  1. So I am 11 weeks out and down about 32 pounds since surgery. I know we shouldn't compare, but that seems really slow compared to some of the numbers that I've seen on here. I acknowledge that I need to get going on my exercise ( plan on doing 30 day shred today). I am eating about 800 calories per day and 60-80g Protein and around 60 carbs ( I know some people really reduce carbs but my Nut wants us to have some whole grains). I haven't lost anything in about 10 days and I feel like I've been stalled more than I've been losing. I am just really frustrated. Also, I feel like all of my weight loss has come from my boobs. So they're getting smaller while my gut still looks like I have a 30 week fetus in there. Also, this may be TMi, but my periods have been lasting two weeks or more, which is especially odd since I have a Mirena. I wonder if this is affecting my weight loss. Does anyone have any insight to share. HW: 276 Day of Surgery (11/25): 253 CW: 221 GW: 130

    Q About Vomiting...

Yes, sip some water. Don't overdo. You may not be through "getting rid" of the turkey--sometimes my sleeve rejects things in stages (sorry if TMI, but I figure those of us with this issue should probably have as much information as possible). Did you eat too fast/too much or is your sleeve just not fond of turkey? I had the same issue with turkey today at lunch--first time I've gotten sick in almost 2 months and first time at school. Not pleasant. Hope your sleeve calms quickly!
  3. I'm worn out and still have another bottle of nasty mag citrate to drink in a bit. This is the pits. I hope I drop a couple of lbs by tomorrow after all this. lol.

    Sleeved monday!

When I was sleeved...I didn't really expierance gas pain much...I was lucky I guess..but I just had my gallbladder surgery last week and omg I had the worse gas pain ever! I did walk..that was the best thing to do.. But I also had my husband massage my neck ad shoulder where the pain was and I used a heating pad...seemed to help for a little..but the more you do it it will go away..also FART!! I know tmi but it does help!!! My pains lasted like 4 days! But each day a little better! Hang in there itll get better..at least now I can sleep good again!
  5. TMI warning!!! I'm 14 months post-op today and for the last 8 or 9 months I clog a toilet at least 3 times a month because my BMs are unusually large compared to pre-op. I'm not talking amount, I'm talking size. I eat Fiber One nearly everyday just to keep things moving, but a week before to a week after my period I find that I've become the Chronic Toilet Clogger. This gets embarrassing especially at work because we only have 2 staff toilets for 30 some people. I don't know what to do about this! Am I eating too much fiber or something?
  6. This post might be a little TMI for some, but I'm on the pre-op diet and I am drinking a ton of crystal light. About a gallon a day, because I can't get myself to drink that much water in a day. I feel like i'm forcing myself to throw up. Since I am only on liquid (liquid in, liquid out) the crystal light is turning my poop the color of the drink. I found this amusing and was wondering if anyone else was having an issue with this? I love crystal light but I'm afraid that it dieing my excriments might mean it's a little excess. Do you think I could have any issues because of the excess die?
  7. I had my sleeve 9/16/13: TMI past here....... I had full runs on day three, four, and five. Now day six nothing but right side aches that go to my back and they say most likely from no solid matter. They on call (of course over weekend) said no worries cause I am passing gas. I don't have gas pains like i did with lap band thank goodness. Just getting a little worried because the idea of an "enema" is not what i want to be experiencing any time soon! Lol. :0)

    Period & Devo shots

I’m pre-op 44 and have a Merina IUD - I used to have the gigantic chunky heavy periods (TMI) and the only thing that would stop them was meds - that I KNOW we can’t take post surgery. The Merina has reduced my period 90% and I get that icky brown junky stuff - once in a great while I get enough to wear a pad - but almost always it’s just a tiny bit. the first 6 months were horrible - but I’d do it again and again - knowing how it was after that first few months. I have 2 friends - but with the merina - neither had the 6 months of irregularity I had - and both have ZERO period now - I hope when I loose my weight I’ll be the same as them. Good luck.
  9. Hi, Sorry TMI. I’m one week post op revision from band to RNY. I also had my gallbladder removed and Hiatial hernia repair. I had a very rough few days, but have felt much better. Today I can’t stop the diarrhea. I’m following the post op direly. Anyone else have this type of experience? Can I take Imodium AD?

