner, whom I'm not crazy about . Anyway, my question is, does anyone find it awkward getting a fill wearing a dress and hose? I've been thinking about this today, and it really sounds silly asking, but there it is. Debbie

TMI Alert. So I looooove poop days. I only have them every 4-5 days now, but when they come around I just feel so much better afterwards 😁
Plus the 1+ lbs weight drop is always a nice bonus...

Best advice is what ever feels ok to you is best. I can say that at about 7 mnths post-op & the activity level that my boyfriend & I have (tmi ;0) there is no amount of anything that could losen or damage or move or injure a band or port ;0) He is 249.

Stomach Gas/Bloating?
turquoisekaty replied to BillieG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me to take something called simethicone as it's sole purpose it to reduce gas, and it's been working wonders (just since yesterday though). I can tell when it's time to take another dose as I start to feel like I need to burp/fart really bad (TMI sorry). I'm in Canada and it's called Ovol and it's over-the-counter. I'd ask your doc about it for sure as it works well. -
Thanks Sue. I am kind of worried now. I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and let me tell you this pain was worse than the UC pain. I am glad it is gone now. The only thing that would make the pain go away was me bending over. I do think it was a gallbladder attack. I must say that my diet is mostly meat. I need to add veggies and fruit. I do not want to have my gallbladder removed. Maybe making some adjustments do my diet will help? Also, my BM have not been frequent. For someone who has UC I don't have BMs often. Sometimes they amount to nothing. I know this is TMI. I will call my doctor in the morning and let him know whats up. I also think I visit with my nutritionist is in order.

Hey All- I'm here w/ yet another medicine question for you all. Calling the doctor tomorrow- but I really need to take something. I'm a year post-op & this is the first time I am sick! I appear to have a nasty cold. Stuffy yet running nose & I'm hacking colors of the rainbow out of my lungs...yeah sorry probably TMI. Can we take things like Day-Quil or Nigh-quil? I'm dying here! Worse part- my port area is tender from my coughing so much & so hard, that has me alittle nervous. :smile2: Any input is greatly appreciated!

I am three weeks out and on soft foods. I am struggling to get my Proteins in and get nauseated and vomit about 1/3 of the time after I eat. Sorry for the TMI, but it rarely contains a lot of the (little) food I have eaten, but I am just so sick and feel so bad. Is this normal? Also, after I eat, I feel myself getting hot. Am I the only one experiencing this? Should I call my doctor?

Chewable/Liquid Paleo vitamins and protein?
Krystal0528 replied to Sherrib4health's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Thanks guys any input is great. In really considering the wellese liquid vitamins.. Has anyone else tried this? I have tried capsules and chewables an have had no luck. I have been on gummys. I have the celebrate capsules an have tried an tried to take. Within 10-15 minutes if taking I got light headed an little dizzy, then throw up. It's so bad I actually dry heave due to puking everything up an nothing being left but the icky yellow stuff (I know TMI) but my hole upper body is sore after this process. I have been through twice an I'm scared to try again:( I have been great on flinstone gummy but in afraid that I'm not getting what I need, or no if I need to take more than just that. -

Had no pains with the lower incision, but the top and side one i had mild pain. but the pain im in now is all due to the gas, been taking my meds, walking, drinking more fluids. Oh i also have really bad dry mouth and i know TMI- diarrhea. Trying a heating pad now. Oh never have i wanted to burp/fart so much in my life lol!!!