1 Week Out Full Liquids And Puree

Im 13 days post op and they do it to me every time. You can look at it two ways 1. As a bad thing or 2. As a "cleansing" product lol i rather it come out i know TMI so that i lose weight rather then for it to stay in and build up and me gain or stall :-\ idk it doesnt bother me too much cause i look at it as number 2

    Getting Rid of the Crap

Monday, July 27, 2009 Getting Rid of the Crap Thought I'd give you a heads up on the topic today. In case you're squeamish. If you've ever been on the Atkins diet you know you lost weight but you probably also experienced constipation. You have to pick fibers that don't shoot up your blood sugar. I managed because I took ground flax seed and Psyllium Husk. I also found fish oil helped. Veggies and fruits are carbs and have to be limited on Atkins--especially fruit. I've never been that fond of salads and raw veggies, and fruit is limited because of its high sugar content. Not that fruit ever helped me with a lifelong constipation problem. I could eat a lb of grapes or cherries and see no impact. The food protocol for lap band is pretty close to the Atkins Diet. Protein first. Veggies and fruit in small quantities. Careful with the grains because they swell and stretch the stomach. Regular bread and rice can make you bp when they swell. Whole grains can be added cautiously to help control hunger after you've been on the band awhile and your stomach is healed. So enter my old enemy, constipation. Laxatives barely help. I've added fish oil back and just a little ground flax seed. I'm scared of the Psyllium Husk because I know it expands in water. I drink my V8 everyday as well as some diet V8 Splash to get my veggies. I do have some cooked broccoli and califlower and green beans. All fruit has to be peeled and raw veggies can hurt the stomach. I eat a lot of beans (not green ones), but all they do is make me fart. When I was a kid I was so constipated I only went 1x/wk after my big Sunday dinner. TMI, I know, but I gave you fair warning. Excercise is supposed to help but I'm walking and hour and fifteen minutes everyday. Big meals actually used to help me move it through but I can no longe eat big meals. I take a good multivitamin as well as calcium supplements and I get my dairy everyday, so I'm getting my nutrients. This whole subject gives new meaning to the phrase: this too shall pass. People do not like to be constipated. If you've ever dined in a nursing home you'll find prune juice to be a very popular item. I'd need to drink a quart. I'm finding it hard to come up with any kind of spiritual or tool for recovery meaning to apply to this topic. Constipation is just a fact of life that you have to experiment with until you get relief, whether you've had lap band or not. About the only metaphorical meaning I can come up with is that its important to get the crap in your life out of you. You need to do what it takes to get it moving on out or you'll end up with a sluggish brain and spirit and may actually end up with an impacted brain that's stuck on the same old ideas and ways of thinking and is not capable of changing for the better. Step 6 & 7 deal with becoming ready to have God remove all our defects of character and then humbly asking him to do so. Work the steps, pray, read your Bible, read spiritual books, talk to people who don't look like you or think like you, journal, take some risks, go on adventures, take care of yourself, peel away another layer and reveal yourself, have fun, and don't take yourself too seriously or waste time beating yourself or other people up. Love God above all and your neighbor as yourself.

    Stomach Gas/Bloating?

My doctor told me to take something called simethicone as it's sole purpose it to reduce gas, and it's been working wonders (just since yesterday though). I can tell when it's time to take another dose as I start to feel like I need to burp/fart really bad (TMI sorry). I'm in Canada and it's called Ovol and it's over-the-counter. I'd ask your doc about it for sure as it works well.

    Help Ladies!

I was super heavy day of surgery. They gave me a pad and all was well. Post op though, be forewarned that you probably won't be able to wipe. So have a willing family member ready or ask a nurse. My step mom put on gloves, grabbed a wad of toilet paper and wiped me a few hours out of surgery. SO humiliating but it felt wonderful to be dry!!! I had to ask nurses to wipe me that night and the day after and they kinda half butted it. I like to be completely dry inside and out, not just a quick swipe without going between the lips. Sorry, tmi, but it's true. And I was too shy to ask her to wipe harder and go between. Had a shorter cycle and then was about a week late for my next period. I was hella nervous because of my period. My surgeon was a male, lol, and yeah. But I survived and so will you! I wouldn't recommend tampons. I prefer tampons but can you imagine trying to pull out the string after major stomach surgery? Pads are easier!!!

Need to vent - So frustrated

Gee, The 3 week stall is VERY real. I don't know the scientific explanation either, but I truly believe it's related to your body going into starvation mode. Once your body accepts that you won't be giving it the tons of food we were giving it before, then the stall will break. And, you'll stall every now and again because you're eating too much, or not eating enough, or not moving enough, or moving so much that your body is converting fat to muscle. However, overall, you (we) will lose weight. I'm stuck just under the 300 mark right now and have been here for a week or so. However, I'm exercising more than ever, just added treadmill tonight, yay me! I can feel my clothes getting loser and I'm betting things are shifting for you as well. I broke my 3 week stall by ADDING food to my diet, instead of subtracting. I added in a few carbs and added more Water. TMI, then I started going regularly. I happen to love the days I go, because I immediately see the results in the scale. Many years ago, a friend of mine told me that the weight we lose doesn't magically evaporate...it has to go somewhere. So, every bodily function uses up some of that: sweating, breathing, and potty times all rid the body of it's excesses. It was a DUH moment for me. Good luck on your journey!! You are going to get there...and I can't wait to see your pictures!!

Brown Mole Like Spots Under Belly

I have these too. I am thinking it's because we couldn't wash as well as we should have because sometimes it I scratch them they go away. hope that wasn't TMI!!!
  16. I am 6 days post op as we speak...and I noticed this morning as I was taking a shower that my lady bits were ALOT smaller than two weeks ago!! ahaha! Everythang is shrinking! ahaha! DId you noticed any changes like that on your body?? lol
  17. Hi wow what a journey. Thanks for the heads up on the belly fat. I didn't have breast cancer I had Soft Tissue Sarcoma in my breast its a rare cancer that attacks my soft tissue. My doc said (and before I say what he said I just want to make clear I love joking around and do not take things personally and love the truth. So my oncologist and I have a very good relationship). my doc said I'm a walking soft tissue and we need to lower my chances of getting cancer again (my fat of course being the soft tissue) When he said that we laughed but because he put it so bluntly and in the manner that I speak he didn't have to convince me I was 100% in I trust him. I did my homework on him before hand and hand picked him so here I am. I found out I had cancer Jan 11, 2017 Radical mastectomy Jan 19, 2017 Emergency surgery hematoma Jan 19, 2017 37 High dose Radiation treatment AIM chemotherapy 4 rounds each round 3 days 10 hours a day (maximum of chemo allowed in a human I'm not allowed to get chemo anymore ) Now I'm just like recovering living my "new" normal I take care of my body more and now its time for the sleeve surgery. I had a goal so I never got depressed even though plenty of family and friends left my life after my diagnose and everything started to get real. I forgive them but this weight loss surgery has me scared because I feel like my fun chubby self will be gone is like who will I be if i already think I'm the sexiest thing alive will I get worse? Sounds like a weird question but I'm so happy with my 4 kids and my gorgeous husband I feel like we had so much change and it shook our foundation when I got sick cause I'm the one that held things together but I'm proud to say My husband, kids and parents did a wonderful job I love and adore and am grateful to them forever. Its like I'm content and now I have to change that is my fear but with this sight I'm changing my fear into excitement and i know i need to increase my chances of living a longer life so I'm all in. Thank you for being all in with me. I feel incredibly supported sometimes its hard to explain to people in my life what I'm going through because they cant put themselves in that situation. Our experiences bring us together I hope to help other people stay positive and not depressed as 95% of people I met in my cancer journey were depressed I was laughing it up and joking and chilling netflix and chemo chilling lol all that. I guess i'm having a dear diary moment and I apologize for the TMI and the inner workings of myself. Looking Forward to life.