Hey guys, I'm on Day 5 of my pre-op and I feel like shit. I'm not really hungry, but my stomach hurts soooo much. Last night it felt so bad I couldn't even sleep. I'm not sure if my tummy hurts because I'm hungry or because it's feeling sick from the stuff I'm eating. It's weird because I don't feel like eating, but my tummy seems like its telling me to eat something, but a yogurt or soup doesn't cut it. Last night I could have eaten almost any thing, but I got a yogurt instead and just sipped on it until it was all gone. If I'm having these problems now, what's going to happen after I'm banded? TMI----I seem to be having a lot more gas then usual, and some acid reflux when I lay down at night. In addition, I either can't have a bm when I feel I need to, or I'm having diarrhea...how the hell does that happen? After I drink a protein shake it's straight into the bathroom, but when I wake up in the morning I feel like I need to have a bm but nothing happens. This liquid stuff is screwing my whole system up, and to boot I don't think I have lost any thing. Maybe only 1 kilo or something. What I'm eating: Protein shake for breakfast (slim fast type of thing) yogurt for snack (low fat no sugar) vegetable soup for lunch yogurt for snack (low fat no sugar) chicken soup for dinner (no chicken just broth and noodles) sf pudding or another yogurt for desert -+1.5l water -+1l crystal light or tea Help guys-.......:help:

Surgery on Monday and I'm Having Problems!
lf1227 replied to bunnyboop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am glad you are feeling better and that the Pea protein is working for you. As far as having the runs in the hospital.. girl let me tell you. The morning of my last day I was able to relieve gas for the first time since surgery and I was happy because I thought it would let me get rid of the gas pain... and it did. But boy I was NOT prepared for what was to come. Sorry for the TMI but the first time I was going to make a bowel movement I was embarrassed because I didn't want these nurses that I had gotten to know to walk into the bathroom and see it (they put measured bowls in the toilet) and it was in thy moment that I had to decided whether I was gonna sh*t my pants or in the bowl. I physically had to get over that worry because the rest of my last day was ALL that. I couldn't wait to be discharged so I could do it in my own home LOL! My point is, is that you will be fine! Just keep listening to your body [emoji23][emoji1] -
What am I missing?
LeanerLena5426 replied to roundisashape's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like you are very well-prepared, and I think that's awesome! Couple of additional things to consider, based on my experience--which was NOTHING like @@Cody's mom, my recovery was horrendous! I was in agony for weeks, and it was months before I was fully mobile. And I have a high tolerance for pain, so it's not just that I'm a wimp! If you're going to be alone, you may want to set things up in your house so that you can reach them easily. Putting the Protein shakes on the top shelf of the fridge, getting out a pot, etc. Set up your bed with pillows to prop you up, move the tv, etc. Anything that's physical, you may want to do ahead of time so it's all set for you. Your recovery could be a breeze like @@Cody's mom or 3 months of hell like mine, but most likely somewhere in between! So may as well be prepared. Couple more things: I ended up buying a belly binder, which was a huge help with the pain. And finally, although this is TMI (sorry), if I had it to do over again I'd buy one of those reach extenders for, um, the bathroom... (I could not twist or bend without excruciating pain, and therefore could not reach...again, sorry for TMI!) Good luck!! -
So I have had a couple of instances of eating too quickly or not chewing enough and i suddenly get that stuck feeling. I have had one fill up to 5 ml. I begin to slime and spit up alot of spit. I run to the bathroom and suddenly I throw up. Not like I would do if I had a virus before the banding but it seems to be more than what I have read described as PB'ing. No burp, just a mild vomit. I am sure this is not good. It is never because I have eaten too much but it follows that stuck feeling. It seems more likely to happen as I begin to eat and not towards the end of a meal. Sometimes it seems to take 2 or 3 vomits for the food to release. I am not trying to do this it just seems to happen. I also seem to hiccup when this happens. Any thoughts out there about this. Am I having more agressive PB'ing than normal? Yesterday it happened after eating a piece of cucumber. I could just feel it sitting in there stuck.

This is my first post. I will be banded on Tuesday, March 7th. I'm trying to connect with the 3 ladies who attended my pre-opt class last Thursday at Dr. Abkin's office. I know I met Tanya and Wanda and another lady. All four of us were there together while the snow and sleet amassed outside. Needless to say, I'm nervous and somewhat freaked after the pre-opt class. TMI (too much info). I just want to know I will wake up after the procedure and that I won't have any regrets. Any words of comfort of advice from experienced bandsters? My surgery is at 9:30 AM and I have to be there at 7:30. :nervous Once again, I would love to talk to the ladies I met last Thursday. :)

This is really gross /sorry
Chunky_Dunk replied to meatball1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you male or female? Is this coming from your butt or other area? (sorry if it's personal) I ask because I am a month and 2 days post op and for the past week and a half I have been having this vaginal (TMI) discharge that is brownish pink and thickish. I don't itch, burn, or have any signs of any type of infection, so I'm not sure of what it could be. I don't hurt or cramp or anything. That is why I asked. I want to know if we are experiencing the same thing. LOL! If you are male or it is coming from your hiney, then we probably aren't experiencing the same thing. Would love to know if anyone knows what this could be. I only have one period a year pre op, and true to form I started my period a couple of days before my surgery (and was on it during surgery sadly ...) And this is around the time that I started last month and I do notice that around the time I am supposed to start I just get discharge, but never blood. I am not really bleeding. I thought I was (early start of period), but I only got the brownish blood looking stuff whenever I wiped. Now after a week or so the brownish color stopped, but I am still gettng thick clear discharge. So, I don't know if that was a type of period or what in the world is going on. My body just never wants to cooperate! Any guesses? -
TMI, I know, but I have to ask! I am usually pretty darn fresh in my va-JJ area but latey, Eeeeek Gads! There is a very unfamiliar smell coming from down yonder. Is this possibly because I am passing fat? I can't stand this but if it is because of that, then I'll just have to deal with it...but ew.

Ladies PMS Question... Help...
Luni83 replied to Yosy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was blessed with 4 enemies the first two month after surgery. The day before I was in so much pain that my dr gave me prescription painkillers. The first time it happened I was sure I had ruptured something. Haha. Also about 2-3 days before each one I got sooo angry over nothing. Seems to have calmed down at this point Still a lot more blood than before though... tmi.. Surgery date: 10 october 2017 SW: 327 CW: 265 GW: 175 -
How are you getting to 1000/1200 cals a day?
sarahbellzz14-4 replied to AlaskaGirl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I check labels. Which has More protein but fewer calories, I've been eating lean cuisines for lunch, My big thing is my sodium intake, so I check for low fat, low sodium High protein. I tried to drink a protein shake the other day and threw up the entire contents of my stomach (TMI I'm sorry) but undigested breakfast was with it. I've been cooking dinner mostly every night, and In my house it's difficult, My son, you can give the kid a lb of lard and he will only metabolize 2% of it. Skinny as a rail. The DH, develped a little gut over the winter (works a seasonal job, so his arms look fantastic but the pooch has gone nowhere) and then there's me, who can not eat a thing. So back to my point, Just label check... -
Serious Weight Lifters for Gaining Mass: What supplements are you using?
NewSetOfCurves posted a topic in Fitness & Exercise
What are your preworkout, during, and postworkout supplements? Preworkout: I've tried NO-XPLODE (however, I do not like the new formula), C-4 (made me constipated, TMI, but good info for those who have problems with the bowels), and I am currently taking MHP's Fit Trainer. I wake up 5 am, but I do not get to the gym until around 6 pm. I need a really good pre-workout to get my workout started at the end of a really long day. Any suggestions? During: Aminocore by AllMax Nutrition . I have also tried a few others, but right now--in my bag--I have another supplement that increases blood flow. it gives me a really good pump. I'll add the name when I get home because I cannot remember it at this time. After: Myozene by BioQuest. I have actually added on 15 pounds of solid mass with this supplement. I started taking it in October and I have increased my weight from 140 to 155. I am still the same waist size, but it has definitely helped me add on the mass. -
I find that certain...positions...are not as comfortable because of my port placement. Not pain per se, just uncomfortable. But only when I'm bent in half or scrunched up. Okay, yeah, TMI...