What made you decide to be successful?

i have said it before and some may call it a TMI moment, but when i began to have trouble wiping my butt after going to the bathroom, i knew i needed help or i will be one of those cut out of my house one day.. my A-HA moment was on my pre op liquid and i was whining about it and my ole biker man, who i have been married to for 28+ years, said to me and this is what make this whole thing click and for me to never look back, he said to me to woman up and that i was the one who wanted this surgery (and all that went with it (pre op appts, pre and post op liquid diets etc)...so do what you have to do in order for it to work....that was my moment that made me realize, it was ME who was gonna have to do it.......and once i got that in head, it was on.....havent looked back since... as B52 states, i get it..

    Anyone Have A Problem With...

Same here Bonnie. Felt like I was getting better and today I feel I've taken a step back. Least I finally had a bm ! Sry if tmi. Lol but I Do have pressure in "long area" Don't see doc till the 28th. But they have a 24hr doc that will answer all ?'s do at least I feel a little comfortable knowing that. I'm a little dizzy too, but gonna try and walk some more, thinking its all as related. Good luck. First weeks the hardest from what I've heard.
  22. I had surgery Friday and have felt pretty good. In the evening I was starting to get some pain on the insides, in all the places I would expect with the exception of this pain i have on the lower left side of my abdomen, right inside from my hip bone is. I feel asleep for a few hours and work up and the pain in that area has increased. It feels sore and very tender, its like a dull ache which increases at times when I am walking around, or if I sit up. I just cant imagine why the pain here is prominent when it's about 6 inches over and 3 inches down from my belly button incision. It's on the opposite side of where my port is as well - at least from what the doc told me at my consult. Just wondering if this is normal or should concern me at all? I don't have any gas. I do have the left shoulder pain and have burped a few times but haven't felt any bloating or gas "below" sorry for the tmi!
  23. This may be TMI, and one day I hope I can laugh about it but what a saga! I've had to wait three years for WLS, and have been set to go on July 27. In the last two weeks I'd developed multiple swollen glands in my girl parts, possibly stress related, and started one antibiotic to try to deal with those before surgery. Saw the surgeon for my pre-op appointment, and he said he hopes the glands will be back to normal by the day of surgery. The antibiotic I am taking led to a yeast infection (common side effect), which I realized that same day. That evening, I went for a short hike with my family up our local canyon and inadvertently picked a poison ivy plant, but didn't realize it. On the way home, I ran in to the drug store and bought a 3 day yeast infection treatment. Got home. Took a shower. Gave myself a good scratch, if you know what I mean, still not realizing I had poison ivy oil all over my hands. You tracking with me??? Got out of the shower, began the treatment for the yeast infection. Went to bed, blissfully unaware of the mayhem about to ensue. The next day, I noticed a red patch on my arm and suddenly realized what had happened and that I'd touched poison ivy. By that night, my face was swollen from where I had touched my face, pre-moment of enlightenment. It has been awful. I tried all the homeopathic options first, asked friends on FB, they asked their friends, people were networking, all trying to help me. Bought Tecnu, bought calendula cream, Rhus tox, you name it. The next morning was even worse (glands were larger still, starting to get itchy). It was a Sunday, so I went to the ER in tears, hoping to get Prednisone and try to kick this whole thing. That was the treatment I received, and they were all wonderful and sympathetic. Was in charge of a company picnic for 125 in the 95 degree weather, with a boss who never thought to mercifully send me home, so I toughed it out. Got a mild sunburn from that. Today, my fingers are worse from the ivy and I'm finding other small Patches on my bod, here and there. Something is giving me diarrhea, but that is the least of my troubles right now. I just need something to get better... This is a comedy of errors like I've never experienced. I just don't want to have to postpone surgery. These are minor issues, but I know added up together might do just that. I have to surrender to the idea that there are worse things that postponement. I am very healthy overall, and this is just crazy. Thanks for being the one place I can tell this dumb story. One way or the other, it will pass. But my advice to you all in the weeks before your surgery is to NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE. Kidding.
  24. Just an update .. Trip to ER ... Severely constipated .. (tmi sorry).... Left side pain unbearable ... Alls well now..Still very sore but back on track... Just a lesson learned on keeping up with fiber etc ... Which for me watermelon works like a charm.... Thanks for advice everyone
